What a nice little local comfort food place. I was immediately greeted by Terry with a handshake when I got to the table, very nice server enjoyed his humor and helpfulness. Got the daily special, which was catfish cooked my way fried shrimp and two sides. Everything was good, the shrimp and the catfish seemed like it was already cooked and just warmed up, but it was still a good flavor so if it was fresh, I would've given a five instead of four. I'm thinking they were pre-cooked due to the fact that it was the daily special. I will go back and try the grilled catfish or salmon next time since the flavor was very good.

What an amazing time we had. Drew was our server and he did an outstanding job. We never wanted for anything. His service was impeccable. The food was great as usual and the restaurant was decorated all festive for the holidays. The ambiance was very family friendly.

Everything we ate here was top notch fried pickles and jalapeños; Came with ranch and horseradish sauce. Perfectly fried and the sauce was 10/10. Chicken fried steak; a fan favorite. So tender, well seasoned, and huge. Fried shrimp with blackened fish; shrimp had good batter, slightly tough but delicious. Fish was the star, so perfectly cooked. We got broccoli cheddar rice and macaroni. I could have eaten just sides and still ranked this place 5 stars.

It has been a while since my last review so I thought I would update it. Not much has changed which is good. My most recent visit was for the chicken fried steak entree that comes with mashed potatoes and gravy and with a side salad for $18. The salad was still good but I noticed that it no longer comes with shredded cheese on top like my picture of it from 7 years ago. Too bad. The CFS was large on the plate and tasted good along with the spuds. This is one of the better CFS's in the area. The waitress was prompt and friendly. Pappy's is a good place to eat.

Mixed fajitas for one. The fajitas were definitely tasty, however, the rice was undercooked and the beans were bland. Server was nice and attentive.

There are a lot of different food spots to choose from in the Energy Corridor. This was one of the only restaurants that was still open for different past 8 PM. I was surprised to see that it was EMPTY for dinner when I came by at 7:45. There were probably 4 other guests in the whole restaurant. I sat down at the bar area and Michael came to take care of me. Service was a bit slow which was surprising because no one else was there... took a while to get my water and to place my order. I got the Chicken Florentine with the Texas Smashed Potatoes and Fried Okra. I then couldn't pass up homemade blackberry cobbler for dessert which hit home with a nice scoop of vanilla on top! There's plenty of bar seating and regular dining, it was just quiet and slow. Seems like a good local watering hole to check out.

Service was very good here as is the atmosphere. Had the chicken fried steak and ribs/sausage plate. The portions are big and everything was really tasty. The ribs were super tender.

Sometimes a good dinner at the bar is all you need, and 48 definitely understood the assignment!…read more Stopped in for dinner and treated myself to the fried lobster and a cocktail. The lobster was the star of the evening! There's something about a good seafood dish, a well made drink, and being able to sit at the bar and enjoy your own company that makes for a lovely night out. I also appreciate restaurants where you can have a full dining experience without necessarily needing a table or a special occasion. Sometimes you just want to pull up a barstool, order something delicious, and enjoy your evening. Definitely a nice option for a solo dinner, a casual date, or an evening out when you're in the mood to indulge a little. And yes, I'm always here for a restaurant that makes dining at the bar feel like an experience of its own. Good seafood and a cocktail will get me every time!

We enjoyed a glass or two of wine, tossed some darts, and soaked in the relaxed, unpretentious vibe. It is casual in the right way. Easy to talk, easy to stay, and not trying too hard to be anything other than a solid local bar. The real highlight, though, is Posty the bar cat. An adorable black and white cat who clearly runs the place. Getting to know Posty outside was an unexpected and genuinely charming moment that made the stop memorable. If you are a cat person, this alone will win you over. Even if you are not, it is hard not to smile. Great drinks, darts, friendly energy, and a bar cat that steals the show. Me and a friend came here on a whim. We were in Houston and was headed to one place when we…read morestumbled across this place. We walked and and you had to have reservations however they had 2 spots at the bar upstairs so we sat there. It was a fine dining place and we were a bit casual but still nice where we didn't stick out so terribly..lol SERVICE: We were probably at the bar I would say at least 10 mins before anyone greeted us. And 2 ladies to our right may have been there I would say about 15 mins before us, only b/c they didn't have anything in front of them just yet. Looked like thwy hadn't been there long, however, evwrytime I turned around this guy kept checking on them making sure they were good. He seemed to be some sort of manager. Anyhoo, finally a server came and greeted us. She had a unique name that now I have forgotten, but anyhoo, she was really nice. It was restaurante month there so we took advantage of there pre-made menu that came with a 3 course meal excluding drinks. We were served our drinks and not to long our apps. And the ladies next to us may have been 5 mins in between us ordering. However their food would come out fast. Once our apps were finished I know it had to have been 20 mins or longer before our food came out whereas the ladies next to use finished there apps not to long before us and had their food in the next 10 mins or so. They were actually just about done eating their main course and our food hadn't even came out yet. Then a server brought us over the desserts and I was like we hadn't had our meal yet. At this point I was a bit upset b/c I felt like since we were 2 women of color we were being over looked. There wasn't many ppl of color in this place. Matter-of-fact I think I only saw one other table that had ppl of color sitting at it. Other than that it was just us. So I th3n ask for a manager. He came, same guy that had been fawning over the ladies next to us, amd he gave some lame excuse for th3 delay and mix up with the desserts and offered us a glass of Champagne, I don't even like Champagne, he could have offered either a drink of our choice of maybe a bit off the bill for the delay. I understood it was busy, but they also know it was restaurant week and they wasn't a delay with the ladies next to us. So I felt like he was a bit dismissive and I did t appreciate it. If it hadn't been for the service or our waiter we might not have stayed. FOOD: Now I will say the food was soo good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the beef salad although it came stacked and looked so great and my friend had the meatballs which she raved about. For dinner we both had the salmon which was superb. So no complaints here. Then the desserts. I had the carrot cake and she had the chocolate genache cake. They were delightful AMBIANCE: It was packed but not uncomfortable it was just a lot of ppl. But it also was quite a big place. They had a downstairs, upstairs and an outside area, so lots of seating, however they were extremely full. The bar was quite roomy and luckily we were able to take the end corner part which was perfect, b/c not a lot of ppl passing by us. Like we had our own little section. All in all is was nice, I would only go back during restaurant month or with a date who was paging b/c outside the prepaid menu which was $55 (not including drinks) most meals went from $40-$200pp and that is no exaggeration. So yea it was quite the fine dining experience.

This was my first experience with Credence and the atmosphere was new, modern and a little noisy. The lunch gnocchi was my first experience with gnocchi (in particular cornmeal gnocchi) so I have nothing with which to compare; I would probably not have it again but it wasn't bad. I have had plenty of beet salads and this didn't make the top ten. The grilled tuna salad my husband ordered rated a 0 on a scale of 1-5. The tuna may have been grilled as advertised, but there was no evidence of it, and there was absolutely no taste to it. I would have expected there to be some seasoning, but again, no evidence. The green beans were so crunchy they might as well have been fresh-picked and the sauce over the snow peas was so tasteless, Ranch dressing would have been a huge improvement. I could only eat one, and I really like snow peas. Until they get a better chef, I will not be returning.

The ambiance was beautiful too, and the speakeasy was such a fun bonus. The monkey bread was the perfect way to start ! Warm, soft, and dangerously easy to keep eating. The baked potato was probably one of my favorite sides; it was super creamy with this crusted layer that basically melted in your mouth. The NY Strip steak was perfectly seasoned and definitely lived up to expectations. The branzino was fresh and cooked well, but the seasoning was a little too subtle for me, so it didn't stand out as much as the other dishes. I also wasn't a huge fan of the cabbage. Overall though, Credence absolutely delivered. Great food, great service, beautiful atmosphere, and plenty of dishes I'd come back for.
