Crab & Spinach Dip

I've visited this particular location several times and the staff is always super helpful and attentive. The reason for 3 stars is because the last few times we've ordered food (some dine in and some carry out) the fried food was extremely greasy and didn't have much flavor If any. For my order today there was so much grease the breading was actually coming off and the shrimp was rubbery with no flavor at all. Not that it's a huge deal but it looked just thrown in the box. The red beans and rice that came with us was great.

Haven't been to Pappadeaux in a lil min. Ended up here for a birthday dinner last minute. They've changed the fried gator and I must say, although it was good, the OG was better. Especially the sauce it used to come with. I'm actually sad they changed it now. Also ordered the charbroiled oysters, which never disappoint. I went simple with my meal this time and just got the blackened catfish with dirty rice. It was delicious per usual. Our service was decent but we did come in pretty late and close to closing time so I wasn't expecting much tbh. Good meal. Never disappoint.. but please bring back the OG gator or at least offer both options

Chilean Sea Bass

New menu item alert. I typically have great visits to Pappadeaux and this was no different. We sat at the bar to watch Sunday football and partake in some libations. We started with a crab cake (sorry no pic) as an appetizer. I was worried it would have tons of filler and it did have some but I will say the crab meat was still plentiful and packed with such great flavor!!! For an entree I decided to give the new menu entree a try which was the sea bass atop a bed of warm sautéed spinach. The sea bass had an au gratin top and was so well prepared that I couldn't put my fork down. However, I'm learning to stop indulging once I feel satisfied but it was extremely hard to do today...but I did it. He went with grilled red fish with a side of truffle potatoes and enjoyed it thoroughly. For dessert I got the sweet potato pecan pie to go and it came à la mode with a bourbon cream sauce. Great dining in experience overall today. Great bartenders as well.

Yet another missing review! Always puzzling. I've eaten at this location at least a dozen times withreviews and updates. No problem though because,I'm not updating as a general rule anymore and this will just add to my stable of recommendations. With much anticipation, Papadeaux hit Dallas-Ft Worth about 30 years ago with their Richardson location. Let me say here,I believe that's still the best Papadeaux in DFW. This location was 2nd or 3rd and I've eaten here a dozen times. While overall Papadeaux in general hit a few rough spots about 15 years ago. They seem to have recovered for the most part. I remember thinking $18.95 was a lot for the Redfish Pontchartrain in 1995. That's only continued to rise and is Knocking on the $50.00 per serving door. But,that's ok as long as they " bring it" and they generally do. Reading some of the poor reviews,I'm inclined to believe it stems from people's choices. For example, why would you order tallapia when great red snapper, red fish and grouper is available? I know,it's cheaper but, when your at Pappas,go big or go home. Now, competition is having an affect on everyone in the area including these guys. I commend them for juggling high cost of quality seafoods, pricing, service and still delivering. One way they're doing this is lunch menus even on weekends. My reduced portion of grouper was less expensive off the lunch menu but enough to satisfy. The Shrimp Cobb was magnificent and I could easily eat it everyday. So,head over to your closest Papadeaux, pull out all stops and enjoy.

Seafood Knife & Fork Cobb Salad

Love, love, love the seafood knife and fork Cobb salad. Super fresh, jumbo lump crab meat, and shrimp that were sautéed in some sort of seasoning before placing on top of them on a wedge of lettuce with all your traditional cob salad toppings on the side. So good! We also tried the crab fingers and crab and spinach dip. The crab and spinach dip was a good eight out of 10. Crab fingers not so much. I tried the sautéed crab fingers and did not like them 3/10, they tasted like they had been maybe sautéed and then reheated or sautéed and washed with water. I felt like the waitress tried to tell me lol. I will just try the fried next time. Our waitress was super sweet and they were definitely fully staffed. The inside is very clean and very well lit. Parking pretty limited during peak hours (all day).

From the time we first pulled up into the parking lot I was impressed with the way everything looked . The atmosphere and overall feeling I received in entering was extremely impressive. We had to wait around 15 minutes before being seated; however the short wait time was worth it. We went for my first cousin 70th birthday celebration and everyone truly enjoyed the experience. The entire party of eight ordered the Blackened catfish with red beans and rice. Honestly this was one of the best meals I have had from a restaurant. The fish was perfect and seasoned to perfection. I will definitely be coming back whenever I visit Dallas and I will definitely try something new.

Food was great! Service was excellent and they were very busy. The Brownie dessert was awesome too!

Per usual Pappadeaux was very good. This is a favorite place but I have noticed an ever increase in prices. Probably why they are never as busy as they used to be.

It's been a while since I've been to Pappadeaux, but we decided to come for my hubby's birthday dinner. I made reservations and we were seated within a few minutes of arriving. It wasn't as busy inside as I'd expected based on past experiences but there were still a good number of people there. We were seated at a table and our server arrived shortly to take our drink orders. She was very friendly & nice. We ordered salads for the kiddos and the garlic bread app she mentioned while we looked at the menu. Prices have definitely increased - I get it, but still pricey. I'd say the average price is now in the mid 30's per plate. In the past I've gotten the mixed seafood grill but don't recall seeing it on the menu now (I only thought about it after leaving & didn't ask). I guess they've made some modifications to their menu. We ordered the kids noodles, Crawfish platter, reddish, and salmon meal. Everyone did enjoy their food and we ended up with food to enjoy later. Hubby got a dessert for his birthday, sweet potato pecan pie I believe and then we also shared the bread pudding. Food was good, just expect a high bill, lol.

Crawfish Combination and Caesar Salad

Always love Pappadeaux and this one no exception. Nice location, beautiful ambiance and just smiley faces as soon as you walked in. I believe we were the first to walk in at 11am on this particular day. We had our usual lunch crawfish combo (split) and we added Caesar to it. Service is always amazing and food is always consistent. You can't go wrong getting lunch at any Pappa's location

Pappadeaux is always been a classy but casual and consistent spot for me when it comes to French Quarter classics. We always get and split the Crawfish Combination which comes with crawfish etouffe, fried crawfish and dirty rice with an add on of ceasar salad. Service is always friendly and welcoming. They always have that pep no matter what time of day you dine in. I'd say they also have one of the most beautiful restaurants. The outside always makes you feel like you are really dining somewhere in the French Quarter. Definitely one that you will always comeback to.

Steak and Manchego Potato Puree

First of all, my kids love to look around this place with all the cool wall sea animal decorations. The food was so yummy! We started with the crab claws that are not on the menu because they are out of season sometimes. Those never miss. They are so yummy and have so much flavor. The crab and spinach dip with the garlic bread is so good as well. I could have had that as my entree. I ordered the crispy salmon. The flavor of the meal was so good and the potato puree was like a creamy mashed potato side. My son got the fried catfish and fries (not pictured) and he loved it. My dad got the steak, he loooved the potato puree as well. My hubby got the redfish. Everything had flavor and was delicious. The cheesecake for dessert was a bit too thick, but still good! The only thing off was about the service, the waitress just seemed like she didn't really want to be there and kept mentioning the bread being in the oven, then we got room temp bread (which would be fine if she hadn't said it was in the oven multiple times). Overall a great dinner!

Grouper
Sean C.

I've always been a fan of Pappadeaux's since I started going when I was visiting Austin as a kid. All the restaurants have a slight New Orleans theme to them which is nice. Service was good and very friendly. Quickly got seated, got drinks, appetizer, and food. Today I had the grouper that the server described as almost a seafood boil with a nice piece of fish on top. Everything was delicious. The shrimp, scallop, mussels, clams, and grouper. Best part to me though was dipping the bread into the brother to soak up all the flavor.

As soon as I got home, I opened that tray and went straight for the hush puppies because listen, this lady loveee a good hush puppy lol, and they did not disappoint. I've only had one visit that wasn't perfect, but it was just ONE item, not the whole plate. It wasn't enough to turn me away, and I'm glad I gave them another chance (& another, & another lol) because they've been consistent ever since. The fish and shrimp are always fresh, hot, and seasoned just right. It honestly reminds me of home. If you're from southern Louisiana, especially southeastern Louisiana...you already know the standard... so many places falsely advertise "that expectation of taste" but The Catch meets it. You will not be disappointed; highly recommend 1000%.

They were fairly prompt in processing my simple order of a four-piece shrimp basket. The shrimp were not butterflyed, and fried whole is more difficult, but I prefer it. They were above average for fried shrimp from a fast-food seafood place. The interior is clean but not really appealing to dine in, and The Catch is too far for me to be a take-away destination. Better than most.

The staff is welcoming and professional, and the clientele adds to the warm, classic atmosphere that keeps people coming back year after year. It's rare to find a place that maintains this level of excellence for so long. Lefty's is truly a Dallas institution and still the gold standard for great seafood and steaks. The first five of us ordered drinks while we waited, and the remaining couples joined shortly after and did the same. Our waiter was fantastic. He was witty with a dry, sarcastic sense of humor that fit our group perfectly. He made the evening feel relaxed and fun, and we genuinely appreciated his attentiveness throughout the meal. We started with two orders of the crab fingers, the Maryland crab cake, and calamari. The crab fingers were the clear standout appetizer, as it was a unique dish that everyone loved. The broth was so flavorful that several of us soaked it up with bread and couldn't get enough. The crab cake was just okay, slightly fishier than expected. For entrées, there were some real highlights. The halibut special and the sea bass special were both exceptional. The Lefty's pasta is enormous and packed with flavor, another favorite amongst us. The chicken parmesan was solid for those not in the mood for seafood, though I'll admit I expected a bit more boldness in the sauce and a little more sauce overall would have helped elevate the dish. We didn't take many photos because we were focused on enjoying the company and celebrating the occasion. Everything felt celebratory and enjoyable until the very end. After we had paid our checks, a few of us were finishing the last of our wine and drinks. Within moments of closing out, the owner approached our table and abruptly told us he had a party of ten waiting and that we needed to hurry up. Had he given us five more minutes, we would have naturally wrapped up and left on our own, completely happy with the experience. He could have approached us with kindness and this result would have been so different. Instead, that interaction left us feeling rushed and unwelcome. We spent a significant amount of money and were not lingering excessively, so it was disappointing to have the evening end that way. With a little more grace at the finish, this would have been a five-star evening.
