The Blueberry Lavender Lemonade, Chipotle Chicken, Avo Sandwich with chips, Mac & Cheese - small with French Baguette
    Patrizio U.

The footnotes while I ate alone :,) * Kind cashier, friendly and the chat we had for the pastry was great! *Good wait time, I didn't wait a lot of time between ordering and waiting, the back of house got food served ~10 mins after the order was pended *Amazing Food! The Chipotle Chicken Avo Melt and Macaroni and cheese was delicious! The Macaroni was a tad bit tangy for my liking, but the cheese and Pasta was really well cooked. The sandwich, I ordered whole, was more than filling, the spices and avocado were just the cherry on top! *Relaxing vibe, the floor was visibly clean, except for some crumbs, but what can you do really. Music choice was very nice, to be fair I like any type of music, but that's coming from a rock listener in an environment with pop in the background. Lighting, Seating was truly the seller, calming, relaxing, while having a lively atmosphere. This was a great experience for a first time! Not Fine Dining, but not Fast Food. A true cafe experience! Bye!

Wow. Twenty bucks to not get it right.....AGAIN

Could these people be any more incompetent? I've been trying to not leave single star reviews and I've been trying to be nicer, but this place is literally zero-for-three: at LEAST THREE attempts on order fulfillment in the past month. I can no longer abide their willful incompetence. From incorrect drinks and incorrect orders, they can't get it right to save their own asses. We started this most recent saga ordering delivery; and I must say, shrinkflation has hit Panera like an eighty year old man falling through the ice on a frozen lake. The baja bowl, for example, is less than HALF what it used to be, in weight and size, while the price has grown like a teen boy's * in a sorority house party. First, they got the incorrect soups, sides, and drinks, second time it was missing drinks. Finally, this third attempt just now, where we went to the store for takeout, they F*ed up the protein and didn't add any chicken that we paid $$$ for. Now, I will say this, we did inspect the basic order, and my partner looked in the bag and it looked "correct" but she didn't look close enough to check and see if there was chicken in the Mediterranean bowl she ordered. There wasn't. I'm sick of this place. If they can't get it right even one time in three they need to just give up and close.

There is a lot I want to talk about but more importantly, it was the look of food and how extremely rude the manager was. Today I called the Sterling location I called and spoke to a guy. He claimed he was the manager and gave me a fake name. I soon learned his name was ERIC. As soon as I made my order, I called and requested a few things. Extra sauce on the side, butter, and end pieces of the bread. When my food came I had no butter, no end pieces, and no straw for my drink. I called and spoke to the same guy. Eric was not pleasant to talk to and was rude from the start. The whole time we were on the phone, he seemed short and was rushing to get me off the phone. I had called and let him know I just placed the order and wasn't given butter, a straw, or end pieces. His first remark was "we don't normally give butter unless you ask". Then he mentioned that he told the chiefs about the end pieces and they must have not understood him. The thing is, he was not being understanding since we started talking. He was defensive and was pushing the conversation like I had wronged him in a way. I had let him know that I had called right after (and he was the one I spoke to) about all of that. He kept repeating that he told the staff but they must not have understood him. I told him that the end pieces weren't that important but I needed butter and a straw. He kept repeating that I never told him about the butter. That was the MAIN thing I called the store about the first time. It was the most important. He said that he didn't have any drivers to bring them back since it was doordash or whatever. I told him I ordered it through the app. He again got really rude saying that he didn't have anyone to bring it to me and he was not having someone come just to give me a straw and butter. I told him that I had called and requested the things but the straw I didn't think I needed to call and ask for since it was common sense. I told him I needed a straw to drink my Pepsi. He then made a rude remark saying "Why can't you open up the drink and take small sips." He did not attempt to help me in any way. I was neither rude nor yelling at all during that conversation, I was genuinely confused during the majority of it. He kept repeating that he wasn't going to send someone out to bring me a straw and butter and that I needed to call in the future if I needed butter. I kept telling him that I called and spoke to him about it as soon as I placed my order. He again kept repeating that I need to call the store and put it in a message. He did not care at all and did not care about anything I said. At that point, I couldn't take the rudeness anymore. I asked to speak to a manager and he claims he "was the manager," who knows if that is correct? I even asked for his name before I left and that was what he claimed his name was. He said that he could refund me my Pepsi and then make another order for the Pepsi and he could send butter and a straw with that order. As in, I would have to pay for a Pepsi (that I didn't before since I'm a member) and pay for the delivery AND convenience fee, just to get the things I've already requested for) Then when I opened my bag to eat it, the sandwiches looked HORRIBLE! The sandwiches looked thrown and not put together at all. One of the sandwiches looked old and squished. The avocados were brown and looked old.  The other sandwich looked worse. The whole middle was pushed out and the sides were caved in. There was sauce all over the tops of the sandwiches (not in the sandwich, literally on top of the sandwich). I have never had that bad of an experience in my life anywhere. The funny thing is that I was just in last night and ordered food. The woman there with straight blond hair was really nice and even gave me samples of two breads and sauce because I didn't know the name of the one I liked. She was extremely sweet and caring AND I came 15 minutes before the store closed, and she still treated me that way. Edit: Today, halfway through my first sandwich, I noticed a BUG in my food. I did take a photo but it's hard to make out what kind of bug it is. It's "small" and has several legs. It's a little squished so It's hard to tell which king but it was folded into the turkey. It's black, and has several legs but it's not a spider. The only reason I noticed it was because I was trying to rebuild my sandwich since it was thrown and nothing was stacked correctly. I like bugs but the one thing I can not handle is them in my food. After seeing that, I was extremely disgusted and threw away my WHOLE order including the brownie.

The cashier lady was rude. Still I left $1 tip. But the issue was with the food. I ordered spicy chicken Fiesta instead I got a sad slices of chicken slapped in sad bread. What I ordered vs what I got my 15 bucks. The customer screen is down all across the board... why

Curbside pick up is easy and quick. . .
    Fred S.

I love the curbside pick up option from here and the food quality and selection is great . However the past two visits my order has been forgotten and I have had to go inside and find my order after waiting up to ten minutes past when it was ready. One employee, Ms. Jackie P. stood out this last visit and was empathic to the situation. She made sure Panera did not lose a customer. Excellent customer service! We will keep coming back. Jackie made a difference. Thank you Jackie for listening and for caring.

The service at the Sterling location on the day I visited was excellent. Friendly, patient, helpful, and polite. The feel of the location itself is your typical fast-food joint. Get in. Get out. Seemed clean enough. Not very cozy as in a great place to hang out. Not sure how it is during peak hours but the parking lot might get a bit crowded. The street for sure is busy & can cause cars to back up into the parking lot. The food, while not as awesome as I remembered it 5 years ago in MD, is still tasty. Today's visit, the meat in gyros was a bit dry & the gyros & the side of fries I paid full price for were rather skimpy in serving, given that the gyros used to be served with fries included in the price of the gyro. Still, the fries & the gyros still taste good. Not as good a value as in days of old...even on $7 gyro Wednesdays (which used to be $5 gyro Wednesdays). The fried fish sandwich was a good deal in these horrible economic times because it comes with a good-sized filet and fries. Although, $2 extra for Greek fries that only had a tablespoon of garlic, dry herbs, and feta crumbles tossed on top rolling off the fries then pooling at the bottom of the container. The garlic, herbs, & feta are supposed to stick to piping hot fries steaming with the awesome garlicky oil. What I received was really underwhelming and didn't even come close to the Greek fries I remember. So, I'll preface this review conclusion with this: Big Greek Cafe was one of my absolute favorite local joints... the food made me drool just thinking about it. The food was always plentiful in servings, hot, fresh, aromatic, wonderfully delicious, and everything on the menu was such a good value, you'd end up buying a ton of food. Was this trip worth the drive? Glad the curiosity about whether this VA location equaled the MD experiences was satisfied. Probably no longer high on my list to go out of my way to drive 30 minutes to get what used to be my fav sandwich. It seems a little too fast-foodsy, mass-produced now than the original delectable hole-in-the-wall local joint. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely pick up something because it's still tasty...just not as fantastic as I remember.

In front of customers, he addressed staff in a manner that came across as rude, condescending, and unprofessional. He referenced scheduling demands and appeared dismissive of their hard work during a busy influx of guests. Rather than improving service, his tone created visible tension and added stress to the dining room. We are weekly diners and know many of the staff by name. Watching them be publicly belittled while they continued providing excellent service made all four of us uncomfortable enough to leave earlier than usual. We understand everyone can have an off day, but this did not reflect the standard of professionalism and hospitality we've come to expect from Burtons. Their hardworking staff did not merit their leader's negative conduct that day. We value this restaurant and its team and hope this feedback is taken constructively. If he is the manager in charge on Wednesdays we will not return. Aside from the uncomfortable incident I will note the food is excellent, the waiters, hosts, bartenders, chefs are all wonderful. (end of original review) Response from~ Ivy E on February 27th replied to our review verbatim: "Alejandro, this is very troubling to read. I am so sorry that anything I say to my staff would ever be construed so negatively, certainly to the extent it would ruin someone's experience at our restaurant. I certainly welcome the opportunity to be able to discuss this with you further. I would cherish a moment of your time to deep dive into this. There are two things that are extremely important to me: my staff and the guest experience. Burtons embraces 7 Defining Principles and one of those is "Quality." My staff's quality of life is always at the forefront of my mind. If they are happy, then they will hopefully take great care of our guests. I would never ever be dismissive of their hard work as you have referenced and tend to go out of my way to thank them for their hard work. I am a big fan of the high five and Wednesday there was a lot of high 5's being thrown around. So please feel free to seek me out and hopefully after an actual conversation with one another, with any luck we can walk away with a better understanding of one another's thought process." (end of Ivy E. Business Affiliated Reply) :::Update::to Business response: Ivy or Larry?, Thank you for responding. I think? I want to be honest. The reply felt defensive and focused on intent rather than on the guest experience that was described. There was absolutely no acknowledgment that the interaction may have been uncomfortable for those in the dining room, and no apology for that impact. A client-first response usually begins with listening, taking ownership of how something was experienced, and offering reassurance that it will be reflected on or remedied. Instead, the emphasis seemed to be on explaining why the behavior would not have been dismissive. Gpt Much? We are weekly diners. We were there. There was a row of us. The atmosphere shifted. It became tense and uncomfortable enough that we left early feeling bad for other diners and especially the staff on hand. That has never happened before. Regarding the invitation to speak one on one, it is difficult to feel comfortable pursuing that when the initial response does not acknowledge or apologize for what occurred plus based on our experience is intimidating to be honest. Before a private conversation can feel constructive, there needs to be recognition of the impact that was described publicly. This is not about attacking anyone's character. It is about accountability and maintaining the standard of professionalism that made us regulars in the first place and most that was thanks to the wonderful staff that was being pummeled by your ire. This is also not a bot-gpt-dry pr response. It may be well for you to know I'm also being very considerate and mindful in my review in comparison to the guests and fellow diners who witnessed this behavior wish me to be. We hope this feedback can simply be received in that spirit and that Burton's as a whole can make sure that should they feel the need to be short with their employees they can do so in a manner that is more private, constructive, and away from our dining experience. At the minimum in a more professional manner and conduct. Alejandro
