This is a great Jimmy John's located next to Panera and Sprout's off Elden St. Whether I order online or in person, the food always comes out quickly and accurately. Shop seemed clean and busy but this was what I ate for the day and I got terrible food poisoning. I ordered the tuna club. The cucumbers were transparent and the tuna was definitely off. The staff was polite and speedy but the food itself doesn't seem well maintained. The bread was rock hard as well. I didn't have time to drive back so I figured pick the cucumbers out and just deal with the stale bread. Bad idea. read more

This particular Jimmy John's is good. Shop is clean, easy to order and get your food with good customer service. Our subs were good. My large was longer than I expected. Meat and cheese portions were right sized for the size of the sub bun. Good flavor. The bread is too thick for my preference and no toasting option, but that's part of JJ's experience. Overall, I think this location is a good JJ's experience. I recommend this one if JJ's is your thing. read more

I come to this Jimmy John's about once every two weeks but go to Jimmy John's once a week between here and South riding. The subs here taste better because the breaded baked perfectly. Some of the other Jimmy's well over cook their bread or cook the moisture right out of it. Mr. William, who works the counter and makes the sandwiches, is absolutely fantastic. Watching him work with his coworkers shows me how much they care about hiring great people. With great people comes great service and great sandwiches. read more

**** 3 1/2 Stars **** ------------------- We figured that we were overdue for a visit to Jimmy John's. I was curious to see how they stacked up against Jersey Mike's. The visit was worth it as we concluded that Jimmy John's was better than Subway but not quite as good as Jersey Mike's. When we arrived at around 6 p.m. on a Friday night, there was no line. The guy behind the register was very friendly. We both decided to go for the #5 Vito. This sandwich consists of "genoa salami, provolone, capicola, onion, lettuce, tomato and a real tasty Italian vinaigrette" (the description is straight from their menu.). We both asked them to hold the onion and we were happily obliged. One big difference between Jimmy John's and Jersey Mike's --- the cold cuts at Jimmy John's are pre-sliced while Jersey Mike's slices them fresh with each order. Other differences---the rolls used at Jimmy John's are thinner (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). Jersey Mike's "Mike's Way" is way better than Jimmy John's "real tasty Italian vinaigrette". Jersey Mike's is far more flavorful. However, I'll give Jimmy John's one thing---they aren't too heavy-handed with the vinaigrette which is sometimes a problem at Jersey Mike's. Jersey Mike's has some hot subs on the menu---not so for Jimmy John's. One thing at Jimmy John's that gave us a bit of a laugh---for their tuna subs, part of the description says "fresh housemade tuna". Yet up on a shelf in plain sight are institutional sizes of Chicken of the Sea tuna. Hmmm...a bit misleading...! Jersey Mike's "Original Italian" has a larger variety of meats in it. Theirs has provolone, ham, proscuittini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni. We have to say that Jersey Mike's wins the "throwdown" of the Italian subs in terms of overall flavor and variety. As for price ---Jersey Mike's is a bit more expensive. However, we go there when the "Clipper" has coupons. We've yet to see any for Jimmy John's As for atmosphere---Jimmy John's is a much smaller shop with far less seating. Also, while Jersey Mike's has 2 TVs running with soft sound, Jimmy John's blasts 80s headbanger music. At least we were lucky that they played 3 songs that we liked when were there. In between each songs there is very brief silence. So---it's like this --- Between bites of the sandwich, sing along with AC/DC "You shook me all night long" --- Quck, talk! --- Then sing along with Warrant "Where the down boys go" --- talk some more! --- Now sing along with Bon Jovi "Shot through the heart and you're too blame. You give love a bad name" So---For us anyway, Jersey Mike's comes out on top. Yet we don't have any problem giving Jimmy John's another shot and try a different sandwich. In fact, I'll take the "#5 Vito" any day over Subway's "BMT". read more

This place promises food freaky fast. I was handed me my sandwich as I was paying for it. Pretty freaky fast, if you ask me. The staff is super courteous and helpful. The store is impeccably clean. Half-way through our meal on staff member came over, asked us how our meal was, and gave us a complementary humongous chocolate chip cookie (delicious). Probably because we told them it was our first visit. I have never gotten this kind of VIP treatment at any other fast-food restaurant. So with all this positive, why did I not give JJ five stars. Because I really did not like the sandwich. It had an overwhelming taste of horseradish. Now I like horseradish OK but this was too much. We could not figure the source of this taste, because JJ does not offer horseradish as a condiment. Maybe it's just me but I ate less than half my sandwich. How do you make sure your restaurant will be a success? You provide high quality product (among the top cold sandwich shops I've ever eaten at in terms of taste), affordable prices (a meal for about $10, less if you get only a sandwich), and you guarantee that the food will be served so quickly that your customers will "freak". Yup, that sounds about right. As far as quality goes, JJ's is the best. For a cold sandwich, I have yet to find a deli or restaurant chain or competitor that makes sandwiches that are as tasty as JJ's. My personal favorites are the Italian Night Club, the Beach Club, and the Gargantuan. But honestly, all of their subs are great. Their breads, omg their breads. Freshly baked bread every day that just melts in your mouth. I'd dare say you could eat the bread alone and it'd be delicious enough to earn a 4 star review without even talking about fixings. And then the speed. You pay for your sandwich and by the time you've filled your soda at the soda fountain, your sandwich is right there waiting for you...it's literally almost that fast. Oh and they deliver. Depending on the branch you're ordering from, the delivery radius may or may not include you, but if you're fortunate enough to be in their zone, their delivery is nearly as fast as their sandwich making ability. I go with my usual, the Beach Club. The sandwich arrives at my desk about 20 minutes after I order. Full of excitement, I open my sandwich to find that not only did they forget the avocado spread (the whole reason for the beach club) but they put roast beef on my sandwich instead of turkey. Naturally, I was startled. I was going back and forth in my head trying to decide whether to call back and complain. Really good food as it is at all Jimmy John's. Speedy service, again all Jimmy John's make your sandwich with quality and speed. My only concern at this particular location was at lunchtime. Order was taken before I got to the register and then was handed off to someone else to fill it. Because I asked for my sandwich in a lettuce wrap, with no mayo and extra meat, I wanted to make sure it was done right. When I finally began to eat the sandwich, I was miles away from the location and I'm not sure that I really received the extra meat even though I paid for it. It wasn't super crowded and I think it would have been better off if there were two cashiers instead of one, the order would have been prepared just as fast and then I would have been sure that the sandwich would have been prepared as expected. Again, it could have been correct, but it seemed a little light to have contained the extra meat. I ate it, it was good, but I needed additional protein and I just felt there wasn't quite enough. Its not the end of the world, but would rather this shop see what I saw and make modifications so that no one has issues in the future. Otherwise, keep up the good work! read more

So today (01/24/14) was my first time at Jimmy John's and after hearing such rave reviews from colleagues and Yelp friends, it was only right that I give this place a try. I arrived around 1pm and immediately when I entered all I could smell was pure deliciousness, and to my surprise it wasn't packed at all (which was cool because it gave me time to look over the menu without feeling rushed). I finally decided that I would get the number 9 ("Italian Night Club" on a sub roll) on their menu and I must say that I was quite pleased with my decision. The bread held up quite well (didn't get soggy like a lot of sandwiches do), the meat was plentiful (for any reasonable eater), and the price wasn't bad either. They have places where you can sit and eat but I opted to take it back to work. The service was quite speedy but then again there really wasn't anyone there. In the end, I like Jimmy John's and I most definitely will go back to try other menu items. First impressions are always crucial to get customers to return but consistency is what makes a regular. Terrible experience and customer service. Order food to be delivered 5 minutes from restaurant, looked forward to their "freaky fast delivery" to hungry kids at a baseball game. Order went in at the top of the first inning. 28 minutes later they call me "restaurant SLAMMED. order on its way. Order will come with a coupon for a free sub. " I called at the ONE HOUR mark. Order not here. "Sorry we are busy. Its in the car, on the way, no more than 15 minutes." 90 MINUTE mark. I cal again. "Sorry we're busy... don't know where order is....." BASEBALL GAME OVER. 9 year olds played an ENTIRE game before you guys could make 4 sandwiches and deliver 5 minutes away. You should've told customers you couldn't handle order. Extremely hungry. New place on the block, Another Deli (shocker!) . I have heard of this place and even checked it out in Florida. Went over to grab a something togo. I went with a Roast Beef (aka Big John) w/ Cheese. Service was SUPER friendly (almost annoying) and was really fast, by the time I walked down to the area to pick up it was ready. Roast beef was rare!!! Awesome, I have a no place to get this, but they don't have any cheese but provolone and no horseradish. Overall this a great new place, and from my first impression will be a big hit for Herndon. Years ago, my husband and I were eating at a Jimmy John's in Bloomington, IN. It was so delicious, I said "wow, if there were one of these near us at home, I'd eat there every day,and get SO fat!". Well, I've only visited the newly opened Herndon Jimmy Johns once, and I feel compelled to say "Damn you, Jimmy Johns!". Simple, yummy sandwiches. They're big sandwiches - lots of meat, lots of cheese. If you have a wimpy appetite, you might want to bring a friend and split one and a bag of chips. I had the Beach Club. Turkey, provolone, avocado, cucumbers, and sprouts. The bread on the club-style sandwiches is freakin yummy. The staff behind the counter were super friendly too. Five stars, yet this place freaks me the sweet baby Jesus out. Here's why... The last time I saw something so delicious pumped out so fast with such utter consistency and with such a degree of friendliness, it was in a movie where aliens were actually trying to feed people an "alien food fertilizer" that would prime the human bodies for alien consumption. Humans loved it and devoured the stuff. Then, humans perished. Fail. I'm pretty sure that's not what's going on at Jimmy John's, but this place is scary fast and scary delicious. Ratings for me are relative - I'm looking at "how many stars should I give this place in relation to other sub joints," and not, "how many stars should I give this place in relation to Joël Robuchon in Vegas." As far as sub joints go - easy five stars. The simplicity and consistency of the subs is spot on. The price is totally reasonable. The speed of service - and I'm not kidding when I say this - is so fast it's sometimes a little unnerving, even when I order a sub with some tweaks. Not minutes...seconds. SECONDS! Again, easy five stars...one of my favorite sub shops ever. if your looking for high-end presentation and a wine list, search elsewhere, but if it's bumpin' subs you're looking for...nailed it. I first visited a Jimmy John's in Morgantown, WV while at WVU. I encountered it again in Christiansburg, VA while at Virginia Tech. Their great subs always bring me back. The new one in Herndon is great, and I find myself (and my officemates) ordering here often because of the super quick delivery. Seriously, we usually get our subs in 10-15 minutes, even when we order 4 or 5 at a time.] Recently we had an order that was wrong, and we didn't realize it until after the deliver guy had left. We passed this place coming home the other day, and I got a little over-excited. The first time I had Jimmy Johns was when I went to VT, and was saddened, years ago, when the closest location was in Alexandria. Anyway, these sandwiches are better than your regular subways/quizno's, although they are slightly more expensive. Best part? You can order the sandwich as an "unwich" with a lettuce wrap instead of bread. You'd think this would be messy, but they manage to find lettuce that doesn't fall apart easily when you're eating the 'wich. They don't mess around with soups, salads, wraps, or toasters...just good old fashioned fresh, made-to-order sub-style sandwiches. I think the prices are great and the service even better. Bread is super fresh whether you opt for the French bread or the whole wheat. I also like that for whatever your cause, they have an "UN-WICH," which is a tightly-wrapped lettuce wrap sandwich if you opt for no bread. This location has dedicated employees, friendly and efficient service, and plenty of indoor/outdoor seating and easy parking. My favorite sandwich is the BEACH CLUB because you get awesome avocado, plus high-quality turkey, and some tasty provolone. read more

It's Jimmy John's- their sandwiches are good, consistent, and exactly what I'm looking for when I want a quick healthy-ish lunch. The staff here are great; they're polite, they're quick, and they seem to actually enjoy their jobs (customer service is always much better when people enjoy their jobs). So why 3 stars? There are a number of inconsistencies with this location between what's posted on their website and what they actually go by. Online, their hours are listed as 9am-9pm. On Yelp, it says they're open at 11am. At the restaurant... they have no hours posted. It may not seem like a big deal, until you have a full day planned out and you've agreed to pick up Jimmy John's to hold on to for lunch later BECAUSE their hours were listed at 9am-9pm. At that point, two hours becomes a big deal. They also deliver- but apparently only within the Herndon Parkway? I'm not sure- I haven't quite figured out their delivery radius yet, but I do know that the few times I have tried to get a sandwich delivered to my house (less than 1.5 miles away) I've gotten the "we don't deliver to your location" notice. Bottom line: they're great if you're swinging by for sandwiches at lunch or dinner time, but don't trust whatever is posted on their website- the information is inconsistent. read more

Tried to place an order online and it says there's no delivery in my area. I'm thinking since I live less than a mile away it's a computer gliche so I call and the guy I talk to says that he doesn't understand why it says that but that they definitely deliver to where I live after I gave him my address. Potbelly is my go-to, but Jimmy John's is within walking distance of my office... so today I finally decided to give the latter a shot. It's sort of ironic to be complaining about this (especially given that I specifically went to Jimmy John's because I didn't feel like waiting in the always-long line at Potbelly) but I was literally WHISKED through the sandwich selecting/buying experience. I walked in, told the server behind the counter that I'd never been to a Jimmy John's before, and then next thing I knew, I was back on the sidewalk with a really, really mediocre ham and provolone sandwich in my hand. To be fair, the server seemed really nice, but she was obviously ready to serve me quickly (even though there was no one in line behind me) and she gave me zero indication that, as soon as I said "I think I'll have a... Pepe? No mayo?" the transaction would be all but complete, and no one would ask me if there were any other toppings I wanted to opt in/out of, choices for bread, etc. I could forgive all that though, because I'm fan of the minimalist ham and cheese on baguette... but the beauty of that sandwich depends on the ingredients being good enough to stand on their own. Or the sandwich itself being cheap enough that no one's entertaining any Parisian jambon-fromage fantasies. But mediocre ham and borderline flavorless provolone, on a meh baguette, for seven bucks? This store has probably the nicest staff that i have ever come across when going to a Jimmy John's. When the store first opened i was just amazed because i really liked Jimmy John's when i lived in Illinois, and now to have one less than 5 minutes from my house is kind of dangerous. My favorite part is that whenever someone goes in they are always greeted with a nice friendly smile my the person behind the counter and after ordering they are always told "Have a nice day" and that in its self makes the place a great atmosphere. The commercial got me really excited. You've probably heard it -- people are ordering food and it shows up at their door almost before they put the phone down... I didn't expect it to be that fast, but I did expect something faster than a typical Domino's Pizza order. It wasn't. over 30 minutes to get a sandwich. Still pretty cool that they actually bring you a sandwich though. But the sandwich was nothing special. I opted for whole wheat bread, not realizing that that meant it was no longer a sub. The bread was nice and thick (a single piece of the bread was thicker than the meat and all the toppings, unfortunately), and way too sweet for a savory sandwich. If I were going for a bacon turkey bravo from Panera, then the bread would be OK, but with Italian Dressing and/or Mustard, not so much. Or at least I assume it wouldn't work with mustard or italian dressing -- they would have had to include those items for me to know for sure. I opted for various toppings, including the afore mentioned dressing, but they didn't bother to actually put many of them on the sandwich, and since I only got 2 pieces of turkey on the sandwich I could have used the extra filler. I also had a craving for a nice crunchy dill pickle. Pretty cool that you can ask for the pickle to be whole, halved or quartered. Too bad they couldn't actually pull off the execution. I could see they tried to quarter the pickle, but it looked like they got tired 1/2 way through and decided that was good enough. So I ended up with 1/2 the pickle quartered (1/8ths), and a 1/4 of the pickle uncut. So I guess all told that is fifths? Pretty cool that I got something not even on the menu. But I digress. Even so, the sandwich wasn't horrible, and I'll probably order another one someday, since it is just too cool that they'll bring it to you, but the food here is barely better than Subway at almost double the cost. On second thought, maybe I should just drive to a better sandwich place, like Panera, or Potbelly, or Cosi, or Firehouse, or Jersey Mike's, or Quiznos, or The Deli, or almost any other place in Herndon that serves things between slices of bread. read more

Ordered some subs online during the pandemic for curbside pick up. Arrived at the location and was told I had to come in to pick up order. I walk in and to my surprise, there was a couple sitting down dining in and the worker behind the counter was not wearing a mask. I ended up discarding what I ordered due to what I witnessed and the possibility of spread. Out of all the restaurants in the area taking precautions, I was surprised that this Jimmy John's location was operating as if the pandemic didn't exist. read more

Sometimes you just need something reliable and perfectly basic. For me it's #10 Hunter's Club (roast beef). My boyfriend usually goes for the #17 ultimate porker add provolone. I love everything about this place, the bread, the mayo (I usually get extra), the ratio of meat to veggies. Don't skip on the chips, I love their salt and vinegar. The dill pickles are also super great. Only downside is we live too far for delivery. I love how consistent this chain is, we used to order it all the time in Florida and it tastes just the same up here. Also the ice is nice and small, just the way I like it. Make sure to ask them to cut your sandwich in half, the thirds don't usually end up even. read more
