Sometimes you just need something reliable and perfectly basic. For me it's #10 Hunter's Club (roast beef). My boyfriend usually goes for the #17 ultimate porker add provolone. I love everything about this place, the bread, the mayo (I usually get extra), the ratio of meat to veggies. Don't skip on the chips, I love their salt and vinegar. The dill pickles are also super great. Only downside is we live too far for delivery. I love how consistent this chain is, we used to order it all the time in Florida and it tastes just the same up here. Also the ice is nice and small, just the way I like it. She told me that she does not get to read the Yelp reviews as often as she would like but contacted me immediately when she read my review. She let me know that there have been some management changes at the location and things should improve. She also sent my lunch today to show she was sorry about how my experience had gone. Love this place!! The service is awesome and so is the food. Have a bit to choose from sub wise so there is something for everyone. The atmosphere is also great. Things are fun, light hearted and you can just sit back and relax. I would have given 5 stars but their delivery area is really small. The Herndon store will not deliver to Sterling, only 5 miles away, and sometimes that makes it hard for me to stop by and get something unless I am in the area already. This is my place for work lunch! The Herndon location truly has amazing customer service. When I'm crazy busy at work all I do is call them for my usual, Beach Club with Diet Coke. The Herndon Jimmy Johns has become the official hang-out of our Little League baseball team. They have plenty of seating for both the kids and adults. One of the managers promised our team a free cookie when we finally won a game (we've been having a rough season) but she wasn't there when victory finally graced our team. But the on-duty manager did make a point to come over to the adults' table and thank us for coming so often. He then gave all the adults free sub coupons. The subs are good, better than Subway. But they are a bit pricier, too, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. I ordered the "Big John" every time I went and, unlike a previous poster, I was not disappointed by the meat, which I thought was plentiful. Absolutely delicious!! I always love a sub from here. I used to eat Jimmy Johns about 10 years ago when I lived in Chicago. And then when I saw this one open up in my area I was so excited! My favorite sub is the Bootlegger with turkey and roast beef - SO good! Super fast and every time I have gone there (so far!) they have been very nice. A little light on selection but the service is friendly and extremely fast. I actually get find myself having a harder time figuring out what I want when there is less on the menu. Hi, I went today in the late afternoon and ordered their JJBLT. I didn't realize that their sub roll,(which is very fresh and yummy), was served cold (not toasted) for a BLT. There were maybe 2 slices of bacon on the sandwich and had to peel apart the bread just to find a couple thin slivers of tomato. Apparently they don't toast bread there which I didn't realize even for a BLT. I've always loved their other sandwiches but have to say I was a bit disappointed with this sandwich. Between the price of the sandwich ($5.49 for basically bread with mayo and a smidge of bacon, lettuce and tomato), med drink ($1.79), and chips ($1.35) (subtract 20 cents for combo) plus 70 cents for tax I paid $8.99 for this and that was a waste of money. Their other sandwiches are very good though. FYI Jimmy Johns: A BLT is made on TOASTED bread; bacon should be more than a couple slices and it should have a couple hearty slices of tomato. An ideal BLT has toasted bread and the bacon is warm. When a person orders a BLT there at JJs maybe they should be told at the time of ordering that their bread is not toasted so a person would know up front. Ordered two sandwiches and asked for one with little mayo, the other with none (sub mustard). Got two mayo sandwiches (with a side of turkey and smattering of lettuce), and random peppers on both (?). So since there was no one else there to mix up orders, either the employees can't read or they choose to ignore the tickets. I'm sick and can't ingest huge amounts of mayo and stray hot peppers so regardless there's really no good excuse for me not being able to eat my dinner. Gotta love that feeling of sheer disappointment when you realize they forgot half of your order...a restaurant that specializes in delivery should have a better method of ensuring that ALL products in each order are sent out for delivery. I was looking forward to a quick and easy lunch from Jimmy John's. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed when I waited for my delivery for over 30 minutes, only to find out they had forgotten half my order. Not to mention, the ice in my soda had completely melted, leaving my soda watery and flat-tasting. Subs are always SUPER FRESH!! I hope they plan on opening more locations in the DMV. Music is way too loud but thats how it is in these joints. This Jimmy-Johns is directly next to a Panera, across the parking lot from The Deli, across the street from Quiznos, and down the street from Santinis. Put simply: It offers nothing over these superior delis (ok, I wouldn't call Quiznos superior). I went there when The Deli was closed and ordered the roast beef. Grey, not pink, dry, and sliced more thickly than I like it. Oh ya, and not much meat. The Deli's roast beef is consistently medium to medium-rare, the bread & toppings are far superior, and they're locally owned! While I've heard of the chain before, I knew nothing about their food. My office ordered food from Jimmy John's, and I got the #11 (Country Club) with no tomatoes. I was pleasantly surprised. For my department, we ordered nearly 15 sandwiches. Instead of all of the sandwiches being thrown together in a haphazard sort of way, they were nice. My particular sandwich had turkey, ham, provolone, lettuce, and mayo. I liked the amount of mayo, not too much, not too little. The lettuce wasn't falling everywhere when I tried to take a bite. The meats tasted fresh. It was convenient to eat and work at the same time without worrying about bits going everywhere. For my first time trying Jimmy John's, I'm very happy. I'll definitely be trying more sandwiches on the menu. read more

The lettuce wrap option put J J into 5 stars for me. They do a quality job in that they use multiple leaves of the lettuce for strength. They then use a half wrap of paper for you to hold as you eat. It's a slick solution to a healthy request! read more

I only really go to 2 sub shops. 1) Subway when I want to eat healthy and 2) Jimmy John's when I want to indulge. Quizno's is hit or miss depending on the location, Firehouse Subs is worth checking and Potbelly, in my opinion is pretty weak. I've tried the Gargantuan, The Club Lulu, The Beach Club and the Italian Night Club. All of 'em are fantastic. The bread really makes the sub, an area where Subway and Potbelly really need improvement. read more

Poor customer service. When we went to order the man taking our order didn't say a single word, simply typed our order into the computer and handed us a receipt. We didn't even receive a "hello" or "thank you" during our visit. On top of the poor customer service we found out after we got home that our beachclub sandwich was missing avocado... If ordering curbside make sure to remind them again. Was told that it would be 5 minutes, after waiting 15 minutes I called back to remind them I was here. Which I explained to the girl when ordering that I was already parked in front of their entrance. The manager immediately came out with my sandwich. Right away I knew it was wrong as I ordered an unwich and could tell there was bread.... Soooo I go into the store which I was avoiding in the first place. As I was expressing my annoyance to the manager he tells me to calm down, I was pretty taken back by this since I was calmly explaining that I now have 5 minutes left for my break to eat and get back. He then offers a free cookie or chips... hello I just ordered an unwich so I don't want carbs. Then asks me what do I want when I had already suggested you can give me the sandwich free since this took over 20 minutes to handle! Totally frustrating, love their Italian nightclub hence the 2 stars, but the customer service at this location is horrible. This store needs more training. I own a business here in the same center.
