It's right in the middle of the Reston town center. You'd have to park on the street or at one of the parking lots. You place order at one of the four tablets. There wasn't much chance to interact with the staff to comment on the service. The place is big and has plenty of seats but it was mostly empty. It was pretty clean. How was the burger? It was mid - nothing memorable but also not bad. It's good for a quick bite. It's shake shack. I'm not expecting too much. The fries were off though. Subpar. This was my second time here, and both times were disappointing. I ordered the veggie sandwich this time and the mushroom burger the first time with fries, but both times the food was very dry and they skimped out on the lettuce, and veggies, not to mention and the buns were small. The food was dry and lacked zest, and crunch, and they had with no sauces, outside the basic mustard, ketchup, mayo, and some bland ranch and Tabasco. The worst of all was the cost; for such small quantity and poor dull quality, one sandwich and small fries was ~$16. Nando's would have been a significantly better alternative; they have a variety of sauces/flavors, a unique vibe, ample veggie options, zest and more quantity for what you pay. This place looks nice and clean, but the quality and quantity - for what you pay - is lackluster and subpar. Their average ~2 stars I see on here is justified. Maybe just for their shakes they're good, but for their foods, Burger King would even be a better alternative. 1.5 stars. read more

Came in this afternoon to get take out. I ordered an Avocado Bacon burger with Lettuce, Tomato, and Pickles, without cheese or sauce. They got it right without cheese and sauce but left off the Avocado and Bacon -- part of the reason paying for the extra price for those added toppings. I didn't realize until I got back to where I was staying and by then it was far too long to get back to that location. It was indicated on the ticket what I ordered and how I customized. This past Sunday, we decided to try this Shake Shack. We went knowing that they had only been open for a little over two weeks. Thus, we expected that, most likely, they would still be working out the kinks --- and we weren't wrong about that. We arrived around 4:30 p.m., and the place was already doing a brisk business. One can order using touch screens or go to the counter and give their order to an employee. We chose to do the latter. We were given a plaque with a number and told to put it on our table. We found a two-top that only had one chair. Thus, we had to find an unoccupied chair to bring to our table. We waited...and waited for our food. The food seemed to come out in a random fashion. We noticed that some people who were here before us were still waiting for their food, while some who came in after us got theirs first. It took about 20 minutes for our food to arrive. All of these points suggest a chaotic work environment in the back of the house. Orders are not being prepared in the order in which they were placed. We had ordered two single-patty cheeseburgers with lettuce and tomato, and each of us also got a side of fries. When the food finally came, the food runner apologized for the wait. We weren't upset with him as it wasn't his fault. The fries arrived lukewarm, as did the burgers. So...we're going to stay away for quite a while. I suppose we will try it again at a much later time. Just opened so kinks to still work out. Definitely busy which is a good sign for this location. Similar to other locations, one can order online or at the kiosk and pick up at the counter. It does take a while to get your order. Saw a review saying food getting cold at the counter. No such issue for me. Mine just took a while but came out just fine with runner bringing to my table. Added bonus at the location is they pre-pump the ketchup for you for now. Downside for this location is limited seating. But one can always take it to go and eat next to the fountain or across from Barcelona. read more

I've been to Shake Shacks around the country and to three of them in DC over the years. Not the greatest ever but not horrible either. Until now. This is the first one that appears to be essentially automated at dinner time on a Wednesday night. They have ordering screens or you order from the app. That's right no one is there to take your order. It's only ordering screens, which is different than every other Shake shack that I've ever been to. You order, pick a number placard and 10-15 min later (even when not crowded), somebody brings your food. There were three employees and none seemed to have even basic language or social skills. In our case, we ordered the fried pickles with ranch sauce as a side and they didn't bring the ranch sauce. When we asked for it they seemed genuinely perplexed. They also don't bring out napkins, forks or knives. The burger tasted OK but was kind of shriveled. My wife had a chicken burger and it was mediocre. She probably could've gotten something better at Popeyes. This is clearly the worst Shake Shack by far that I have ever been to. Given it's in a high-profile location (Reston), I'd say they have laid an egg here, and unless they get their act together relative to the food and the staffing and allow people to order at the counter, they will be out of business in six months and deservedly so. On top of this, the prices are not that much less than what the Counter (the former occupant) offered, and the Counter had a great bar, nice staff, TVs and a more comfortable ambience. Sadly, the Counter is pretty much out of business except in California, Hawaii and 3 airports in the US. Instead of this place, try Z burger or Five Guys or Big Buns. Try just about any other burger place than this . That's my story and I'm standing by it. On a scale of 1 to 10 my wife gave it -1. I'm being charitable and giving it one star. read more

you can't ever go wrong with shake shack! i usually get a chicken sandwich, but i tried a shackburger this visit and it was really good. i dined in and ate my meal there, so everything was fresh and still at the perfect temps. service was good and the place was clean. the only thing is the price $22 for a burger, fries and small drink is crazy. read more

Double Burger carryout was good but a bit pricey for the size. Here's the problem..trying to add condiments at home felt like performing burger surgery. By the time I pried the bun apart, everything was glued together like a cheesy mess. Honestly, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to let us just choose condiments at the kiosk so they can throw them on before handing over the burger. Poor and unfriendly service. The fries were cold and there was a hair in the fries and the hamburger order was botched. Obviously the team was not trained well or ready for opening. I brought to Corporates attention and it completely deflected and asked me to write a book on my experience. After posting my first review, I did reach out to their corporate office via email as instructed by them. In return, I did receive a $25 voucher to compensate me for my experience. Against my better judgement, I tried it again. After all what did I have to lose as it would be free. After placing an online order (as I was only 4 blocks away) the food was prompt this time. It may have been because I was just a about the only person there around lunch time when I arrived. Once again, no hello, no welcome, no thanks for coming in. I went to the counter as instructed as I received a text my order was ready. I could see my bag of food behind the counter as it had my name on it. After standing for what seem forever, I contemplated just walking behind the counter and get it. Instead, I waited...and waited....and waited. FINALLY, someone came to the service counter. I told them my name. The person turned around, grabbed my bag and handed it to me. Not a word was said by this person....again no...thank you for being a customer....have a nice day ..or even hello. As for the food, just read my first opinion. I did walk 4 blocks back before eating..but the food was already cold. I know as I tried a french fry as I exited the place. Again no taste...nothing just blah. The burgers were again crunchy and just no taste. You can't put condiments on the burger because it is fused together and by the time you get it, it is one steamed mess. I do not know why you just can't order a burger with condiments on it.
