Stopped in for dinner tonight and watched the owner man pull two staff members aside (aka right behind our table) and we could hear every word he said. He called the women morons and said his employee needs to learn English. He berated them right in front of us to the point where it was extremely uncomfortable. After we left, it looked like he started yelling loudly at them and getting in their face through the window as there were no other customers. Not a good experience at all. We bought six burgers, and every single one of them had a soggy, drenched, bottom bun. Couldn't even eat it. When you buy a burger at what's supposed to be something better than a Burger King or McDonald's, you expect to eat the burger without it falling apart or being drenched by Burger juice so that you can't really eat it unless you have a knife/fork. There's lot of seating and friendly staff. This is my go to place when I'm craving a burger. The burgers are great and aren't greasy. My preferred option is the #2 cheesy. They have options to request fries, onion strings or even sweet potato fries. All have been wonderful. This location also has an option to sit outside, which is great. I have visited this establishment for many hears and must say that for the most part this restaurant is great. The food is absolutely fresh, the serving portion, the way the food is delivered is absolutely great. I like this spot. I've been to Burger21 numerous times. When they first started piping up in the area I used to love it. However, over the course of the years I feel that the quality has gone down a bit. I still prefer there's Burger over most places. The service is fairly quickly for a cheesy burger and sweet potato fries it was around a 15 minute wait. The pricing is average it's around $12-25 a person. This spot has indoor and outdoor seating. Good ambiance. I also got a chocolate milk. However, it was just regular milk with chocolate syrup put in a soda cup. read more

I found this spot as it is across the street from a client I am in state for on a large IT project. Having a cool local spot to try out is always a okie for me!! I popped in a con worker and found it be with a cool vibe and felt "local" despite having an order at the counter experience like some of the nation wide chains. Where the burgers all sounded amazing to me while gawking at the menu I was in for lunch and wanted a lighter option. I was happy to see some salads on the menu that sounded as enticing as the burgers. Solid burgers hereeeee. Good sized burgers with interesting toppings creations. I got the Tex Mex Haystack during my last visit because I figured the jalapeño would make a nice kick. It was pretty good with the guacamole but I can always go for the timeless cheesy bacon burger or their special 101 burger at any time. As a side, we couldn't decide between fries or onion strings so we got the shareable "half and half" which gave us both! They were lightly seasoned and I think the onion strings had a nice, spiced (maybe an onion/garlic spice?) batter. They have a hand washing station near the entrance which I think is the greatest thing ever as an avid hand washer. There's about 10 different sauces available - you gotta try them all! They range from a little spicy to sweet. My favorites are the 101 sauce and the Cajun spice. Also, the staff there are uber nice. I think it's the manager that I always see there (normally all dressed in black behind the pickup counter) and he is SO nice and always all smiles. I always was a huge fan of burger 21. Today I took my toddler there for a nice and great burger. I first start with positive comments. It's amazing that they have a hand washing place in front of the door. Place was clean, outdoor seating was nice and clean. The staff behaviour was good. Now the negative comment. Our burgers were wayyyyyyy salty that we couldn't finish them. My toddler just took a bite and didn't touch her rest of food. I had to drink water after every bite. Before leaving the place, I told the cashier that looks like someone accidentally poured huge amount of salt in the meat, and instead of tossing it, they cooked it. I paid almost $18.00 for a good fries and two very salty non-edible burgers. read more

These folks hands down have the best strawberry malts... not on the menu but just ask... it's just a strawberry shake with malt added Each quarter they do a specialty burger... at the time of this review it's a bayou burger... amazing flavors that included a andouille sausage and turvey burger topped with a Cajun slaw and shrimp.... add remoulade and Siracha (I had it on the side to control the heat).... killer combo of flavors Hubby had his fav which is the patty melt with no remoulade. Love the onion strings but at times the kitchen is a little heavy on the salt. Thinks I don't like are their booths as the seats tend to slide plus you feel the person behind you if they bounce.... negative issues if your like me with back problems. Service folks are attentive ... sometimes to much as they try and clear things away.... appreciate them coming around but a little less frequently would work. B21 has always been our go to for burgers. I've gone to this location when they first opened but never did a review. The quality is top notch with the menu options being awesome, especially for a vegetarian. This location, the service is lacking. I'm in the middle of a water fast but was taking my son out for dinner and the cashier reminded me that I didn't order anything. I also wanted tea with no sweeteners and accidently ordered one that just said tea and asked the worker and he said I picked the right one which I informed him that it was not. Lastly, my son's shake never showed up and he had to go back when he was finishing his fries to ask for his shake. There were like 5 tables with people - not busy. All this with the fact that B21 ain't cheap, in spite of the quality, bad service is not worth it. We'll try Ashburn next time which is our usual go to location. read more

Hubs and I are on somewhat of a mission to find the best tasting burger in Northern VA. Burger 21 is safely in our top 10. The place boasts about their 100% certified Angus beef patties that are molded by hand, and the quality ingredients they use in all their offerings, and their "hand-spun milkshakes". They do an excellent job of selling quality and, in our opinions, they deliver. There are 21 burger choices on the menu (hence the name), ranging from all-beef patties to veggie patties. I settled on the 'Shroom Burger, which came as close to perfect as you might imagine: meaty, fatty, juicy and packed with flavor. It's well-built with mushrooms, caramelized onions, gooey Swiss cheese, garlic aïoli, and a slice of tomato, on a brioche bun. With thin, crispy sweet potato fries, this was a very satisfying burger. My husband was pretty happy with his OMG burger, a double stacked beauty that comes with red onions, your choice of cheese, and bacon on brioche. He ordered his with American cheese and held off on the bacon. The restaurant also offers a number of specialty sauces. This is probably the only place in the country where you will find toasted marshmallow sauce, which you may want to add to your burger or use as a dipping sauce for your fries (which is what we did). The restaurant is impressively clean, a welcome change from other burger chains. The Sterling location even has a sink conveniently located between the eating area and the exit, for people to wash up as they leave. This has definitely become one of our favorites. The last time I went to a Burger 21 was a few years ago. It was the one in Ashburn and we found it to be "A-Okay". We gave this location in Sterling enough time to get its act together before going. We were here on a Sunday around 5:30 p.m. There was only one party ahead of us in line. The cashier was very friendly and did her job quite well. I ordered the 101 Burger which comes with lettuce and tomato. For a little extra money, you can customize it. I added American cheese to mine. My husband also ordered the same burger but didn't add anything extra to his. He also got a side order of onion strings. We shared the onion strings and both of us liked them. They were very thin and crispy plus properly salted. To drink, I splurged and got an orange float. The last time I had a float was when I had a root beer one at the Ashburn location. I remembered that they had an interesting way of making floats. They put soft serve vanilla ice cream in a cup that is done in such a way that there is a well in the middle. You are also given a bottle of Boylan soda which you add to the ice cream yourself. I did like the orange float as it reminded me of a creamsicle. The vanilla soft serve actually had a very distinct vanilla flavor to it. My husband got a bottle of Boylan grape soda for his drink as he literally hadn't had grape soda in years. The burgers here, to us, seemed to be tastier this time around. They were cooked to a perfect medium in temperature and were juicy. My husband thought they had a nice, beefy flavor to them. Service, all round, was excellent. When you order, you are given a number on a stand to place on your table. The employee who brought us our meal was very polite and friendly, he even asked us if we needed anything else. At some point the manager stopped by to ask how everything was. Employees were quick to clear our tables when we were finished. My husband didn't care for any of the condiments that were available to put on his burger. He was looking for plain old mayo but all they had were flavored varieties. We both thought that the dining room here was on the small side. The layout at the Ashburn location is actually more sensible when it comes to traffic flow. Just note---that some burgers come with preset toppings. If you are looking to customize your burger, the Burger 101 is what you should order. They also offer up chicken sandwiches, turkey burgers, tuna burgers, veggie burgers and hot dogs. This place is decent. They have a lunch special Monday to Friday for $10.99 where you can get fries and a drink with any craft burger except seafood and #21. My daughter ordered the Monterey Chicken burger. It looks delicious but pay close attention before ordering items other than ground beef burgers. The key word in the description is "patty". My daughter got this under the assumption that it would be a grilled chicken breast and ignored the fact that the description says it is a chicken patty. This was literally ground UNSEASONED chicken, breaded and fried. I guess they assumed all the other toppings would overshadow the absence of flavor in the chicken patty. She said it was just like eating a Tyson's chicken patty and took her back to when she was in middle school eating frozen chicken patty sandwiches. The burger was delicious and if you taste it blind-folded, you never could tell it's a veggie burger. Once my cleanse is over on March 17th, I will look at the other burger items. Half and half fries gave the best of both worlds with regular and sweet potato pairings. You can use the many options of sauces from their sauce station (chipotle sauce and honey mustard are my go-to's). Had the black and bleu sliders and the sliders were like hockey pucks, they definitely were not blackened and they were very overcooked. The hawaiian roll buns were good. Sweet potato fries were tasty, but could have been warmer. Fried onions were very greasy. They have a lot of sauces but they are nothing special. Most are just generic (i.e. Heinz) brand, so that was disappointing. As were the drinks, Coke products, nothing unique. This is a run of the mill burger place that charges premium pricing and is not worth it. My 3 mini-sliders (which were not filling at all), half and half fries and lemonade was over $17. The girl working the register was delightful, and several staff members (including a Manager) checked in throughout the meal. I ordered the #2 (Cheesy) and my husband got the #7 (Tex Mex Haystack). Both burgers were hot, fresh, juicy, delicious, AMAZING! Despite us both ordering them cooked medium-well, they were flavorful and juicy -- a lot of burger places will only taste good if you order Medium or rarer. I also found the size/portion of these burgers to be excellent for me; personally I do not like a 1/2+ pound burger, that is simply too much food for me. We added-on the Ale Fries with Cheese sauce and it did not disappoint. I loved it. The only thing we didn't get to try were the Milkshakes - next time. OH, and this is small but made for a pleasant ending -- there is an actual sink so that you can wash your hands near the exit. Just a minor detail that I really appreciated. The grand opening is on August 22nd. I got to attend the VIP event and try out there food. The staff was attentive and super friendly. I got the cheesy burger, sweet potato fries, and cookies & creme shake. The burgers are cooked to your preference (I'm taking a star off because mine wasn't cooked well done, but the VIP event was free so I kept it). They also offer about eight different dipping sauces -- I tried Thai ketchup and chipotle mayo for fries -- pretty good. I'd definitely come here again. read more
