I came in hoping for a great burger experience with good value, but this place fell far short. While I was trying to figure out how to order on their self‑service screens, four employees stood at the register area completely ignoring me--huddled together, focused on their phones. It felt like there were too many workers, too many ordering stations, and not enough actual attention to customers. The basic deluxe burger was disappointing: small, dry, overly salty, and not filling. Most of the other menu items were noticeably overpriced. I actually left and went to Wendy's afterward because I was still hungry. The burger itself was average at best--boring, with very sparse condiments. Cleanliness was another issue. Several tables had salt and food remnants left behind from previous customers. Drinks were overpriced, served in very small cups, and the water option was warm with no ice and even smaller cups. They also had no working internet connection; staff told me to connect to the store next door, but that didn't work either. I didn't see any older or experienced manager on duty, which may explain the lack of oversight and the overall condition of the store during my visit. If they continue operating like this, I don't see how they'll survive in this market. read more

All of you know about Shake Shack by now! So I'm not going to talk about the brand! It's SOLID Most of their locations that I've been too was far away from where I live so I wasn't going there frequently but this one is 10 minutes away from me and in the heat of Fairfax! This location is brand new, spacious, amazing design, always clean, clean bathroom and plenty of parking! The staff are nice, the service is quick and my only problem with them which happened to people in front of me, is how they profile the customers to who might be an Uber eats driver and who is not! A complete unacceptable behavior that actually resulted in the food getting stolen!! Can you believe it? The staff member told a guy, are you an Uber eats driver, the guy said yes, took the food and he is not a driver! The same staff member told a very pretty girl who is coming to pick up an Uber eats order " oh !!! You don't look like an Uber eats driver!!" Woooow!! This isn't acceptable but I won't deduct stars because in general this is my favorite location in the DMV! But this kind of PROFILING needs to stop and NOW! Uber eats driver will show you the order on the phone!! You don't need to look for them! Stop!!! One more time STOP! STOOOP! ok ? I love using their app, I order 6 to 8 minutes ahead, leave my house and find my food ready or about to be placed on the shelf! Whether I'll dine in and enjoy the vibes or I'll take it home, the food temperature is fantastic and hot enough to stay fresh till I go home! Fantastic! My two "smashed" burger patties were burned to "potato chip" crispy... The fries were mediocre and cheesy fries should be more than putting a pile of hot fries in a tiny box and laying a slice of cheese across the top. It was completely awkward to even try to eat them even with a fork. I have to say that this is the worst fast food meal that I've had probably in my life and I'm pretty old. read more

First of all, ordering using the app was not very smooth with this Shake Shack location. I got error messages and had to try several times. Finally my order went through. My double Shack Burger patties were way overcooked. It looked like mostly burnt. The double shack burger was delicious, as always. I liked their onion rings too, and the chicken shack was juicy, well seasoned and pretty crunchy! I had a very disappointing experience at this Shake Shack location. During my visit, I noticed a sanitation concern at the water dispenser area, where the drain underneath appeared to have visible mold or heavy grime. I politely asked an employee if I could get water from the soda fountain instead due to this concern. Instead of addressing it professionally, the employee responded in a dismissive and confrontational way and told me not to speak about it in the store. I felt uncomfortable raising a basic concern about cleanliness, especially while I had my children with me. The interaction made me feel uneasy and discouraged from speaking up. I did not feel comfortable using the water source afterward. At one point, I also noticed the manager on site seated in the dining area observing the space after my interaction, which added to my discomfort. I cannot speak to intent, but it contributed to my feeling of being watched during the visit. Additionally, my child accidentally spilled water, and while I attempted to clean it up, I was told not to worry about it and was quickly redirected in a way that felt dismissive. I did report the issue to corporate and received a refund, but I believe customer concerns--especially those related to sanitation--should be handled with professionalism, respect, and calm communication. read more

This is a newly opened branch in Kamp Washington, Fairfax VA. I went there with my husband on a Saturday. The place is easy to access with plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is spacious with four kiosks to order POS. The burger was descent. I really like mine beefy with plenty of pickles and fresh ingredients. On a different day, on Thursday during lunch, I find their app is a bit temperamental when one of my colleagues payment did not go through and had to go on site to order and waited for 15 minutes. Another colleague had her burger incomplete with no ketchup, onion tomatoes and other embellishments which she already specified in the app. My lettuce wrapped burger was ok, super messy and the lettuce wilted. I haven't always been a big fan of Shake Shack, and my experiences at other locations in the past were just okay. However, we decided to give the new Kamp Washington location a try, and I'm glad we did. The food was genuinely tasty, and even on a busy evening our order was ready in a reasonable amount of time--definitely under 15 minutes. My only minor complaints are that the bathrooms looked a bit worn and were out of soap, and the condiment setup felt less accessible than at other fast-food spots. That could just be because we're not familiar with the layout yet. Since this is a fairly new location, I'm assuming they're still working through a few kinks. Don't order takeout via the app at this store. Twice now, I've placed an order, gone to pick it at the designated time it was supposed to be ready. As I arrived the order was ready to go with the exception of the onion rings, which they proceed to prepare as the rest of my order sits and gets cold (approximately 12 minutes). By the time I get home (5 minute drive) the onion rings are warm and the remainder of the order is cold. This has happened twice in a row, and I have witnessed it both times. This relatively new branch has finally settled in. The service was fast and friendly-- none of the delay problems reported earlier on Yelp. We were there at lunch hour and few tables were filled, and only two couples were waiting. Everyone's food came out quickly and was brought to their table. The shack burgers were similar to those in NYC, and the onion rings were crisp and tasty. The big hit was my husband's strawberry shake which he declared was better than the burgers or onion rings! ( he is an expert on good shakes-- a passion of his for 50 years.) You can bus your own dishes, leaving your table clean for the next person. Went here today for lunch. It was a Friday during the lunch rush and it was very busy inside. The manager informed customers multiple times that the restaurant was busy and how long the wait times were. He was very polite and warm. Clearly also working very hard. When the food arrived, he delivered it personally to our table. It was perfectly presented and tasted great. Exactly as advertised.
