Honestly I feel like the name is overhyped. I tried Shake Shack right when it opened at Mosaic, hoping to avoid the rush, and get the freshest ingredients. I know there's a standing rivalry between shake shack and 5guys, but honestly JUST GO TO 5Guys! Run there! The lettuce, tomato, onion were fresh, and the potato bun was so soft and delicious but besides that, it was so MID. The burger patty was super flatten with no seasoning, and the fries were such a let down. The fries tasted like the ones you can buy frozen and air fry yourself but with more salt. It was so dry and did not taste fresh. I've had better fries literally any where else. Restaurant didn't seem busy so we decided to stop in for a quick bite. You place the order on a tablet once you enter and then the wait begins. We went to wash our hands and there are went tissues and cups on the floors of the bathroom. We waited about 20 minutes for the food to arrive. As you can tell from the photo the toppings were stall and the end pieces. The ketchup dispenser was empty and nobody at the counter seemed to care. Not the absolute worst food experience for the month. At least there was no hair in our food so I give them 2 stars. Luckily Fairfax hospital ER is nearby in case my gf ate the cheese we didn't order which was on her sandwich. They need to send these employees to Chikfila to learn service and quality. Ordered through DDash and this didn't disappoint. It was my first time eating a Shake Shack meal and the person I was with me on this business trip had a craving. I ordered the Black Truffle Shack Stack: Angus burger topped with gruyere cheese, a crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses, topped with black truffle sauce, on a toasted potato bun. It was absolutely amazing. Cheesy, mushroomy, and savory. Umami satisfaction on a bun. I can't remember the price, it certainly wasn't cheap, but I don't want to misquote because it probably was jacked up due to the delivery service. My only complaint . . . it was a limited time item. My first time EVER to a shake shack. I ordered a veggie burger with avocado and a dairy free chocolate shake! I was super happy with the quality of the veggie burger itself. It was not as crumbly as most others are and had a very good texture. I'm also very happy with the dairy free shake as well. It was indulgent, so I was happy to split it with my husband. Now I did think that the service to food was a little slow, we waited a little over 15 mins Overall, I would come back, and make 2x modifications, no American cheese on the burger and I would try either extra salt on the fries or the bbq fries next time. We waited 25 minutes for a shack stack with a lettuce bun, which was the only thing that I ordered. There was only another family inside. Inside looked pretty clean from the outside, but when I have to wipe down my own table with my own disinfectant wipes, I definitely have to deduct a star... Ian wanted a burger. So, we walked to Shake Shack on a humid evening. A/C inside was a welcome respite! We ordered at the Kiosk. Process is easy. We helped ourselves to the condiments while our food was being prepared. Since we are not much soda drinkers, we asked for couple of cups for water. I really like their milkshakes, which are a great option if you're not in the mood for a burger. That said, their smash-style burgers are also quite good. While a bit pricey, they're definitely a step up from your typical fast-food joint. The restaurant itself is clean and bright. Here, they had no numbers for the ordering kiosks, trays were stacked high at the garbage area, the tables were dirty and there was trash on the floors. Even the napkin dispensers were empty (they had somehow run out, per the staff). So I have bern here three times so far. Once on my own, another time with somebody else, and then a third by myself but for Takeout. The first two times were flawless. It was empty and on a weekday so my order came out hot and ready. I like how they have kiosks in the main entrance. It's pretty efficient. I hadn't had Shake Shack in years, not since they opened the one in Coral Gables, FL by University of Miami. I had been craving a burger for quite some time after not having had any for a good while. This hit the spot. The first two times were perfect. My order was correct. It came out in a timely manner. The burger was hot and the bun was toasted to perfection. The fries were crinkly and my shake was heavenly with that smooth and creamy custard taste that Shake Shack is known for. The third time did not go as smooth as the last but this was on a weekend. I went to order takeout but three of the four kiosks where you place your order were down, technical issue perhaps? There were no numbers left to take to indicate what your order is as they usually have them as table signs or take out markers. The restaurant was pretty busy. My order took about an hour to be prepared. I think patience is a virtue and having come from a hospitality background, there could be a slew of reasons why they were backed up. Maybe they were short staffed? I am not sure. The manager made up for it by giving us a voucher for a complimentary burger. I returned again after a 4th time and the wait was fine, 5-10mins at most and the burger was just as good as the last time. I took a star off for the wait, but it was a Saturday when that mishap occurred. It's understandable. That's life. There are more pressing matters in the world than waiting for a burger, but hopefully the wait can be resolved for the future just so operations run smoothly in the kitchen and the crowd control can be managed because people were piling up pretty rapidly in the waiting area and I am pretty easygoing customer, but other people, not so much, especially families with kids. I appreciate the manager taking accountability though and giving those waiting like myself vouchers. I will def be back. I also forgot to mention they sell red and white wine! In a can, mind you! After my last review, it appears that significant changes have been made to improve both speed and customer service. All self-order kiosks were operational on one visit and 2 of the 4 on another visit...and are in constant use by customers. Staff is both friendly and attentive. On the first of these follow-up visits, I ordered a double patty bacon cheeseburger with peppers and shallots, fries, chicken bites and a chocolate/vanilla shake. All were perfect and full of flavor! On the second follow-up, I tried the Avocado Bacon Chicken Sandwich and Cherry Hibiscus Lemonade for the first time. Both also great, well packaged, as well as photo ready. The avocado slice was a little thin compared to the beauty shot in the menu, but that's not a surprise. Of course, I ordered some fries and a shake to go along with my meal...this time chocolate. Speed could still be improved - but no orders were sitting half assembled, some improvements still need to be made to the order pick up process, and the structural changes suggested would help the overall experience, but overall, quite a difference within a short time. The first of these visits was at a peak time on a Saturday, and despite the constant orders, things were going smoothly. The second I had low expectations as I half expected to be come upon a locked door as they were less than 15min from closing, but I was able to order from the server (as well as a number of customers after me) with no problems and with a smile. For some reason the smartphone app cut off orders at an hour before closing. I also was able to see that ordering through the app is 8-10% more expensive than direct orders. All-in-all, the stars speak for themselves. From a summed experience of 2 stars up to 4 stars. Great progress! I'll be visiting more frequently - with confidence now - as this location progresses toward that fifth star! read more

My favorite shake shack location! Soooo happy they're in Mosaic. It's such a spacious store and it feels clean. The burgers are amazing and high quality. The only thing I didn't like was the menu placement. It's on the wall but too small/far away, so it's a bit hard to read when standing at the register to order. Nothing beats being down the road from Shake Shack. It's fantastic to catch a movie and easily grab a bacon burger, shake, or cheesy bacon fries before or after. The food consistently hits the mark, especially the shakes. It's an incredible option for late-night cravings. It'd be fantastic if you could consider staying open past 10 PM on weekends. Please! We really need a go-to place for snacks after drinks at the mosaic bars. The chocolate Oreo funnel cake shake is incredible, and so are the bacon cheesy fries. Shake Shake never misses when it comes down to the food. With this new location location in Mosaic, it has been great so far from my experience. The Food: I went with the double stack avocado bacon burger with a side of crinkle cut fries. The burger was nicely cooked and delicious as always. The fries were crisp and paired with with the shack sauce. The Service: for this location, they had multiple ordering kiosks for you to use, but there was one register taking orders as well. Besides the drink, I totally recommend this place! Drink: The mango passionfruit drink is very basic, barely tasting any mango in it. I'm not sure if it's the same for other locations, but I don't recommend it. Everything else: This is one of the bigger shake shacks with self kiosks and lots of open space with the high ceilings. This was understandable since they were packed and were also dealing with making delivery orders. However, order pickup was a bit chaotic. People were crowding around the counter and condiment counter, waiting to hear their name to pick up their order. It'd be nice if there was a better order pickup system in place. While the wait can be long, the burgers at this shake shack location are consistently amazing. They always hit the spot when you're craving one (or more). They called their friend Mo (Mohammed) - an employee over. I asked Mo if they allowed vaping in the restaurant. He stated he was unaware of the vaping policies. He sent his manager Kayla over, and she too, said she was not sure. I pointed out they were not customers of SS and were in fact violating the VA Clean Air Act...assuming that neither employee nor manager were aware of this policy I question whether any person on premises possesses a Food Handler permit. read more

I made this known to the cashier and returned the burger, to only be returned a burger less than a minute later. They only removed the tomatoes from the original burger and put onions on it. I went ahead and ordered a second burger with only lettuce, and when they brought it out it had three bacon bits on the bottom of the bun. I got a refund and left. People love Shake Shack. I think Shake Shacks addition to the shopping center is exciting even though there is one a few miles away in Tysons. People love Shake Shack. I hate to admit it but while I worked in Tysons Ive only had their chicken nuggets and milkshakes, never their famous burgers or fries. Swung by with my husband after the farmers market and saw that they took over the old Choolah spot (RIP). They redid some of the decor but took advantage of the large airy space which is nice since a lot of the restaurants in Mosaic can feel small/crowded which deters me from wanting to go. Only 2 kiosks were working and 1 would work all the way until it asked for payment the bug out and cancel your order. This couple next to us tried 3 times and were so frustrated they just left.. understandably. We ordered the hot ones burger, shroom burger, fries and some soda. Burgers were both very good but the fries were fantastic. I'm typically not a fan of crinkle fries, I think they're the worst type of fry next to a mushy waffle fry but these were 10/10. Tables could use more attention but there was a ton of foot traffic I'm sure for a Saturday afternoon that they didn't have a chance to reset the dining area.
