I can't really hate because there is one conveniently located near my work and near my house! I am truly spoiled to have Panera so close by! Current Fave: Soba noodles. I love the dressing and the texture the noodles and the spinach both bring to the dish! Current soup fave: Creamy tomato. I was never a fan until my BF told me to eat it with the bread! I'm very pleased with the food and service that's at this particular Panera restaurant ; however, the amount of groups and individuals that use this restaurant as a board room for studying or individual studying is absolutely unacceptable. There's usually never any room for my family when we try to eat at this particular restaurant. Do they know what they are doing? Walked up and ordered a free reward bagel today. Waited at the store for 45 minutes for a bagel. They finally figured out they either lost our order or ran out of bagels because we waited so long for it and everybody else after us would walk up and get their order while we kept waiting and waiting. This is your typical Panera Bread location. Was craving their Fontina Grilled Cheese, so I swung by to pick up dinner. Because I was so hungry, I also decided to get their new Strawberry Chicken Poppyseed Salad, which was so good. Deducting a star since whenever they ask me for my loyalty rewards card, I normally don't have it and they'll ask for the phone number linked to my account. This happened to the couple right next to me at the cash register over. Immediately after, the manager asked if I had my card and I told him no. Did he ask for my number? 2pm on a Sunday, five employees (that I saw with my own eyes), not a single person in line, and a half full dining room. You would think I could locate a clean effing table to sit down at, right? Wrong. Every table that seats more than two people is either occupied or dirty, and I'm not talking one or two tables either. I counted seven tables with food and/or soiled dishes on them. Funny, considering every employee I've seen (with the exception of the girl making a new pot of tea) is literally doing nothing. I love Panera, but this is just embarrassing. Whoever is in charge here needs to clean house or pay better attention because this is just sad. I cleaned my own table for my group to sit at, no joke. Took the dirty plates to the trash and wiped it down with a wet napkin. I was halfway through my soup before I saw anyone come and clean the remaining dirty tables. Came here around 10:30am on a Friday morning, only a few people in line but it sure took a while for people to get their order taken and I soon found out why when it was my turn. Agree with other reviewers about the cashiers being total newbies. I think they really need to spend some more time training them when they're closed or on some dummy register in the back or something. The person taking my order did not seem to know how to ring up any thing and someone else had to basically talk them through each step. And I didn't have a complicated order. And I had to repeat myself several times because she was so fixated on figuring out the register that she would forget what I just said a few seconds ago. I can see how this would get rather annoying and make me want to avoid Panera during very busy times. I got the YOU PICK 2 menu option for dine-in, and picked the cup of tomato soup with half a fontina cheese sandwich. They give you a buzzer thing with an order number that you take to your table and someone then brings you your food. The food came during a reasonable amount of time. The tomato soup was very yummy and I would get that again. The grilled cheese was slightly disappointing, wasn't as flavorful and delicious as another reviewer made it sound. Dipping it in the delicious tomato soup made it better though. The order also came with a large chunk of not-warm bread that I didnt think was necessary because there wasnt all that much soup and it's not like the bread came with butter. I also got a cup of coffee that you get yourself (I picked hazelnut and it was delicious), and not having been to a Panera before, I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that refills are free for dine-in guests. As the seats were also quite comfortable and the tables and carpet clean, I could imagine myself spending many hours in here and utilizing that free coffee refill. Sooo Panera Bread is pretty much Corner Bakery right? lol It's just your average cafe/bakery where you can get a nice quick lunch/dinner. Nothing out of the ordinary I guess. You eat at one of them, you ate at all of them. Anyway, I think Panera Bread is just ok. Came with a friend at night for dinner, and I wasn't that hungry so I went with the soup and salad combo. The "chicken caesar" and the cream of chicken and wild rice soup. The soup was bomb! Also tried my friend's broccoli cheddar, which was also pretty good. Prefer mine more though. The salad..... well it was just pathetic. I'm positive that it said "CHICKEN caesar" but there were 0 pieces of chicken in it. Not sure if they effed up or if it's supposed to be like that for the 1/2 salad deal.... but I wasn't that hungry so I just ate it how it was. Just really wanted some veggies in my body. They got lucky this time. But also the croutons were stale af. So I ate...... lettuce and slices of parm cheese with dressing. It was sad. My friend also had a steak salad with his soup, and that was pretty good. Actually, it was surprisingly good lol. It was piled high with steak! Not bad not bad. For starters they don't open at 7am like how google says or in the entrance. They open up at 8am don't accept cash & you have to order on on the touchscreens. It is very unorganized upon waiting for my order i saw various costumers request refunds either for not having the order right or just not having the items. 30 mins passed and i asked what had happened turns out my order was on a table on the other side i guess that is where you pick up your food hmmm. OK i ordered a Bakers dozen let me tell you the Asiago Cheese Bagels WERE my favorite but today they tasted like if they got the cheese bagels from Costco!! I'm a fan of the food but this occasion to Panara was a little disappointing. I ordered food to go for three on recieving the bag and started to check it was all correct the guy behind the pick up window was quick to snap it's all there in a rude manner. Like some of the other reviewers, I love Panera bread but I don't think I will return to this Monrovia location. The two girls who worked this morning Tuesday around 11 were extremely rude and they just seemed annoyed when we asked them questions about their menu. Furthermore I guess we "annoyed" then even more when we told them that one of our spoons was dirty. I really am disappointed at the quality and service of this place. I came in to redeem my birthday pastry and chose the Apple crunch muffin. I asked if I could get it warmed and was directed to the microwave below the coffee carafes. Also for the month of September 2015, Panera card holders can enjoy a free cup of coffee and I chose iced coffee which is a serve yourself pitcher-type next to the soda dispensers. The coffee was on the strong side (Note to self: return during the workweek). My offspring wanted the mango smoothie and maybe I haven't been to Panera in awhile but I don't remember the serving size being so small. For $4.29 it could've been at least the size of my medium iced coffee. Today's quick visit was salvaged by 2 things: 1. Gina came around with samples of 2 different kinds of breakfast souffles. I also witnessed her ringing up the customer in front of me and she was very calm, patient and helpful as I heard her efficiently help them with their questions and clearly and professionally repeat back their rather lengthy order. 2. Chris actually came by my table as I was leaving to clear it for me. Also asked how my meal was and wished me a good day. I guess I'll give him a pass for that yelp tip I left. I want to give this place four stars. Really, I do. They have amazing food and a great location. But, there are a couple things lacking. First, the self-order system is a mess. The software is easy enough, but it isn't clear what line people should be in if they don't want to use the self-service kiosks. Second, my to-go salad wasn't what I had hoped for. I paid extra for avocado and was left wondering where it was (there were four cubes of avocado). So cheap. Oh, and the lemon the put in my salad so I could garnish it was covered with most of my salad's dressing. Third, the food is very customizable, but they don't include non-dairy options for creamers. Maybe it's available if you ask. I felt that if they put out skim milk, 2% milk, and half & half they could have put out a non-dairy creamer. read more

I love Panera Bread, in general. This is a new branch that just opened on 12/2/13. I was a little worried that they might screw up my order (no dairy) but they didn't and the food was brought out quickly and it was all fresh and clean. The cashiers are still in training and it is probably overwhelming for them to have to deal with the crazy lunch rush, especially in their first week. The other two restaurants, Smash Burger and Chipotle haven't opened yet, so it will be interesting once all three get going. The price is the same as other Panera Breads. I can't wait to come back for lunch with my coworkers soon. pro tip: they have, i think, one of the best pickle spears out there. they only serve it with Cafe sandwiches, but you can request a couple with any order and they will give it to you for free! read more

I have mixed feelings about this cafe. I used to go about once a week and the service and food have been subpar lately. I ordered a chicken sandwich and they served it with turkey instead... do they think people can't tell the difference between chicken and turkey? The next time I ordered a tuna sandwich and the lettuce was dirty, it had mud in between the crevices of the leaves...needless to say I haven't been back. The good thing is that they offer apple/bread/chips as a side, but if you don't tell them your preference they will give you a side of bread with your sandwich :/ management should also look into cleaning the soda machine, the water comes out tasting nasty read more

I am honestly disappointed with this Panera location. They forgot my sandwich when I ordered a pick two of a salad and sandwich, they made my salad wrong, and they also gave me the wrong drink. This has never happened to me before at any other Panera so it was a let down. It doesn't have to be a fancy restaurant to be a nice place for breakfast or brunch, or any time of the day actually. The egg breakfast sandwiches on ciabatta bread are delicious, but they stop serving breakfast at 11am. For any and all other times of the day, you can order a whole sandwich or panini, soup, or salad if you're feeling like eating more of a single menu item, but the You Pick Two combo option is great because you get half a sandwich or panini (my favorites here!) and a soup or salad, or two of each. And however you pair it, your meal comes out to be just under $11 ($7.29 to 9.49 separately). Fountain drinks and iced teas are $2.19 with unlimited refills (iced or hot lattes are $3.49 to 3.99). TIP: if you're getting chips for your side, go for the baked potato chips instead of regular ones because they are so much tastier and less oiler. This Panera has plenty of tables and seats, with fast free wifi in case I have work or studying to do. They recently added automated kiosks at the entrance so you don't have to wait in line to order - and seeing my customization options also allowed me to discover new substitutes for my bread and sides - although sometimes it's still faster to speak to a cashier when you're the only one placing an order. After you order, you take your buzzer to any table and they'll bring out the food for you. Friendly is super friendly, and the coffee and drink fountain machine is always stocked for unlimited drink refills, condiments, and utensils. Parking is a bit difficult though, as all the restaurants in the plaza are busy. read more

I haven't been here for a while, but on my most recent visit I've noticed that the inside of the cafe has been taken over by patrons who buy one item and stay for the rest of the day mooching off the Wifi, leaving booths and spaces unavailable for those like myself who wanted to have lunch on a hot summer afternoon. I ended up finding a small table near the front but it had crumbs from the last patron's meal and was also sticky. This Panera seems short staffed as there was no one who was wiping down tables and only 1 person taking orders at the register (although I ordered my food through the "Fast Lane" kiosks near the front of the store). There needs to be some sort of system that prevents patrons from hogging tables and booths for hours at a time just for the free Wifi so that other patrons can enjoy their lunch inside the cafe. Employees who delivered my food were very friendly and of course the food is great, made with fresh quality ingredients. I just wish I could eat my meal in a comfy and clean booth or table inside the cafe!!!! read more

I have been to many different panera in Southern California and this is probably the worst...I only go here because it's the closest to my home. The general manager is always yelling at his employees...I feel bad for them. The kitchen people can sometimes be grouchy. However, the cashiers are really nice and helpful and are faster at taking your order and moving the line along since they opened. read more

Idk what people are talking about, the service was great! I went here on a Wednesday afternoon 12:15 to be exact and the parking lot was so fullll!!! This building is shared with Menchie's , Smashburger, and the one and only Chipotle! Nearby is the Chilis. So parking can be a hassle, it took me three circles in the lot to just find nearby parking. Anywho, went inside and ordered through the fancy tablet thingies and it's really simple pick your stuff pick whether for here or to go grab a table number thingy and well you know the rest! Went outside to sit and their outdoor seating cause I had my dog and the food came by so super quick! Also the staff was friendly as well, this is gonna be my new favorite panera! read more

We placed a very simple order, 2 fountain drinks, a carrot muffin, and a toasted sesame bagel. Pretty simple you'd think... But I guess it was a little too difficult for the staff. After waiting over 15 minutes for my bagel, we inquired about it. The response from the staff, "oh, we must have forgot." They come out a couple minutes later, but the bagel was barely toasted. The shift manager asked a staff member to toast it a little more, then it's completely charred. More like burnt to a crisp. The manager says, "let me make you a new one," fine, but now I've been waiting over 25 minutes. While waiting, I read over the receipt about if your order isn't right, we'll give you a "treat". None such was offered. Aside from having to wait so long for a bagel, we also had a difficult time finding a clean table. I love the self-pay kiosks so I can quickly get my cup of coffee, really like the self-serve coffee and tea so I can do weird combos of decaf/light roast/hazelnut, free wifi (although kinda unstable connection), comfy chairs, and many more food options (not to mention *gasp* tastier coffee) than Starbucks. Also pretty nice that they have various milks out (2%, skim, and half n half vs Starbucks, which only has out half n half). Clean bathroom, plentiful parking, next to the Chase bank. Went into this location yesterday and my friend had three gift cards that he was wanting to use but the manager told him they had an expiration date and he couldn't use them. My friend got them as a gift last Christmas and the manager still couldn't honor them. What ever happened to good customer service. I came on a Saturday at about 1PM. I don't know if the free wifi and being able to hang out there is a good or a bad thing. I guess it's a good thing if you can find a table inside, but I was unable to find one and had to sit outside in the LA cold. On the plus side, I had the hot tomato soup and the tuna salad sandwich to go with it. It also came with a piece of baguette bread. Nothing special about the tuna salad sandwich, and the baguette bread was cold (at least until I plunged it into my soup). The tomato soup was very good, though, and like other reviewers have tried, maybe I'll pair it with the grilled cheese sandwich next time. I'm not sure what to do with the dishes after I'm done using them... I just left them on the table. I did walk back inside to see if there was a place to put them but did not.
