I've loved me some Panera since 1999 when they first popped up on the scene. I fell in love with their french onion soup and have held every version of french onion soup to theirs even since. They have good sandwiches and their sourdough is amazing. But, my go to is that soup and it MUST be in a bread bowl. Yes, MUST. This is the closest Panera to my house and I happened to be in the area last night so I stopped by for some of my beloved soup (plus I had a gift card that was begging to be used and abused HA!). The location is prime - directly across from the mall and super easy to find. Parking can get tricky as the lot is shared with a ton of other eateries, including Lucille's (blech). But, they do have short-term parking, which is ideal if you're just running into get a beverage or a to-go order. The service was excellent - I was greeted promptly and the lady was friendly and very professional. The restaurant itself is super clean. You can tell that management & the staff pride themselves on this because there is a staff member on the floor at all times making sure the dining area is clean and well-kept. THEY HAVE FREE WI-FI! WOOT! I always give props for free wi-fi. That's an excellent perk and trust me, people come out of the woodwork for free wi-fi. My soup was everything that I remembered and more. That bread bowl of french onion heaven was no match for me - may it rest in peace. Overall, solid 4 stars. I would definitely come back and plan on doing so in the very near future! read more

Mmmm PANERA BREAD!! I have been to Panera several times and have never been disappointed. I visited the Cerritos location for the first time today. I had the BBQ chopped chicken salad and the Sierra Turkey with added tomatoes. EXCELLENT! The smoked turkey breast is thinly sliced and great. They are pretty generous with their portions. I really like the lettuce they use as well; it isn't the standard slab of lettuce leaf that is usually given, but rather the leafy lettuce that is usually eaten with salads. The Chipotle mayonnaise isn't overwhelming and goes perfectly with the Asiago Cheese Bread! This is also an excellent choice for breakfast! I use to frequent the Irvine location...those were the days! The Cinnamon Swirl bagel, the breakfast sandwiches and the soufflés are my favorite breakfast items. You can't go wrong at Panera Bread!! When I was living in Orange County, I would go to this Panera now and then to meet friends for lunch. It was always easy to find and I could bank on parking, since there are many of these plazas all around town. There are so many things I liked from Panera; what I would order merely depended on my mood and cravings. I most often went to Panera for lunch (vs. breakfast or dinner), but the breakfast menu always looked so delicious. When I did dine here, the wait for my orders never took long and customer service was good as well. Deciding what to order would always be difficult because there were so many things I liked from here. But, if there was a seasonal item that sounded delicious and I wanted to try, I would just get it because it was a limited-time item. Here are some of my favorites from the regular menu: Mac and Cheese: I liked this option because it featured Vermont white cheddar. I loved this mac and cheese because it was always so creamy and cheesy. I appreciated how it was different from the traditional cheddar cheese mac and cheese (although nothing is wrong with that). I don't get to have white cheddar mac and cheese all that often, and to me, this was the ultimate comfort food dish. I would often order a whole bowl, but you can get it as a cup and pair it with half a sandwich or salad. Cream of Chicken and Wild Rice Soup: This was one of the many soup flavors featured at Panera, and it was one of my favorites because of its texture. I liked the wild rice and the thicker cream of chicken broth. There was also lots of shredded chicken. I liked this soup because it was heartier (not as light as the chicken noodle soup), but it also wasn't as heavy as a chili or chowder. It's the perfect solution if you want something creamy and comforting. Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt: This is one of the items under the sandwiches menu. I love the slight kick from the chipotle flavor (though it's not super spicy or overwhelming), and I also like the chicken and avocado in here. The melts aren't called Paninis, but they remind me of them because these are hot, pressed sandwiches. Gluten Conscious Triple Chocolate Cookie with Walnuts: I'm not gluten free, but I like this cookie because it's denser and it has the triple chocolate. There used to be a double chocolate chunk cookie (or something to that extent) on the menu, but that cookie was replaced by this GF option and they added walnuts. I tend to like my cookies plain--no nuts of any sort--but I'll stand the walnuts just so I can enjoy the chocolaty flavor of this cookie. The walnuts aren't actually that bad and add a nice crunch to the soft and chewy cookie. I like this one especially after throwing it into the microwave for a bit - the chocolate melts and gets gooey. Cinnamon Crunch Scone: I had this scone when the company I was working for catered from Panera for breakfast. I really liked the fragrance and flavor of this pastry because I love cinnamon. Scones can have a bad rap for being dry, but the one from Panera didn't taste dry to me. I loved the cinnamon coating and this embodied all the tastes and smells of fall. Panera's food is good, not great. The service here on the other hand sucks. I would give it 4 stars but the service sucked so bad. My husband ordered a turkey avocado sandwich and there was no turkey inside. So he returned it and they put the turkey in, and there was no more avocado inside.... uhhh ok. Getting a small hunk of bread equals sad face cuz i am forced to decide whether to slather heart clogging butter on it or scooping up my precious broccoli cheddar (that i suspect is made from reconstituted powder) onto it. Chicken Noodle Soup was very tasty. Turkey and Avocado sandwich was good but wish I would of known that there was mayonnaise on the sandwich. Maybe have that as an option or put it on the side. The staff is friendly and service was pretty fast. My complaints are with the food. I spent $13.76 on a pick 2 combo and it was barely any good. This Panera is always packed when I come! But maybe that's because I only come for lunch.. They offer online ordering, so I recommend ordering online before you come so you can skip the line when you get here and immediately sit down and get your order! So far I've ordered the Power Chicken Mediterranean Salad and the Power Chicken Hummus Bowl (both off the secret menu). I actually got both without chicken because I don't eat meat too often. The best way I can describe this place is it's the food version of Starbucks. You will see many people there who linger there nursing their drinks while on their laptops, phone, or reading their books. Not many people are there for the food but who really want to be seen like they are working on deals. The food here is ok, just more gourmet but in a fast food environment. How do I start? This is horrible. The soup had no flavor i'd rather lick the floor I would of been more delighted to. Not only that, my bread was harder than my boyfriend ever gets. The portion size is horrible they act like it will feed a family of 7 but it could literally feed a whole infant. Oh and don't get me started on the horrible customer service. I asked for butter and she gave me two and i asked for a bit more and she said really? like yes really i need more butter for my rock hard bread. I love Panera in general and this place doesn't disappoint. My top favourite thing is the Creamy Tomato soup in a bread bowl. The only downside is that they do not serve the tomato soup in summer months: bummer. The paninis are good, the smoothies are good. Fresh bread is always a huge plus. This company does sourdough justice (and coming from nor-cal, I take my sourdough pretty seriously). Last? Def try the souffles if you don't mind a high-calorie munch (500-ish for the portion). I first visted panera with a fried to study. I fell in love with the food and this became my new studying place. This particular location in Cerritos is somewhat new to me because la mirada is my go to. This location only has 1 power outlet. Got the half salad and half soup! Salad was very fresh and filling. It is really hard to find parking around this Panera because of all the other restaurants! Especially during dinner time, you might even need to park really far(I parked near bank). I would recommend the bbq chicken salad! I love Panera but for some reason on this location they always have problems with my order, today was not exception. I ordered the sandwich plain & the bread toasted. The bread was cold & it had lettuce. No big deal, but they should follow the specifications. Like I said, not the first time. I also have a suggestion. They've plenty of outdoor seating but only one trash can in the whole area & it's all the way to the back, nothing at the front where there are plenty of tables. I love the food at Panera Bread. However I wouldn't recommend online rapid pick up. I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches on Sunday and BOTH of the sandwiches were made incorrectly. It was the bacon, cheese, egg sandwich on ciabatta. I added avocado to one and red onion to the other. Why bother allowing customization if they just make the same sandwich across the board? They both had avocado and onion and neither had bacon. Boo. I thought for sure the bacon would be in it because... welll.... that part WASN'T a customization. It was a rapid pick up so I got allll the way home before checking. Once it was clear the sandwiches were incorrect, I saw on the receipt that "accuracy" is important and that if it's not accurate to call and they'll make it right and give you a free treat! So I called and to their credit they offered to remake the sandwiches but I was already home and didn't feel like going back. So the lady I spoke with said that she would write my name down and I could get it later in the week. So fast forward 4 days... I decided to grab breakfast for myself and my family. So I went to Panera and gave them the receipt of my order that had been made incorrectly and the cashier put the order in again. The ladies there weren't too terribly friendly, but hey it's no skin off my back. I also ordered a couple more things. Due to my previous experience, I checked the bag BEFORE I left the store and lo and behold... the order was wrong AGAIN! At this point it's actually kinda funny. Instead of ciabatta bread they put it on like brioche or something. When I mentioned it they totally threw the cashier under the bus and said it was entered incorrectly and said they would remake it...and by "remake" they meant just taking the incorrect sandwiches and opening them, scooping out the inside and plopping it on different bread. I watched as they did and I noticed that there was no bacon in it AGAIN!!! When I politely asked if they had put bacon in it they said of course, and AS I WATCHED she took out a few slices of bacon and heat it up to place in the sandwich. So that would mean if I went home with the sandwiches they made originally it would NOT have had bacon. Finally with my correct breakfast items in tow... I walked out of there with remade sandwiches and no "free treat" ( It was on the receipt but they never offered and I never asked). Long story short, I still love Panera Bread but the moral of this story is to check your food before you leave the store.. you never know what you're gonna get! read more

After months of coming here every week, we have never experienced such an atrocious breakfast. We ordered one of the egg breakfasts and they forgot the egg. When we told them, they took the sandwich back, put a precooked egg on it, and gave it back. Next, we also had a steak and egg, and they once again forgot the egg. We told them about it and they took it back asking what kind of egg we wanted. We said over easy and they gave us another precooked egg. It wasn't even over easy. It was rubber on top. I love this place! It's a nice quiet environment kinda like a library lol no loud, rude people everyone is there to enjoy the food and the company they are with. I went and enjoyed lunch with my family on a Sunday afternoon .. They have outside seating and a cool order your self station for you complicated picky eaters such as myself! :) the employees are really nice people and seem to pick up the mess fast once people leave. $$ I would have to say this is a lil on the pricey side, but the food is great and not over filling and they offer any treat for .99 with each order, yum. Try the Pick 2, and join the rewards they send great deals like $5.00 pick up orders! The day after I tell my wife we should do our orders here because it faster to get to and back i get the worst service EVER. We both on the Panera coffee subscription, I ordered my drink indeed curbside pickup got to the store and clicked the "I'm Here" button on the app. 3mins later I get notified when my order is ready and on its way. 20mins later no one came out with my order, tired to call the store and no luck. Now I usually do in Cafe pick up but because I had my kids in the car I did curbside pick up instead. Well I went into the store really quick and no one could take a single minute to help me. My friend and I came here on a Friday night for dinner. Both of us order the bacon turkey bravo sandwich with a side of broccoli cheddar soup which came up to $10.79. As soon as we received our order, my impression was: "Why is the portion small?!?" "Why is the bread not toasted?" "Why is my apple not cut?" The sandwich tasted mediocre. The soup was the only thing I liked but the portion they gave was small for a child. If I'm paying $10.79, I should be getting a lot more than what I got. This is basically elementary cafeteria food. I ordered and apparently they were out of avocado so I just ordered another sandwich that didnt come with avocado. Cashier got it right but kitchen messed it up two days in a row. WTH is going on with the staff. Then I order a cookie and the bottom of it looks like someone was picking at it. I go to this Panera all the time and I feel that while the staff is friendly they dont work as fast and efficiently as they should. It always takes me a long time to get my bagel toasted. Today it took me over 15 min. for a bagel and a latte. the Latte is only filled up just over half way in the cup. I pay $4 for this and it's not even filled up all the way!
