Partly filled Chicken mini bowl and fountain drink
    Dari P.

Time for another chicken bowl. Haven't had one in a while and I really missed them. I bought a regular size and there will be plenty to eat later, too.

When you fan the flames, the hunger will broil Flame Broiler Cerritos, which opened in January, sent out flyers advertising their Customer Appreciation Weekend on May 21 - 22nd, which had chicken bowls for $5 & $1 drinks. I've been to the Artesia & La Palma locations on a handful of occasions, so having an opportunity for discounted food close to home was something I couldn't pass up. Ordering goes as follows- Size - mini, regular or plate Base - rice (white or brown), veggies or both Protein - skinless chicken, Angus beef, organic tofu or half & half I remember food being previously made to order, but now it seems Flame Broiler now pre-cooks their food and stores them in covered warming trays. Pro - Less time for food Con - Food isn't freshly prepared Chicken bowl with vegetables, no rice- With a slathering of magic sauce, not to mention the red & green hot sauces, the chicken bowl with veggies proved to be a great weekend lunch. The veggies consisted of cabbage, broccoli & carrots. The chunks of chicken were tender & moist. I would've preferred more to my bowl, but with my request for lots of green onions, I had a meal that was quite pleasing to my palate. Between the 2 hot sauces, I preferred the green sauce because it had more body to it. Flame Broiler has several specials posted on the windows, which include- Tues. Special- 2 chicken bowls $10.99 Weekend Special- $5.69 chicken bowls Service was good. My order was taken promptly & I had my food in no time. Ample seating, via booths & seats. The Flame Broiler has a spotless interior, which looks like they opened today and not a few months ago. Parking is in a private lot, with Flame Broiler directly in front of Crunch Fitness. Once Crunch opens, I'm sure Flame Broiler is going enjoy brisk business from health-conscious gym members. Flame Broiler is a great local option for quick eats by way of their bowls or plates. The chicken was good, and now I'm game to try the Angus beef. With reasonable prices, flavorful food & minimal wait time, I'm sure to frequent this location when I want to get my grub on. Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

Chicken bowl with veggies and avocado

Um it's kinda expensive for just a chicken bowl with veggies and avocado. I should've just drove to south st for other food selections. $12.03!

    Pink, uncooked chicken.

The food is always delicious and consistent. My whole family loves to eat here. The prices have gone up a lot over the past year or so.

It was 20 bucks for two meals. It came out fast and was pretty good quality. I would definitely go back!

Maxwell does not disappoint --- their garlic ginger sauce is reall good. The rice is also pretty good, just the right amount of chicken flavor without being too salty. I've also tried the fried chicken, and the skin is super crispy and delicious. Pretty unexpected to find good fried chicken at a Hainan chicken place, but it's a nice surprise. You can add a piece of fried chicken to the Hainan chicken plate, which is what I'd recommend. Looks like a lot of people get takeout from here. There are only two tables inside with a few tables outside. Service is friendly and fairly quick. This is definitely my go-to place for Hainan chicken, and I will be back!

The space is pretty compact and purely self-service for the most part. I got the weekday Hainan Chicken lunch special, but the Hainan chicken rice missed the mark for me. The poached chicken was alright, good amount of food but lacks depth of flavor. The rice turned out a bit dry instead of being richly fragrant, and the accompanying chili and ginger sauces felt pretty mid. For a fast weekday lunch, the pricing on the Hainan chicken is a good value (~$14 after tax), but I think you can do better with a few more dollars.

We ended up getting Mango Grahams, Pancit, Siomai and Popcorn Chicken. Before we placed the order, it was communicated clearly from the staff that there would be a wait (there were 3 parties ahead of us, and one of them was huge, so we kinda expected a wait anyways.) We also weren't in a rush and were willing to wait regardless, so that didn't really bother us. The Mango Grahams were exactly and more than we expected; definitely satiated my cravings. The food was also good and arrived in a reasonable manner. Again, we only wanted to check this place out because of the Mango Grahams, but we were surprised at how many other options they had for desserts, appetizers, food, and drinks. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I wouldn't mind the distance knowing the quality and options they have. Also, I briefly looked into this place before driving here, and I was expecting like a quick "boba store" environment, but it also has a sit down ambiance. Great for quick hang outs with friends or sit down meals with your family. Also, I'm specifically writing this review because of the staff. Given how busy they were, I want to recognize how friendly and welcoming they were. There were lots of orders, but they came out in an understandable amount of time, and the person in the front always had a smile of her face. She always communicated clearly and warmly about the waits, and was very accommodating to the customers. I can't wait to go back for more Mango Grahams (and also check out their other menu items!)

They also closed early without notice which threw us off. We got bicol express, sweet and sour pork, pineapple fried rice, longanisa, and lumpia. Bicol Express- Meat was tender. Sauce had a good creaminess to it and just the right amount of heat. Sweet and Sour Pork- The breading on the pork stayed crisp which was lovely. The sauce had a good balance of sweat and tangy. Pineapple Fried Rice- Flavorful rice and the contrast of the pineapple pieces was bright and refreshing. They gave us a generous portion. Longanisa- This was served silog style with garlic rice and fried egg. Longanisa was sweet and meaty and paired well with rhe rice and egg. A breakfast classic you can eat any time of the day. Lumpia- This is always a favorite. Fried to perfection so you get a crisp exterior and a juicy interior. Paired well with sweet chili dipping sauce. Good experience but service could be improved.

The place was empty when we went around 3pm, yet it took just under 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. We placed our orders: *Thai Tea, no boba - apparently our server didn't put in the order, never checked on us, and therefore never arrived. *Vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and egg roll - Huge bowl of vermicelli with salad underneath, pork on top and a piping hot cha gio. The pork was so dry it was more like pork jerky, but not in a good way. It was very difficult to chew. No one ever checked on us, so we didn't have an opportunity to tell our server the meat had been overcooked to the point of inedible. That egg roll sure was good, though! *Pork and shrimp Spring roll - not bad at all, but there was precious little pork or shrimp inside. Mostly the cool vermicelli noodles. The peanut sauce was unlike any I've ever had at a Vietnamese place. It was a gloppy sauce with a tiny bit of crushed peanuts added. Usually it's like Thai satay sauce but this wasn't even close. Fortunately they had sriracha and hoisin sauce on the table. Tried to ask for check, but again, no one was paying any attention to us so I had to get up and ask for it. Remember, we were the *only* people eating at the time. We never felt like anyone cared that we were there or if we ever came back. No worries. There's lots of other good Asian choices in the area.
