I have been visiting Pollo Inka since the Hawaiian Gardens location was installed. This place is a flavor explosion to the palate. The saltados (I prefer pollo) are basically stir fries with veggies, French fries, and meat or chicken. It is served over rice and comes with an incredible cilantro soup. I can easily stretch this over two lunches (as the portion are generous). If I eat the whole thing, my wife gets pissed because I won't eat dinner. I am just writing this now because I more recently branched out and tried some other items from the menu. The ceviche is delectable. It is so pretty when it is served that it is hard to take a bite. I included a picture which might have been taken after a single bite. It has a garnish of giant roasted corn nuts that are still warm when it is served and softer, yet firm corn kernels as well. The fish is fresh tasting with no "fishiness" at all if that makes sense. It is a tad more than I would want to spend, but I keep going back for it, so there is proof that it is worth it. I have never dealt with too much of a crowd and the service has always been friendly. If you have questions, they are helpful. If this place served beer, I would give it 6 Stars. Incan soda it is. For a fast food type of setting and the fact that you're getting peruvian food which usually you can only get from restaurants. It's a very convenient location. I'm happy that I'm not too far from this place so I can get Lomo Saltado and Soup whenever I want. The service is pretty good and You get basically what you would want from the Pollo Inka restaurant as you do here at the express location. I'd recommend this location to anyone especially if it's your first time trying peruvian cuisine and if you really like it then I'd recommend their restaurant to dine in and get a nicer experience. I wasn't sure if it would be enough for three of us, but they don't hold back on the serving size - we're all full and there's still a ton to save for later! The chicken and rice is seasoned and cooked proper, the beans are good, the cilantro soup is delicious, the sauce is wonderful, there's still a salad - and I ordered Salchipapas so we had huge pile of dressed fries with sliced hotdogs. Came here because the Gardena location too far and not sure if still open. Came here ate here and I got a bit sick to my stomach. The soup was a little cold and had too much of that thick greasy texture. Beef not cooked well couldn't eat. Then I look up at the soda station and it was disgusting . This is one of my favorite spots for a drive through meal. Lomo Saltado is one of my ultimate comfort foods as it has stir fried aromatics, french fries, rice, and steak, then you top it off with the flavor bomb green aji sauce. I wanted a little more spice, so I paid an extra dollar for their red aji sauce, which reminded me of sambal oelek. For me, the green sauce is the sauce to get. Their lomo saltados come with a side of cilantro soup, which I also enjoy. Though the wait can be about 10-20 minutes for your meal, I always appreciate it's hot and fresh. It's a mixture of a causal sit down restaurant and fast food. Hence the "express" in the name. But the food is so much better than your stereotypical fast food place. You can see the chickens rotating over a fire, the cooks making the food on the grill, and the smell of fresh food being made daily. I've gotten the chaufas (which has a good Tuesday deal), the chicken plate, and the lomo Saltado and I have to say it's all been very solid. I really like the green sauce they have, it's a perfect blend of spicy and tang. I love draping it all over the plate. My family loves Peruvian food and Pollo inka Express has been an amazing and fast spot to go pick up some delicious Peruvian delights. The way their chicken is marinated and cooked is mouth watering. Your Costco rotisserie chicken has nothing on Pollo Inkas! It pairs perfectly with their Aji green salsa which is a thick, green, delicious garlic based sauce. All of their sides are so delicious, we always get yucca frita, plantains, rice and beans. Not to mention their delicious green cilantro soup!!? Wash this all down with an Inca Kola --food coma, off to heaven shortly after. To me, Inca Kola tastes like bubblegum. I recommend trying it at least once. It's the 2 liter of bright yellow soda and you can find it here or at any latino supermarket. If you like sweets, you have to try their alfajores (little Peruvian caramel cookies) They're so soft and the best I've ever tried. I recently bought my mom some from this expensive place and they were so tiny and not as good as Pollo inkas!!!! Don't skip on these. Trust me. We will never stop craving Pollo inka and I will always highly recommend this location to anyone that's hungry and wants to try something different, with a short wait time and amazing service. This location is a bit out of my way, but my family & I were visiting a place nearby so I finally got to try it. I was a little hesitant at first because of the lower rating compared to their other locations, but my actual experience exceeded expectation. Food was ready within 15 minutes, everything was freshly cooked & steaming hot. The saltados each came with a side of cilantro soup to my pleasant surprise, my pollo saltado had a lot of onions, which I appreciated because I love onions! Flavor was all around good, including the purple chicha beverage that tasted like a healthier fruit punch. I kinda wish they have a non-spicy version of the green sauce though since I can't do much heat, but ultimately I was satisfied. As a loyal customer, I'm very disappointed with this place. They deliver decent and tasty food, but the service is not up to par. Several times when I ate at this location, we've had to ask one of the workers to fix the order because we would always order a whole chicken combo and get nothing but dark meat. They would fix it on the spot but I shouldn't have to tell them to fix this if it was done right. Then today, October 20, 2024, we walked in the store and ordered a whole chicken meal as well as a half chicken meal to go. I asked the cashier if the whole chicken would come with breast meat, and she stated yes. Mind you, we come all the way from Whittier as we are, again, loyal to this establishment because of their good food. We got home and find out that we get four legs on our whole chicken order. I was pretty upset about this because again, I always have to bring it to their attention to fix it, and hoping that walking to place the order would ensure that I would get breast meat, but find out after getting home I didn't. I called and spoke to the lady that helped us and she says that they ran out of white meat. I said why didn't you tell us that rather than just give us dark meat and send us on our way. Meanwhile, they did have several chickens roasting and we could've waited for that instead they pull that fast one again and just give dark meat and not say anything about running out of white meat. I said well she should've told us that and give us an extra piece or two and she says oh we can't do that. Really good Peruvian place in Hawaiian Gardens. Would definitely give the food 4 stars but my last visit was with a group of 4 people and all of our rice wasn't cooked. Was hard and inedible. Luckily the portion size of my entrée was big enough I didn't need the rice. Had the pollo saltado which was delicious chicken pieces, tomatoes, onions, and French fries stir fried together. Chicken appeared to have a dry rub on it and was really flavorful. All good pieces, no gristle. Even with the ruined rice I was full and enjoyed my meal. Meal came with a chicken cilantro soup which was very good. Also came with a big container of aji sauce but no bread so that was odd. Sauce was spicy and went great with my Saltado but I wish I had some bread to dip in it!
