They totally use their outside fridge for ingredients. My kids loved the kimchis they have. We got chicken soup, soluntang and the pork. My kids loved everything. I'm a bit under the weather so the hearty chicken soup really hit the spot. It didn't have a huge piece of ginseng like some places but I didn't mind that. The lady working was so nice as well. I've been going to this place ever since I was a kid. This Korean restaurant hasn't changed their menu ever since I've been coming here with my family. It's a small authentic Korean joint that's family-owned. The ambiance isn't the best but the food definitely makes up for it; it's more of an older generation vibe. They have restrooms while they might not be the best and there's ample parking. The service is welcoming and friendly. Their side dishes are simple and you can ask for more for no charge. The salt and green onions are self-serve. I always get their Seolleongtang or Kong Na Mool Guk Bap and they both come with rice. They both taste great and are often considered a hangover cure. If you want to add noodles, you can choose between white or glass. Near the end of your meal, they give you Sikhye as a little treat. Sikhye is a traditional sweet rice punch. I think this is for dine-in customers only, I'm not sure if they'll pack it for take-out orders. This is a nice authentic Korean soup place. I came here with a friend on a Thursday night after work around 5:30 pm and there was a decent amount of people. The menu on the wall is Korean but the menu itself has English words on it. Love the side dishes - kimchi, seaweed, and radish with the typical unlimited refills. I got the suluntang (dont know how to spell) #1 which is the basic order. It comes with a side of rice and the choice of vermicelli or glass noodle. I love glass noodles so of course I chose that. It's nice because you can add as much or as little salt as you want and the same goes for the green onion. It is such a soothing soup on a cold day and the side dishes make the food very refreshing. Very home-y feeling inside with the aunties working there. Lots of parking since it shares a parking lot with other restaurants/shops/supermarket nearby. Whenever I am in oc this is my first stop. They open early and I love a comforting beef bone soup or ginseng chicken soup. . First time I came here I was craving the pig feet slices with kimchi and radish plate, which was soooo good with the brown bean miso paste. . The soups here is comforting and I love how clear the broth is. They have a whole bowl of green onions too. Which I go crazy and filled my bowl until it is green. . After our adventure to SoFi in support of a USWNT win against Brazil, we were hungry. We didn't have a destination, so we considered all our options. Thanks to my future son in law, we found Jangmo Jip. When we walked in we noticed the place was empty. Definitely not a posh setting but clean and hospitable. We where greeted with a very big smile. I didn't get her name but I think she was the owner. We sat down and we tried to understand the menu as best we could. Ultimately I ordered based on the pictures. Damn I was not disappointed, soup was so flavorful. The pickled radish was crisp and the kimchi was great. This was a total immersive feel, we couldn't communicate fluently but one thing that for sure came across was warmth and hospitality. It wasn't mind blowing but it was better than the usual expectation The ddaro gook wasn't too spicy and had an assortment of veges so loved that. The base of the ddaro felt like it was a 무국? Very well-rounded experience here! It was a cold and foggy morning and I happened to have the day off so I decided to venture out for breakfast. I really wanted some soup but the only appealing variety was Korean. Wasn't feeling optimistic til I went on yelp and saw there was a Korean restaurant open early! Parking is ample but there is construction going on so at first glance it may seem closed. The woman who was there this morning was very kind and helpful. I'm half Korean but don't speak it so it's very helpful (and appreciated!) when someone can speak good English like she did. I got the straight forward beef soup and there are two noodle selections (flour or sweet potato). The food came out so fast! The interior of the place is no frills but everything seemed very clean. The soup was still hot by the time I got home and I was happy to see I had my soup, noodles, rice, seasonings, green onion and two generous portions of kimchi (radish and cabbage). I am not sure if they serve banchan when you dine in but this was plenty. The soup was fantastic and quite soothing and the kimchi (like another yelper mentioned) is fire! I'm picky with kimchi because I hate tasting the shrimp or seafood flavor and neither of these had that going on. The soup was about $16 or so and I only ate half so $8 per home cooked meal isn't bad at all! I may have to dine in one of these days but great experience ordering out (and they take Apple Pay!) Delicious even if you order the food for takeout. I do love me some offal or internal organ meats in the beef broth: seokeo sulrungtang is my go to dish. The lady serving me is always very efficient, quick and friendly . Remember to add your salt and green onions to taste. The milky broth is purposely bland but so very satisfying especially on a cold night. Banchan always delicious but there is a sign that says they cannot be taken home! I think that's if you are packing up leftovers because they always send it in small containers. Quiet and usual customers are family members eating together. read more

Nice service from the Korean ajumma. We ordered the #1 sullungtang on the menu on the wall, and it was $14.99. I got the #2 haejangguk which was $15.99. We also ordered the rice cake and dumpling soup that was $16.99 (?). If you're in the La Palma area, I recommend. There's a Korean market in the same plaza and a bakery, so you can get groceries afterwards. The soups taste like home. The kimchi and radish kimchi are so good, too. Fresh. The Korean side dishes are always fresh and the waitress will refill them for you if you ask. Going here to eat is like flying home to Korea. The beef strips they serve (just one of several choices) are always lean and delicious. I also prefer my soup with the clear noodles. My favorite side is the always fresh and crunchy radish kimchi but their traditional kimchi is good too. The mixed rice is always fresh. You can't go wrong here. We were on our way to the Aquarium of the Pacific got my daughter's birthday and woke up really early to do so. Therefore, we needed breakfast. We didn't want the usual American fare of waffles and omelettes; we wanted something more comforting and filling that was also en route. The night prior, we perused Yelp and found Jang Mo Jip which met all our needs (aside from the catchy name). We walked in and again were the only non-Koreans. However, the waitresses greeted us with smiles and offered us both iced and hot barley tea. Everyone around us were enjoying their meals in silence. Everything was pretty much in Korean but it was a nice, clean restaurant. We decided on the classic sul lung tang (with beef), sul lung tang with innards, and mandu. This was accompanied by delicious, simple banchan of kimchi, seaweed, and radish kimchi. The banchan was absolutely delicious and probably the freshest kimchi. The seaweed had a side of ssamjang which balanced the salinity. We got seconds of all the banchan. The soup itself was deliciously infused with bone marrow flavor with a choice of clear or regular noodles. The meat was also very lean and tender. There was also a side of salt and fresh green onions to adjust to one's liking. Our son had a sip of the broth and gave it a thumbs up. They also had purple grain rice, my wife's favorite. The mandu seemed to be made-in house because the dumplings were soft and juicy. If we are ever in the area again, this will definitely be a stop! read more

I always crave soup when it is cold and rainy outside. Lately we have a lot of rain in LA, so I wanted some warm soup. I always picked up Dogani Tang (Ox knee bone soup) - white broth with tendon! Lots of collagen and nutrients. Another one is Seoullongang - white broth with beef. Their bossam is also delicious, moist and flavorful, but it is smaller portion than other places. Their kimchi needs flavor but radish kimchi is yummy! Most of the menu is in Korean but you can request English version. Call for take out- be patient because some ahjummas don't speak English. **November 2022 Visit: Friday Afternoon ** I scheduled a lunch meeting with my mom and Godmother in the greater Buena Park area since we all were available to meet as it was a good half-way meeting spot. After some extensive research I found this authentic, but light option for my Godmother, and I am so happy we visited. Pretty much all the patrons were Korean (aside from my party) and everyone looked like it was their local spot - which was extremely promising. The waitress knew that we weren't Korean so she gave us a menu with pictures. I decided to order the following for our party Sam Kye Tang: Chicken Soup w/ Rice - If I have a cold or flu I want to eat/drink this. It was so light and soothing. Bossam: Pork Wraps - This was my absolute favorite dish of the meal. The pork was juicy and tender and paired with the kimchi, raw garlic slices, and the pickled cabbage it was the perfect bite. The portion was also pretty generous and could easily be shared between 2 very hungry adults or 3 moderately hungry people. Sul Lung Tang: Oxtail Soup with noodles. It's a little light for me, but the noodles were very good We were also all given a bowl of purple rice and a small assortment of banh chans. I couldn't' tell if some were suppose to accompany certain dishes, but I really enjoyed the meal overall. I would absolutely come back again! I love it when I discover a new hole in the wall place, especially one that serves Sul Lung Tang. It is a great soup on a cold winter's day (even by LA standards). You know when it is authentic when everything in this restaurant is written in Korean. Luckily, they had an English menu. On the outside, this place identifies as JANG MO. When I think of a small mom n pop shop, Jang Mo Jip is the definition of it! This is my first time here, and I was immediately impressed by the food here. This hole in the wall shop offers a smaller selection of food with it specializing more in soup-and-rice dishes. Honestly, I appreciate a smaller menu because to me it means they hone in on perfecting their dishes and it prevents decision fatigue for the indecisive customer (like me). We had to try the bossam because I was craving it very badly! I love eating boiled pork belly topped with kimchi, garlic, jalapeno and ssamjang sauce and then wrapped in lettuce It's so good! And the Sam Kye Tang was even more satisfying with it's rich and thick chicken broth flavor It melted in my mouth alongside with the purple rice we got. They also provided complimentary sides (aka banchan) which is why I love eating out at Korean restaurants because of their fermented veggies. Everything about this mom n pop shop were good. The only 2 cons I had was that they do NOT let you take leftover side dishes (kimchi, radish & seaweed). Not sure why this policy exist but makes me sad that these sides gets thrown to the trash if you do not finish them during your meal there. This is long over due... Nothing fancy but straight up classic Korean soup dishes. Coming here is like visiting your favorite aunts house and the waitress treat you like family. It does get a little delayed when they are busy during their peak hours. I'm a rice connoisseur and their rice is always perfect...not too dry and not too sticky. It's our go to hole-n-wall place for beef brisket soup, chicken soup and duk man doo soup. You really...really can't go wrong here...their menu is focused and what they make is spot on. I had been craving bossam recently, and Jangmo Jip delivered! This hidden gem is tucked away in a shopping plaza with plentiful parking. It has the feel of a mom and pop shop serving fresh, authentic Korean dishes. Even though I don't eat it often, their bossam was one of the best that I've had. The pork was warm, tender, and perfectly steamed. The napa cabbage was delicious pickled. I loved the raw garlic and veggies provided, which gave the perfect crunch to eat bite. The food had an unpleasant smell, and the meat was noticeably overcooked, giving it a rubbery texture. I ate about half out of politeness, but it unfortunately upset my stomach afterward.
