Traditional Sulungtang place. They open at 7am which is a great place to come before starting your day. Food is good, along with side dishes, and pricing is fair.

Located in the hannam chain marketplace so there's plenty of parking. I got the seolleongtang and I have to say that this place checks all the boxes for seolleongtang for me. Glass noodles, beef, good kimchi. Great for a cold day so I will be back now that it's getting colder

After our adventure to SoFi in support of a USWNT win against Brazil, we were hungry. We didn't have a destination, so we considered all our options. Thanks to my future son in law, we found Jangmo Jip. When we walked in we noticed the place was empty. Definitely not a posh setting but clean and hospitable. We where greeted with a very big smile. I didn't get her name but I think she was the owner. We sat down and we tried to understand the menu as best we could. Ultimately I ordered based on the pictures. Damn I was not disappointed, soup was so flavorful. The pickled radish was crisp and the kimchi was great. This was a total immersive feel, we couldn't communicate fluently but one thing that for sure came across was warmth and hospitality. Definitely cant wait to bring wifey to this local find.

I truly love finding hole in the wall places like this. My wife and I come when we're looking for some warm soup but we've tried almost everything on the menu and we are never disappointed! Seolleongtang (ox bone broth) is definitely the safe bet if you're craving some hot soup on a cold day.

장모 집 is definitely a hidden gem to anyone who isn't korean, prolly cause the menu is all in korean lol. restaurant has cozy + homey vibes, especially cause of the comforting broth cooking in the kitchen. the ladies that work there so so kind and treat you like they're your own :) - sul lung tang (5/5): rich & creamy HOT broth. love throwing in hella green onions + some salt. such a simple dish but it's delicious & filling. pair a spoonful with some banchan (side dishes) and it'll be FIRE. only 3 banchans but that's all you need. they also serve a complimentary sweet rice drink that's refreshing after your meal! sweet treat after a savory meal hehe jangmo jip is the place to visit if you're looking for authentic korean comfort food (that's also affordable) or if your need a cure for a hangover lol.

Very well-rounded experience here! It was a cold and foggy morning and I happened to have the day off so I decided to venture out for breakfast. I really wanted some soup but the only appealing variety was Korean. Wasn't feeling optimistic til I went on yelp and saw there was a Korean restaurant open early! Parking is ample but there is construction going on so at first glance it may seem closed. The woman who was there this morning was very kind and helpful. I'm half Korean but don't speak it so it's very helpful (and appreciated!) when someone can speak good English like she did. I got the straight forward beef soup and there are two noodle selections (flour or sweet potato). The food came out so fast! The interior of the place is no frills but everything seemed very clean. The soup was still hot by the time I got home and I was happy to see I had my soup, noodles, rice, seasonings, green onion and two generous portions of kimchi (radish and cabbage). I am not sure if they serve banchan when you dine in but this was plenty. The soup was fantastic and quite soothing and the kimchi (like another yelper mentioned) is fire! I'm picky with kimchi because I hate tasting the shrimp or seafood flavor and neither of these had that going on. The soup was about $16 or so and I only ate half so $8 per home cooked meal isn't bad at all! I may have to dine in one of these days but great experience ordering out (and they take Apple Pay!) All in all great experience all around

I've been coming here with my parents for over 30 years, and it's still one of the best spots for Korean comfort food in OC. The broth, meat, and rice are always fresh--never once disappointed in terms of consistency, service, or cleanliness. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!

Delicious even if you order the food for takeout. I do love me some offal or internal organ meats in the beef broth: seokeo sulrungtang is my go to dish. The lady serving me is always very efficient, quick and friendly . Remember to add your salt and green onions to taste. The milky broth is purposely bland but so very satisfying especially on a cold night. Banchan always delicious but there is a sign that says they cannot be taken home! I think that's if you are packing up leftovers because they always send it in small containers. Quiet and usual customers are family members eating together.

Nice service from the Korean ajumma. We ordered the #1 sullungtang on the menu on the wall, and it was $14.99. I got the #2 haejangguk which was $15.99. We also ordered the rice cake and dumpling soup that was $16.99 (?). If you're in the La Palma area, I recommend. There's a Korean market in the same plaza and a bakery, so you can get groceries afterwards. The soups taste like home. The kimchi and radish kimchi are so good, too. Fresh. Cute Korean decor inside as well.

Menu as of November 2025

This place has been around for at least 20 years. They serve authentic Korean bone broth soup which always hits the spot, the server ladies are always prompt and sweet, and great for takeouts as well.

This was my first time here, and as a somewhat newbie to authentic Korean food (outside of the…read moretrendy Kbbq spots), I was a huge fan! From the friendly service that made us feel like home, to the delicious food, everything hit the spot. We ordered the cold noodle, seafood pancake, bibambap, and short rib combo. All the dishes were so good! And all the banchan that came with it was the cherry on top. The only negative was the table was kind of small for all the dishes...though that could have been user error with us ordering way too much. Portions were surprisingly big, especially the seafood pancake. The whole time, our littlest one was making a mess and the ladies that worked there did not seem perturbed at all, and kept commenting about how cute he was and interacting with him. This type of service and response made us feel more at ease and able to "enjoy" our meal, and that makes a world of difference. I would recommend! Note the parking lot is a little small.

My mom also tried this place and recommended it, so I felt confident this would be a spot I would be coming often. We ordered the naengmyeon combo with spicy marinated pork and a side of soybean paste stew. The lady was nice when she seated us, but seemed a little bothered when we only ordered the above items, because she coldly asked "if that was all" and we said yes. She walked away then yells back asking if we wanted rice because rice wasn't included, and we said no. Despite the rough start with the vibe of the lady who took our order I was still hopeful the food itself would make up for it. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. I've never had naengmyeon that had so much chili flakes, and as someone who doesn't mind them, it was weird. The soybean paste soup was bland. And the side dishes were just okay. After the meal, I got really thirsty and my face was puffy so they are using msg. If it was a good meal, I wouldn't have minded the msg, but for food that was mediocre at best was not worth it. Although I won't be back, I did see people ordering for take out nonstop, so there must be some other dish that is giving them customers.

It was nice having a party where we can share a little with others and get a chance to try some things we normally don't. The big find for me was the mackerel, it actually looked like a huge flounder, perfectly pan fried. We also ordered 2 of the seafood pancakes, they came with 8 slices each, just a perfect appetizer for 15 (and 1 left for the one who missed the party). We ordered slightly extra crispy and everyone loved it. The background music was upbeat and contemporary, I loved every song.

Food: The soups were quite bland for our taste so we did a bit of customization with salt and pepper. Although they provided a decent amount of banchan, the proteins in their soups were pretty scarce, not worthing the $19 price tags. Their Hae Jang Guk was the only soup with the bone filled up the bowl. However, because there's no space in the small bowl, even a little nudge made its soup spilled all over my sister's body. The waitress just then gave her a bib but the damage had already been done. The Bulgogi and Katsu took the longest to come out but they were the highlights of our meal. Service: We were the only table at the time and our waitress only gave us 2 menus for a table of 6 so we had to go grab our own from other tables. She's not the friendliest and kept tossing things on our table. She also tried taking away a dipping sauce jar after I had already requested to keep it. Our water was never refilled and napkins were very skimmed out. Though she did check up on our tables, her attitude was what made us refrain from asking for help. We love to give smaller businesses a chance, but we're sad to say Jomaru is not one of them.

The place seems to really show its age with the floors really dirty and the wood floors are showing a lot of wear and tear. We got there for an early dinner and the place was empty. The lady seemed tired or just not in a friendly mood. The food was still reasonably priced. Much better than the Tofu Chain's and food as good as I remember. I went with the short rib Tofu soup and it came with two nice size beef short ribs and the meat peeling off the bone. Ban Chan was good but could not eat a few of them because they had bean sprouts in it. Nice to see Chodang doing strong. Hopefully the next time back won't be a 3-4 year gap.

Expect it to be cold in there no matter the day or season - gotta keep you cool when you're eating hot soup! Tables can feel a bit close to each other depending on where you sit. And it does get busy during the usual nights & weekends so expect that. Overall, delicious food with a home cooked feel and good service. I'd say my only gripe is that parking can get busy, but there's plenty of parking throughout the plaza.
