Everything I've tried at Chungdam has been so good! What pleasantly surprised me most is that they don't seem to specialize in just one particular dish, yet somehow everything on the menu hits. The pork ribs are flavorful and tender, and they remind me of the really good ribs from Hamjibak before it closed down in Buena Park. Their mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon are also delicious, especially paired with the pork ribs. I love all of their side dishes too. Honestly, I could eat them with rice as my entire meal. Their soon tofu is also creamy, comforting, and full of flavor. Honestly one of my favorites in the area. It's rare to find a restaurant that does so many different dishes well, but Chungdam has been consistently delicious every time! read more

Came here with my family/relatives for lunch and the food quality was great. There was a bit of long wait to get the entrees out even though it wasn't super busy with people. I ordered their Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) which was good (8.5/10) and their Kimchi was perfect (10/10). They have good service and met our requests. Also parking was good as it is in a plaza with other businesses. I'd come back with my family to try other dishes on their menu. read more

No matter when I come here, the food is always consistently delicious. We ordered the marinated pork galbi and cold noodles, and the taste is always just as good every time. The servers were warm and welcoming as always, and even though they were busy, they still paid close attention to us, which I really appreciated. The newly updated menu also looked great and was much easier to read. read more

A little on the pricier end but pretty worth it. Nice and quiet atmosphere. Feels like going to a Korean café with soothing music. Pretty good selection of hearty soups and noodles. They also have a rotating selection of banchan. The kimchi is on the more fermented side if you like that style. I got the seafood soondubu and it was the perfect level of spicy. I could've done with a little more seafood but I ate it all up and the shrimp was surprisingly sweet. My husband got the naengmyeong and he said it was pretty good, it comes with an apple slice. Service was friendly, felt your friend's mom was serving you. This would definitely become our regular go-to. Pretty easy parking in this strip mall. read more

Food: The Pork Neck Bone soup was as good as it was filling. Some places skimp out on the meat, but this one gave a sufficient amount, making the portion size potentially good enough for two. Also, the Banchan selection was nice--kept reaching for more! Service: Great! It wasn't busy on a Saturday evening, so our group of seven was (immediately) seated in a semi-private area toward the back. Ambiance: Casual. Parking: Ample parking. Located in a plaza. read more

My parents, BB, and I came here on a weekend evening. Parking is sparse, and the place is packed. Once the food came out, I realized why this is the case. The food here is delicious. BB and I shared a kalbi and soon tofu combo (I chose seafood, medium spice). My parents split a naeng myun (cold buckwheat noodle soup) and pork rib combo. They gave me one of the ribs, which was tender and flavorful. The seafood soon tofu hit the spot, and warning, their "normal spice" is on the higher side. The banchan (side dishes) were all fresh and were refilled when requested. The servers don't come around as much because it is very busy, but it's not difficult to flag one down, and they do take care of what you need in a timely manner. We will definitely be returning here. read more

Chung Dam Tofu is a Korean restaurant located in a plaza with other food spots and stores. It has a private parking lot which is convenient. Came here on a weeknight with a friend and there were other guests but it was not too busy. We were greeted and seated immediately. The menu has a lot of interesting dishes, especially the Tofu Soup section. We both ordered the Wild Sesame Seed Tofu Soup. Food came out pretty quickly, along with the banchan. The Tofu Soup was good. The sesame seed flavor was subtle. Not sure if that is the intention. We liked that it was served with purple rice. For the banchan, we were given an assortment of things, and we noted that the fritter/pancake and the cucumber kimchi were really good. Overall, giving Chung Dam Tofu a 4/5. Food and service were both good. The space no frills and pretty big with a good number of tables. Menu seems priced a bit higher than we are used to seeing, but if the other items are just as good or better, they are probably worth it. Would recommend to others and would return to try other menu items. read more

Easy eats at a local Korean tofu soup place. Went for a mid-week lunch. Was sat immediately and ordered some soon tofu and galbi. Had a few different banchan but the soup was the best part. Do appreciate the purple rice is standard. Galbi was also very delicious. Price was reasonable as well. Would def come back again! read more

Used to be a solid Korean restaurant. Not sure what happened. The restaurant was quite empty besides my group of 7 and one other group. Food took forever to come out, despite the restaurant being empty. When it finally came out, they all came out at different times, making it awkward for those who didn't get their food yet. Given how long everything took, I'm shocked at how mediocre the food was. I got the samgaetang which felt like just overcooked rice instead of the chewy rice that I'm used to and no ginseng or garlic for the price paid....only one sad jujube that was floating outside of the chicken (usually its all cooked inside together to add flavor to the rice) The naengmyun was also not memorable, which is tragic because this spot used to be our go-to spot for naengmyun. Prices seemed to have consistently gone up over the years with the food quality going down big time. It's a shame given there are so many Korean restaurant options nowadays. Just raising prices without thinking about raising the quality of food being served in tandem is a huge mistake. read more

I haven't reviewed this place yet?? WTH?? Terrific banchan, great bibimbap, and we order the spicy ribs...OMG Bomb!! They take awhile to cook so be patient. Kalbi is good as is the tofu soup. Clean restaurant with plenty of seating--very comfortable even during peak hours. The overall flavor was mild and not too salty, which I really liked. The cold noodles were freshly made and super tasty with a great chewy texture. The soy-marinated pork ribs were juicy, flavorful, and came with a nice smoky touch--plus, the portion was generous! Side dishes were nicely presented, though not super plentiful, and no one came around to refill them during the busy time. Still, the food felt light, clean, and well-balanced. I'd definitely come back for the cold noodles and galbi. Great spot if you enjoy less salty, well-prepared Korean food! read more

Decided to try out this new place. My family and I ordered some tofu stew, and it came nicely packaged. The side dishes that were provided were also delicious. The tofu stew was pretty good as well. Don't be fooled by the name -- while Chung Dam is known for their Korean-style soon tofu, locals know the real star is their pork kalbi and naengmyun combo. For just $37.99, you get: * A full platter of marinated BBQ pork (choose spicy or soy), * A refreshing bowl of Korean cold noodles (naengmyun), * AND if you order an extra naengmyun sari on the side, they throw in a free bowl of bibimnaengmyun (yes -- FREE!). Honestly, it's an unbeatable deal and sooo worth the money. Perfect for sharing or just treating yourself to a hearty Korean meal that hits all the right cravings -- savory, spicy, cold, chewy, satisfying. A must-visit for K-BBQ fans and naengmyun lovers alike! read more

Three days ago, I took my mother out for a nourishing meal and went to a black goat soup restaurant, but it turned into one of the worst dining experiences of my life. The meat in the soup was extremely tough and barely edible, with only a few small pieces included. Most of the bowl was filled with organs. But the most shocking part was that I found a metal twist tie used to bundle vegetables in the soup. I almost swallowed it. I thought it was a bone at first, but when I spit it out, it was clearly a metal tie. When I called the waitress, she simply said sorry and offered to remake the soup. But how would that fix anything if it's made from the same ingredients? This is a basic hygiene issue. My mother was so upset she couldn't eat at all. We asked for the check, but it took a long time to arrive. There was no owner or manager available, and in the end they only removed the cost of my meal. That does not make up for what happened. This is not just poor service. It is a serious sanitation problem. What if my elderly mother had swallowed it and choked? This needs to be reported to the health authorities. read more

Definitely one of the most frequent spots on my rotation. We dine here so often that the waitresses already know to give us the big tables in the back, to accommodate the baby's high chair plus our appetite! Tried the black goat soup for something different and was very pleased with the deep flavor and hearty portions. The meat is shredded and very faintly goat-forward. Chock full of greens and served with a dipping sauce of gochujang, ground up sesame and perilla seeds plus vinegar, yo balance it all out. Surprised to find the place practically empty for a Sunday dinner. Everyone else got the tofu soup , beef kimchi, pork kimchi and one combo soondooboo with the non spicy grilled pork. I always leave the place satisfied. Prices are still reasonable but may be higher than others, but their food is always good, because there are side dishes that round out the meal. Overall quiet and clean, spacious, areas for larger groups available. read more

Their portion is pretty big and this place is rather better for bigger parties. I had the spicy octopus bokkeum, pork potato stew, as well as pajeon with my family here last night. Service was great. The only down side is their parking can be a bit limited but overall the food is delicious and authentic. Also most of their spicy food, are SPICY. So if you're expecting a mediocre American spicy, then you should probably ask the staff if they can lower down on the spicy level if they can. Amazing food though. read more

This place is so delicious, I would even say it's better then Young Dong. The side dishes are fresh and crunchy . The tofu soap is so yummy and the short ribs were meaty. Staff were funny and entertained by our order. We ordered 8 items for 3 people. Repeated the amounts several times. Someone from the kitchen came out to confirm the amounts. We decided to try this place out about a year ago after getting tired of long waits at the BCD down the street and we've been coming more and more often! All the times we've come we've been seated right away, but not in a bad way (there's always other parties). Prices are comparable to BCD, and the food is just as good. HUGE fan of their rotating side dishes that are always exposing us to new yummy Korean food that feels authentic and homey. Yes -- they do limit you to two refills but it's never been a problem for us because we're always full by the end of the first. The service is great too, all the ladies that work there are all so lovely and kind. Truly a great option for Korean food in Cerritos! read more

This is a really good Korean spot for banchan. If you want to try something different aside from Korean BBQ, I'd recommend this for starters. Almost similar but there's a lot more variety. Service was attentive, mostly because we were probably the only few customers there on a week day afternoon. I finally had the chance to come here in person and it hit. Usually my fiancé would bring it home or to go. Ordering Tofu soup is must. I feel it's pretty standard since you're coming into a tofu house haha. One of the main thing for me is that they have to have really good kimchi. You know what, their kimchi is amazing. I've grown on to the flavors over the years. All the other side dishes were really fresh as well. Aside from ordering Tofu soup, a must order is the bbq marinated pork ribs. It's the main reason why I came in haha. Either order the bbq pork ribs or the bbq beef ribs. Heck, why not both? Lol. Good service, good food, no complaints. Highly recommend coming here. read more

I asked a Korean friend from the table tennis club I play at to recommend a place, and he sent me here. I've now gone twice, and both times my companion and I were thoroughly pleased with the food. My only complaint is that some staff don't have the most welcoming manner. Just to be clear, no one was actually rude or hostile, but some more warmth on the part of staff--which, I'll point out to owners/management, doesn't add any operating expense!--would have increased our enjoyment. read more

Chung Dam Tofu has always been one of my family's go-to spots to get Korean food in the area! Located in the NS Plaza, Chung Dam has somewhat limited parking spots as they share it with many businesses in the area. I don't usually have a hard time finding parking, but during peak hours it can get crowded! When you walk in you'll notice that the interior of the restaurant is its own spin between modern but traditional Korean architecture. I love how clean the restaurant is and how there are plenty of tables to accommodate both smaller and larger parties. They even have separate rooms available to reserve if you want a more private larger gathering. When you walk in you'll immediately be greeted by one of the servers who's quickly seat you. There's not too much of a wait normally, so you don't have to call in advanced (again only if you're not reserving a larger party). Every server I've met has always been so kind and friendly, and they definitely recognize repeat customers! This is definitely an authentic Korean restaurant, as all of the dishes that they serve are many of the traditional ones. The most recent time I went, I got the Noodle in Cold Black Bean Broth with acorn starch noodles and my dad got their Tonkatsu. Their noodles are my favorite whenever it's a hot day in the summer! It's so refreshing with the cold broth and I love how they still preserve the nutty taste from the pine nuts. It also is traditionally served with very little salt so it's up to you to add salt to your liking (it comes in a side dish separately). My dad's Tonkatsu was also so delicious. It was perfectly crispy but also light! The sauce is served on the side and is the perfect tangy complement to the fried katsu pieces. In terms of banchan, they offer a good amount with your typical sides, like cucumber kimchi. It's not an overwhelming amount, but definitely enough and they always offer refills! I will say that this place can be on the pricier side for some of these dishes, but they do give you large portions! Overall, I highly recommend Chung Dam Tofu if you're looking for authentic Korean food in the area! read more

The ham and sausage tofu soup was flavorful and everything came with a lot of side dishes and purple rice. The staff were friendly and really accommodating to the small children in our party. Korean comfort food! I love soon tofu soup, been to several places, but this spot does it the best. The kimchi soon tofu (spicy) with beef just had the perfect blend of flavors. In the mood for Korean so we headed to Chung Dam Tofu. There is a parking lot outside, including a few dedicated parking spots specifically for this restaurant. The interior is clean and very well presented. Menu is extensive, and prices on the higher side (typical for Korean food), though portions are very generous. During this visit, the waitress did not have the best English, though we were able to communicate enough. She also forgot to bring our banchan until after the main dishes were served. She forgot to refill waters when we had asked as well, though as a result she was more observant for a subsequent water refill even before we asked for it. Despite these few small hiccups, service overall was friendly and professional. The food is very tasty. The banchan tasted fresh and the five dishes served that day were a nice variety of things. The stews were piping hot and meat delicious. I love fish egg and not every Korean restaurant offers al jjigae. Excellent Korean restaurant, and I look forward to returning to try their kalbi soup (beef rib soup) next! read more

I don't like writing bad reviews but I think I'm going to be fair. It's been 3 days and I'm still searching for the Pork missing from my Tofu soup. I only ordered the Pork Tofu soup since I wasn't so hungry, while my friends ordered the larger entrees with a soup and a grilled protein of some sort. My Soup had ONE SLICE of PORK and some MINCED PORK scattered around in the bottom of the bowl. It came with a little cup of rice. The soup was good, but I'm still very confused as to why there was such a lack of meat in my bowl- there was plenty of Tofu at least my friends had plenty of seafood in their soups even though the crustaceans seemed almost inedible due to them being still in their shell. By the time I got the raw egg to put in my soup- it wasn't as hot anymore. The banchan was flavorful too and the service was good- I just had a feeling of being rushed to get out. They sat us in the busiest, noisiest central area instead of a quiet corner/cubical- which were fully available- but they urged us to sit down there. Check the photos and see if it's what you're looking for. Good luck Chung Dam Tofu first and last time I'm going to see you. Oh yes, parking is terrible too. read more

Came here on a Monday night at 6:30pm and the restaurant was 3/4 full. Decided to give this place a try because unlike BCD down the street, all of their customers at Chung Dam are older Koreans. Good sign, right? We shall see! Read my verdict at the end of this post. Food reviews: Beef short rib soup ($21.99) - 3.5/5. Better at Han Yang in Buena Park but this version is sweeter. Maybe it's because they added radish to the soup? Spicy buckwheat noodles ($16.99) - 3.5/5. Can't taste the seasoning. Just tasted spicy and blandness at the same time. Chicken, vegetable in casserole ($45.99) - 4/5 - large order that feeds two. My husband gives it a 4 but I give it a 3.5/5. Not much depth of taste to this dish either. Some simple salt might enhance the flavor. Banchan (side dishes) - free. 5/5. Delicious! One of the few restaurants that put effort into plating their side dishes. You can only refill the side dishes twice and this was printed on their paper menu. Customer service - 4/5. Our waitress was very sweet even though she doesn't speak English well. She kept checking in on us and refilled our banchan and hot tea. Here's my verdict: 4/5 overall. I've had better versions of each dish in Koreatown but this place is 5 minutes from my house. Nice homey ambiance, great banchans and the service was good. Will be back! read more

Drop what you're doing and go to Chung Dam Tofu! This place was incredible and is the perfect spot for authentic Korean cuisine. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helped walk me through the menu. The menu provides plenty of options for groups so make sure to come hungry with friends. I ordered a few dishes and was not disappointed! I put in an order for the BBQ beef short ribs, the chilled soup of buckwheat noodles in beef broth, and the bimbibap with kimchi. Each dish really shined and showed the quality and care of the chef. I would definitely say that each dish was crafted and thought and precision put into each dish. Here is a breakdown of the dishes I ordered: -The BBQ beef ribs were my favorite. The meat was tender and the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I loved every bite! -The most authentic Korean dish was the chilled soup of buckwheat noodles in a beef broth. There are not many restaurants around that serve chilled soups and definitely not many that make em this delicious! -The bimbibap was also incredibly delicious. The rice was cooked perfectly and the presentation of the dish with the vegetables was stunning and appetizing! The kimchi added the perfect tanginess, texture, and zing needed for this dish. This is an incredible spot for truly authentic Korean cuisine. I highly recommend anyone to try this spot out, I definitely will be going back for more! read more

Food here is always amazing! My family and my favorite Korean spot. Worth the drive from Long Beach and we just love coming here. I believe they've gone through a few name changes throughout the years since I can't seem to find my old reviews or pictures... Food is amazing. Served very HOT. Service is amazing and what you would expect from a Korean restaurant. Sides are constantly refilled. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. Between my brother and I, we basically tried all their items since we've been coming. I have always gone for sit-in dining. Seems they offer bento boxes for takeout. If you haven't tried their hot tea, try it. You can also get water with ice, finish the water, then ask for tea = iced tea (my brother does this). As for COVID measures... they use disposible cups and utensils. Overall, solid and lovely family dining experience and we will be back again! read more
