I've been living close by for over 25 years. This place has always been a KBBQ spot for all of these years. Before this it was Hwang So Go Jip and before that it was an elderly couple running their restaurant. It is now modern with better ventilation and still walkable from our place. We came today on Father's day. We knew it would be busy and so did they. Upon arriving at opening it was already half full. We did have 3 different ladies asking how many on our party before finally getting a seat. We opted for the $33.99 menu. Most of what we got were the non marinated ones. Brisket is awesome BL short ribs was okay Garlic pork belly is a must order Beef belly is good Fried rice was a bit too oily Egg pot was tad deflated But honestly now, their banchan though in small quantities will win you over here. It tasted like it was freshly made today and our young lady server (who was awesome btw) brought us a small chap chae. That was super tasty. Their cucumbers are simple and refreshing and kimchi not overpowering. Upon leaving i did notice someone had potato salad, I'm hoping to come back and give that a try. This place is great and I love their brisket. Their cold noodles is so good and I would definitely recommend it after eating some meat. It is not a part of the acye but it pairs so well together and is super refreshing. We usually go for lunch during their $25.99 ayce and the customer service is great. Usually it's only one worker but even with multiple tables, they are on top of it! Their kitchen items on the ayce are ok. I like the soups as a palate cleanser. First time trying this location. We got there at 11:35 on a Sunday - they open at 11:30 on Sundays. One party was seated, another party of 4 adults & 2 young children ahead of us, then two of us, we're standing at the entry for over 5 minutes without anyone greeting us. One young server was setting up a table, placing side dishes & utensils, ever so slowly. Another young server walking around to deliver menus & water to the table that already had a group sitting down. As we stood and waited, two more parties came in, crowding the entryway. One of the servers came & asked "how many people?", then another server came and asked again. My husband asked if they can seat us as it was getting crowded in the entry way & they had many empty tables. The server said they have to set up the table first before they seat us. We waited a few more minutes before we were seated & grabbed the menu ourselves from the front counter. Not a good start... and one of the reasons for this 2.5 star review. The server assumed we were going to order AYCE so when we told her we wanted to order from the specials they have posted in the front, she took some of the side dishes back: salad, sliced radish, & rice cake wrap. When my husband ordered the beef tartar bibimbap, the actress asked if he meant the hot pot bubimbap so my husbad told her the specials are posted in the front. The waitress came back and told my husband it's a lunch special & they don't have it now. It doesn't say lunch special & the other items on the 'special' menu were available at the time (it was lunch time). When questioned about the other items, an older server came over & explained they don't have the beef tartar prepared as they just opened. (Don't they prepare ahead of time before the restaurant opens??) They said they will remove the special menu posted in the front but the menu stayed posted even when we left... My husband ordered the spicy beef soup instead. I ordered the Dong-chi-mi cold noodle, which was also on the special menu (but that was available...). Their side dishes were decent but everything tended to be too sweet & too sour. Maybe the cook didn't measure the seasonings correctly? My noodle came out way before my husband's beef soup so I waited until his meal came out to start eating. The noodle was under cooked so they were stiff & stuck together. The broth was overly sweet & vinegary, with heavy taste of MSG. The older server came by to check on us so I mentioned to her the noodle was undercooked so she can just let then kitchen staff know. She wanted to check the noodles so she took my chopsticks & started to pick at the noodles. She saw clumps of noodles then she offered to remake it. I declined as I already started eating it & didn't want to wait again. She insisted so I declined 3-4 times. She came back to the table a couple of minutes later and said they are remaking the noodles so I told her not to bring it as I am already eating my noodles, undercooked or not. She repeatedly said "they're already remaking it" so I repeatedly told her not to bring it to our table & my husband told her not to bring it as we are almost done with our meal any way. She said she felt bad as the noodle was not cooked right but it was odd the way she insisted even after we repeatedly told her no. She initially inspected the noodles when I first told her about the noodles being undercooked & looked like she almost wanted to eat the noodles to confirm i was telling her the truth. That's not how are customer should be treated. In so many ways, this was a disappointing experience at this location. We went to the Garden Grove location two weeks ago & had a much better experience with the service & the taste of food. I absolutely love this AYCE kbbq place! They also have locations in Garden Grove and Irvine, which I haven't been to, but I really appreciate the great service and food here. On the weekends, there is a line but it moves along fairly quickly. There's a kiosk where you can add your name to the wait list. The prices here are hard to beat! On weekdays from 11:30am to 3:00pm and 10:00pm-close (11:00pm), their AYCE menu is just $25.99 and includes 16 different items. If you're looking for even more variety, they have two other AYCE options: a $33.99 menu featuring 29 items and a $54.99 menu with 34 different selections. For those who prefer not to do AYCE, they also offer combo meals serving for groups of two or four. I've had their $33.99 AYCE menu several times, and it's my favorite option. My must-order items are the Prime Brisket and Beef Belly, which are consistently tender. I also take full advantage of the unlimited Mushroom & Onion platter. I've also tried the Spicy Squid, which paired well with the beef. What makes this AYCE pretty special for me is their cold noodles in radish water kimchi broth (dongchimi guksoo). The broth is so refreshing, tangy, and light! The noodles are perfectly cooked and also pairs perfectly with the grilled meats. The service here is excellent. The staff is attentive and proactive, making sure your table is always well taken care of. I came to Shik Do Rak today to celebrate Father's day with my family and had a very nice meal. From the very first to the very last plate of meat, all of the meat quality was outstanding and far superior to other AYCE kbbq meats I've had. The service was excellent by all staff despite getting busy due to the weekend/Fathers day holiday. I was really happy with how attentive the servers were and how quickly our banchans were refilled upon request. In addition to ordering multiple varieties of meat, we also ordered the fried rice, steamed egg, and soybean stew and all of them tasted fantastic and could easily have been their own main dishes at a korean restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive from start to finish. Since this is all-you-can-eat, we were excited to order some of our favorites brisket, pork belly, and short ribs. The quality of the meat was excellent, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. They also provide a generous assortment of side dishes, including kimchi, fish cake, cucumbers, and rice paper, which made the meal even more enjoyable. What really stood out to me was the service. One of the young gentlemen came by to help cut our meat, which was such a nice touch. Even more impressive, the staff kept a close eye on our grill and proactively offered to change it whenever it started to get too charred. That level of attentiveness made a big difference. I use to always go to the garden grove location years ago so was happy to hear this place opened up a few months ago nearby. It's in the same plaza as the La Palma Hannam Chain. I came with a few gfs on a Sunday afternoon. The place is pretty big and accommodate large parties so was pretty excited. We got seated as soon as majority arrived. There are 3 options of AYCE meat combos so we ordered the middle one. I love their brisket! The quality of the meat is good as well. I was slightly disappointed they didn't have LA galbi in the middle tier. Everything was good but nothing really stood out. We also ordered dongchimi noodles after but this does not come in the combo and is a separate charge. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the service. This was a Sunday afternoon and there were only 2 people serving so the service was slow. They really tried but they should have more people on a weekend during peak hours helping. Wasn't particularly looking to eat KBBQ twice in a week, but always down for it! Went looking for dinner options and was in the area for Shik Do Rak. Location is pretty easy to get to, it shares a large lot with the Super 1 Market. The restraurant is along Moody St, but you can enter the parking lot through La Palma Ave. Just be wary that everyone is trying to get a spot close to the restaurant or is dropping people off then finding parking, so it gets really congested near the spots in front of Shik Do Rak. I've read from other reviews that this is a newer location and it did feel like it was new. The space is a medium sized space, with seating along the walls and in the center. I got there around 6:30pm and was on the waitlist for about 20ish mins, which isn't bad for peak dinner time. I killed time in the Super 1 market. There are two menus to choose from in terms of what meats are available. I believe we went with the 3-2 options which had 29 menu options. There is a cheaper option for 16 menu items, but it looks to be available weekdays 11:30a - 3:00p and then from 10p - close every day. I imagine everyone tries to do the 10p menu at $25.99. Meats were really good quality, not too fatty for some of the cuts. They seemed all fresh, bright vibrant red coloring to the meats before cooking. All the banchan laid out in gold serving dishes, as well as sauce trays. The service was great, as the servers maintained each tables grills by changing them, without asking sometimes which was nice. Side were refilled frequently, and so was the water cups. I do wish they left a water pitcher at the table...through the meal my cup gradually accumulated more and more ice causing me to go through water so quick. Meats were brought out quick as well, we never waited more than 5 mins and never had to ask twice. Definitely a good kbbq spot in La Palma to go to. I've been a regular at SDR since I was a kid at the OG Garden Grove location. I was so excited to hear they opened a new location close to my parent's house! Every time I go, it's always the premium beef combo with some à la carte pork belly & dong chi mi noodles!!! The meat quality at that price point can't be beat. I swore off Shik Do Rak after a bad experience at their GG location a few years ago but my cousin said their new location in La Palma is so much better and she was right! We came at 7 on a Saturday night and there was little to no wait. The restaurant is pretty small for a kbbq restaurant. It's modern and very clean! They have a combo and AYCE menu. We got ordered the large SDR menu and it was plentiful for 4 people. We really liked the marinated short rib. The quality of their meats are top notch. Super tender and had good marbling. For us we didn't wait as long since it was just me and my boyfriend. Second time back and I remember some of the workers that helped us the first time. With plenty of free parking available, off of Moody Street and La Palma Avenue in the city of La Palma, Shik Do Rak is the best AYCE Korean BBQ in the area. We came at lunch time on 2/12/2026 and had the $25.99 selection which had 16 items including choice brisket and my favorite, beef belly. I loved the cleanliness of the place as well as great service, and is a much better improvement than the previous establishment. Come before 3pm to get the weekday lunch price and enjoy the good quality meat and panchan/side dishes. The sides were a great compliment to the meat and were well replenished upon request. As I get older, I have realized that a five out of five restaurant does not have to be Michelin listed or have three or four dollar signs. What matters more to me now is that it is approachable, reasonably priced, and somewhere close enough that you actually want to come back. I am grateful that I live nearby because I have probably come here three or four times already. Every time I have dined here with friends, it has been a great experience. The servers are very attentive and the atmosphere is extremely cozy. You can tell they invested a lot into the interior design, especially the lighting. It feels warm and welcoming. When you dine out, you are not just paying for the food. You are also paying for the setting and the overall vibe, and this place really gives that comfortable and homey feeling. My go to order is definitely the beef belly. I could honestly eat it all day. The side dishes are also excellent. One thing I really appreciate is that they will cut the onions for you if you ask. Onion halves or large slices may look pretty, but they are harder to eat and you end up cutting them anyway, so having them prepared that way already is actually a very smart idea. Another great thing is the location. There is a Korean market right next door and a boba shop in the same plaza, so you can easily stop by both places. There are also plenty of parking spots, which is always a plus. The only small downside is that sometimes they run out of rice paper for wrapping. I love rice paper. I probably should not, but carbs equal happiness. Overall, I highly recommend this place over many other Korean barbecue spots in Orange County. I am still curious about Wynn in Buena Park and Kalbi Social Club in Irvine, but for now this is definitely my number one go to spot. read more

Our 15m and 3 yr old loved the marinated short rib, pork belly, rice paper, steamed egg, rice, fish cake (not spicy and. not much pepper which was great for them) and cucumbers. They only had booster chairs but our 3 year old didn't need one and our 13 month old sat in the booth. The servers and kitchen staff in the back were really kind and kept smiling at our kids. We asked for salad and they straight up gave us salad with no dressing on it. The meat quality was amazing got the first round. However, it was all downhill from there. It was all fatty and some were super chewy. Not good cuts of meat. Their steamed egg was not seasoned at all. We asked for salt and pepper to season it. I've been wanting to try Shik Do Rak for a while I know they are popular in the OC. I'm from LA so its a rare chance to drive down for an opportunity. First off plenty of parking its in a stripmall corner location, easy to spot. There's probably a wait esp on the weekends. Our group was quite large around 10 people with 2 kids so we split table and fit well. I'm not a huge AYCE person but this one works well because the banchan is small and portions aren't huge. Meat quality is great, brisket, pork belly, other meats all pretty good. They offer soups also with basic banchan thats pretty tasty. The vibes are mid definitely more of an suburbary family style setting. Lights are also bright so you wouldn't want to stay all night, theres a time limit too because of the AYCE. This place used to be Hwang So Go Jip, and I love how they remodeled it. The updated look feels much nicer and more modern. The meats were good, the service was good as well, and it is a nice smaller KBBQ spot nearby. The line can get long, so definitely try to get there early. Parking can also be a little busy since the lot is shared with a market. read more

Our friend Grant told us that a new Shik Do Rak opened so close to home. We came here during their soft opening, and the service was excellent! Their meat quality is pretty good, and the ambiance is super cute and modern. I love how they have barn doors that you can close if the sun is hitting through the window if you are seated in the middle row. We haven't had great experiences at their other locations, but this location specifically, brought us back a few times since they've opened. All of the banchan are delicious, and we are waiting for them to serve potato salad, hopefully soon! We'll be back again and again, especially for lunch dates with the hubby. I'm glad they opened a location closer to Cerritos compared to Irvine. This location is much much better in my opinion. The sides are fresher and there's more variety. The quality of meat is good, I opted for the cheapest ($25/p) and none of it was super tough-- although I'm not a fan of the type of beef belly they have. I also am not a big fan of the type of grittle/grate they use, it doesn't allow for a great sear but at least there's an even cook throughout. The service is pretty good I have no complaints. Been wanting to try this kbbq spot near my godmothers house and finally was able to. As soon as we parked, we were seated within 5 minutes. The placed seem fairly new but they have a Garden Grove and Irvine location. Ordered the 3-2 AYCE menu (29 meats). All the side dishes and meats we ordered were pretty good quality. Service was also great. Would definitely come back again to try out the other meats we didn't get to order. read more

Went here for the first time with my cousin to try out the new kbbq place near our houses. Inside the restaurant, it is very clean and well decorated, providing a welcoming environment. Menu prices are very reasonable with a great selection of meat. I think it was 33 bucks for the dinner menu. Service was amazing and the meat quality was definitely there,l. This place adds saccharin to their soups and marinade. Also, they do not use real sesame oil. My daughter is highly allergic to artificial sweeteners and this place does not disclose their use of saccharin. Our first time encountering a restaurant that uses saccharin in most of their food.
