For the price, this place isn't that bad. My friends and I decided to stop by this place and my friend told me that this was one of the OG rice cake paper place. The side dishes were good and I loved that the meat was cooked on a stone plate. I think the things I didn't like is that the rice cake paper was harder than other KBBQ spots that I've tried and all their marinated meats tasted slightly bizarre. It didn't have the typical sweet salty KBBQ taste but an unpleasant gingery taste. For the price I thought it was really reasonable!

It was the first time here since they opened, and our experience was great overall. This location was previously a family-owned KBBQ restaurant and is now a new location of a popular brand. We used to go to the Irvine and Garden Grove locations, but they were always busy and packed for dinner. I'm happy for this new spot closer to home. For dinner, we enjoyed a few cuts of meat as part of the 3-2 AYCE for $33.99, like the prime brisket, marinated boneless short rib, marinated finger meat, and beef belly. The unlimited banchan were all great as well. There are plenty of meat and side dish options and good price ranges. You can choose between AYCE or the combos. Lunch and dinner prices also vary. Our server, Julie, was excellent, friendly, checking in often, and helping with the grill. The dining area is fairly spacious with a secondary room towards the back. The ventilation is new, as are the furniture and decor. The music isn't too loud, and the vibes are chill. I'm looking forward to another visit soon.

Really enjoyed the AYCE kbbq weekday lunch special for $25.99. The meat quality is decent and the sides are great. I particularly enjoyed the savory seaweed banchan dish they have. Server is very attentive and friendly. Restaurant is clean and ventilated well.

I've been living close by for over 25 years. This place has always been a KBBQ spot for all of these years. Before this it was Hwang So Go Jip and before that it was an elderly couple running their restaurant. It is now modern with better ventilation and still walkable from our place. We came today on Father's day. We knew it would be busy and so did they. Upon arriving at opening it was already half full. We did have 3 different ladies asking how many on our party before finally getting a seat. We opted for the $33.99 menu. Most of what we got were the non marinated ones. Brisket is awesome BL short ribs was okay Garlic pork belly is a must order Beef belly is good Fried rice was a bit too oily Egg pot was tad deflated But honestly now, their banchan though in small quantities will win you over here. It tasted like it was freshly made today and our young lady server (who was awesome btw) brought us a small chap chae. That was super tasty. Their cucumbers are simple and refreshing and kimchi not overpowering. Upon leaving i did notice someone had potato salad, I'm hoping to come back and give that a try. Service here is probably the best here. Being a smaller restaurant, we were able to everything correct and in a timely manner. We were never short on grill items and walked out full. We did have to hail them down for water a few times. We shall be back, definitely want to try the smaller ayce menu they say on weekday only.

I absolutely love this AYCE kbbq place! They also have locations in Garden Grove and Irvine, which I haven't been to, but I really appreciate the great service and food here. On the weekends, there is a line but it moves along fairly quickly. There's a kiosk where you can add your name to the wait list. The prices here are hard to beat! On weekdays from 11:30am to 3:00pm and 10:00pm-close (11:00pm), their AYCE menu is just $25.99 and includes 16 different items. If you're looking for even more variety, they have two other AYCE options: a $33.99 menu featuring 29 items and a $54.99 menu with 34 different selections. For those who prefer not to do AYCE, they also offer combo meals serving for groups of two or four. I've had their $33.99 AYCE menu several times, and it's my favorite option. My must-order items are the Prime Brisket and Beef Belly, which are consistently tender. I also take full advantage of the unlimited Mushroom & Onion platter. I've also tried the Spicy Squid, which paired well with the beef. What makes this AYCE pretty special for me is their cold noodles in radish water kimchi broth (dongchimi guksoo). The broth is so refreshing, tangy, and light! The noodles are perfectly cooked and also pairs perfectly with the grilled meats. The service here is excellent. The staff is attentive and proactive, making sure your table is always well taken care of. They frequently check in to see if you'd like more meat, keep the side dishes replenished, and make sure your water glass is never empty. The service truly makes the AYCE experience more enjoyable. Always coming back for their amazing service, great deals, and their cold noodles!

Lil' dude and I were craving Korean BBQ, so we decided to come here for a quick lunch. Blessed by the best! we didn't have to wait long at all and were able to get a cozy small booth. The place is small but charming, cozy, and family-friendly. The staff treated us warmly, and the meats and cuts were tender and delicious. My son loved the short ribs. Our waitress checked in with us often and even helped us cut the meats, which was a nice touch. There was plenty of parking available, and the restrooms were clean and accessible. The prices are very reasonable, and it's even more affordable for kids -- children aged 5-9 can enjoy a half-price meal.

Haiku: Shik Do Rak New kid on the block Brisket is nice and tender Affordable meals. --- There's a new KBBQ joint in town, and I'm excited about it. My kid loves this place too. I've come a couple of times, and this place is solid. I usually get the AYCE menu option 3-2 (29 kinds) $33.99. It has all my favorite cuts of meat--Prime Brisket, B/L Short Rib, Finger Meat, and Marinated B/L Short Rib. My fave way to enjoy the meats is to wrap them in the rice wrapper with the pickled radish, some greens, and dip them into the salted sesame oil. It's just perfection. The sides are good and complement the meal. Service is good when it's not busy. They sometimes come around to the table and help cook your food. When business picks up, you'll most likely have to flag someone down. This place is great for big groups; there are large tables available. They have good air circulation and fans. The vent is extendable, and you can pull it down closer to the grill to suck up all the smells. Come early, it gets crowded closer to meal times.

I came to Shik Do Rak today to celebrate Father's day with my family and had a very nice meal. From the very first to the very last plate of meat, all of the meat quality was outstanding and far superior to other AYCE kbbq meats I've had. The service was excellent by all staff despite getting busy due to the weekend/Fathers day holiday. I was really happy with how attentive the servers were and how quickly our banchans were refilled upon request. In addition to ordering multiple varieties of meat, we also ordered the fried rice, steamed egg, and soybean stew and all of them tasted fantastic and could easily have been their own main dishes at a korean restaurant. If you live nearby and have a KBBQ craving, I highly recommend Shik Do Rak for the cleanliness, service, quality, and value.

First time trying this location. We got there at 11:35 on a Sunday - they open at 11:30 on Sundays. One party was seated, another party of 4 adults & 2 young children ahead of us, then two of us, we're standing at the entry for over 5 minutes without anyone greeting us. One young server was setting up a table, placing side dishes & utensils, ever so slowly. Another young server walking around to deliver menus & water to the table that already had a group sitting down. As we stood and waited, two more parties came in, crowding the entryway. One of the servers came & asked "how many people?", then another server came and asked again. My husband asked if they can seat us as it was getting crowded in the entry way & they had many empty tables. The server said they have to set up the table first before they seat us. We waited a few more minutes before we were seated & grabbed the menu ourselves from the front counter. Not a good start... and one of the reasons for this 2.5 star review. The server assumed we were going to order AYCE so when we told her we wanted to order from the specials they have posted in the front, she took some of the side dishes back: salad, sliced radish, & rice cake wrap. When my husband ordered the beef tartar bibimbap, the actress asked if he meant the hot pot bubimbap so my husbad told her the specials are posted in the front. The waitress came back and told my husband it's a lunch special & they don't have it now. It doesn't say lunch special & the other items on the 'special' menu were available at the time (it was lunch time). When questioned about the other items, an older server came over & explained they don't have the beef tartar prepared as they just opened. (Don't they prepare ahead of time before the restaurant opens??) They said they will remove the special menu posted in the front but the menu stayed posted even when we left... My husband ordered the spicy beef soup instead. I ordered the Dong-chi-mi cold noodle, which was also on the special menu (but that was available...). Their side dishes were decent but everything tended to be too sweet & too sour. Maybe the cook didn't measure the seasonings correctly? My noodle came out way before my husband's beef soup so I waited until his meal came out to start eating. The noodle was under cooked so they were stiff & stuck together. The broth was overly sweet & vinegary, with heavy taste of MSG. The older server came by to check on us so I mentioned to her the noodle was undercooked so she can just let then kitchen staff know. She wanted to check the noodles so she took my chopsticks & started to pick at the noodles. She saw clumps of noodles then she offered to remake it. I declined as I already started eating it & didn't want to wait again. She insisted so I declined 3-4 times. She came back to the table a couple of minutes later and said they are remaking the noodles so I told her not to bring it as I am already eating my noodles, undercooked or not. She repeatedly said "they're already remaking it" so I repeatedly told her not to bring it to our table & my husband told her not to bring it as we are almost done with our meal any way. She said she felt bad as the noodle was not cooked right but it was odd the way she insisted even after we repeatedly told her no. She initially inspected the noodles when I first told her about the noodles being undercooked & looked like she almost wanted to eat the noodles to confirm i was telling her the truth. That's not how are customer should be treated. In so many ways, this was a disappointing experience at this location. We went to the Garden Grove location two weeks ago & had a much better experience with the service & the taste of food. We will be going to the Garden Grove location although this one is closer to our house.

My hubby and I decided to go back there for Friday lunch, basic AYCE $25.99, which are including beef briskets, bulgogi, pork belly, spicy porkbelly, soy marinated pork belly, chicken, mushrooms, onions, salad, rice papers, kimchi stew, bean paste stew, and rice. We were the 1st customers today. All the side dishes were soooo fresh, tasty, especially cucumber pickles....OMG! Sooo good. Brisket, bulgogi, pork belly all are sooooo tender. Our server was super attentive, friendly. We were so happy for Friday's Lunch. Last time I mentioned about the taste of kimchi stew and we both noticed kimchi stew was so rich, deep flavor, I want to give 5 stars this time. Thanks for listening to my feedback. Thank you so much. Everything was awesome. Great job! Any negative aspects. Fresh, tender, flavorful, excellent service.... We left w full stomach and a big smile, we won't need the dinner tonight....haha. so full, so happy! Love this BBQ place near our home!!!

I love this place, it truly became a go to kbbq spot for me and my finance. The staff works hard and checks on you regularly. The meats are lean and delicious and the sides are just the perfect combination of pickled and sweet. Also finally a Kbbq spot that doesn't feel like a night club, it is incredibly well lit and love the wood everywhere. Highly recommend a casual kbbq spot.

Today lunch for $25.99 AYCE was awesome. The briskets, pork belly, and bulgogi were so tender, marinated well. The quality of meats was premium. Last time I noticed kimchi stew was almost watery texture wo any flavors, but today my wife and I both liked it. Finally the stew got rich broth, little pork meats, and tofu together. I give 5 stars. Thanks for fixing the flavors after our feedback. The service and side dishes were so good. Our server was so attentive, friendly. All the side dishes, fish cakes, cucumber pickles, mungbean sprouts, and kimchi are all so fresh, so flavorful. All 5 stars!!! We couldn't eat the 2nd round for our meats due to the rice papers. I love love the soft chewy rice papers. It made me soooo full. Haha...finished a lot. My wife and I really enjoyed all the foods today. Hopefully they continue the quality of foods and service. Pros Parking, safety, service, price: 5 stars Menu: basic $25.99, $33.99, more premium are available. Ambiance: casual Cons: not really found Great BBQ place for family, friend gathering.

Ordered the basic $33.99 ayce menu which had plenty of variety of meat and dishes. The banchan was absolutely delicious--perfectly seasoned and they were not stingy with refilling them. The meat was fresh, and nicely cut and seasoned. What really stood out was the service. The staff was attentive, checking in on us regularly.

It has been transformed…read moreinto one of the area's premier destinations for authentic Korean comfort food, embracing the traditions of slow-cooked, homestyle recipes passed down through generations. Every dish reflects a dedication to Korean culinary heritage, arriving at the table bubbling, sizzling, and steaming with irresistible aromas. Step inside and you are welcomed by the comforting scent of toasted sesame, simmering garlic, and richly fermented broths that instantly make you feel at home. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and unpretentious, capturing the feeling of gathering around a family dinner table. The menu celebrates soulful Korean classics with bold fermented flavors, slow-simmered stews, casseroles, salad wrap combinations, noodle dishes, and grilled fish, alongside shareable favorites like Korean chive pancakes, seafood pancakes, and abalone porridge. Every meal begins with one of the best complimentary spreads of banchan in town. The assortment is vibrant, tangy, spicy, and refreshingly diverse, featuring dishes that are increasingly difficult to find at many Korean restaurants. Our table included a variety of namul (seasoned vegetables), steamed eggplant, creamy Korean potato salad, japchae, and wonderfully fresh kimchi. Each side dish provided its own balance of flavor and texture while perfectly complementing both steamed rice and the main courses. **Dwaeji Bossam (Steamed Pork with Napa Cabbage) + Doenjang Jjigae (Soybean Paste Stew) Combo, plus banchan - $45.99** The bossam showcases beautifully prepared pork belly that is incredibly moist, tender, and melt-in-your-mouth rich without any unwanted pork odor. Thin slices of pork are elegantly arranged like ribbons and served alongside an impressive assortment of accompaniments: spicy julienned radish kimchi (musaengchae), sliced raw garlic, fresh jalapeños, ssamjang (sweet and savory fermented soybean chili paste), saeujeot (salted fermented shrimp), carrot and cucumber sticks, crisp green leaf lettuce, and blanched napa cabbage for wrapping. Every condiment serves a purpose. The crunchy radish kimchi cuts through the richness of the pork with bright acidity and spice. The saeujeot delivers an intensely savory burst of umami, while the ssamjang contributes a balanced combination of sweetness, heat, and fermented depth. Wrapped together inside fresh lettuce or tender napa cabbage, every bite becomes an explosion of contrasting textures and harmonious flavors. The accompanying doenjang jjigae is equally satisfying. The fermented soybean paste creates a deep, aged savoriness that is rich yet mellow, supported by anchovy stock, garlic, and just enough heat from sliced jalapeños. A slightly thickened broth envelopes silky tofu, tender zucchini, onions, and potatoes, creating one of Korean cuisine's most comforting stews. **Eun Daegu Jorim (Braised Black Cod) - $48.99** The braised black cod is another standout. Buttery, flaky pieces of fish are gently simmered in a glossy reduction that perfectly balances savory, sweet, spicy, and umami flavors. Thick chunks of radish slowly absorb the rich braising liquid until they become almost as satisfying as the fish itself. Just before serving, the dish is finished with freshly diced green onions that contribute brightness and a subtle bite to this deeply comforting classic. Service deserves special recognition. Every member of the staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. My family felt immediately at ease from the moment we walked through the door. The servers anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, quietly refilling water glasses and clearing finished plates with thoughtful timing. What impressed me most was the kindness they showed my mother, treating her with genuine warmth, sincere compliments, and the type of hospitality that made us feel less like customers and more like welcomed guests in someone's home. This restaurant beautifully showcases everything that makes Korean comfort food so beloved: slow-cooked recipes made entirely from scratch, deeply flavorful stews, generous portions, exceptional banchan, and heartfelt hospitality. Between the authentic homestyle cooking, robust flavors, and caring service, it has quickly become one of the finest places in the area to experience the warmth and comfort of traditional Korean cuisine.

This location has served cold noodle soup (mulnaengmyun) all the years we have come. The most recent owner is also female, and her kitchen and front end staff are all female. By far, this serves the best cold noodle soup and thin chewy buckwheat noodles. The hot summer days certainly bring in a crowd! The side dishes or banchan change frequently, my favorites are the tomato and apple, onion and parsley plus the house made kimchi. Occasionally they have the white or non spicy kimchi which is so delicious and refreshing. We often get the combo cold noodle with beef bulgogi (thin sliced marinated beef) or kalbi (LA style short rib sliced across and marinated then grilled). Love the bossam plate :boiled pork belly served with vegetables for wrapping. Also good is the marinated chicken & veggie wraps combo. The gamjeatang or pork spare rib spicy stew if full of tender pork and stewed vegetables, that I feel is a healthy alternative to the grilled meats. The boochoo neon (I hope I spelled that correctly) or chive pancake is done so well here: tender and crispy on the edges. Great for sharing as an appetizer. They also have a barley dish that is mostly vegetarian with spicy sauce. Very glad they are open daily and until 9 pm (last call is about 830). Many families and golf buddies or business partners frequent the place. Quiet, thankfully has A/C cranked to cold most year round, so you can enjoy your meal in comfort. The manager (Joy) and servers are unfailingly quiet and priced excellent service.

The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the quality is consistently great. The service is usually very good, depending on the day and time you visit. I often come late at night, and there's a woman who occasionally works those shifts whose customer service is outstanding. She's always friendly, attentive, and makes every visit enjoyable. It can make the experience feel unwelcoming. Overall, I still highly recommend this place because the food is excellent. I just hope management can address the inconsistency in customer service so every visit is as enjoyable as the food.
