    Kong guksu
    Lauren C.

This hole-in-the-wall restaurant serves authentic Korean dishes. I tried the kong guksu and was very well made. The cold soup was very thick, which I found to be unique unlike typical kong guksu. Portion sizes are huge as well. The restaurant stayed a bit warm at first, but the workers eventually turned on the AC.

3.75 rounded to a 4. This is an authentic and traditional Korean restaurant, like the ones you'd find in the rural seaside areas of S. Korea. The interior isn't anything stellar and this place is definitely a mom and pop shop. I could already tell by all the older folks that dine and takeout here. This place seems to specialize in fish-entrees. We ordered the kalchi gui, eundaegu jorim, and seafood pancake. If you come here, you should get a fish/seafood entree instead of a noodle or meat entree. The kalchi gui was sooooo good. The eundaegu jorim was good, but not the best I've had. The seafood pancake was very generous with the amount of seafood inside, but was slightly tough and not the best I've had. But still fair. I'd say the prices for the specific dishes we got were really fair though compared to other places. The dishes automatically come with banchan/side dishes, rice, and soybean soup. The soybean soup was not great, banchan was p good, and I have no complaints about the rice. Service was so friendly, kind, and attentive. They also seem to get a lot of regulars because of how friendly and personal they were with some of the tables. I'd say because this place is authentic, the flavors aren't super saturated with salt and sugar. The flavor is more in the fish, produce ingredients, and classic Korean fermented pastes. They don't like to hide the flavors with a ton of salt and sugar.

    Pork bossam

Quiet mom&pop shop. Great service, very authentic, HUGE PORTIONS! The bossam could probably feed 5 people. I plan to come back and try more dishes here.

    은대구조림

this is a TRADITIONAL korean restaurant, so whenever my grandma wants to eat out, we often come here. if you're used to americanized korean food, which ig you wouldn't be able to differentiate if you haven't had homemade korean food, maybe this isn't for you. but if you like traditional korean food like 은대구조림, this is nice. the lady who runs it doesn't speak fluent english, so if you don't speak korean, pls look into what dishes you want to order ahead of time. most customers are middle aged-elders

    Samgyetang (Chicken ginseng soup)
    Lulu Z.

Maybe we didn't order their specialty item.. but there was a "star" icon to show it as "popular item" . Honestly very disappointed in my Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup). So much rice, no soup. Definitely prepared differently than other places, all the ingredients were outside of the chicken. Overall - it was a big bowl of porridge.

We were craving some warm pho on a cold night, and Soup Shop sounded like the perfect spot. The plaza Soup Shop is located in is usually super crowded, but if you go after 9pm when most of the other restaurants and shops are closed, you'll find plenty of parking. Write your name down on the waiting list at the front podium and then wait for your name to be called. They have a few seats to wait right outside the door. Once we were seated, we were given menus. I really like that their menu has a lot of large photos of the dishes, so you know what you're getting! Once we ordered, the food came out pretty quickly despite being busy. For appetizers, we ordered the Crunchy Pork "Bao" since it sounded unique. Inside the bao is pork shoulder, mushroom, Vietnamese sausage, and quail egg. The outside has a thin, perfectly crispy layer that gives a nice little crunch when you bite into it. Really enjoyed these and would recommend! We also got the Crusted Parmesan Cauliflower. Not sure what's in the sauce, but it's sweet, tangy, and delicious! It's also topped with fried onion, cilantro, cucumber, and parmesan cheese. Also a winner! For entrees, we got the Chicken Pho and the Pho Ribeye. For the chicken Pho, you can get it with thigh or breast meat. I got it with breast meat, and they gave a good amount of meat! A little dry, but I appreciated that it was nice and lean. The flavor of the soup is really good. Pho Ribeye was also tasty! Hit the spot.

It's a small authentic Korean joint that's family-owned. The ambiance isn't the best but the food definitely makes up for it; it's more of an older generation vibe. They have restrooms while they might not be the best and there's ample parking. The service is welcoming and friendly. Their side dishes are simple and you can ask for more for no charge. The salt and green onions are self-serve. I always get their Seolleongtang or Kong Na Mool Guk Bap and they both come with rice. They both taste great and are often considered a hangover cure. If you want to add noodles, you can choose between white or glass. Near the end of your meal, they give you Sikhye as a little treat. Sikhye is a traditional sweet rice punch. I think this is for dine-in customers only, I'm not sure if they'll pack it for take-out orders. The menu on the wall is Korean but the menu itself has English words on it. Love the side dishes - kimchi, seaweed, and radish with the typical unlimited refills. I got the suluntang (dont know how to spell) #1 which is the basic order. It comes with a side of rice and the choice of vermicelli or glass noodle. I love glass noodles so of course I chose that. It's nice because you can add as much or as little salt as you want and the same goes for the green onion. It is such a soothing soup on a cold day and the side dishes make the food very refreshing. Very home-y feeling inside with the aunties working there. Lots of parking since it shares a parking lot with other restaurants/shops/supermarket nearby. I would come back again for a nice warm soup when I am in town.

It's not the most obvious spot from the outside, but the moment I walked in, I knew I'd found something good. Came here specifically for their famous soondae, they have a $15.99 All Day Special. The special comes with a choice of soondae soup (or ox bone soup w/brisket and glass noodle), rice, and several banchan--easily enough for a full meal. I went with the mix version, which had two kinds of soondae plus generous slices of meat and innards. (They also have a soondae-only option.) The broth had clearly been simmered for a while--rich, deep, and warming all the way down. The soondae is handmade and incredibly clean-tasting--zero off-putting flavors. Also ordered the spicy braised short rib. Portion was solid. The beef ribs were huge and cooked until tender enough to fall off the bone. Spicy, savory, and the kind of thing you want to keep picking at. Lots of veggies too--pumpkin, carrot, potato, rice cake, mushroom--all soaked up that braising liquid and perfect over rice. Biggest surprise of the meal? The chive pancake. SO crispy! The edges were browned and crunchy, and that first bite--crunch--released this big hit of chive aroma. Honestly had me at the first bite. Every dish here feels thoughtful and comforting. It's the kind of spot you already want to go back to before you've even left. If you're into authentic Korean food or just happen to be near Cerritos Mall or Disney, definitely worth a stop. I'm already planning my next order.
