Authentic korean taste made by aunts moms etc. Portions are huge too so perfect for sharing. looks like its been here forever also. literally feels like korea, actual definition of Mom and Pop vibes : ) We visited for a early Saturday dinner around 3-4 pm empty. which is nice we got the whole place to ourselves. Ordered the braised korean fish took about 15 minutes to get it right but it was worth the wait. Huge portions for both of us to share and leftovers, even better the next day. Their food is consistently good. We ordered food to pick up to take to my inlaws. Didnt realize it was lunar 1/15 (정월 대보름) & they had special rice & extra side dishes. I'm not a fan of beans but their 5 grain rice which contained beans was very good. I liked the texture of the ri e as well as the taste. They were generous with the amount of rice & side dishes they packed for us. Cod stew was well done with the radish having the flavors of the seasoning well soaked in. The pork neck bone soup was well enjoyed by my husband & his mother. Mother-in-law commented the meat flavor was good & tender, "It melts in your mouth", she said. The restaurant was packed with older korean customers - i guess it's a big hit when they do this special rice & side dishes every year (on lunar 1/15). Kalchi Gui is so good here.... 10/10. Not too salty, just how I like with little crisp. Portion size is good for 2-3 ppl. Bossam is huge with 2 types of kimch! Portion size is for 3-4 ppl. If you come here, you should get a fish/seafood entree instead of a noodle or meat entree. The kalchi gui was sooooo good. The eundaegu jorim was good, but not the best I've had. The seafood pancake was very generous with the amount of seafood inside, but was slightly tough and not the best I've had. But still fair. I'd say the prices for the specific dishes we got were really fair though compared to other places. The dishes automatically come with banchan/side dishes, rice, and soybean soup. The soybean soup was not great, banchan was p good, and I have no complaints about the rice. Service was so friendly, kind, and attentive. They also seem to get a lot of regulars because of how friendly and personal they were with some of the tables. I'd say because this place is authentic, the flavors aren't super saturated with salt and sugar. The flavor is more in the fish, produce ingredients, and classic Korean fermented pastes. They have plenty of traditional Korean dishes, but I believe they are most known for their fried and braised fish. We ordered 1 fried and 1 braised fish along with their cold soybean noodle. Jang Dok Dae is a lovely, family owned Korean restaurant on the edge of Norwalk and Cerritos. It is on a corner lot with plenty of parking. The staff/owners are very sweet and try to make everything homemade. The black sesame soup with hand pulled noodles is the best dish, and not many Korean restaurants have it! read more

This place is an old school Korean restaurant but the food is excellent. As someone who recently moved from Koreatown LA to a gateway city, I had to find my go to Korean restaurant and I think this is one of my favorite places. We like to get the Uhndaegoo jorim (braised black cod). Some of our other favorites are the dahk gae jang, as well as the bohtsahm. The atmosphere is very modest and simple, but this is the kind of place that suits me. One of my favorite authentic Korean restaurants to go to. Why? They do the whole old-fashioned, authentic appetizer of barley (bori) rice with green-stemmed kimchi (choongmoo kimchi) with bean paste (dwenjang)! You don't see this nowadays. It truly tastes like Korea/gramma's cooking. I love ordering their fish steamed dishes. My go-to is the kalchi jorim (marinated steamed cod) because the sauce that they marinate the fish in is absolutely amazing. Although the color of the broth is red and looks spicy, it is not that spicy (in my opinion). I also love their pork steamed short ribs (dweji galbi jjim) which comes with rice cakes and steamed radish. You can get that dish in a small or large. Also tried the seafood pancake, which was decent and portion is very generous. Their seafood hand-cut noodles (kalgooksu) was also satiating, if you want noodles in hot broth. Parking is not too bad, although they share it with an AYCE kbbq and sushi restaurant. The plaza is right across from the ABC Unified District - the same plaza as Fantastic Burger. This spot was the first dine-in restaurant my family ate at since the start of COVID, and it did not disappoint. My boyfriend was craving homestyle Korean food, and this place did the trick. Everything we ordered was very flavorful. All of the meats were tender and fused perfectly with the sauces. The pancake was tasty and perfectly crispy with a subtle seafood flavor (more on that later). I honestly don't usually don't care too much about service as long as the food is good, but this place had noteworthy service. Our waitress went above-and-beyond the entire meal and was very attentive. She noticed the sun was in our eyes and quickly moved our table to a better spot. Right when my family and I were commenting about how good the pancake was, the waitress came out apologizing profusely saying the pancake was over cooked and that she took it off our bill. We told her it was perfect, but she insisted on refunding us. We were blown away by the delicious meal and attentive service. Jan chee gooksu and pa jeon are my go-to items. Solid, no frills , real ajjumas and great service .

This is where we go for special occasions when we want solid Korean food, particularly savory soups. But that is not to say the other stuff on the menu is not worth trying. Some of the dishes deserve special recognition, because they are not typical (in my experience) or because they are exceptional. Not typical could include the Yeolmu Boribap, which is daikon radish greens mixed with barley rice and other ingredients. Very tasty and filling, even if I can't recall having it elsewhere. We really like it. Seasonal? Maybe. Exceptional could include the Doenjang soup/chigae, which we all agree is maybe the best we have tried in years. It is a treat. Many regard this dish, served elsewhere, as a pedestrian food, ordinary and a staple, but here it is elevated. The Chunggukjang is a more rustic version of the Doenjang soup/chigae, and it is very delicious. For the uninitiated, this is a stew made from something like (Japanese) natto, and it isn't great for a hot day, but rather, awesome for cold weather dining. Delicious, not for the delicate. In sum, this is a mom-and-pop style place, not some corporate chain, exactly the kind of place we like to support. People in the area who seek good homestyle Korean food will know this place and appreciate what they do here. read more

I have been craving chicken kalguksu (knife cut noodle soup) since I visited Hangari Kalguksu but was too lazy to make the drive to koreatown and fight for parking. I honestly don't fully remember the exact flavor profile of that one but this one is pretty darn good. The portions are huge, the side dishes are yummy, and the price is fantastic.
