I've been coming here for years with my parents. It's still a family go to restaurant. There's usually only two people working and they are the sweetest. It's not quite a hole in the wall but it reminds me of the restaurants in Korea where my grandparents live close to which is really cute to me. The hot stone bibimbap is a classic and they are known for their mudfish soup which is earthy and comforting. One of my favorite dishes that my aunt perfected is Cheonggukjang-jjigae 청국장찌개. I would freeze portions and make it last until I would see her again. The smell would piss everyone within a mile radius, but all I could smell was love. This dish here is really good. Not better than home cooking, but pretty damn good. They give a good selection of ban chan which usually includes kimchi, bean sprouts, seaweed, and cucumbers (banchan may vary based on rotation). My favorite dish here is the squid stir fry. This is health issue. If you are eating a mudfish soup here, be careful because there might be broken stone pot pieces. If you happen to chew some hard solid pieces, no it's not a mudfish bone. It might be broken pieces of stone pot. It happened to me. They replaced with brand new mudfish soup, even their second pot had same issue. read more

Wow their famous mudfish stew was very good. I didn't taste or smell any fishy taste and it was very hearty and tasty. Oh I was skeptical at first because I'm not used to eating foods that are "exotic" but after I tasted the mudfish stew I have to say that their food is very good. Their side dishes were also very good. Additionally, I tried their goat stew and it was very good as well. It did have a gamy taste to it so I don't think I would order it myself but I would recommend it for others. They serve alcohol like soju and beer. I would recommend going here. Came here with a friend when car's being serviced. Excellent hidden gem! It's located in a plaza that is on the main street so if you don't look closely it can be a little hard to find. However parking is a breeze since it's a big outdoor lot. The decor inside is very classy, with interesting Korean framed pictures as well as appetizing food pictures on the wall. Also a big screen TV on the wall for game watchers. The food is awesome. One of the best side dishes that I've eaten (compared to other KBBQs). The gensen chicken was superb. The vegetable pancake was also great. They also give you extremely delicious purple rice (for a lack of the proper word). Pricing isn't cheap, but it is worth the price. It is an authentic Korean restaurant located on Beach Blvd in a small plaza with the taco bell. I've gone mostly in the evenings to have their tasty soups. They are known for their mud fish soup. Although the name and fish does not sound appealing, it is very delicious and very healthy for you. An equally good soup I've tried here is the goat stew. The goat stew has a lot of good goat meat chunks and has some pretty flavorful leafy greens in there. It is personally my favorite. My husband loves it too and he is non-Korean. Everything else on the menu, you can really try if you want, but the soups are what this place is known for. Seating is very easy to find. Came here around 6pm on a weekday. Plenty of parking. Wanted to have a friend try the dish and didn't know they had a location in this area. Got the choo oh Tang, mudfish stew. The taste is honestly just as good as the one on Pico. Loved it. I would definitely recommend the mudfish stew if you come here. They give a variety of banchan here too. They all seemed fresh and not too salty. They go well and are balanced with the main dish. Don't be afraid to ask for refills on them. Only complaint is the price. 14.99 for this visit. It was like 11.99 at the Pico location a couple months ago. I really like it but going up to $17 for a bowl of this by itself seems excessive. Namwongol, you know from what I know this is second branch from original Namwongol that is situcated in Koreatown in Los Angeles, CA. this place is well known for their "Chu-Auh-Tang". What is "Chu-Auh-Tang" anyways? it is well boiled mu fish grind into powder form and served in stew form in clay pot to hold its temperature for long as one finish their bowl. supposedly mud fish contains lots of quality protein, calcium, essential amino acids, various minerals, Vitamin A,B,D... it really helps with people to recover fast and boost your stamina. Supposedly it is really good for your skin and also good for your blood circulation. I took my sick wife to Namwongol today around 11:00AM for lunch time during the weekend to have this medicine like dish for my lovely wife. we also, dump some garlic, raw diced hot pepper, Jun Cheon, black roasted seasoning sesame. It is not so delicious or tasty, or spicey, it was somewhat milky, smooth texture, but yet you do not taste any fishy taste, that is most important beauty of this dish..... whoever is coming out of hospital and had long days of suffering from illness, I definitely recommend this place for Korean medicine dish and food....!!! read more

This place relocated from Garden Grove Blvd. to here probably - + couple years ago. Specialty here is the Chu Uh Tang, which is a soup made with grounded live mudfish. Look up Mudfish if you're not familiar with it. They also have other items on the menu which is very limited. Chu Uh Tang is something not many people this generation know about, but it's suppose to be very healthy for you. I think it's something to give it a try atleast once. You can say you had Mudfish soup. The price for the soup I believe is under $10 so if you decide that you didn't like it, atleast you won't have anything to cry about. read more
