First time visiting Mo Ran Gak from out of town, and it easily deserves a full 5 stars!…read more We ordered the spicy cold noodle with the galbi combo, and they surprisingly brought out a small portion of the non-spicy broth version as well. Both the galbi and both versions of the noodles were incredibly delicious. We also tried the stir-fry intestines--they were cooked perfectly with absolutely no gamey smell. My wife got the steamed egg, which was also really good. On top of all that, they give you plenty of side dishes that are actually delicious ,more variety tô . This place is top-tier, and we are definitely coming back next time we are in town!

Street parking is also fairly easy since it's residential if you don't mind walking a few minutes. Once there, there's often a short waitlist (~ 15 min). Our party had the Prime Non-Marinated Korean BBQ Combination for four and added a Boneless Short Rib. The first thing I noticed? Definitely the charcoal grill - my favorite! The staff cooked all the meats for us, and each was cooked well. There were a few time where the meats were lightly charred, though that was on us for eating a little too slow. Can't blame us though, we had good chats and shots. The sauces for the meat were all tasty as were the sides, which I devoured multiple rounds of, but if there's one I don't recommend it's the boneless short ribs... why had I not read that it was marinated? The marinate was way too sweet, an I'm sad that this was our last order to come out. It was by far a chore to eat and not the best way to end our evening. I highly recommend the Prime Non-Marinated Korean BBQ Combination, though!

The menu seems bit limited but it actually covers a wide variety of Korean food: boiling hot soups, cold noodles, something fried, and something with rice! Portions are huge and they give you three types of kimchi that taste house-made. My favorite here is the NakJi Dol-Sot.

You need to add your own salt which is provided on the table. It's a simple and filling soup. The Galbi Tang is flavorful with lots of meat. You also add your own salt. This is one of my go to "sick dishes" as it's very comforting. Their Yuk Gae Jang is SO GOOD. It's definitely my favorite here. It's the perfect amount of spice. It's filled with meat, noodles, and veggies. The flavor of the broth itself is so yummy and when rice is added, one bowl can be stretched to three full meals. I had this dish last week and I actually can't stop thinking about it. Overall everything here has been delicious and the portions are very generous. The banchan includes 3 dishes: radish kimchi, kimchi, and mustard greens kimchi. All have fish sauce. Service 10/10 Servers are quick, efficient, and attentive. They brought extra bowls and without being asked, brought serving spoons and scissors to cut the noodles with. I have a fish/seafood allergy and I appreciate them taking it seriously and letting me know which foods they recommended I stay away from although they did not know for certain. I wish they knew which dishes had fish/seafood so I knew for sure what was allergy safe, but I understand that it's impossible to know the ingredients of every dish. Ambiance 8/10 I've been coming here since the pandemic days when they had outdoor seating and it's always very neat, clean, and pretty quiet as well. There is plenty of parking and lots of other dessert, drink, and food places nearby. Even though it's almost 90 degrees outside, I've been craving their Yuk Gae Jang and can't wait till my next visit!

I've been to the Buena Park location twice so far, both times during breakfast hours…read more The restaurant itself is actually nice. The interior is clean, newly built, and has a modern Korean hanok-style look. The servers were also friendly both times, so I didn't have any issues with the service or atmosphere. Unfortunately, the main problem for me was the food. I've eaten at the LA location before and never really thought the food tasted bad there, but at this Buena Park location, both visits gave me the impression that the food didn't taste as fresh as it should. On my most recent visit, I ordered the soondae gukbap, and the soondae had an unpleasant off smell and didn't taste very fresh. It almost tasted like it had been sitting for a while. On my first visit, I tried the regular pork gukbap, and the pork flavor was also stronger than I personally prefer. I do tend to like cleaner-tasting gukbap, but this stood out to me because I don't remember having the same issue at the LA location. After the first visit, I thought maybe it was just an off day since the restaurant was still new. But after having a similar impression on my second visit, I'm not sure if this location is consistent yet. The space is nice and the service was good, but for a gukbap restaurant, the food has to be the main reason to come back. Based on my two visits, this location was disappointing for me.

Mhat Korean is a casual low key authentic Korean restaurant in the area…read more I came with one other person on a Saturday and there was no wait and only one lady working. There was one other party in there with us. The service started off a little slow but it was well worth it. The menu includes casserole soups, stir fries, noodle dishes, and other house entrees. If you like seafood, Mhat is known for their mackerel and cod dishes. We wanted to try everything but ended up sharing their Bul Nak Jun Gol which was a bulgogi and octopus casserole soup. It came out in a hot pot with flames. It included marinated meats, udon noodles, veggies, in a sweet and savory soup base. It was served with banchan and rice. The dish listed that it was for 2 people but it can honestly feed up to 4. We had plenty of left overs. The flavors were complicated and delicious. It was perfect for that cold day. The lady working was really nice and helpful. She made sure to check on us and even helped us enjoy our food by cutting out the flame and making sure we were mixing it right. The pricing is super affordable. It was a great first time experience and I can't wait to come back and try their other dishes.

The bulgogi & octopus casserole soup was flavorful and hearty--perfect comfort food--and the gun man du were crispy and delicious. Portions were generous and the meal came out nice and hot. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because the service felt a little on the serious side. The woman working there wasn't unfriendly, but definitely more no-nonsense. I also paid my bill with a credit card and left a cash tip on the table, but she didn't see it and came back to ask if I intended to leave a tip--which caught me off guard a bit. It wasn't a huge deal, but just something to note. Overall, I'd come back for the food--it's solid Korean comfort fare. Just be prepared for a more straightforward dining experience.
