Seolleong Tang with white noodles

10/10 Very comparable to this spot I had in Korea that I'll never forget Food was great, service was good, the inside of restaurant is cozy, definitely can eat there by yourself or with some friends.

설렁탕 & 반찬

Homey, super down to earth, but everything you'd want in a bowl of 설렁탕. I will say that when I went, it got busy, but due to the lack of workers, I had difficulty getting water refilled. I will say, though, the food was really good and was nostalgic!

Banchan

I can tell Jang Mo Jip has been feeding the community for decades. Interior is typical of a homey Korean restaurant with a small menu. I came with my wife since she had fond memories of coming here. Service was great, the waitresses made sure to keep our banchan full. As for the stews, they were average to me but it does the job. Nothing spectacular but also nothing wrong. It's not as good as Han Yang but I don't mind coming back. 3.5 stars for me rounded to 4 to help small businesses.

Spicy vegetable with beef soup

I have been going to this place since I was a child, and it's still so good. The food is comfort food for sure and the kimchi is fresh and delishes. The service was friendly and attentive.

Jang Mo Jib (장모집), which translates to "the house of the mother-in-law," has consistently exceeded my expectations. Their Kimchi and 깍두기 (radish kimchi) are consistently fresh and delicious. In Korea, there's a saying that the quality of Kimchi determines the overall quality of the food, and I've always enjoyed the consistently delicious taste of Kimchi prepared by Jang Mo Jib. On this visit, I opted for the ox knee and tendon soup (도가니탕) for health reasons, while my sister ordered the chicken noodle soup (닭칼국수) along with a dumpling plate (만두 접시). The portion of the chicken noodle soup was incredibly generous, and we couldn't finish it all, so we had leftovers to enjoy later. The meal was satisfyingly filling.

Chicken ginseng soup and Sul lung Seolleong Tang

I've been going to this place for over ten years. They are consistently great and it's one of the best beef bone soups around this area (not counting ktown of course). If you're new to this place, try their Seolleongtang (ox bone soup). The soup comes unseasoned so you can add the salt and spring onions to your taste. I love this because I don't like to see too salty. The chicken ginseng soup is great when you're feeling like you're under the weather or hungover. And the Bosam platter is SO good but you definitely need a few people to share with. I read some reviews that this is not great for English speakers. I would argue the case, they have an English menu be the waitress speaks good enough English to recommend what to eat.

Menu - Prices increased. New prices range from $14(+) -$30

This is my go to Korean soup place. You can't go wrong on with any of the dishes here. They have the best side dishes too. A must try.

The meal starts off with lighter dishes like porridge, salad, and water kimchi to warm up your stomach. After that, a variety of starters come out including spicy beef tartare, pan-fried sliced beef, glass noodles, and a beautiful platter of nine delicacies. Everything was thoughtfully presented and flavorful. The highlight of the meal was definitely the assorted premium wagyu cuts, which are grilled to perfection over charcoal. The meat was incredibly tender, rich, and packed with flavor. Pairing it with naengmyun and soybean paste soup made the whole experience even better. What surprised me most was how many courses kept coming out throughout the meal. Even after the wagyu, they brought fried dishes, seasonal items, tricolor pancake, and dessert to finish everything off. Overall, the course felt very complete and satisfying, and the quality of the ingredients really stood out. If you're looking for a more elevated Korean BBQ experience in OC, this is definitely a spot worth checking out.

Service: we came around 6pm Sunday dinner! Not busy the time we came. There was a guy wearing…read moreglasses and a girl. Both were very nice! They were welcoming as well. 10/10 rating! Food: I ordered the beef gyugatsu. When you order (on the tablet) it will give you a choice if you want the full set or just the meat only. Of course I had to try the full set. It came with 2 sauces, salad, edamame, radish, rice, and a bowl of miso soup. It was delicious! Meat also came with a little grill for u to cook on and wasabi on the side. My partner ordered the curry pork cutlet. Pork cutlet was a tad bit dry, nothing crazy but the sauces that came with it made it better! It also came with miso soup, salad, radish, edamame, and a bowl of rice. Since my partner ordered the curry cutlet, ofc it came with a bowl of curry and katsu sauce on the side. Both meals were delicious! 8/10 rating for food! Ambiance: cute, clean, nice and small! You order on the tablet. They close around 830pm keep in mind! Overall I will come back to try their other food items on the menu!

I came here earlier in the evening with my boyfriend since we've been craving gyu katsu for so long…read moresince we went to Japan. We came the last hour of closing and there was still a couple of tables eating inside still. We were greeted upon arrival and we didn't need them to tell us how to order as the only thing on the table was the ordering tablet (self-explanatory). We ended up ordering the premium gyu katsu set along with the curry pork cutlet set that comes with rice and sides along with some beer. The drinks and food came out fairly quick and were steaming hot. I like that the curry came on the side so the pork cutlet wouldn't get soggy and you could pour over as much as you want over the cutlets. The veggie sides were a nice touch and complemented the meal well. The gyu katsu didn't taste like Japan to us, but it was still good especially with the wasabi and sweet soy sauce that came with it. If I came back here, I would give the beef tongue a try along with the creamy udon because those also seemed like a favorite for customers. Service here was friendly and we were checked up on multiple times without having to flag someone down.
