I've been here many times throughout the years and have tried many of their dishes but recently this place has been my spot when I'm craving kimchi jjigae. I usually order Togo on my way home from work. I call in my order and they always answer the phone. The order usually takes 15-20 mins. They don't open on Monday's so can't satisfy my cravings on Monday's. This Korean spot is an extreme hidden gem because only Korean locals want to gate keep this spot. You know what, good food is for everyone so I am NOT gatekeeping this. They got a huge menu and it filled with every single Korean thing you wanna eat. The key is to try to drag friends with you because the portions are gigantic. If you are too shy to talk anyone, there is a tableside kiosk/tablet for you to see photos and order from. Everything we order was delicious and I cannot say anything bad about this place except, their dishes are too large? hehe I go the Pork Tonkatsu and Udon combo, Pork Belly Kimchi Wraps aka Bossam, Soy Garlic Wings, Tofu Bulgogi, Spicy Rose Toppoki, Spicy Squid and Pork and Garlic Parm French Fries & Tots mix. I was craving cold noodles in this hot summer weather and Jjiang had the perfect bowl of cold noodles that felt never ending!! They were super refreshing and flavorful but also the noodles were soo long it was hard for me to finish everything. The place is very nicely decorated. Looks like a sports bar/crawfish house. Nice and clean and the ordering is done though a webpage. So you can browse the menu and order at your own pace. The food was good and very tasty. Spicy noodles and Rotisserie Chicken were delicious. However, I did take off one start due to the price. For the items that I posted in my pics (minus the Banchan), our meal came out to $92 with tip. I feel this meal should have been at least $10 cheaper. The chicken (although very tasty and was actually a Cornish game hen), was $18 and didn't include rice. If you wanted rice, it was additional $3. Noodles and popcorn chicken were a bit overpriced too. Overall, good experience, food tasty, service good, but price a little high. If back in the area, we would probably go to other places in the area since there are many other choices which are a little bit cheaper and also have great food. read more

My review is solely based on a take out order of gimbap. The service was ok, the ladies were nice but the order of one bulgogi gimbap took foreverrrr... no updates and I had to ask a couple of times if they were still working on it. I ordered two Korean soups from the place a couple doors down and those soups were ready at least 15 min before the one gimbap. And i ordered them pretty much the same time. The place was pretty empty as well, maybe just a few tables occupied. And there was at least 3 servers that I saw. Also, the rice in the gimbap wad mooshy and no taste. I got a delivery order from here, which was all nicely packaged. It came in a Corona box, which was kind of funny. The order came with a Tonkotsu & Chewy Noodle Combo ($23.99) and Tuna Rice Roll ($11.99). It all came with a side of pickled radishes and soups as well for a complete meal. The tuna roll was yummy as expected with good portion of fillings. It was my first time eating chewy noodles, which were not exactly my favorite kind of noodles. It was chewy, of course) and also very spicy from the sauce. It can definitely get overwhelming if you were eating this alone. I used to frequent this place a lot. So I came back to get some food. I ordered in advance and went to go pick it up when I received a notification that my food was ready for pick up. I walk in and a Korean lady greets me and proceeds to guide me over to where my order is. But she gets distracted by her friends and coworkers. She abandons what she was doing and walks out of the restaurant to talk with her friends. She then comes back and disappears into the back. When she returns, someone she knows walks in and asks for their to-go order. I stood there for 15 minutes just waiting for her to be done with her conversation. In the end I just walked out to wait in my car and another lady walked out after me to help me out. I found the service at this place unprofessional and discriminatory against younger people. I truly hope that their customer service improves because this was not a great experience. read more

While I'm not very much into Korean food unless it's an AYCE KBBQ spot, I was recommended this place to go to for dinner by a person who totally doesn't like Korean food. That in itself was already an intrigue for me. To my surprise, this restaurant didn't have a ton of recent photos for a place that has such a large menu, but I went into their website to see their variety of items so that I'd know what I wanted to order ahead of time. The thing that really caught my interest was their katsu (pork donkatsu and chicken katsu). Apparently they have a panko crispy breading option or an even crispier breading option. I meant to order the crispier option, but forgot to mention that when I ordered. I ended up ordering their Donkatsu Bento which came with corn sitting in a mayo dressing, chopped cabbage topped with a mayo dressing, kimbap (Korean sushi - daikon, cucumbers, egg, imitation crab, and I think maybe spam?), cut up Donkatsu slices with a bowl of katsu sauce. Loved everything surprisingly. Even though I didn't request the crispier katsu, it was perfect enough with an excellent amount of flavor! They give you a good portion of kimbap (like 10 pieces), and I liked the dressing for both the corn and cabbage. Also, I absolutely LOVE the soup they give you before they serve your entrees. Honestly, it's super basic and tastes almost exactly like miso soup without the cloudiness of the miso, so it feels cleaner. Apparently you can ask for more if you want too. My party ordered the kimchi fried rice topped with a fried egg - one with cheese, and one without. Personally, cheese probably adds a little more oomph to the dish, but I didn't try the one without it. A bibimbap dish was also ordered and that was great too! Loved the crispiness of the rice. Anyway, I love this Korean restaurant as much as I don't go out of my way to dine at Korean food spots. I'd totally go back if it was closer to where I lived, but it took me over an hour and 15 mins right before 6pm to get there from LA, hah. read more

There's a saying that when a restaurant's menu offers way too many options, that means the food is going to be subpar. My mom was craving some ddukboki but didn't feel like going to the market to buy all the ingredients to make it at home so we drove to jjang bunshik to get some to go because our first visit a while back was pretty good. We called in our order while we were waiting in the parking lot and ordered a kimchi fried rice and a ddukboki soondae combo for take out. Food was ready for pick up within 15-20 minutes which was good. Be careful when you pick up the tin bowl they give you because it is ridiculously hot. The ddukboki I'd say is about a 3/5, nothing too special and pretty spicy. However the soondae was just awful.. Do not order the soondae what so ever. Texture felt gritty as if you were chewing on sand. I think they buy prepackaged soondae at the market and just reheat it because it was not chewy like how its supposed to be. Kimchi fried rice was subpar as well.. The whole thing just tasted really sour (yes I know kimchi fried rice is supposed to be a bit sour) but this was like really really sour. Normally when you make kimchi fried rice you mix in some sesame seed oil to add a nutty taste but they didn't add any to the fried rice. I don't plan on coming back anytime soon.. There are many other local bunshik restaurants that serves better food.. read more

Once I came back to America I desperately wanted to find a restaurant that would serve me the same quality and taste as the ones in Korea. We ordered Kimbob & Udon donkatsu combo with beer. A few minutes later, there was another lady who served a beer, and I didn't know her name(she looked pretty skinny), but she was very nice and gave us a pretty smile which made us feel better compared to the first lady who said have any seat in entrance. And later, first lady(looked cubby and grumpy) served foods. The foods were pretty good and had good portions. I enjoyed food. However, I won't go there again even foods are good, due to poor service, especially the lady who looked grumpy and cubby than other servers. We checked all the reviews on JJang, new Korean Japanese restaurant near H MART mall in Buena Park. My husband and I got big surprise after we tasted ddokbokki, tuna kimbop, caramari Tenpura, and korean sausage called Sundae. Real surprise!!!! Yumm...ho..! Deep fried Tenpura was a lot greasy not too crispy thou. They open until midnight. Sounds great!!! They have korean street foods, japanese sushi rolls, italian pasta, and more....endless... I recommend JJANG to everyone loves korean snacks as late supper or brunch on weekend. Really enjoyed today after our open house. Yeah!!! Hope I have good offers... read more

What do you do when you crave Korean food, specifically soondae? You scour the web in hopes that you find something that meets your expectations. My search took me here, where my brother and I arrived for an early dinner, aka, the whole restaurant to ourselves. It was awesome! I get to explore the details of the menu haha. The menu is HUGE, but most of it build upon a base. For example, fried rice, gimbap and tteokbokki come with an assortment of options such as added spicy, cheese, or both spicy cheesy. I wish I had a large enough appetite to test them, but with the two of us, we decided on single servings. My brother got the tofu & kimchi bibimbap. The sizzling stone pot came with the fixings, but you can always ask for more gochujang sauce to match your preference. Topped with a generous portion of chopped kimchi, crushed firm tofu and dried seaweed, it was plentiful bowl. Since I had soondae on my mind, I had to get the Korean sausage & vegetable stew. It arrived piping hot topped with perilla leaves and seriously, a generous pile of crushed perilla seeds. The aroma just pulled me in and I ended up scorching my entire mouth upon first sip. It was difficult to resist! Overall, there was plenty of soondae and cabbage throughout and the stone pot kept everything boiling hot til the very end. In addition to the stew (total splurge moment), I also got the Spicy Chicken & Rice Cake Skewers. The rice cakes were crisp with the right amount of chew, but the popcorn chicken fell a bit short. They appeared and tasted stale and the sweet chili sauce eventually made everything soggy if you don't eat them right away. Overall, I was won over by its simplicity. From the menu to its patrons, people just come here to grub on comfort foods. They definitely cater to a late night crowd since they're open late and its attachment to Orange Bar doesn't hurt them either. You can order food from both places, so that's pretty win-win right? Another Korean restaurant on Beach Blvd. What else is new? I never knew this place existed until other people were mentioning it. A bad way of letting people not notice a business (esp. while driving) is having the same or really similar sign colors as the billiards place right next door which is probably why I never noticed it. The place looks new, a lot of colors, weird American pictures on the walls, a lot of menu items of Korean food, etc. Ordered 1. Spicy rice cake - It was tasty, but portion was small. Came with the standard pieces of tempera. The rice cakes were cut into smaller pieces than other Korean restaurants that offer the same dish. 2. Spicy Pork - Marinated slices of pork served with rice and salad. It wasn't all that great. 3. Tuna Rice Rolls aka Tuna KIM BAP in Korean - 13 thin slices with tuna, kimchi, and cheese. Great flavor. A great option if a roll fan. 4. Regular Rice Roll aka just KIM BAP in Korean - 13 slices with sausages, sliced vegetables. When I come here again, I would get the spicy rice cake and tuna rice rolls. The rest of the dishes were average. It's worth checking out once to see if you like the food. But I'm sure it's direct competitor is across the street...MANDOO RANG, DUMPLING HOUSE which is near Jack in the Box and US Bank. Sort of like Pho House vs Pho 21. I am pretty impressed with Jjang. First off, their menu is really impressive for a boonsik joint. They have dukbokgi w. multiple variations like adding on ramen, mandoo, soondae... etc. And they have multiple variations of their kimbap like tuna kimbap, spicy tuna kimbap, spicy cheese tuna kimbap... etc And they have alot of different korean items on their menu including different types of fried rice, soups, noodles, etc... What I really liked about Jjang was that their food really did taste like the boonsik food in Korea (although Korea is better of course)... We got their dukbokgi and the sauce totally reminded us of dukbokgi in Korea... on the sweet side and yet spicy... We also go their spicy tuna kimbap. The kimbap was good but alittle on the dry side. But I was impressed that they had alot of different types of kimbap like korea instead of your standard beef kimbap or odeng (fishcake), like the kimbap you see in korean supermarkets. We also got an order of odeng gook (fishcake soup) and it was totally like korea where the fishcake is overcooked because it stays in the soup for hours. This place serves up some pretty good korean comfort food in a clean and casual setting. Although nothing on the menu will likely blow you away, the food here has a certain homemade quality that I like. We came here for the spicy seafood jjampong but ended up ordering a bunch of other things on the side. The jjampong is pretty huge and loaded with a good mix of seafood. The noodles were handmade and the broth was spicy and refreshing. A really good choice if you're looking to nurse a hangover. The popcorn chicken was really tasty too and makes for a perfect little snack. We also ordered some tuna kimchi kimbap and some fried mandoo, both of which were quite average. The menu here is really big, so I can understand that not everything can be a hit. But that's also the reason why I like boonshik restaurants, because you can order something different every time. The interior is pretty comfortable and they even have two large tvs on each side. We ended up watching the world cup finals here and it turned out to be a great spot to catch a game. The only thing I didn't like, was watching the game with a bunch of Korean fobs. There's no need to scream every time they get even remotely close to the goal. Just sayin. read more

I am not going to lie, I've seen this restaurant many times on Yelp when I was looking for some place to eat nearby but I never even bothered to come because of their rating. I mean it's not low. It's average I guess but I was a bit scared to try myself. Saw my friend checking in to this restaurant many times and I asked her why she goes here and she responded saying this place has the best Ddukbbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes). I was like 'hmm..really?' but she said yes. So I decided to trust her words and try it. I went during dinner time and there were many customers already eating. The server sat us at the corner by the entrance and we sat there and looked through the menu. I was able to see the kitchen from where I was seating and for most part, their kitchen looked clean from what I saw. The menu was pretty amazing if you ask me. They had so much food on there. I have problem choosing and deciding on a menu so I was just looking and made my boyfriend order. As for the price goes, its not cheap but not too expensive. I guess it's average. We ordered RaDdukSoon which was Ddukbbokki with ramen noodles and soondae (korean sausage), and Bulgogi Kimbob. Shortly after we got our food. RaDduksoon was served on a very large plate. I loved their Ddukbbokki even before I ate it because of the rice cake size. I love small tiny rice cakes over long and large ones. So I was happy to see that. Everything on that plate was good. It wasnt too spicy or too sweet so I liked it. Their soondae was pretty hot but it was good and it is definitely better than Gongsugan (in Walnut/Diamond Bar area). One thing I wasnt really amazed was their Kimbob. We got Bulgogi but it didnt really tasted like the meat was seasoned right. The rolls were pretty big but they didnt roll it too good that it all just 'opened' when I grabbed it so that was very irritating. Gongsugan has better Kimbob though theirs isnt a Bulgogi Gimbob. Service was OK. Like I said since we were sitting in a corner, the girls couldnt spot us many times and we just had to wait until they came by. I tried so hard to get their attention when I saw them through the kitchen but all of them were busy looking at their smartphones so yeah. So to make things short, Ddukbbokki was worth trying but wasnt too sure about their Kimbob and their customer service. Oh, and I dont like how they have the plates and cups by every table. I know its facing down and all but I thought that was pretty unsanitary because they put a paper towel? looking thing on the bottom of the tray and placed the bowls and cups there. But on top of those paper towel, you can see some dirty looking undefined small objects there. That grossed me out. I think they should just stick to giving customers their cups, bowls/plates and silverware when they actually arrive and sit at the table rather than having everything there already for their convenience. Although there was minimal service, the workers were all very nice when they came to take our order and bring the check. Upon opening the menu, I was a bit overwhelmed with all the various options of their dishes (literally there was like 15+ different ways you can get your fried rice and a lot of combos) Their menu is very colorful and has a lot of pictures, which I thought was very helpful. Food: Rabokki + kimbap combo: don't let the bright red sauce scare you in the Rabokki. There was a lot of flavor in the sauce with a great balance with spice. The rice cakes and the ramen was cooked very well, not too chewy nor overcooked :) The kimbap rolls were pretty big but nothing special about them. Kimchi Fried Rice: the portion size was HUGE! but there was nothing special about it.
