I got a TON of bread, all of which was great! All of it kept well (still good for at least two or three days on the counter) and toasted great too! The baguette was slightly crunchy and not quite as dry as others (4.25/5). The plain and everything bagels were also good (4.5/5); they were nice, airy, and chewy. The tomato and olive focaccia was pretty good and not too oily (4.5/5), so I was able to eat a lot more of it in a sitting without it upsetting my stomach or feeling gross. The sourdough was crunchy and airy (4.5/5). My favorite was the Calabrian Pitta (5/5); it was very airy and slightly crunchy but also soft and chewy! I demolished it even faster than the others and will definitely be going back for more! The service was great too; the staff are nice and friendly (4.5/5). read more

We parked nearby and thought the things we could see in the window looked good so we ventured inside. We arrived shortly before they close so I'm sure earlier in the day the selection is even bigger, but there was still a lot to choose from. This is an off shoot of D'Anoia's down the street. They make sandwiches l, have a plethora of baked goods and have a coffee bar. My wife ordered several baked goods and all were tasty. We also ordered a delicious cacio e Pepe focaccia, loved this one. Also ordered a cacio e pepe sourdough loaf to take home. It was great bread to have with butter or to make sandwiches with. Such delicious and wide variety of Italian sandwiches from the same owners of DiAnoia's! That being said we went for breakfast and they just have one breakfast sandwich option: a biscuit with egg and cheese and optional bacon add on. It was yummy, smooth, simple. Not sure if I would come back just for the breakfast sandwich but will absolutely make my rounds to grab a lunch sandwich--that would likely increase this review to a 5. Really great, would give it a 5 but some of the stuff is too expensive. Had a sandwich, was awesome. Service was decent, but the area is very crowded and in the winter I bet that's super annoying because you wouldn't be able to access the tables outside. Pane è Pronto is a fantastic Italian takeout spot from the owners of DiAnoia's Eatery & Pizzeria Davide, both located a few blocks down the street. Don't be fooled by it's little size, this place has SO much to offer, including 8 types of house-baked breads and homemade ready-made dishes to go, including sandwhiches, soups, dips, spreads, sauces, fresh pasta, etc. Everything they make is incredibly delicious - and they have tons of vegan options as well. Great spot to pick up a ready-made lunch and grab some fresh pasta and bread to cook for up dinner. They also offer catering as well. Truly delectable, everything the put out is 10/10! read more

The bread is pretty good, but I'd avoid the premade sandwiches. I think they were great when they first opened, but the sandwiches have gone way downhill. Yesterday we tried the Italian roast beef and the salami fontina. The roast beef had something on it that was overpoweringly cloyingly sweet and a grossly thick layer of cream cheese--neither of us could eat it. Oooooooh Baby! Their bakery is the next best thing to eating at their restaurant! My auto drool is on every time I get near this place. My car seems to naturally turn in its direction no matter which way I'm going near the strip district. Their focaccia - - I don't care what anyone says, and I've tried most of them - - is the very best in Pittsburgh, maybe farther a field. There pignolia cookies are phenomenal. This place is simply awesome. They are specialized in excellent Italian baked goods, and they truly fill that niche excellently. This place is associated with the famous DiAnoia's, which I have yet to try, but I am now excited to. At Pane e Pronto, I ordered the pistachio bomboloni and a chocolate chip cookie. Both of the items were absolutely excellent! The entire bakery has a ton excellent Italian baked goods, like delicious-looking breads and pastries that I will try next time. As for the classic chocolate chip cookie, it was great! Decent price for the portion ($2.50), but it was delicious. Packed with tons of chocolate and quite soft. Not too sweet either. Great! But the even more delicious item was the incredible pistachio filled bomboloni. Bomboloni is somewhat similar to an Italian donut. The dough is covered in sugar and vey soft. It is stuffed with an immense amount of delicious pistachio filling. Somewhat creamy and the perfect amount of sweetness. I loved it! All in all, I thought this place was amazing and I will definitely be back. The food was delicious and they have tons of great Italian delicacies for sale. Excellent small-but-large bakery and carry-out place. Small in terms of the front area with a display case, a couple small fridges, and a table laden with fresh bread. Large if you look in the back, and realize this is where much of the magic happens for the sister restaurant down the street and a thriving catering biz. Awesome bread and sandwiches! It's close to my office and we visit whenever we are in the office. Tons of flavor and great ingredients.

Much of my review is based on my personal preferences. We ordered the mangia mangia meal, which comes with pasta, two large meatballs, salad, bread, and marinara sauce. We also picked up a couple of day old bread at half price. I must preface this by saying that even though I am Swedish Hungarian, I make great pasta from scratch and tasty sauce. And my meatballs are darn good too. I thought the food was good but except for the salad, not overwhelmingly better than mine. The salad, though, was terrific much much better than mine. I prefer crusty bread, but the cacia has good flavor. As does the focaccia, another thing I make. But the best focaccia is at this little place in San Francisco's North Beach, called Liguria. Help was friendly and definitely 5 star. Serving size was plenty big for 2 people. I chose Casarecce for the style of pasta and was very pleased with that. I think next time, I need to find something a little more out of the ordinary. But I'm glad we came. read more

I had high expectations of this place since it's owned by the same people as DiAnoia's. And actually, I like this place more than DiAnoia's! The sourdough boules are great (and cheap if you get the day old sourdough) and they freeze great for later snacking/cheese plates. The cauliflower are a must. They taste like a guilty treat that you just can't stop eating! I also like their sweet foccacia with grapes and their sandwiches. Actually, I probably should just stop listing all the things that I like, because I like almost everything that I've tried here! It reminds of me growing up in NJ with lots of good Italian food around. DiAnoia's does it again! I've been anxiously awaiting the opening of this shop and it does not disappoint. At all. Fresh bread including the most incredible baguettes that we're the perfect addition to the meal we purchased for home. We grabbed fresh caprese salad, marinara sauce and fresh pasta to cook at home. A great little bakery/deli in the strip affiliated with D'Anoias just a few blocks away. They offer a selection of fresh-baked breads, pastries, cookies, frozen and ready-to-eat meals, noodles and side dishes. From the moment I entered the Pane e Pronto store I was immediately in awe of not only the delicious scents of baked goods wafting through the air and the eye-pleasing display of the delicious and beautiful baked goods I was greeted by the friendly and oh-so helpful and accommodating staff.  It was an experience and I want to experience that again. :) We tried the take-home lasagna, they cost $10 each and 3 of them would make a huge standard size full lasagna pan. I reheated after I froze and it was STILL delicious. We also tried some cookies and some of the savory pastries and I am still thinking about them! So good a must try! read more

I stopped by here a couple of Saturday's ago with my wife. The reason that we came to Pane e Pronto was to pick up food for a Yelp event but we had actually been planning on coming here over a weekend before that. So this ended up being the perfect excuse to head down to the Strip District. Whenever we arrived at the shop there was another customer inside and since it was small and asked that no more than 2 customers were inside at a time due to the pandemic, we waited outside. After a few minutes of waiting that customer was done and we headed inside. It's not the biggest space but they do have a nice bread area as well as some hot prepared food, a refrigerated section and also some fresh pasta. In addition to the greens n beans kit we were there to pick up, we bought a hodge podge of other items including a premade lasagna, pesto, a pint of wedding soup and finally a day old cacio e Pepe bread. After paying we headed home with everything. The first thing that I tried out of everything we bought was the bread and holy cow was it good. The pepper and cheese in it was really tasty and, as sad as it is to admit, the loaf was gone by the end of the evening and I was the only person eating it! My wife was the one to enjoy the wedding soup and thought that there was a good amount of items in it. Over the next few days I was also able to eat some of the lasagna as well as the pesto. Both were good with the red sauce being the star of the lasagna and then the pesto sauce being the star of a pasta dish that we had made. It ended up being bright with a great flavor to it. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. All of our food was good and I will continue having dreams about that bread until I get to taste it again. read more

As I was heading back to my car after getting my candy from Mon Aimee chocolates I stumbled upon this place. I knew it had recently opened so I was looking forward to trying it out for myself. They permit only two people in at time but since I was the only one there I walked right in. The lady at the counter explained that it is a like an Italian marketplace with food to takeout. All their breads are made in house and they also carry cold foods as well as prepared hot foods. Sides and pastries are also available along with fresh pasta for sale. An extension of DiAnoia's down the block the thrust is on some of the best Italian made foods you can get in the city. Since I wanted to get something to take home she suggested I order hot foods because it will keep until I get back and will still be warm enough to eat. I decided to get the chicken parmesan (doesn't come with spaghetti) but the size of the chicken is big! She suggested I get as my side the squash, zucchini blend in stewed tomatoes which I gladly purchased. She added parmesan cheese at my request. The grape filled bread looked inviting but she did warn me that those grapes were pitted so I decided to pass on that for now. When I got the food home it was still fairly hot so I could enjoy some of it for lunch. The chicken parmesan was very good but seemed slightly dry. I covered it with additional sauce it came with to make it more enjoyable. On the other hand the squash, zucchini stewed tomatoes were outstanding. I had purchased the small size but next time I definitely will get a larger size of this side dish. I have always enjoyed eating at DiAnoia's and their new concept did not disappoint. Anyone who knows anything about Italian food in the 'burgh, knows that DiAnoia's is where it's at. I am loving this new concept from their genius minds... and I think it came at just the right time, during this crazy pandemic we are in. I stopped by recently to pick-up some items for Thanksgiving. I went with their cranberry & pistachio sourdough (a special for Thanksgiving) and some meatballs to-go. The meatballs were PERFECT for a holiday week, because I was able to make very easy meals with them throughout the week- I made meatball hoagies and just had the meatballs as a main course the other night. You get 6 huge meatballs in an order, with plenty of sauce. The sourdough was insanely good- we loved it for our Thanksgiving meal and I froze some of the extra slices, which I have been loving all toasted up along some soup. Ordering was super easy- I just ordered and paid online, stated the time I was going to pick-up the items, and went to pick them up. I found parking across the street easily and I was in and out of there in minutes. Will be back for SURE! read more

This place is somewhat overrated. The food is above average at best and the service is somewhat mediocre. The last time I came in, there was an unpleasant blonde woman behind the counter who acted like I was inconveniencing her. I respect that the business tries to prevent food waste by selling day old bakery products for 1/2 off. The antipasto I got was too salty and had way too many peppers inside. I expected more from an establishment that's ran by the same people as DiAnoia's. I'll try this place again eventually however, there are definitely better bakeries in the Strip District. read more

I stopped at this amazing place to pick up a kit for yelp's cooking class. I was wowed by how amazing everything looked. The selection isn't huge, but what is there packs a punch. There are several bread options, sandwiches, a hot bar and frozen options. I eventually decided on a Cacio e Pepe sourdough, 3 cheese lasagna and a ham and provolone puff. The sourdough is probably one of my favorite breads I've ever eaten. It is a perfect balance of pepper and is so fresh. The other two items were tasty as well. I had been to the restaurant before but didn't know this existed. I'm glad I do, because I'll make sure to visit any time I'm in the Strip. read more

I stopped by DiAnoia's new concept, Pane e Pronto, for their grand opening a couple of weeks ago and got the pane -- a gorgeous rosemary focaccia -- as well as some fresh pasta and marinara to make at home. Today I went to the pronto side for some lunch, grabbing a roasted cauliflower that's similar to the one I love so much at the parent restaurant, just without the pesto and pine nuts, and could not pass up this Nutella-filled dessert. They also have several panini and pasta options for lunch, at about a $10 price point. It's a nice addition to the Strip. Just two customers at a time right now, and the shop wouldn't be able to hold much more than that even in a non-Covid environment, so you'll need to wait your turn outside until other customers are finished. read more

Omg! This is my happy place. I didn't realize this existed until I walked past on my way to DiAnoias. Reasonable prices for the homemade goodness you receive. It's dangerous if you like pastries and bread! Good luck trying to only buy 1-2 things. Service was so wonderful. We pre-ordered but I wanted to add things on for a same day dinner. They swapped the frozen sauce I purchased for fresh since I was serving same day (fresh was out when I ordered). I will absolutely be ordering frequently! Dropped in this week to satisfy a sweet tooth. I'd heard great things about Pane e Pronto but wanted to see for myself. I got a Pignoli cookie (think soft sugar/lemon cookie with pine nuts and powdered sugar on top) and a bombolino which was like a donut sprinkled in sugar with a Nutella core. I really enjoyed the pignoli cookie as it was unique and a pairing of flavors I've never had before. My wife has a tree nut allergy and so this tasty morsel was all mine! The bombolino was an interesting concept, and definitely up my wife's alley, but the donut was stiff and airy (like maybe it was a day old?) and there wasn't hardly any Nutella to be found. That was a bit of a disappointment as I was really looking forward to the surprise/excitement on my wife's face and this just didn't deliver. There are so many other bakery options as well as bread, pasta and prepared meals so I would really like to go back for round two and try again. But seriously, the pignoli was super good! read more

I stopped in here last weekend to pick up a kit for an upcoming Yelp class. I stopped in around 2 on Saturday afternoon and in a rare occurrence for the strip, I was the only customer in here at the time! This little shop is an extension of Di'Anoia's and it's right up the block from the restaurant. Pane e Pronto serves fresh sandwiches, hot foods and soups, cold/frozen items, and breads! In addition to picking up my kit, I purchased some greens and beans, wedding soup, and of course a pint of Millie's ice cream. The store itself is not very large and they are only allowing two customers inside at a time. Both of the staff members there were very helpful and friendly. I will definitely be in again to try a sandwich! read more

Ok, so I've never been to the shop. But they deliver to a neighborhood corner market where I pick up their small baguettes. I should say _try_ to pick them up. Because the market is almost always out of them. Because they're So Crazy Good! seriously. The market keeper said that other customers call at 8AM to pick them up after work at 6. Just the right amount for two people to share with soup or salad, or one person to have for lunch with fruit or cheese. Just the right amount of tang. Perfect crust. Goldilocks softness (ie, not too soft, not too hard). Just great. Looking forward to a trip to the Strip to see them in action. (And ask if they would deliver a loaf at a time ; ) read more
