Super cute place with very friendly staff. They aren't open on Monday's and have a hoagie special everyday but Sunday (see pic). It's a bakery and small grocery in one. All of the available bread the day I visited was pre sliced. Pasta was a good price for shapes you can't find anywhere. There is also a deli section. The only confusion was the sandwiches, it's not clear what and when you can order what. After asking you can always get a cold sub but I didn't see a menu or prices. They also have pre made Italian hoagies in the cooler. I'll def stop back when I'm on that side of town. read more

This is such a gem! I stopped by to grab some treats around lunch time on a Friday, and it wasn't too crowded. The staff helped me narrow down my choices and was super helpful. I got a bunch of stuff and two loaves of bread for $17! My favorite was their chocolate bomb. It's so moist and creamy. Their baklava was good too, very buttery. I also liked their coconut walnut cookie. Didn't think I would like coconut cookies, but that coconut walnut combination worked so well together! There's plenty of parking in their lot. We chose a chocolate doughnut, pineapple upside down cake, baklava, chocolate covered cream puff, banana bread, and limoncello tart. Everything was amazing. I always love a giant cream puff - the chocolate icing on top of this one was really good. There are chocolate-less cream puffs too. The banana bread and limoncello tart really surprised me with HOW good they are. The banana bread is super dense and moist with a thick cream layer in the middle. The limoncello tart is such a good lemon flavor with tons of lemon curd filling topped with thick whipped cream. read more

I always forget about this little shop as I drive past on Grove Road, on the way to or from somewhere else. A friend swears by them and this time I actually turned around after passing to go back and stop in around lunchtime. They get busy! Many of the Italian groceries you might want, from pantry staples to fresh mozzarella and Parmesan; it's not Penn Mac, but think of a similar concept on a much smaller scale. Also a full deli case; they sliced two cheeses for me thinly, with paper in between. So nice! I also got a fresh-sliced loaf of homestyle bread -- all the breads looked amazing! -- a big pizza boat to heat and split for lunch, a loaf of frozen garlic bread and, because you can't walk away from that bakery case empty handed, a chocolate cake roll. Everything has been DELISH so far. There are cases of frozen pastas to boil or just heat up at home, and fresh lunch specials like a sub and soup that were attracting a bit of a crowd at I was leaving (this is a place where there are clearly regulars who stop in often and know one another and the staff). I will be making a point to stop in here more often, and next time I am definitely trying a piece of tiramisu from that bakery case because I've been regretting passing it by since I was in the checkout process. read more

My 'go to' place for a cold Italian hoagie. The hoagie roll is sooo fresh. The lunch meat and cheese are plentiful, fresh and tasty. Five bucks, I'm in and out. We'll, I would be, but I'll just grab a fresh loaf of Italian bread, and an assortment of their delicious baked goods for my lovely bride, a fresh pie for dessert and I'll just check to see what they're soup of the day is. THEN, I'm out of there. And I need a little more than five bucks. But it is so worth it. read more

This is a very nice Italian bakery, deli and small grocery store. They have a daily sandwich special and I got the meatball hoagie that they offered for $7. It was a big sandwich with tasty meatballs and shredded cheese. I checked out some of the other items and their bread and cookies look really good. They have fresh loaves of Italian bread for $1.50. Prices are pretty good on the baked items. There is also some pizzas ready to bake--there looked good and the price wasn't bad. Many of the grocery items could also be found in supermarkets at a lower price so I wouldn't come strictly for those items. Service was very friendly and efficient. read more

Cibrone M and Sons is more than a bakery. It is an Italian grocery store where you can buy dry goods, Italian breads 2 for $3.00 daily, and refrigerated items including dairy and cold drinks. Want to make a pizza? They have premade crusts here. The deli section has a good selection of fresh meats, side dishes, and they do offer daily lunch specials. If you want to eat it then you need to take it home or eat in your car. They had a nice selection of baked goods as well. I was intrigued with a cookie they called pumpkin cranberry, with white chocolate chips in it. These cookies sell for $6.00 dozen but I opted for one just to top of my lunch. I loved how they decorated the sugar cookies for Halloween. Took my cookie which was unusually different but still very good. Cibrone is located on Grove Rd across from Bob's diner. Getting out on the road can pose a bit of a problem with traffic coming down the hill from Caste Village. Nevertheless I was glad for the opportunity to stumble on this place and am looking forward to trying some of their other pastries. I did not get a chance to price the groceries since there was nothing that interested me but they do have a great selection of Italian foods for whatever you want to make. read more

I grew up in New Jersey, but I lived in the south for over twenty years, and one thing I grew to deeply miss was a real Italian deli. Jersey Mike's and Wawa just didn't cut it because neither of them could get the bread right. When I moved to Pittsburgh, I found delis more faithful to my memories, but not quite. My husband and I saw Cibrone's while we were having breakfast at Bob's Diner across the street, and I made a mental note to pay a visit. So I did, on a day it was running a sausage sandwich special. Hot sausage sandwiches are one of my favorites, and the first bite almost made me cry because the bread was right, the sausage was right, EVERYTHING was right. In addition to its fantastic sandwiches, it sells some of the best Italian bread I've ever eaten. The cost? $3.30--for two big pre-sliced loaves. Everything I've tried, from brownies to pepperoni rolls, has been nothing less than amazing. Best yet, it's not far from my house and the prices are excellent. If you're anywhere in the South Hills, you owe it to yourself to come to Cibrone's. It is, as the kids say, dope and legit. read more

Not only are there a variety of baked goods at the bakery and deli counters, but there are fridges full of different items like pizza crusts to make your own. And you've come to the right place because you can get the crust, the fresh mozzarella, and toppings - plus the cannoli for dessert! There are also other specialty items that they carry on the shelves in the store as well such as olive oils, pastas, and sauces. I don't go here all the time because it seems a little pricey compared to a normal grocery run, but the quality is absolutely there and more than worth it! Nice little market and bakery. Stop by for lunch and got the daily special at a really reasonable price. Had the 12 inch Italian Hoagie for $6.50 and it was longer then 12 inches filled with fresh cheese and meats. Picked up some pepperoni rolls for a party and they were a big hit. While small, the market area has a lot of good Italian items that you see at Penn Mac and some of the stores in the Strip. During the summer we went to a friends house to BBQ pizza in a Big Green Egg and they bought the crust at Cibrone's; very good crust. read more

Awful first time experience. I had high expectations based on the reviews. Been to many bakeries in the Pittsburgh area and this one is highly overrated and customer service is awful. 1) Lady who served us was very condescending and expected us to know what each of the items were called - mind you there were no labels attached for the items inside the display counters. As we were making our choices, she would look at us impatiently and sigh like she was doing us a big favor. When we'd try and point to something, she'd frown, sigh and grab it for us. When we'd try and call out an item based on what it's called in other places, she would very condescendingly, correct us. 2) As we were paying, a gentleman from the back came and stood to talk to one of the ladies. I looked at him and smiled and he just glared us down. Whatever happened to just greeting someone, let alone a customer at your establishment, with a friendly greeting?? I was hoping our experience was unique to one individual but not sure after the experience with the second individual. I ordered sandwich trays, the lettuce and tomato we asked to put on the side. The tomatos were a mess, they were so thin and runny they were like tissue paper they included the ends, they should have thrown them away, the shredded lettuce was brown and wet. Clean, friendly Italian store and bakery. They sell the best homemade meatballs..larger ones, and the small to add to wedding soup. They are priced right so it makes more sense to buy theirs than to make your own. The bakery has wonderful fresh bread, and the pastries and cakes are fresh and delicious. They make a "beehive cake" with a mixture of Bavarian cream and butter cream in the middle of yellow cake, with honey almond praline topping that is amazing for only $10! Second only to PennMac, as far as Italian deli prices and offerings. Love their breads and baked goods. The premade pizzas are always a crowd favorite. They are great for parties, and freeze well, and are cheap, making it easy to always have 1 or 2 on hand in case you have an impromptu get together. An old time favorite is the Salt Sticks, but they only have those on the weekends. They take holiday orders as well so you have exactly what you need and it's fresh. read more

Stopped in this morning to pick up some pepperoni rolls, The older lady that waited on me was very rude. I asked for some pepperoni rolls and all I got back was attitude. No wonder the dinner across the street from them gets there bread from Mancini's. I will drive to the strip for friendlier service, better bread and it is much less expensive. read more

Stopped here on my way home and picked up some random inexpensive pastries, because, why not? Service was friendly and fast, and I was in and out in 10 minutes during rush hour. I had the cream puff, which was ice in the middle and stale. There was really no enjoying what appeared to be vanilla pudding inside the puff. The icing on top was more of a film and the pastry itself tasted oddly, which is typical if a pastry is refrigerated for too long, as it absorbs odors and stales. The lady lock wasn't terrible, but I was not a fan of the filling. I will admit I enjoy a good buttercream, and found this to be gritty and flavorless. The sprinkles made it appealing, but I didn't finish it. Finally, the brownie. I had asked for one with nuts, and this one was without--partly my fault for not checking prior to leaving the bakery. It was coated with a layer of sugar on the bottom. The cake was chewy and moist, and more of a cake-like brownie. The icing was actually good, but had stuck to the paper liner, so I had to scrape it off and put it back on the brownie. I'm sure I'll stop again at some point and give this place another try, considering I haven't tried the bread or pepperoni rolls. I'll probably attempt the sweets again, because I'm terrible at controlling my sugar intake. And I'll update my review when I do. read more
