Stopped here on a whim looking to yelp about a Bakery because it's Sunday The shop is in a plaza with plenty of parking spots and it's small. The store has three cases inside filled with cookies, decorated waffles, cupcakes, cakes, donuts and a few other things. Two ladies were inside and the one greeted me asking if I was looking for anything in particular. After looking in the cases and asking what the first two cupcakes were, I decided I could get one chocolate with delicious chocolate icing and one peanut butter chocolate. When in doubt- choose the cupcakes! Both were very delicious and slightly different. The peanut butter icing was EPIC. Such a sweet, nutty flavor but not overkill sweetness. The cupcake was tasty but not as moist as I expected. It had a delicious chocolate icing filling in it which made a fun surprise when cutting inside. The chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing was more moist (perfect moisture actually) and the icing on top was fun with the chocolate shavings! I think I loved the peanut butter icing most with the moisture of the chocolate cupcake from the chocolate icing one. I'd love to note that the lady asked me if I had been before and I told her no, it was my first time. She told me these cupcakes are on her - which I couldn't believe and SO appreciated this sweet gesture. Overall, I'd be interested in getting their items again. I also plan to ask what the staple is next time I go, as I feel like all places have one thing they are dying to rave about. This seems like a small business worth supporting! read more

This is a wonderful bakery. Extremely friendly and inviting. I needed a cake last minute and they had the perfect one! I was very impressed with the pricing, I went in expecting to pay double what I did. They had pre packaged cupcakes and other treats as well, so if you need something for a get together or party, I highly recommend stopping in this shop! Can't wait to go back and try more goodies! I know this bakery has been around for a while, but I just recently discovered it. I've actually been here 3 times now and have tried a variety of things. Most were very tasty. My favorite item is definitely the cookies. Excellent. They were nice and big and didn't have that typical "bakery" taste to them. You would swear they were homemade. Other things are good too, like the hand pies, the donuts and the gobs. My only beef is that, except for the cookies, their things are very expensive. On my second visit I sampled a few things and ended up dropping $40. They have no prices listed in the store. Ended up paying $4 per gob. Almost $5 for the hand pie. Over $4 for just one donut log. Those things were good, but not worth the money. If you visit, make sure you ask for the price before you buy. For me, I will definitely be back, but I'll just get cookies in the future. read more

Swung by as I was in the area with a friend that recommended it...I mean, who in their right mind drives by a bakery anyway, right? It's a small place in a little plaza, but they have some really, really good stuff! As with my usual, I picked this and that, let me have two of these and some of those...oooohhh...is that biscotti? Gimme 4. Came home with a couple bags and a box of treats. Although I've not finished them all, what I've had tells me that it's all yummy! Seriously...wow! Great stuff! Even though my dad's had a friend in New Ken for quite some time, we didn't know about this bakery until an article in the Trib about it's 60th anniversary (it'd been founded downstream, though). For urbanite Pittsburghers like us, the location in a strip mall on a heavily-trafficked yet seemingly-rural road presented a worthwhile adventure! As for the goods: the sfogliatelle here might actually be the best in the region, but other goods lack behind. The sfogliatelle have just the right flavor in the filling, and somehow manage to stay fresh and crunchy even a day later. Pasticciotti were disappointing---dough was too thick, and the filling's a creamy custard rather than ricotta-based; I prefer Moio's for that. Ciabatta was pleasantly crusty and yeasty, though a little expensive and white. I'd go again for sfogliatelle, and maybe try a classic Italian bread instead of ciabatta. read more

My wife and I were ecstatic to learn that a new bakery moved into the same plaza where Fox's Pizza is located on Leechburg Road. This is not a trendy shop that you hit up because your phone needs charged or because you want to Instagram yourself sipping on espressos while eating a scone. No, this is an old school bakery with excellent breads, cookies, and pastries à la Jenny Lee style. Mazziotti Bakery was previously located on Freeport Road in New Kensington, but the shop is under new ownership and has filled a much needed niche in Lower Burrell. There are numerous options for the person with a sweet tooth. The cookies - whether chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, or chocolate crinkles - are huge and always fresh. They also offer up cupcakes, danishes, eclairs, and a number of other pastries. You can purchase or order round or sheet cakes for any occasion. The bakery also has pepperoni rolls, round buns, Italian bread in both small and large loafs, and a number of other types of bread. Both the bread and buns are fresh. The bread in particular is a worthwhile purchase whether using it to make sandwiches or adding it to a pasta dish. Either way, it is fantastic. Next time you're at Giant Eagle, skip their bakery and drive down to Mazziotti Bakery instead. Your taste buds will be rewarded, and you will be supporting a deserving local business! read more

Well I'm a fan, they had me sold on these wonderful chocolate chip cookies. But it didn't stop there, my wife and I can't complain about one darn thing. Cupcakes are perfect, pastries are delightful, and did I mention the cookies!!! I had to stop myself from buying everything, honestly their Chocolate peanut butter pie was calling my name. I'll definitely be back for some more cookies and a whole pie! One last thing, the service was the best that I've had in a long time, another local bakery which is good has such horrible service at times. I have visited Mazziotti Bakery several times since opening in Lower Burrell. I have never been disappointed in anything that I have bought. This Thanksgiving I figured I would try their pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll, hands down the best I ever had! There bakery is smaller but the service is friendly and everything is delicious! Kudos to Mazziotti's for bringing a 5-star bakery to the area. I have ordered numerous cakes from them and was never disappointed. Many of my guests over the years have wanted to know where I purchased the cake. My 25th wedding anniversary cake was absolutely beautifully decorated and the batter was extremely moist. I highly suggest trying their chocolate chip cookies. My daughter highly suggests trying the coconut cream pie. Everything I bought was stale, the donuts were tasteless, the cookies were crumbly with no taste, the gob icing was way too sweet, the peach turnover, I took one bite and tossed it! I will never shop there again! My money was wasted, very disappointed.....way overpriced! read more
