When I told her it was my husband's birthday, she put a cute little HBD pick in his cinnamon roll donut, which was AMAZING, by the way. Some other donuts we got were the maple, Pittsburgh cream, blueberry, and sour cream. They sell dog treats that my dogs devoured in a second! I'm eager to try their cakes and cupcakes. read more

My sister usually goes to the bakery, and occasionally picks me up things she thinks I might like. Yesterday it was a "Chocolate Lover's Dream". It was so good, that I want more. However, knowing that I take lunch to work, she also bought me a pepperoni roll. I had no idea that Stoeklein's even sold them. I had it today and I am surprised (pleasantly), it was really good. Small family owned bakery where everything is made from scratch. I tried the red velvet cake, eclair, chocolate brownie, and peanut butter brownie. It was a pretty good value for the amount you get. I keep comparing this place to Oakmont Bakery since it's quite close. Definitely a much smaller selection, but I saved $5 on the cake. Didn't save much in the pastries. They have a half off section that I recommend you take advantage of. The quality is great there as well. The cake wasn't a big hit. The icing is very sweet, the filling doesn't taste very cream cheese like, and the batter was quite flavorless. Some else called it "plasticy." Eclair was a good size and the filling was great. Filled well, good flavor, icing is perfect. Recommend getting that. Brownies were okay. Didn't have much flavor. While I typically enjoy peanut butter, I preferred the regular to the PB brownie. Didn't have a string flavor but both were fudgey. Overall, I'd still return here from time to time just to try the Napoleon, pies, pepperoni rolls, pineapple upside down cake, donuts, and other goods. How this bakery got a 4.5 star review truly has me scratching my head. Realizing they don't wish to be having excess product at the end of the day, they ought to worry if they have enough product at the end of the day. Product availability should be bountiful as they forget to place some items in the box but charge you for those items you did purchase. You call to ask about it and are told "oh yea we put those in a bag, you can come up and pick them up. No apology only attitude. Very rude ignorant people. I basically told her to put the where the sun don't shine and absolutely refuse to go back. The pastry really wasn't that great to begin with. Very dry. I'd suggest buying a gallon of milk to flush that ***t down. It must be family members or made up names for this place to get 4.5 stars because I seriously doubt if they are truly customers. Horrible baked goods + extremely rude people = this guy not going back. Community Market, Giant Eagle, or Dunkin are the choices I'll make in the future. Used to love this place. i'm a local and loved giving them my business but the last couple times i've placed orders they have been messed up. I don't feel welcomed when walking in. Their hours are always changing and that's just not good business. It makes me sad to see a business going downhill. I love supporting local businesses but i will be taking my money else where. Their items also don't even taste the same anymore. I had to go out in blizzard- like conditions this past week because I had a Dr appointment. On the way home, I remembered my husband wanted fresh baked bread. He's very particular about the sandwiches he makes for work. I noticed Stoecklin's and hoped they had freshly baked bread or buns. Scrumptious, freshly baked smells greeted me as soon as I opened the door to this unassuming store. They have everything: cakes, pies, cookies, donuts, bread, buns, and some fanciful creations... ..... one looked like a mini chocolate bombe. Yum, I'll be getting that next time. I ordered donuts, buns, and apple fritters. All of which where delicious. Everything is made from scratch. You can tell because these are the kind of donuts you don't eat just for the filling, but because the donut bread is just as delicious as the filling. A simple sugar-coated donut is light and freshly baked...Oh, so good. Finally, I got my powerball ticket there....yes, they sell those, too. Check them out on Facebook. BEAWARE of what you ask for to what YOU actually RECEIVE.... SOOO disappointed in this bakery.. I NEVER leave a bad review for anything or anybody, but THIS incident couldn't be waivered.. I purchased what I thought was carrot cake cupcakes ONLY to taste a spiced caked with buttered cream icing.. I did the right thing and confronted the bakery and the young lady told me this is ours... and a oh well send off... The cupcake looks sandy with hints of spice... THIS is not a carrot cake in MY eyes or the party I had catered to.. They were very disappointed and so was I.. Carrot cake is just what you get "CARROTS" throughout the cake at least pieces of carrot that you could SEE, that's WHY its called CARROT CAKE and the sole reason why you like carrot cake. this is what you want to bite into.. That's NOT what I received ... WHERE'S the Carrots??? maybe this is a boxed caked mix perhaps and is why there's no sign of carrots, only the baker knows.. This is a genuine old school bakery where everything is fresh made from scratch. Simple and delicious offerings. Donuts, cookies, cakes, breads all really good. Nice people and good service with a mom and pop atmosphere. What nudged them to five stars in my review is their coffee cake. Really top notch. As a child, I was spoiled by my uncle's local bakery, which had great cakes and fantastic doughnuts. I still dream of those doughnuts, just the right combination of crispy and soft and sweet. There are few places in the world that have doughnuts that can match those from my childhood, and this is one of them. Their doughnuts are terrific. I would give five stars based on the doughnuts alone. Oh wait - I have given them five stars! Other pastries are good as well, bread is also quite good, but the doughnuts are their shining stars. Service? Inconsistent. Sometimes they are totally friendly and other times they seem put out by my excited children who want to look at everything and take forever to decide what to get - they are kids for goodness sake! But, in spite of the staff's looks of disapproval, I know that in just a few minutes we'll all be in a delicious, sugary food coma, brought on by the delightful doughnuts that make Stoecklein's the best of bakeries. We used to always get our cakes from here when we were in town, but they changed the buttercream icing and now the cakes are just like ones you can get at any grocery store. They used to have the best cakes anywhere. They also changed the frosting on their crullers, and those aren't as good either. No need to stop here anymore. read more

i loved the cakes from this bakery. unfortunately since my last cake order in october ,they seem to have changed the recipe for the icing. it is claimed to be buttercream. its awful! its not buttercream at all. ugh. it tastes like powered sugar and some other tasteless substance. the birthday cake was largely uneaten,none of the guests, kids would eat it. i will be looking for a new bakery unfortunately ,unless they go back to the old recipe. disappointment. read more
