Small family owned bakery where everything is made from scratch. I tried the red velvet cake, eclair, chocolate brownie, and peanut butter brownie. It was a pretty good value for the amount you get. I keep comparing this place to Oakmont Bakery since it's quite close. Definitely a much smaller selection, but I saved $5 on the cake. Didn't save much in the pastries. They have a half off section that I recommend you take advantage of. The quality is great there as well. The cake wasn't a big hit. The icing is very sweet, the filling doesn't taste very cream cheese like, and the batter was quite flavorless. Some else called it "plasticy." Eclair was a good size and the filling was great. Filled well, good flavor, icing is perfect. Recommend getting that. Brownies were okay. Didn't have much flavor. While I typically enjoy peanut butter, I preferred the regular to the PB brownie. Didn't have a string flavor but both were fudgey. Overall, I'd still return here from time to time just to try the Napoleon, pies, pepperoni rolls, pineapple upside down cake, donuts, and other goods. However, my go to bakery is still Oakmont.

This is a nice little bakery in Penn Hills. I've driven past this place so many times and didn't realize it was there. It's been there for over 14 years apparently. The pastries and cookies are really good and worth getting. The peach cheese strudel is a huge piece and worth it!

Wonderful local bakery. Everything is made fresh from scratch. Very friendly, excellent service. They make some of the best donuts in Pittsburgh.

    So many wonderful treats!

I love this little shop! I've been going here for years! Their cakes, cookies, and speciality desserts are all delicious! Be sure to stop by before holiday closings for half off sales. The staff here is very friendly. I fully recommend ordering your cakes from here. Also, the wedding cupcakes are sooooo good!

I had to go out in blizzard- like conditions this past week because I had a Dr appointment. On the way home, I remembered my husband wanted fresh baked bread. He's very particular about the sandwiches he makes for work. I noticed Stoecklin's and hoped they had freshly baked bread or buns. Scrumptious, freshly baked smells greeted me as soon as I opened the door to this unassuming store. They have everything: cakes, pies, cookies, donuts, bread, buns, and some fanciful creations... ..... one looked like a mini chocolate bombe. Yum, I'll be getting that next time. I ordered donuts, buns, and apple fritters. All of which where delicious. Everything is made from scratch. You can tell because these are the kind of donuts you don't eat just for the filling, but because the donut bread is just as delicious as the filling. A simple sugar-coated donut is light and freshly baked...Oh, so good. Finally, I got my powerball ticket there....yes, they sell those, too. Check them out on Facebook. They make their own chocolate candy at Easter, too. OMG! You have to try this place.

    Simple, cute, and extremely tasty.

This coffee shop is located right on Freeport Road in Blawnox. The inside is cozy, with photos on the walls, a couple of pastry cases, and a wall full of plants and plant-themed artwork. The bright wood tables, arranged in a herringbone pattern, paired nicely with the baby blue chairs and gave the shop a welcoming feel. After seeing that they exclusively served Rosa beans and seemed very proud of that, both my wife and I decided to order Americanos. My wife chose hers iced while I went with mine hot. My daughter ordered a cinnamon swirl, and I added a chicken empanada. About five minutes later our entire order was ready, and we headed back to the car. I started with the empanada. It had a nice flaky crust, and the chicken filling had good flavor, although it was a little on the dry side. My daughter didn't share her cinnamon swirl, but she assured me that it was good. After finishing my empanada, I moved on to my coffee and thought it was excellent. It opened with a touch of bitterness before settling into a smooth, rich coffee flavor that I really enjoyed. I was hoping to pick up some distinctive varietal notes on the finish but wasn't able to find any. Even so, it was still a very enjoyable cup of coffee. My wife also enjoyed her iced Americano. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed our coffees, and the food made for a nice accompaniment as well.

Definitely worth going out of your way for this one.

I picked up 2 cold brews for my bff, banana pudding for my pops and for me a cookie butter pudding (I think) for myself. To top it off I picked up a banana smores iced latte. No wonder this place is a diamond in the rough. I have never and I mean never had anything bad here. This locally owned and operated spot is located in the River Town Shopping Center at 148 Allegheny River Boulevard, Freedom Square Diner is a staple for locals in Verona, and the whole area. They opened in 2013, expanding from its original Cranberry Township location, and has since carved out a niche by focusing on breakfast and lunch with a warm, community-centered approach that works. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed and the cozy coffee counter near the entrance adds to the charm. The place is busy but still friendly and familiar, I mean I love a diner vibe ! The menu is extensive and IMO breakfast is the star of the show, with standout items like the Create Your Own Omelette, the Hungryman Breakfast off a nice spread of eggs, bacon, pancakes, and home fries, that's what Matt O. had and he's now a fan. I had the Nutella French Toast that was like a homage to Elvis with bananas, strawberries and lots of sweet goodness, it was special! I also got a side of sausage gravy and biscuit to share, and these Yinzers actually nailed this Southern favorite. For lunch, the Whale of a Fish Sandwich is a big favorite here, it's hand-breaded haddock on a hoagie roll with tartar sauce and fries. Other popular dishes include the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, the Steak Salad with garlic-marinated filet, and the Mushroom Swiss Burger with crispy fries. They even have Homemade clam chowder, I will definitely scope that out on my next visit. The diner has wheelchair-accessible entrances, outdoor dining, takeout, and offers a veterans discount, gotta love it! Good food, great service in a welcoming environment, it's highly recommended!!! Hours: Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
