The store has three cases inside filled with cookies, decorated waffles, cupcakes, cakes, donuts and a few other things. Two ladies were inside and the one greeted me asking if I was looking for anything in particular. After looking in the cases and asking what the first two cupcakes were, I decided I could get one chocolate with delicious chocolate icing and one peanut butter chocolate. When in doubt- choose the cupcakes! Both were very delicious and slightly different. The peanut butter icing was EPIC. Such a sweet, nutty flavor but not overkill sweetness. The cupcake was tasty but not as moist as I expected. It had a delicious chocolate icing filling in it which made a fun surprise when cutting inside. The chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing was more moist (perfect moisture actually) and the icing on top was fun with the chocolate shavings! I think I loved the peanut butter icing most with the moisture of the chocolate cupcake from the chocolate icing one. I'd love to note that the lady asked me if I had been before and I told her no, it was my first time. She told me these cupcakes are on her - which I couldn't believe and SO appreciated this sweet gesture. Overall, I'd be interested in getting their items again. I also plan to ask what the staple is next time I go, as I feel like all places have one thing they are dying to rave about. This seems like a small business worth supporting!

Cons- it's a little far out of the way for me to travel to go weekly. And the interaction with the staff has always been awkward, not sure what to make of that. Summary- even with my listed cons above, it's worth the trip out of Pittsburgh or anywhere to enjoy a really good sweet treat.

Tucked in a walkway not far from the Voodoo Lounge and Knead's Cafe, you've just gotta stop by and try their goodies! Instead of the usual heavy, dense frosting, it had a soft yet still wonderfully creamy without being too heavy. I later learned they use a mousse-style icing which complemented the moist chocolate cake and the thin outer layers of chocolate beautifully. The flavor was also rich without being too sweet. Altogether, it was exceptional: balanced, flavorful, and clearly made with care. If you get the chance, their chocolate cake is absolutely worth trying.

There is a huge variety of options and they have seasonal specialties. They also have a cafe that servers sandwiches, coffees and other specialty drinks. I can't say I didn't enjoy the items I've gotten here, I just don't think that they are "the best around" or really any better than bakeries where I don't have to stand in long lines to get items. One example I'll give is the paczki. I love paczki and good ones can be hard to find. Theirs are huge and they have a wide variety of flavors. But honestly, I'd rather get smaller ones from a different local bakery where I feel I'm supporting small and they have more flavor than just "sweet". This place just feels so assembly line/factory to me.

Signature flavors of baklava include Traditional, Biscoff Cookie Butter, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Apricot Ginger, Amaretto, and Chocolate Hazelnut. Occasionally some special flavors, such as Quadruple Berry for July 4th, are available. Prices vary based on flavor and quantity, but one dozen costs about $23-25. Customers may either order baklava through the bakery's website or purchase baklava as a walk-in in the store. Nationwide shipping is available. I shopped at Sweet Tillies in-person one time. I met the owner Amy "Tillie" herself, and she kindly sold me one dozen assorted baklava, two of each signature flavor. Before I give you my rating for each flavor, please note that I learned from Greek ladies years ago how to make traditional baklava, and I have much experience with making it at a professional quality in very large quantities. In general, I thought that Sweet Tillies's phyllo was nicely crispy and layered with butter, walnuts, pecans, and other ingredients, and I appreciated the unique flavors. Traditional - 5 stars - This baklava tasted very sweet and nutty and had a little "kick" from cinnamon. Biscoff Cookie Butter - 5 stars - This flavor had a moderate Biscoff flavor and still tasted like baklava. Chocolate Peanut Butter - 5 stars - The flavor of peanut butter was strong, so the baklava almost did not taste like baklava, but I did enjoy it. Apricot Ginger - 4.5 stars - The apricot tasted subtler to me, and the ginger tasted stronger. Amaretto - 5 stars - This baklava had an amaretto flavor that took my tastebuds a moment to detect but tasted very good. Chocolate Hazelnut - 5 stars - This flavor might be my favorite. It looked like the chocolate-peanut-butter flavor but tasted totally different. The chocolate was subtle to me, and the hazelnut made the baklava taste a bit richer than the traditional flavor.
