After trying this for the first time I almost have to restrain myself from stopping by there everyday. It's SO good. My favorite items were the Oatmeal cookie and blueberry frosted donut. The cookie was soft with just a touch of frosting which compliments it well. And the donut frosting wasn't your typical lathered on frosting, it sort of hardened and gave a little crunch to the donut. What I didn't get pictures of were the chocolate chip cookie, snickerdoodle and the frosted sprinkle donut. All of which I'd get again, I just ate too fast to get photos of. You walk in and it feels like you're in someone's kitchen. Small and cozy area to order from with just the right amount of options to choose from. Maybe about a dozen cookies and pastries. Staff was super helpful in helping pick out what to get and they gave a pamphlet on the way out to see all of the pies, cookies, pastries, etc they make. Really feels like these cookies were made from your mother's kitchen, with the same passion and joy. read more

Absolutely the most amazing sweet treats you are ever going to find. Especially when they just come out of the oven. I have never Gotten a bad treat from them ever. We have nothing but great things to say about this place and the people that keep it running! The baked goods are some of the best I have ever had. Of course they are known for their chocolate chip cookies but every cookie they sell is top notch. We had an assortment of them at our wedding and people still rave about them. The donuts are also the best around, but only available Mondays and Fridays! They are always trying new flavors and we are never disappointed. The owner and staff are all so friendly and genuinely seem happy to be there and serve the community. They only take but there is an ATM so there's nothing stopping you from trying this place! read more

I'm not from Pittsburgh so I wanted to try Nancy B's when I visited the area. Their chocolate chip cookie is really a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. The owner, who took our order, mentioned the presence of peanut butter in the cookie. I thought the chocolate chip cookie was okay. Although I like peanut butter, I prefer that it not be in my chocolate chip cookie. Not sure if the cookie had enough brown sugar, if any. read more

Near perfect Yelp and Google reviews had me venturing out this hole-in-the-wall type Pittsburgh area institution known for best chocolate chip cookies. Nancy B's Bakery is located in a very old building in an area of Homestead that you probably wouldn't be inclined to stop in unless you knew the area. The shop itself is cash only and very no frills with a counter/display case and not much room to move around in. We were only going to go with 2-3 cookies, but wound up going with half a dozen consisting of mostly their signature chocolate chip cookies and the oatmeal raisin for some variety. We were going to get some macaroons since they were listed on their website, but they didn't have any the day I went, and it was just mostly cookies on offer. Perhaps I was expecting much better considering the high ratings, but the cookies just didn't hit the mark with me. The chocolate chip cookie was large in size with plenty of chocolate chips (maybe a few too many), but had a soft interior that made it fall apart while eating and was neither overly crunchy, nor chewy like soft cookies. We both had the same comments after sampling them that they weren't bad, but just nothing above average in the taste, flavor, or texture department. Honestly, Doubletree hotels give out a better tasting chocolate chip cookie to their guests. No regrets in trying out Nancy B's, but they won't have me as a repeat customer. read more

Food was nothing to rave about the chocolate chip cookies were smaller than what I had before the taste wasn't good as what they were. The peanut butter cookies were not good at all. Service was service he asked what I wanted I told him then got aggressive about apple dumplings that I wanted ,but it's considered a special order item. It's a small cookie shop that sells cookies that's in the case and only takes cash or checks. read more

I stopped in to Nancy B's Bakery today to get a famous chocolate chip cookie. It was such a good decision and I timed it just right. The chocolate chip cookies were warm out of the oven! I had to buy two (one for now and one for later). The employee was so kind and we had a great conversation also. Just what I needed this afternoon. From what I've been told, this is a Pittsburgh institution. They have early hours so it has been hard for me to stop. I finally go a chance and I was not disappointed. They carry a number of different cookies, but make sure you get their chocolate chip. That is what they are known for. If you are lucky, they will pull them right off the cooling rack for you. They put a tiny bit of peanut butter in their chocolate chip cookies and because of that they taste amazing. They are also huge! read more

Recently saw a post on social media about Nancy B's chocolate chip cookies and knew it was a must. They close at 4:30 so it's been a feat to get off work and get there in time before they close, but I made it yesterday! They have a wide variety of cookie options, but I just went for the chocolate chip since that is what was raved about on Instagram and what they are most known for. I got there 5 minutes before closing and was hoping for a deal since I'm sure they make their cookies fresh daily, but no such luck. Bought a half dozen and took them home for an after dinner dessert. We didn't try them 'as is' but warmed them for 30 seconds in the microwave and they were SO good! Lots of chocolate chips, warm and gooey, with a glass of milk. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Pro tip: they are cash only, so he prepared. As always the best cookies ever especially if you microwave them for 10-15 seconds, however I bought 2 choc chip the other day and the clerk charged me $4, I gave him a $5 bill and open the register and pulled out a $1 for change and simply put it in his pocket. I didn't say keep it, plus there was a tip jar on the counter. Not sure if I'll ever stop back. read more

CASH ONLY! Best chocolate chips cookies I have ever had. Bought a dozen combined with other assorted cookies. The others were mid but the chocolate chip were by far above and beyond. They were thick, gooey, flavorful and heaven in my mouth. Highly recommend. I'll be back when in Pittsburgh again. Do yourself a favor and stop in. read more

This cookie is special. Super small spot and it looks like they do a TON of special and large orders. Must have been 20-30 packages waiting for pick up. Grabbed a peanut butter cookie. It was fine. Nothing extraordinary. Definitely good but nothing I needed to sit down in order to eat. The chocolate chip cookie is LOADED with chips, it's warm. It's large. It's epic. Your rarely see me say this but Nancy be a is a out of . Do you hear me? Not just the story but the location and intoxicating baking cookie smell when you walk in! You can literally always get a fresh out the oven Hand size (my hands are huge btw), warm gooey crunchy chocolate chip cookies she know for! I'm checking off Pittsburgh foods from my bucket list, and the chocolate chip cookies from Nancy B's were next up! The bakery itself is easy to miss if you're not looking for it. It is small and with limited offerings, but it's definitely not to be missed! Those cookies are massive, gooey, crispy on the outside, and oh so tasty!! I had read that they have peanut butter in the dough which you get a very subtle flavor of it at the and- I might not have noticed if I hadn't read about that prior. I'd put them head to head with even gourmet cookies from some of the NYC bakeries like Levain! Definitely worth a try when I'm Pittsburgh! read more

It wasn't until an overhyped and way overpriced cookie chain moved into the East Suburbs that somebody mentioned Nancy B's cookies. WOW!!!! Undoubtedly, THE BEST, cookies I've ever eaten. This actually was not our first choice or even where we were headed next, but it is where we ended up. Inside, the shop has a large front area filled with pastries on display, followed by plenty of seating toward the back. As we started placing our order, it was clear that our cashier had a disability. A quick look at their website explains their mission well, stating that they provide comprehensive training and career pathways for adults with disabilities, demonstrating that when workplaces are designed with accessibility and support in mind, everyone can contribute their unique talents and thrive. The cashier helping us was super nice, although definitely a bit chatty. After looking through the baked goods, my kids chose a red velvet cake pop and a snowflake sugar cookie. For my coffee this morning, I went with a hot gingerbread latte, while my wife chose an iced version. My coffee was good and clearly tasted like gingerbread, with plenty of sweetness and warming spices coming through. I did not get much coffee flavor, but that was not unexpected given how strong the gingerbread flavor was. My wife also enjoyed her iced gingerbread latte. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I enjoyed our coffees, my twins enjoyed their baked goods, and I really appreciate their mission of employing adults with disabilities.

The only part with purple color was the tip of the shell. I can see grease soaked the wax paper on the bottom of the cake. Not sure how long it sat there on the shelf. So, I went back next morning to see if they have fresher ones on the shelves. I saw the one I left the night before. Ahhh... moon cakes must be shelf stable. Not! Each baked goods should have date time stamps. I felt cheated. Pink Box Bakery is the only Chinese bakery in Squirrel Hill. I think I'll go to Korean or French Bakery on my next visit.
