A slice of 2025 Mancini's toast
Mary H.

Mancini's bread has changed. It's not even close to the Mancini's bread from last year (2024). It doesn't look the same, it doesn't taste the same, and it doesn't toast the same. It is as thin as a focaccia bread, and tastes worse than TownTalk. I used to be able to put a slice of Jimmy & Nino's salami on a slice of bread without it hanging over, but now, I have to fold the salami in half. Whenever we come home, we buy at least a dozen loaves to hold us over until our next visit. Do we have to now stop at Breadworks for our Pittsburgh bread??

Nothing better than when the bread is fresh out of their oven! I got 4 loaves and when I got back to work half a loaf was gone - sooo good! They also sell hot pepperoni rolls, pizza dough so you can make pizza at home, sausage buns, rolls and lots of other goodies. Added bonus - cheaper than buying at grocery store :-)

love my hometown bread !

I cannot resist the pepperoni bread and the rolls. Takes me back to my childhood and family trips to Mancini's for bread.

Great bread. Best in the burg! The rolls are also fabulous, a must for hot sausage sandwiches.

Since my best friends birthday is tomorrow, I wanted to get her something thoughtful. I was planning of getting a cake elsewhere, but decided to purchase a dessert here and give it a try. I did not want to purchase a whole cake for just us two, so I opted for two cakes in a cup. I choose the Hershey's chocolate and strawberry shortcake. If they taste as delicious as they smell, I know they will be fantastic. The young lady who served me was very kind. I had a couple questions, and she answered every single one, which helped me make my decision. I can not wait to try their breakfast pastries soon!

Cute new addition to Coraopolis. I don't remember what the bread was called but the orange on top…read morewas a sugar glaze and the bread itself had a sweetness to it reminding me of Easter bread. The pineapple pastry was tasty and flakey. As I'm getting ready to pay, I notice they had tamales in the behind the counter. Perfect timing I thought since it was lunch time. I go home unwrap the foil and open up the chicken tamale. Oh my. Inside there was one slice of potato, a tiny piece of carrot and this round bone that was breaking apart with a little bit of chicken. I did take a bite and sadly it was gross. I can't even imagine if I had bitten into the bones. Please stick to baking pastries only. If it wasn't for the tamale you would have received a five star review.

It was creamy without being heavy, tasted very authentic, and the noodles were homemade. You could tell a lot of care went into it. We also had the pizza bread, which was perfect to share and really well done. They do simple things with really good ingredients and with care from what I gathered I ordered the Dubai chocolate martini and it was really good too. There were a lot of good drink options so I'd imagine there's something for everyone My family had the onion and mushroom soup and loved it as well. Everything that came out was just consistently great. They change the menu often, which I really appreciate, and everything tastes fresh and high quality. You can tell they use good ingredients and actually care about execution. I would absolutely go back and recommend it without hesitation.

We tried to make a reservation but nothing was available. My friend insisted on putting our name on a standby list and the restaurant was extremely excited to call us with a cancellation, which they said rarely happens. I was excited to introduce my friends to this spot! Our party was not the easiest as we have a few dietary restrictions, like one GF person and one vegetarian. We wanted a few of the starters and noticed that getting the antipasto might be the most cost-efficient way. My friend asked if we might have all the meat on one plate and the veggies on another to be considerate of the vegetarian (me) and they nicely accommodated that request. The GF friend was excited to order a Dubai chocolate martini as she thought she would be getting these flavors without the dough she can't have, but it came around the rim and sprinkled in the drink and she had to send it back, which they also quickly accommodated. They also had several mocktails on the menu, really nice options made with NA spirits. I ordered one of these. I usually get the gnocchi here but on this visit they had a pasta special with corn that was like a taste of just-ended summer and I went with that. It was delicious and my friends enjoyed their meals as well. There is a dessert bar next door but service on this night was taking an extremely long time so we didn't get into any desserts. Service on this particular visit was not quite what I've been used to on previous visits overall, and one of my friends mentioned it afterward to the GM who was very accountable and responsive. He had also stopped by to personally check on us during our meal, and it's nice to get a sense that a place genuinely cares about your customer experience. I will continue to come back.

Cut out the middleman. Go straight to the source. Pros:…read moreSure, Mediterra sells their bread by the loading docks of their bakery. Sure, they are located in a business park. But when you can buy bread that literally just came out of the oven, or croissants, pastries, muffins, and scones that were just made an hour ago, you've got to come here. They will even slice your bread if you ask, which is service that goes above and beyond. Cons: You will not be blown away by the ambiance. The bread is sold literally in the entrance way of the business. You may be parking next to an 18-wheelers loading or unloading. But who cares, their bread is awesome! Summary: Mediterra has quickly become my favorite bakery on the west side of Pittsburgh.

Products include deli loaves (e.g., multigrain, challah, pumpernickel, rye, and sourdough), sandwich buns (e.g., white, wheat, pretzel, and potato), table loaves (e.g., ciabatta, Italian, chili cheddar, chocolate cherry, focaccia, and pecan cranberry), dinner rolls (e.g., challah, French, onion poppy, and rosemary), and baguettes (e.g., sourdough, multigrain, and sesame seminola). I saw on their website that they also have a cakehouse that bakes custom cakes with various icings, fillings, and toppings. For my first purchase, I ordered five breads from Mediterra Bakehouse. All of the breads were a very large size and were fresh, and they cost about several dollars each. Here are my reviews for them: Farm deli loaf - 3 stars - The physical shape and design of this bread was gorgeous, but the flavor was a little plain. Challah hamburger buns - 4 stars - These hamburger buns tasted good. They were very large, so I had extra bread around my hamburger patties. Mt. Athos fire bread - 3 stars - This wheat bread was a generous size, but it tasted slightly plain. Hawaiian dinner rolls - 5 stars - These dinner rolls were moist and had a slightly sweet flavor. Parmesan pepper loaf - 2 stars - This bread contained way too much pepper and too little parmesan. It was so peppery that I threw away most of it. UPDATE on December 26, 2021: A few weeks ago, I rated this business as 3 stars, but I am now increasing my rating to 4 stars after I bought three more of Mediterra's breads. Here are my reviews for the breads: Stollen - 5 stars - This bread contained nuts and dried/candied fruits, and it was covered in powdered sugar. My husband and I really enjoyed the taste of this bread. Chocolate cherry - 4 stars - This bread loaf contained cocoa powder, dark chocolate, and dried cherries. I prefer milk over dark chocolate, but I still enjoyed the flavor of this unique bread. Pecan cranberry - 4.5 stars - This wheat bread contained cranberries and pecans. I really liked the combination of flavors.
