Pancake House is always a solid 5 stars. It was 10 years ago on my first first and it still is today. Always busy, but you are seated quickly and food is out quick too. The staff is old-school, they are friendly, are quick to refill your coffee and always get your order right. Pancakes are huge, syrup is top-notch and they always give you lots of butter. read more

Stopped while passing through on our way northwest from Georgetown. When someone combines chicken fried steak and an omelette into one dish, WINNER! The red velvet pancakes were also a huge win for the home team. Combine this with great service and cool people, breakfast tastes much better. Classic breakfast, yes. We need more of that these days. It doesn't have to be complicated or all fancy. We will definitely be back. read more

We stopped on a long road trip because this was the closest to the main highway for breakfast. The food was similar to an ihop or dennys which I like just fine. The waitress was attentive and food came out quickly. Portions were good. I cannot compliment the waitress enough. The only complaint is that I would highly recommend not using the women's restroom. The hall and women's restroom smell pretty bad, even early in the morning I would guess simply because they want you to put all paper products in the trash vs flushing. Including the TP. When a 4 year old boy complains you know it's a little potent. so just don't go to the bathroom before eating. ‍ read more

This place is WOWZA... I love breakfast, and when I can go out for breakfast in the morning, I'm GOING ALL OUT. This is a Lubbock staple for a reason. My husband has ate here a few times during basketball trips, but the boys and I had not, so we gave it a shot yesterday. Let's talk about what we got: for myself-One blueberry pancake, one sweet potato pancake, one pecan pancake, two eggs over easy, sausage, and hash browns... and did I eat (almost) all of it?? YES... be sure to try alllll the pancakes if you can--they also have Red Velvet and a cinnamon roll one (by the way, ask for the cinnamon sugar pancake syrup as well)... My oldest had: the Western Omelette and a breakfast burrito-- he loved them! My youngest had the Hungry Boy Breakfast (buttermilk pancakes, sausage, eggs, hash browns, and biscuits and gravy)--he put it away, and he's 10! Classic "Blue Plate Diner" that has been around a long time. Lots of regulars. Very clean, well worn, with plenty of memorabilia hanging on the walls. Breakfast all day, and a lunch special. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive. I was seated within 5 minutes (at 1pm). I ordered, and the food came out quickly. Pay up front when done. I will be back to this establishment. The Pancake House is truley a Lubbock landmark, built in 1961 on 8th and Q, blew away in the tornado Lubbock had in 1970, was rebuilt on 6th Street and Ave Q. The bar or counter was the only thing left standing and it is the original counter that sits there today.

If we had been advised it only applied to certain desserts we would have ordered one on that list. We won't be back, it is similar to a Texas Roadhouse but with lower quality of meats.

I decided to eat a good breakfast while getting some major admin work done and went to Chicken Run. I ordered the Hiker's Benedict since I was specifically craving Eggs Benedict. But being neurosparkly has its challenges that show up in the weirdest ways. While I have a very open palate and can be a total foodie, I can get very weirded out by textures. So when my meal came with all of the toppings chopped up into small cubes, I simply couldn't enjoy it. The waitress asked about it, and I told her it's my own weirdness and not to worry about it. They still took the meal off even though I fully planned to pay. I don't share this so that people will abuse their kindness, but so that people will know that this is a business with heart. At a time when I'm feeling like especially sensitive about being too much, this little thing meant so much to me. I will absolutely return here. Thank you, Chicken Run - Lubbock. Red Zone agreed to provide the space for free as long as we ordered food. Which we happily agreed. When we got there and explained who we were, they showed us to a space that was not closed off and there was a great deal of ambient noise as well as that space was not able to accommodate our group without negatively impacted our business meeting nor the other customers in the cafe. When we explained to the 3 waitresses that we were promised the larger and more secluded room, their response was "well, we gave it to another group. If you don't like it, you can leave..." My wife and I were stunned. Never have we been so disrespected by someone in a customer service position. Needless to say, we won't be back. And my wife was a loyal customer for decades! Not only did you lose a 20 person table that would have provided a LOT of revenue and tips, we will ABSOLUTELY make sure everyone we know, hears about how awful Red Zone Cafe treats customers and groups. I highly encourage people to stay FAR away from this business. They are not even remotely customer friendly. You need to do better! Have the day you deserve!
