The food is always awesome. The service is excellent and my wife and I really enjoy are evening when we dine at West Table.

We had dinner last night at The West Table, and it was truly a 10 out of 10 experience. We started with a couple of cocktails and the goat cheese croquettes. The croquettes were excellent, and the berry sauce added a bright, tangy complement that really elevated the dish. For our entrees, we had the teriyaki ribeye with flavorful mushroom fried rice, as well as the swordfish, served with perfectly executed risotto and roasted vegetables. I like my ribeye cooked rare, but with the fat properly rendered, so I ordered it rare+, and it was executed perfectly. The swordfish was equally impressive, beautifully cooked and paired wonderfully with the risotto and vegetables. Our server, Saidie, was outstanding and made an already great meal even more enjoyable. The service was warm, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. I think a quality dinner is worth the price tag. When you have someone you want to spoil, it makes that price tag even easier. I was back in Lubbock visiting my girlfriend after she had come to see me in Austin the last few times, and we were planning our weekend. I had previously taken her to The West Table to celebrate her graduation, and since we loved it, we knew we had to go back. Last time we went was an amazing experience. We had their arancini as our shared appetizer. She had their Roasted Beet Salad and the Grilled Rack of Lamb, while I had their Caesar and their Cast Iron Seared Duck Breast, which was amazing. We also enjoyed their specialty drinks. This time we arrived for our 7:00 reservation and were greeted and sat immediately. We both ordered a drink to start the night. I started with the Hibi-Jibi, a hibiscus and gin drink, while she had the Peach Ring Margarita. West Table is a farm-to-table scratch kitchen concept, so it's very important that you order all your food from appetizer to main course up front to give them time to craft it at the right pace. The West Table is at the floor level of the luxurious Pioneer Condos. It sits right across from their sister location, The Brewery LBK, and even serves their current brews on location. However, opting for their brews and not their cocktails is a mistake in my opinion because their specialty cocktails are truly one of a kind. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It feels like a ballroom and all the tables are well spaced out. In the back is the open kitchen where you can see all the chefs putting in hard work and mastering each meal. All around, there is great energy. We started with their Roasted Bone Marrow. I was worried about the idea of eating bone marrow since that was something I had never had before, but my girlfriend assured me it would be great. The bones were filled with an onion jam and lemon caper vinaigrette that were placed inside the bone. You could spread the jam and vinaigrette on their grilled bread, which was fantastic as well. It was purposely charred and really added to the jam's flavor profile. We then split their Caesar Salad, and it was a needed divider between our appetizer and entree. Their salad is a good portion for one person, and it was still satisfying being split for two. It was the perfect amount of salad. We got our next drinks ordered to go alongside our main entree. My girlfriend ordered their Fig Old Fashioned, while I got the "C" Monster, a celery-infused vodka drink with a name that sounds so stupid saying out loud that I almost changed my drink after saying it. Can I get the C Monster? WHAT A FOOL. The drink was really solid. The celery flavor was super noticeable, but in a good way. It balanced with the vodka quite nicely. For our main entrees, my girlfriend got their Salmon over Angel Hair pasta, and I got their Pork Chop over mashed potatoes and asparagus. The noodles with the salmon were strong with a very heavy Cajun kick, which complemented the crispy salmon piece, but my pork chop was the star of the show. They recommended it medium, so I got it medium, and it was delightful. Portions of the pork chop were nice and fatty, while others were lean and tender. I was a big fan of its flavor, and the sauce and mashed potatoes really added to it. Perfectly fluffy mashed potatoes. We closed the night with no dessert, but dessert drinks. My girlfriend got The Cold Fashioned (a mix between a smoked old fashioned and coffee liqueur), and I got the Buenas Noches, which mixes coffee liqueur, chocolate liqueur, and orange liqueur. Of all the "nice" restaurants in town, West Table stands alone. It has a price tag but still feels fair. Everything we had was top notch, and I still think they've made the best duck I've ever had. Their waitstaff is attentive and amazing and really sells the experience. At the end of the night, she was happy, I was happy, and West Table proved itself to be the LeBron of Lubbock restaurants. Absolutely killer burger. Two hand chopped, not ground, beef patties, American cheese, perfect garlic aïoli sauce and a great bun. Awesome atmosphere in 100-year-old building. Local brewery. The chef, Cameron West, and his beautiful wife, Rachel, own this wonderful place. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Cameron West is a branch of Lubbock royalty, the Dirk West Family. I made reservations for our wedding anniversary and made a special request for our dessert. Being our first visit, we weren't sure what to expect. Let me tell you, we weren't sure what to expect . WOW, we were blown away. Our servers were FANTASTIC! The food...absolutely the best chicken ever, the steak was perfect!! Jeremy made a point to come and check on us and when it was time for dessert, he delivered it himself and made something special for us. It was a sugar free mango mousse with fresh mango. I was in town for a work event and stayed at the Pioneer Pocket Hotel (also a great little spot!) Had considered going off property for a bite, but had been traveling all day and decided to take the easy option and just eat at The West Table downstairs. I will say, if you are interested in going, a reservation is a must. It fills up quickly. (and I was only a party of one) The ambiance was great, and very upscale. My server (ask for her - Stokes) was absolutely fantastic. She was attentive, friendly and VERY knowledgeable about the menu and bar. I decided on the Cast Iron Seared Duck Breast with Charred Corn Succotash-Andouille Sausage-Thyme and White Wine Demi. At $29, it's not cheap, but based on the quality and the portion sizes, I found the price to be more than fair. The meal was excellent, and I would absolutely order it again. Sadly very disappointing experience. We ordered the shrimp appetizer which was made with Worcestershire sauce and the flavors were very off. We also ordered a wedge salad, the roasted chicken, and the cast iron duck. Our 2 entrees took a reallyyyyy long time to come out after the salad. Service was pretty slow. The wedge salad was good, but we were sadly disappointed with our other 2 dishes. Everything was soooo salty. We ended up barely touching the duck plate. This was not a cheap meal and sadly we hardly enjoyed any of it. They also delivered the bill with a $4.39 "non-cash adjusted fee" (without knowing if we were even paying cash or not?) on a bill that's $120. The quail appetizer was good, quail itself was overcooked but the rest of the dish was great. Then we got the pork chop with fried rice (which does not and all taste like any other fried rice you've had, not my thing but maybe it's yours) and the duck with noodles. Both meats were great! My wife claimed to have tasted the best drink of her life here: the Italian Spritz with Italicus Liquor, Prosecco, & Olive ganish. Pretty tasty indeed. Foodwise, we were both impressed from start to finish. We are 95% vegan, and this made the 5% carnivore in us both scream loudly. The Bulgogi Beef Lettuce Wraps app was crazy flavorful- the best flavored Korean beef I've ever had. Lemongrass and garlic gave it a nice pop. Ask for more lettuce wraps and chew slowly to make it last. The Crying Tiger Bistro Steak was amazingly tender and had the perfect amount of mint and cucumber garnish and rice to make it an epic entrée. The Char Sui Glazed Double Bone-In Pork Chop with Noodles entrée was a very close second to the Bistro Steak. Probably the best pork dish I've eaten in many years. It had a lightly sweet glaze to it which paired nicely with the the noodles and ginger. The Chocolate Cherry Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream was a near perfect finish to our meal. I wonder if the restaurant strategy here is to make you wait for well over an hour (it was an early dinner and not crowded, and I watched the entire first half of a nba playoff game) so that the food seems so much better than it actually is. And look, it was ok (at best) but I've had waaaaay better food in Lubbock without losing an hour of my life in the process. We ordered the goat cheese croquettes (delicious), wedge salad and green curry soup, pork chop and duck. Everything was so delicious.
