The staff was excellent, and I want to give a massive shoutout to Mollie, who did her best to juggle multiple tables, including a rowdy table of ten, while also providing attentive, friendly service to her other smaller tables. She's a pro. I'm not sure they know what they want to be. Upscale dining? Sports bar? Neighborhood eatery? Lots of TVs on sporting events, but also very nice silverware and plating. Not a criticism, just a weird amalgamation of vibes. Food was super hit-or-miss. Queso was spot-on, while the accompanying salsa was akin to unsalted marinara, like a flat, unseasoned tomato sauce...in fact, we asked if the kitchen had perhaps given us the wrong item. The chicken picatta was heavily breaded like chicken fried steak, and the chicken was oddly tough, but the sauce was bright, creamy, and delicious. The beef stroganoff was unseasoned and tough (a theme here), with a small portion of overcooked pasta, and there were exactly 4 bites of beef per plate (we ordered two of the stroganoff, much to our disappointment) and not nearly enough sauce. The fusion salmon was probably the highlight here. The cocktails were acceptable, except for their signature Manhattan which was bitter, like a chewed-up aspirin had been shaken into the drink. This is a decent enough place if you're in the area and out of better ideas, but it's nothing spectacular. I will give major props to the server, Mollie, and her manager for doing a phenomenal job resolving a minor issue with the order quickly, politely, and effectively. The atmosphere was fair with good music and humorous decor in the bathroom. The lights weren't for me, but others may like the statement. Where The Reserve was lacking was the food. The pepperoni pizza was pretty good, but again there are better options around town. It did taste like it had been prepared in a genuine brick oven. The tortellini was bland. The queso was good enough, but nothing to get excited about. The salsa was downright terrible. The chips were actually phenomenal. The margarita made no attempt to cover up the strong taste of tequila. The Chilton tasted like club soda and not much else. Lastly, some of the surprise fees made me feel like I was booking air travel or paying a wireless bill rather than getting a nice meal. The final charge was a few dollars more than what was shown on the ticket. I assumed this was probably due to a service charge for paying with a card, although I didn't see it with a quick glance at the receipt. In all fairness, I'm sure this was disclosed somewhere and I overlooked it. I have come to accept this as the way of the world now. Also, when we ordered the chips and queso, we were asked if we wanted salsa with it. We accepted the salsa with the assumption that it was complimentary. Granted, since we were asked, I should have assumed that there was a charge for it. The charge was reasonable, although wasted because the salsa was so terrible. I did receive approximately a 5% discount for the order mix-up, and I actually ended up with a free pizza as well. The service and attentiveness were truly exemplary. I would give this place a second chance if I were in the area, but I certainly will not go out of my way for it. read more

Our experience was 3 star, but the restaurant is better than this I assume. Food was good but not amazing. I'd give it a 3.5. The restaurant is beautiful and well decorated, I imagine as the owners saw it come together it was a cool process. Very well put together. Our server was friendly but likely new (I hope). Long waits for plates, table wasn't cleared, finally after walking by several times I waved him to us to order a dessert. He delivered the dessert but didn't clear the entree plates which was weird. We spent an extra 30 minutes here just waiting for service after we finished our entrees. Highlights were the street corn fritters and churros, unfortunately they were out of ice cream which would have really brought more to the churros. Always a fun place to go! My family has met here many times in the past year and a half. We have enjoyed it every time! The food is great! My husband and brothers in law have enjoyed the chicken fried bacon. When they do not have it as an appetizer, it can usually be found on a burger. Yesterday, my sister and I had the blistered shishito peppers and jalapeno poppers - yum! Their entrees are always good! We have always had excellent and friendly service! Was in Lubbock for the weekend , moving my daughter into her new apartment. Since we were spending daddy daughter time I wanted to take her to eat. We always go somewhere new when we come to visit her. This place is really nice on the inside and out. The hostess was very welcoming and sat us immediately. The waiter greeted us with cold waters and took our drink orders. Lemonade for her and Woodford Rye neat for me. The waiter gave us recommendations for food. She had the chicken tacos (lots of shredded cheese), I had two appetizers Nan w/ steak and prey bites with spicy cheese. Her tacos were great on flavor and a great portion of actual chicken. They could lighten up on the shredded cheeses. It also comes with cilantro lime rice and refried beans. The rice had a little too much lime flavor for her but the beans were good. The Nan was delicious with excellent flavor and steak very tender, the pretzel bites were lightly salted and very light and the cheese dip was well seasoned and tasty. We also had a slice of chocolate cream pie. That's was very light and not too sweet. It was very good (not like my aunts though) . Overall we had a great experience. The waiter was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed. I would definitely return. read more

This is typically our go to place on the weekends. Today they had a special Valentine's menu and it did not meet expectations. The server was not aware of the items on the special menu, as when we asked questions, he was unsure. For our appetizer, we ordered the coconut shrimp and it came out completely raw. Overall, entrees (filet and stuffed chicken), desserts (cheesecake and red velvet pie) and drinks were good. The food was delicious - absolutely fantastic fries, the burger was cooked perfectly. The martini was awesome too, will be having it again for sure. Our waitress, Bailey, was super friendly and nice. A couple people in my party had to request a different entree because what they chose wasn't what they expected, and the staff was very understanding and accommodating. Traveling through Lubbock, a place I lived years ago. A lot of my old favorite spots were not holding up on Yelp so decided to try something new; this was it. I went on a Thursday night, and there was a pretty busy crowd. Even so, I'd expect that someone would be at the door to help seat the line that had been forming before I arrived hoping to sit at an open table (of which there were plenty). After an uncomfortably long wait a hostess arrived and sat the first group. After seating the group, she disappeared again for at least another five minutes. I get you're busy, but just sayin': someone needs to man the door. Service was fair, they were out of the first two beer selections I asked for, and after asking for some pepper with my steak salad (should be on the table at this point), I waited another 5 to 7 minutes before the server came by to ask if everything was OK, at which point I asked for pepper again. What keeps this at a 4-star (more like 3.5) is the food was really good. Pickle brined chicken wings were outstanding, and the Black & Blue Steak Tip salad was excellent. I'd go back if I was in town, but would hope the service was improved. read more
