Basically a sports bar disguised as an Italian restaurant. The "restaurant" side clearly takes a back seat to the bar. We came with a party of nine and it took over three hours to get all of our food and drinks -- absolutely crazy. They were severely understaffed, with maybe two servers handling the entire dining area. Our server was running nonstop and did her best, but management clearly hasn't staffed properly. If you're just coming to hang out and watch a game with a drink, fine. But if you're expecting a true Italian dining experience, this is not the place. read more

Went to the Candle Bar for dinner last eve. This is an upscale Italian restaurant attached to a shop in a new section of Lubbock. The ambience is nice but a bit noisy. Most table and chairs are high top with some lower sofa style seating. The wine selection is on the expensive side per glass (14.00 average) and the focaccia bread was very good. I ordered the Penne Pasta Ala vodka and the dish was very good. The problem here was the portion size. The portion approximated about a cup in serving size and is significantly smaller than other comparable restaurants in Lubbock with a similar price. I would have left hungry if I had not families dishes. read more

The food is good but what was called burrata on the menu was a square block of mozzarella, which was fine, but not burrata. The charcuterie board was very good, as was the salad I got with salmon. I do recommend the place overall but you might want to ask if some of the more specialized menu items are actually what is listed before ordering. All the tables are higher than normal but if you need a regular table there is one on the patio. read more

My wife and I stopped by Sunday for the first time. The place looks beautiful and is extremely clean. A lot of thought has been put into this place. The menu was brunch. My wife ordered the avocado toast and I had the eggs Benedict. I tried my wife's avocado toast and it was amazing and I do not even like avocados. That garlic cheese spread is heaven on toast. The eggs Benedict was great. They know how to do it right. Service was spot on. It was pricey, we had two cokes, eggs Benedict, and avocado toast + tip for $65. I'm willing to pay it if the service and food is great, in this case it was and I look forward to checking out the full menu. It's nice to have a place like this in Lubbock. read more

We were driving through Lubbock and decided to give this place a try given the mostly good reviews here. We were greatly disappointed. I could have used the $50 I spent on dinner here for more groceries given the Boursin, grapes, and Cesar salad I got. The menus given to us in the restaurant did not match what was shown online. I understand they are still trying tonight "figure out the menu". Yet the food served did not even match the descriptions of the food on the menu. I don't know when grapes became "fruit preserves". The service was fine and fast. The space is open and clean. I just would not go back to spend money on food that seemed to come straight from a grocery store instead of being freshly made. read more

Very slow service, food wasn't very good. Atmosphere was nice. Server lied to us three times about the status of our order.

I got off work late one night several weeks back and came here looking for some food. Unfortunately however, the bartender explained that their kitchen closed earlier in the evening. Despite this, she went out of her way to make me a little snack plate with some odds and ends so I could eat something. Service was GREAT. We then came back for dinner the following weekend to try out the menu and it was AWESOME. They had sports on TV and festive holiday music on the speakers. Our server was again, super helpful and informative about their Italian menu. The food was stunning, the cocktails were expensive but great, and the atmosphere was fantastic. This place is pretty cool. The food was decent, the drinks are good. It was a little pricey for 3 drinks and 2 appetizers at $80.
