The interior decor is outstanding, but that is the only good thing about this place. We ordered the Burrata appetizer with focaccia, burrata and balsamic, grapes and Marcona almonds. The focaccia was very nice and airy, as it should be. The burrata was much to be desired. It was served in a bowl and served very cold. The burrata was not room temp, as it should be to showcase its consistency and softness. The bowl made it very hard to get to the burrata and the presentation was lacking because it was in a deep bowl. It was also served with no spoon, so we had to knife it. Just like the knife in my Italian heart. Good thing was the almonds and grapes were good. Next, the Arancini apertivo. Another flop. These things were as small as ping pong balls. When you cut them, they looked like raw ground beef instead of seeing the beautiful, fluffy risotto, as it should have been. You can tell these are not fresh or house-made because there is absolutely no risotto on the menu. Arancinis are made to use leftover risotto, so these are very fake. The crispy provolone topping tasted like sand. Third, soup du jour. We asked for the chicken gnocchi. It was pretty ok, but didn't have any chicken or gnocchi! So, basically a creamed spinach soup. We let the server know and she said the morning prep staff didnt put either ingredient in the soup. So, why serve it and why call it chicken gnocchi when it has neither? I assume the day's customer base wasn't the wiser. Fortunately for me, I owned an Italian restaurant and know better. Thankfully, the server removed the item from our bill. Finally, the pasta course. Immediately, it is evident that it is store bought, dehydrated, and nutrient-deficient pasta. We ordered the cacio e pepe and hardly any pepper was on it. It is in the name, "pepe", but like the soup, it wasn't complete. We got a pepper mill, and no pepper in it. The pasta was mediocre, had no taste, and desperately needed pasta water to bind the sauce with the dish. Again, a serious sign that it is not real Italian food that is made well and correctly. Our server was nice, but only visited the table every 20-30 minutes, which made the meal long, tedious, and laborious. We were there almost 2.5 hours. Ugh We were so ready to leave. Kind of a wasted evening. If you're looking for a beautiful place to dine, this is it. If you want a beautifully, well-executed Italian meal, this is absolutely not it. Stopped at Candle Bar for Sunday brunch. We were greeted promptly and sat quickly. The restaurant looks nice and is clean. The staff were very nice. Our drinks came out after some wait. Unfortunately the food took considerably time to come out. Out waitress was nice and let us know a couple times that the kitchen was backed up - but after the second time she mentioned it to us, we knew it would be a while. Luckily we weren't in a hurry. When the food finally came out - it was just okay. The potatoes were almost cold. The biscuits were good but the poached eggs were over done. The gravy was watery and lacked flavor. It was only after speaking to the manager that things changed. She was very apologetic and offered a free round of drinks for our table of 10. This was the saving grace from a 1 star. read more

Basically a sports bar disguised as an Italian restaurant. The "restaurant" side clearly takes a back seat to the bar. We came with a party of nine and it took over three hours to get all of our food and drinks -- absolutely crazy. They were severely understaffed, with maybe two servers handling the entire dining area. Our server was running nonstop and did her best, but management clearly hasn't staffed properly. If you're just coming to hang out and watch a game with a drink, fine. But if you're expecting a true Italian dining experience, this is not the place. read more

Went to the Candle Bar for dinner last eve. This is an upscale Italian restaurant attached to a shop in a new section of Lubbock. The ambience is nice but a bit noisy. Most table and chairs are high top with some lower sofa style seating. The wine selection is on the expensive side per glass (14.00 average) and the focaccia bread was very good. I ordered the Penne Pasta Ala vodka and the dish was very good. The problem here was the portion size. The portion approximated about a cup in serving size and is significantly smaller than other comparable restaurants in Lubbock with a similar price. The food is good but what was called burrata on the menu was a square block of mozzarella, which was fine, but not burrata. The charcuterie board was very good, as was the salad I got with salmon. I do recommend the place overall but you might want to ask if some of the more specialized menu items are actually what is listed before ordering. All the tables are higher than normal but if you need a regular table there is one on the patio. read more

My wife and I stopped by Sunday for the first time. The place looks beautiful and is extremely clean. A lot of thought has been put into this place. The menu was brunch. My wife ordered the avocado toast and I had the eggs Benedict. I tried my wife's avocado toast and it was amazing and I do not even like avocados. That garlic cheese spread is heaven on toast. The eggs Benedict was great. They know how to do it right. Service was spot on. It was pricey, we had two cokes, eggs Benedict, and avocado toast + tip for $65. I'm willing to pay it if the service and food is great, in this case it was and I look forward to checking out the full menu. It's nice to have a place like this in Lubbock. read more

We were driving through Lubbock and decided to give this place a try given the mostly good reviews here. We were greatly disappointed. I could have used the $50 I spent on dinner here for more groceries given the Boursin, grapes, and Cesar salad I got. The menus given to us in the restaurant did not match what was shown online. I understand they are still trying tonight "figure out the menu". Yet the food served did not even match the descriptions of the food on the menu. I don't know when grapes became "fruit preserves". The service was fine and fast. The space is open and clean. I just would not go back to spend money on food that seemed to come straight from a grocery store instead of being freshly made. read more

Amazing food I loved the chefs special of ravioli. I personally had them put a very nice cheese and crème sauce on top. They had great service the waiter would come and fill my water right when it got low I will always remember to come here. I got off work late one night several weeks back and came here looking for some food. Unfortunately however, the bartender explained that their kitchen closed earlier in the evening. Despite this, she went out of her way to make me a little snack plate with some odds and ends so I could eat something. Service was GREAT. We then came back for dinner the following weekend to try out the menu and it was AWESOME. They had sports on TV and festive holiday music on the speakers.
