Before my daughter's appointment nearby, we decided on Flippers Tavern for lunch. This place is quite different than many places in Lubbock, TX. When we walked in on May 19, 2026, the place was not too busy at around noon. Right away I noticed low lighting. Cool alternative, rock, and old R&B music playing in the background. A full bar. Pinball machines for tables. Lots of nostalgia in this place! Restroom was mostly clean. The food was okay. I wish there was a bit more flavor to everything. My daughter agreed. + The Damned Dog ($11) "All beef frank, house beef chili, cheddar, diced onions, and jalapeno crispies." This was good but the frank and chili needed more flavor. I opted for a side of house-made vegan potato salad (additional $1.50) instead of potato chips which really good. + The Sourpuss ($12) "Bratwurst, sauerkraut, pickle slice, crushed salt & vinegar chips, and queso fresco." My daughter enjoyed this with ketchup and mustard added and a side of smoked gouda mac. That mac was very tasty. We also noticed how crisp and spicy our Sprite and Dr. Peppers were. Loved that. I'd definitely go back again for a drink and maybe a sandwich next time. Ample lot parking. read more

We went mid week later at night place was pretty empty. Service was nice, polite and helpful. Ambiance was not for me but it has a vibe. Music was loud alternative. Place was unique and cool to visit once but not to come back again. Food came out quick all of our Philly's were extremely salty I could not finish it. Potatoes salad is good, a little too much mustard for my taste. Spicy Mac was really good. I'm glad I tried it once. Is a cool place but not good to ever return to eat. read more

Texas surprises me often when it comes to good food but to find a restaurant/bar that serves vegan cuisine blew me away. The server who also was the bartender was friendly and very helpful! This is a cool little place. The service was great!! Jacob, our server was terrific and recommended a great Mexican lager on tap. The food is okay, it's your typical bar fare, and they have a very interesting chef salad which my wife loved. It has Sausage in it which seemed odd, but it worked. Stopped here while traveling because we wanted something different and boy howdy did we find it. Pin ball games everywhere including the dining tables. Classic vinyl LPs on the wall and decent restrooms were very appreciated. I got the Damned Dog which turned out to be the best chili cheese dog I've ever had. Wasn't too expensive either. Visited during a Texas Tech football weekend and chose this bar because it was close to our hotel. Big mistake. We sat for 15 minutes without a single greeting, menu, or acknowledgment from the staff. No service, no eye contact--just completely ignored. The staff seemed to careless after giving them an opportunity to at least acknowledge two people waiting for drinks and food. Honestly, you're better off waiting in a long line a block away than wasting your time here. We ended up walking out and going somewhere else. Save yourself the frustration and skip this place entirely. Terrible Pinball machines in back.... Two bathrooms unisex. read more

Wow! What an amazing place! We chose to go here after our time at the ren fair down the street, and it was such a good choice! The place is so cute, a vintage eclectic theme, lots of pinball and records. All of their food looks amazing, we got the philly cheesesteak and the filthy wizard hot dog. And a pretzel. The mac in cheese is so good too! Our waitress was so kind and conversational, she was quick and so was the food and it was all very reasonably priced! Can't wait to come back! read more

We were passing through town and I had read a really good review on Flippers. Lo and behold we passed right by. I made my husband flip a U and it was the best decision for our pit stop on our travels. It's a very cool little place. It is well decorated and really unique. The outdoor patio was great and surprisingly cool for an August afternoon. We decided to try three of the dogs on the menu.The Damned Dog (left), The Supersonic Dog (center), and The Sourpuss Dog. All of them were very unique and full of flavor. They use a huge all beef hot dog which had a great flavor and the bun is amazing. It's hard to describe the bun, but it really makes the hot dog. It was very fresh and soft but with a nice light toast making it flaky. The chili on the Damned dog had a great flavor but did not overwhelm the dog. It was a great spin on a classic chili dog. The Supersonic used a garlic pepper jack sausage topped with a bacon jam, whipped cream, Sriracha, grilled onions, and fresh jalapeños. It was so very full of flavor and had a good bite to it with the addition of fresh jalapeños. The Sourpuss was a bratwurst with a pickle spear, sautéed sauerkraut, crushed vinegar chips, and queso fresco. It was very good also with just a very different flavor profile that really works. Our sides were the house made potato salad, the Gouda Mac and Cheese with crispy jalapeños on top, and Boulder Salt and Malt Vinegar chips. That Gouda Mac and Cheese was definitely the stand out of the sides. It had a great flavor and texture. Very nice and creamy and the crispy jalapeños were a great addition. Flippers had a very inventive cocktail and mocktail menu. The Saturday special Chilton had the perfect balance of lemon and was nice and cold. My husband tried a Beet-le Juice which was a blanco tequila, with a Bergamont liqueur, hibiscus syrup, beet juice, and lime. It was great. All the flavors together made a very tasty cocktail. We both would order that again. The mocktail menu was really extensive and looked really good. They also had a great beer selection. The ladies there were slammed but they were spot on with their service on a busy Saturday afternoon. They were attentive to each table and worked at an amazing speed considering I don't think that many people were working. Food and drinks came out in a reasonable amount of time. We will definitely be adding Flipper's Tavern to our rotation of pit stops in Lubbock. I can't wait to try the sandwiches and burger next. Don't sleep on Flipper's they definitely are on top of their game. read more

Such a fun place!!! Yummy hotdogs! We did a build your own. Relish, sauerkraut. & mustard with a beef dog. The bun was toasted & yummy. The French Connection was also yummy! I would have never put these ingredients together but it worked!! Strawberries, arugula, onion jam & brie! I love pretzels & these did not disappoint! Crispy on the outside & soft in the middle! This is the place to be in Lubbock! Laid back, casual place where all the locals seem to hang out. Delicious vegan/vegetarian food options as well as an array of adult beverages. The games all around, newer ones next to antique (on the wall) ones. It was fun. Bring your quarters. They have a machine to exchange quarters. Stopped by with my family during our short stay in Lubbock a few weekends ago, and I still think about this place. Definitely a must-try. One reason that got us over there was their dog-friendly patio. They brought out a water bowl for us right away. I ordered the Supersonic signature dog and it was the best hot dog I've ever had in my life. These days my appetite isn't what it used to be and I tend to opt for smaller portions, but I finished the entire thing too easy. We also shared the soft pretzel appetizer and loved it with the mustard. Our server was sweet and the pineapple coconut cider that was recommended to me was especially delicious. No misses here. Lastly, the ambience is super cool. We played a few rounds of pinball after our meal which was a nice way to end the night. 10/10 recommend. read more

We've been twice now and we were served by IB and Saebryn and they both had great recommendations (appetizers and meals) for us to try. We will come again to try more food/drink options.
