The overall experience was disappointing and needs improvement in both food quality and basic food-handling practices. The mac and cheese was watery, lacked flavor, and tasted like a processed cheese sauce rather than homemade. The greens and cornbread were overly salty with a strong vinegar taste. The spaghetti was also too salty, and the sauce was overpowering. The meatloaf was overcooked, very dark, and the sauce had an unpleasant, almost mineral-like taste. I was unsure whether the meat was ground turkey, but the overall flavor and texture were not appealing. The pork chops were the only item prepared well, they were properly fried and acceptable. Service was mixed. The owner's daughter was professional and polite, which I appreciated. However, the other young staff member displayed poor food-handling practices. She was handling food without gloves, touching her hair, nails, and jewelry, and then returning to food service. Her nails were excessively long, and the amount of jewelry worn was inappropriate for food preparation. Additionally, her attitude was unprofessional and uncomfortable. The ambiance could also use attention, as the space did not feel as clean as it should. Overall, aside from the pork chops, the food quality was below expectations. With adjustments to seasoning, preparation methods, and stricter adherence to proper hygiene standards, the experience could be significantly improved. read more

We walked in to Docs with the intention of bringing a party of 12 for a birthday. We asked someone if they would let us move two tables together. When they started to help, the owner or glorified manager (I assume), started yelling from across the restaurant that we could not do that. She also saw that we had a cake and yelled that we could not bring desserts in. I actually understand the concept of not bringing desserts in to some establishments, but for a buffet style kitchen, it doesn't make sense. We easily would have spent $200 in this place. Do NOT go here. I will say that the frontline staff were pleasant and willing to be helpful. I hope they find a better employer to work for. UPDATE: I found on another review platform that people had the same type of interaction with this "owner". She's unprofessional and arrogant. Maybe this is the type of customer base she wants to attract as well-- might as well just open up a club. read more

While I always aim to support Black-owned businesses, this establishment needs to improve in terms of seasoning. Unfortunately, everything I ordered on July 25, 2024, was far too salty, making it difficult to enjoy the food. I believe that if the amount of salt was reduced, the food could be much more enjoyable and flavorful. I encourage the business to consider adjusting their seasoning to enhance the dining experience for customers, as the potential for great food is clearly there. With a few changes, this could be a fantastic place to dine. read more
