Blue Sky Texas was a decent burger place. There are two locations as of April 25, 2026 in Lubbock, TX. This one is on the north side of town close to Texas Tech University. The parking lot was packed. I had to park kind of near the smelly dumpster and an unsightly view of a trashy lake or pond. So when my daughters and I walked in, we were not greeted. We snaked around the long horizontal pole meant to form a line. The chick at the register did not to be in that position. She was not nice. Did not listen. Was not courteous. It took about 25 minutes for our food to be ready. Your receipt will show the same number that should pop up on the number readers either above the meal counter or in the dining room near a TV. Here's what we ordered: Green chile cheeseburger ($11.49) Cheeseburger mayo only ($10.99) Bacon cheeseburger with ketchup added ($12.99) Large fries ($4.99) Small fried jalapenos ($5.79) 2 regular fountain drinks (2 @ $2.89) The patties were fairly thick. My daughter received several pieces of bacon on her burger. She was happy about that. The green chile was definitely on the very mild side. I loved it, but the juices saturated my burger when I dumped the cup on there. Soggy burgers are not fun. My bad. I didn't count that against them. The fries were really good. The jalapenos had a kick! The Coca Cola was super flat. My daughter let me try it when I was shocked by her admission about it. Lol. The dining rooms can get a bit loud. I could not hear my kids half of the time. Felt like an old timer. But it could have been that we sat between the food counter where you pick up your food tray and the soda fountains. Congested! It was the only table available at the time! Still, the entire staff seemed a bit moody. I did not appreciate that. The restrooms were decently cleaned. I'm sitting at 3.5 but I've had blue star before so maybe this was just an off day. I got the regular hamburger, green chile burger and the green chile cheese fries. Everything was very wet and the green chile came on the side with a lot of juice. The fries were diabolical because the cheese just hardened on top but the green chile was very soggy and wet. They do have a happy hour M-F from 2-5 I believe for a hamburger combo for 10 bucks which is great. read more

One of the best burgers I have ever had. I had the double bacon cheeseburger with green Chiles. The bun was soft, fresh and didn't fall apart. The patties were perfectly seasoned and the veg in the burger was crisp and fresh. My daughter and wife had single sized burgers that perfectly matched their appetites. Ever hear "you get what you pay for"? I will admit that Blue Sky is a tad pricy, but it is worth it. Their quality and taste are on point. This visit I enjoyed their take on a Philly Cheesesteak. I said yes to the grilled onions and grilled jalapenos, and also added extra cheese. Before you order, please know this is not a true philly. It is however VERY tasty, the meat is thinly sliced and juicy. Spoiler alert, they serve it on a toasted hamburger bun. I also spilt a small order of fried jalapeno slices. We have eaten at the Blue Sky on 98th street for years without problem. My husband has celiac disease and it's really severe. He has to eat gluten free. I have a bad intolerance for dairy, so he orders a GF bun and I order a hamburger without cheese. We both take a bite of our orders and realize they put the GF bun on mine and not his. I talked to the staff and they said, oh yeah, we realized yours had cheese on it so we tried to scrape it off (eww) and then for some reason we changed the buns too. My husband has been badly sick for a week because of it. No apologies, management didn't seem to care at all. read more

The cashier was very nice he greeted us with a huge smile and a friendly attitude and he let us know about the $8.99 special (a great value) that include a huge delicious burger, fries or tater tots and a drink. The place is real clean and inviting with booths or tables along with televisions and so much to look at from murals to neon lights... A must if you are looking for a really good burger...The menu has great options for everyone... I'm not sure how to describe this place as other than pure Texas and as one that offers everything you want in a burger. I ordered the burger with jalapeños and fries. The burger came out huge and hot, juicy and putting out an aroma that was idyllic. The buns were toasted with a buttery flavor, and the tender beef was grilled to a standard of excellence that shocked me. All of the condiments complemented one another perfectly, and the jalapeños were on the side. It is good for people to be able to dress those to their heat level; I opted to use all of mine. Service was great. No complaints there! The onion rings are house made and very delicious, although they were a little cold. One of the best burgers in town. Place is pretty clean too. It's all counter service but the staff is really friendly.

I try to stop in here every time I am in Lubbock. You walk in, look at the huge menu on the wall then place your order before you sit. Grab your self-serve drinks and find a table. There are a lot of places to sit and T.V's in most places to catch a game. When you order is ready they will call your number to pick up at the counter. They get it all out pretty quickly and it hot off the grill. The Green Chili Cheeseburger is by far my favorite and I have had the Chili Cheeseburger as well. The meat has a really good flavor, the buns are not your standard bun, these are more like homemade buns that are grilled and buttered. The fresh-cut fries are very crisp and they have additional seasoning on the table to add a little more kick if you want. Overall this is a great burger joint with many non-burger options on the menu. It is pretty clean, not too loud and the booths are huge so you can spread out a little bit. I have yet to need a "to go" box! That should say it all right there! read more
