First bite, and you can tell that the burger is made well and that it's really nicely seasoned. They have a toppings and sauces bar so you can customize your sandwich which is a really nice addition. Yummy! Me and my boyfriend ordered 2 burgers and the fried pickles, the burgers were delicious and came out in a timely manner. The atmosphere inside is choose your own seating, there was a birthday party and its very family friendly. I've been coming to Buns off and on for years and always leave happy and full. A locals favorite that is almost always full of people. At times, the line to order can move a little slow but the food usually comes out pretty quick and knowing that they make everything AFTER I order helps me not to mind having to wait 3-4 minutes to order. In my opinion the best thing on the menu is the steak fingers. Here's a little secret, order them with cheese fries to make the meal even better! The steak fingers, like most everything, comes with a pretty good portion of fries and there is an appetizer order of cheese fries available. But, if you want to get the best meal ask them to make the fries that come with your meal cheese fries. Trust me! The burgers here are also very good and I appreciate the fresh condiment bar that allows me to make the burger six inches taller with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, tomatoes, pickles, and more tomatoes. Wide variety of tea flavors and push-top bottles to pump a little extra flavor into your drink. They have the French Fry thing down good. They Come out hot, with crispy outside and soft center which does taste mostly like a tater. My wife likes the onion rings. They've figured how to make those, too. Friend ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich. Looked authentic but I couldn't convince him to break me off a piece. The fix'ns bar is clean and well stocked. Two unusual choices: a real dill pickle thinly sliced, cut length wise. Also, a super tasty, finely minced pico that was well balanced between flavor and heat. First - I hadn't been here since 1997 when I last lived in Lubbock. The burgers and cheese fries are still pretty good and I would come here more often if I hadn't found a hair grilled into the meat of my burger on 01/25/2021. I've visited Buns for carry out a few times since COVID-19 hit. They have a "salad bar" type set up where you can choose lettuce, tomatoes, etc for your burger. You are now given your own plastic tongs to grab what you need and then you place the used tongs in a container. I think this is a suitable way to prevent cross contamination - if only they made sure their employees were practicing infection control measures, too, I'd give them more stars. On at least 2 occasions, the cashier either didn't have a mask on or was wearing it below her chin. None of those handling food are wearing hair nets or gloves. I was halfway through my burger this last time when I got to the cooked-in hair, which spoiled the whole meal. I will think twice before eating here again. Hopefully they'll start implementing infection control measures. read more

It had been a few years since we have visited this place so we decided to come give it a try. It kind of seems like a retirement home in here. I suppose old people need to eat too though. There is some lady talking very loudly at the counter about how she wanted some illegal immigrant from El Salvador to go to prison. Stranger conversations have been overheard before. The inside is packed together for maximum capacity which is good because it's a full house today and we would be getting the food to go otherwise. First thing you'll notice is the place hasn't really changed much since I was in high school. Same booths, same inside set up. I ordered a large burger on a white bun with cheese. Tator tots and a large cheese fries. Big mistake. As much as I can eat in a sitting, I couldn't finish the fries. The portions were much bigger than I was expecting even though the large is only an 8oz patty. The burger was filling and actually really dang good. I'm not much for burgers that aren't grilled but this place has a good thing going for them. I can't believe I don't remember, from my last outing here, how good the food is. It is a definite winner with me. The price was good. 3 of us ate combo meals with a large cheese fries and it was 23$ and change total. The service wasn't exceptional or anything memorable. People were busy working and they were friendly. Overall that's all that matters to me. I will be back soon for another excellent burger. This place destroys Caprock Cafe with taste, service, and overall experience. (Caprock was wrongfully voted "best burger in Lubbock"). Bring your family and enjoy! read more

This is a staple in my family due to how close it is to our house. They have a large seating area and a toppings bar. That means when you order you burger they can't mess it up! I usually get the kids burger with bacon and it is enough to fill me up. Their ranch is to die for. I drench my fries in it and sometimes even out a little on my burger! Their bacon is woven! Making every bite have the perfect amount! I also like how you can see into the kitchen. It doesn't hurt that every time an order is ready they announce, "Chelsea, your buns are up". Spent the night at the Clarion down the street and needed to grab some dinner. Went to this place and ordered the large burger and a salad. The burger came with an option for a wheat Hun which was much appreciated and it was tasty, too. The burger meat was just right and the salad was actually a good size which made me very happy. The condiment bar for the hamburgers was awesome and the pickles sliced longways - whatever they were were some of the best pickles I have had in a long, long time.
