Before leaving Lubbock, we came here for one last meal. This was my first time here. She had been here a couple of times. The outside and inside general vibe is like that "millenial burger spot". Nothing necessarily wrong with that, but just so you know if you're looking for something different. I personally got the Kevin Bacon burger. It has bacon, blue cheese, and the regular veggie toppings that you'd come to expect on a burger. I thought this burger was good. The blue cheese wasn't overwhelming and went well with the meatiness of the patty which I felt was decent sized. Now the one aspect about Twisted Root that really surpised me... the pickles. They have a gah damn pickle bar! In these giant barrels! I don't even like pickles on their own, but the variety of options was enticing. They have dill, bread & butter, ranch, sweet & spicy, and atomic. It was really fun just getting to try the different options with the burger. They're all made in-house. My personal favorite was the sweet & spicy. Though I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Pickle lover's paradise. All in all, I'm really glad I came here. I'm fortunate to have had wonderful, welcoming company take me here. It was a good way to finish the Lubbock trip. I wish I could come back, but those cards may not be in my future anymore. Lubbock isn't so bad after all. I really am going to miss it. Sorry, got side-tracked. Twisted Root is definitely worth visiting!

Surprisingly good burgers. I have to say, we were coming here after a visit to Alamo and it was really good. I've had a twisted root in San Angelo before, and there's something magical about their meat quality. This is way higher quality than your average burger. Lots of cool exotic meats too, and jam combos, but we just opted for the traditional kind. The different types of pickles in a free self serve area was also really creative and helped reduce the overall grease. If you're in the 806 and want to try a new, cool atmosphere with super solid burgers, give it a try!

An impressive menu with relatively reasonable food prices. I've never had camel before, but bison is pretty good (and lean). I've never seen a pickle bar before, so I had to try the spicy variety. Not too shabby! Ordering is done at the counter, where they give you a famous person/people coaster for your order instead of calling it your name. There was no table service, but a server did come around to check on us. The ambiance was laid back and casual. A horseshoe bar is located in the middle of the restaurant. Apparently they have live music Thur-Sat, maybe even Sunday. I'm pretty sure this place would be bumping if it has a better location. Definitely worth the trip if you've never been before!

Visited here in Spring of 24'. I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman of helped me. He was incredible. He walked me through the menu, helped me out with everything. He got me a beer as well, all while helping the others in the restaurant. He was a rockstar. Now to the food - this burger was really good. I didn't realize there was mushrooms, so that was my fault but they were no issue to take off and didn't take away from the burger. The toppings were fantastic and there was a heaping pile of fried onions. So great. To top it off they had a pickle bar?! Count me in. Fried carrots were new to me, and were alright. The friend green beans were a hit though! Definitely recommend this place for a good burger!

The burger was juicy and well seasoned. My server was very helpful and patient when I confessed it was my first visit. The place was not crowded while I was there, but looked like it might be a really fun place to spend a Friday evening with friends. My only complaint? The hipster soft drinks are not a valid substitute for the normal Coke/Pepsi offerings.

My sister loved this placed on the way to the airport yesterday and told us to go today on our way to airport. Plus it had the approval by Guy Fieri at Triple D so I knew it would be good. Loved the pickle bar. Tried the dill, sweet butter and Ranch. All were tasty. Really enjoyed my cheeseburger. You can the buns were homemade. We even had a nice chat with the manager, Dave. Very welcoming!!! Can't wait to come back to Texas and try another burger. Love the cool decor. Overall , great vibe!!!

Burgers were delicious. They have GF buns and the fries are cooked in a separate fryer so also GF.

There was no greeting, just immediate attitude. When we shared we had a group of 10 or so, we were quickly told they couldn't accommodate us due to being short staffed. Mind you, we arrived as soon as they opened and there were more than enough tables available. Given that this was one of THE busiest weekends in Lubbock (George Strait weekend), being understaffed felt like a poor planning issue on the part of management, not something that should be taken out on customers. We offered to split into smaller tables, but that was also refused without a clear or competent/consistent explanation. Any attempt to ask questions or understand the situation was met with interruptions, dismissive responses and being talked over with responses/excuses that were rude and didn't make sense . The bartender repeatedly talked over us, would not allow us to finish speaking, and was openly disrespectful, including toward my parents. We then sat for about 15 minutes without any acknowledgment or service. There was also an uncomfortable situation where I was loudly yelled at in an aggressive manner from across the room to take a cupcake outside while I was tending to my 3-year-old. While I understand policies regarding outside food, the way it was handled; yelling across the restaurant and then repeating it in a further rude, disrespectful and aggressive manner, directly at my table with my child present, was not only humiliating, but felt excessive and unprofessional to say the least. To add to this, we had visited a few weeks prior for a family event, and this same staff member was just as rude and unpleasant/unprofessional then as well, which makes it clear this was not a one-time situation. Shortly after, we were told they would not serve us and were asked to leave. Thankfully, We ended up going to another local restaurant that was MORE than welcoming, organized, and fully capable of accommodating us just by walking in, which made the contrast of the situation even more noticeable. Overall, the issue was not the crowd or wait time, it was the lack of professionalism, poor communication skills on their part, combativeness, disrespectfulness and clear failure to manage staffing on a major weekend. There are plenty of other local options that provide a far better experience; ambience and quality of food included, I would strongly recommend choosing one of them instead.
