I normally get the all-American burger - I've tried the standard meat patty as well as the Wagyu and recently tried the buffalo burger. Buffalo was incredibly delicious -cooked a perfect medium well. a nice char on the edges, delectably, moist in the middle, again incredibly delicious I had never been served a satisfactorily hot, fresh order of fries until my last visit a few days ago and I asked for them to drop an order of fresh french fries, a request, which they honored Normally they sit in a pan by the window and they grab a handful of steel fries before they serve it to you. Before leaving Lubbock, we came here for one last meal. This was my first time here. She had been here a couple of times. The outside and inside general vibe is like that "millenial burger spot". Nothing necessarily wrong with that, but just so you know if you're looking for something different. I personally got the Kevin Bacon burger. It has bacon, blue cheese, and the regular veggie toppings that you'd come to expect on a burger. I thought this burger was good. The blue cheese wasn't overwhelming and went well with the meatiness of the patty which I felt was decent sized. Now the one aspect about Twisted Root that really surpised me... the pickles. They have a gah damn pickle bar! In these giant barrels! I don't even like pickles on their own, but the variety of options was enticing. They have dill, bread & butter, ranch, sweet & spicy, and atomic. It was really fun just getting to try the different options with the burger. They're all made in-house. My personal favorite was the sweet & spicy. Though I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Pickle lover's paradise. All in all, I'm really glad I came here. I'm fortunate to have had wonderful, welcoming company take me here. It was a good way to finish the Lubbock trip. I wish I could come back, but those cards may not be in my future anymore. Surprisingly good burgers. I have to say, we were coming here after a visit to Alamo and it was really good. I've had a twisted root in San Angelo before, and there's something magical about their meat quality. This is way higher quality than your average burger. Lots of cool exotic meats too, and jam combos, but we just opted for the traditional kind. The different types of pickles in a free self serve area was also really creative and helped reduce the overall grease. Would like to start off by saying we usually love this restaurant and location in Lubbock because we live close by and service during the day is always great! However this is the second time me and my family has gone in to eat in the evening and it has been a shit show. The bartender has pulled us out of line to seat us and take our order at the table which is nice instead of having to wait in a long line to order. Both times she has reeked of alcohol and acted like she was under the influence of something slurring and stumbling around. I usually wouldn't mind or say anything to get anyone in trouble but after last night I am fed up with the very poor and incompetent service we receive. We went in to eat before our movie and waited over 30 minutes just for them to tell us they had no knowledge of our food order or name card we were given being placed. The manager was super apologetic and nice trying to find and figure out what happened with our order but had no luck and my husband was pissed and we had to leave without our kids eating dinner before our movie. This is not what we know or expected out of this place and do not look forward to going back if this is the service and treatment we get with drunk staff not taking care of us or able to do their jobs properly allowed to be working under the influence like that. read more

An impressive menu with relatively reasonable food prices. I've never had camel before, but bison is pretty good (and lean). I've never seen a pickle bar before, so I had to try the spicy variety. Not too shabby! Ordering is done at the counter, where they give you a famous person/people coaster for your order instead of calling it your name. There was no table service, but a server did come around to check on us. The ambiance was laid back and casual. A horseshoe bar is located in the middle of the restaurant. Visited here in Spring of 24'. I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman of helped me. He was incredible. He walked me through the menu, helped me out with everything. He got me a beer as well, all while helping the others in the restaurant. He was a rockstar. Now to the food - this burger was really good. I didn't realize there was mushrooms, so that was my fault but they were no issue to take off and didn't take away from the burger. The toppings were fantastic and there was a heaping pile of fried onions. So great. To top it off they had a pickle bar?! Count me in. Fried carrots were new to me, and were alright. I just didn't have a good experience here. I wanted to like it because it has a lot of potential, but it just fell short. To start it all off when I placed my order I asked if I could have my shake made when I was done with my food. That didn't happen. They made it before my food came out. Then on top of that it just wasn't good. Kind of crazy but it reminded me of Cool Whip. The shake just didn't taste like ice cream. It was not good. I've never done this before but I actually took it back and asked for my money back. It was $6 and I thought I could get a better shake at Braum's for half the price. Then on to the food. I got The Millionaire burger ($16.50) and the Treat-yo-self Twisted Cheese Fries ($8). The fries tasted like they had been sitting for a bit. The cheese was stuck on the fries like how it get when you make nachos and it starts to cool. So it was just warm. It could have been so much better if they had been made fresh where you pull a fry and you create this long cheese string. Instead you pick up a fry and you get a whole section of fries with it. The burger was ok. Again it just didn't seem that fresh. Picture wise it looks good but it could have been better. Lastly the place just wasn't that clean. You could see crumbs and stuff on the floor. The table had their kind of sticky film on it. Tables that weren't cleared. Granted I guess it was 8pm and they were already getting in shut down mode so they weren't going to be cleaning up just yet. Just wasn't their day. read more

My experience today at this restaurant makes me consider ever coming back to this place. The customer service was horrible, the cashier seemed very rude and acted like she didn't want to be there. Piss poor attitude reflects not only herself, but the company as well. My sister loved this placed on the way to the airport yesterday and told us to go today on our way to airport. Plus it had the approval by Guy Fieri at Triple D so I knew it would be good. Loved the pickle bar. Tried the dill, sweet butter and Ranch. All were tasty. Really enjoyed my cheeseburger. You can the buns were homemade. We even had a nice chat with the manager, Dave. Wow! This was a wonderful surprise! We were just stopping in for the night and decided to check this location out due to being dog friendly. The location definitely delivered. The food was right on point. They also had an amazing pickle bar with different selections. The theme was also a cute touch, not to mention their thoughtful dog water bowl left outside. Very nice since it was pretty hot. At first my only complaint would have been the prices are slightly high and the patio doesn't accommodate seating for different types of people since the chairs and tables are screwed down in a tight position, but be advised there are some loose chairs on the other end of the patio. Spent $56 for 3 people. Burgers were ordered well done; they were pink. Sent them back, still pink and cold in the middle. These were probably patties that were frozen solid when cooked. Outside of Pattie's were a dull gray color. There was zero seasoning used. If you are a burger place charging this kind of money, then do it right. Food was disgusting and overpriced. Not going back. The 806 Burger Tour checked out Twisted Root Burger Company yesterday. We have been there before and, of course, our goal it to check out only local establishments. We try to avoid chains or, at least, major chains. We certainly won't do a review on Whataburger or Freddie's. Two of my favorite fast food burgers. I first found out about Twisted Root when I was I saw an episode of Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives" years ago when they were, a one of, in Dallas. We actually sought them out and had a burger at their place in Dallas. Obviously the publicity didn't hurt them at all and they began spreading across Texas. I really like their Burgers, their fries are something special and I love the atmosphere. Yesterday the garage doors were open and it was a perfect evening on the Llano Estacado. I had, my favorite, The Western Burger, which features Pepperjack cheese, bacon, fried onion strings, and pickled jalapeños. They griddle the burger pattie which features a high quality blend of ground beef. They toasted the bun on the griddle perfectly. The only thing that could make it better is adding Clarence's Grandpa's Secret Recipe Bar B Que Sauce which is on every table. We also enjoyed their Treat-Yo-Self Twisted Cheese Fries which is the perfect combination of fries melted cheddar cheese, bacon, & Jalapeños. Served with a side of Peppercorn Ranch. Obviously, I'm a big fan of Twisted Root and we will go back. read more

We were in a mood for a burger, so we decided to try Twisted Root. We ordered All American Burgers (this restaurant's version of the bacon cheeseburger), I ordered a Wagyu version (it was worth the up-charge). All burgers were cooked to our desired doneness. The shakes were thick and delicious, and the twisted fries you only need one order if you have a party of 2 or 3 (they order is very large). They have a sliced pickle bar, if you enjoy pickles on your burger, the pickles add great depth and flavor to such a dense burger. A side-note, halfway through my meal I remembered I saw this restaurant on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. This restaurant definitely lived up to the reviews from the show. read more
