Very upset by the way I was treated by the staff member outside named Timothy. He was Caucasian blonde hair. I was just asking questions seeing if we could pay to skip the line with it being Halloween. He told me "get out of my line right now". The younger Hispanic guy was very kind and understanding and watched the incident take place. He was trying to explain we could pay to get in but unfortunately the Timothy guy was VERY rude. April 15 1:00AM. One of the female bartenders, a dirty blond- dark haired white female obviously intoxicated not only degraded my girlfriend in the restroom, but physically assaulted her. she then took my friends phone and kept it behind the bar, and another man, a staff member as well, Tall, short brown hair, white-hispanic, bigger build threatened to fight me when i went up to them to de-escalate the situation. as a designated driver, i chose to just leave and let the bouncers know of their intoxication. sad to see this business being run so terribly. not only were we degraded with no previous altercation, but assaulted physically with marks to prove them. A blond tall waitress was so rude and didn't help us. Every time I go here all the bartenders are rude and only help you when they want to. They also up charge you all the time and hope you don't notice. Working as a bartender myself I could never imagine being that rude to customers. read more

Kieth the bouncer was way out of line. He shoved my friend out of the bar when he was trying to close his tab. Then proceeded to slap him when he was outside of the bar trying to sign his receipt. Okay, so this fake blonde bartender on the end was so rude tonight. I was asking a genuine question about the drinks she pour me and my friend and I asked hey is there any vodka in this? Like an actual question I swear I wasn't trying to be offensive in any way and she said: No I just charged 22.46 for drinks with no vodka. 1. The men's bathroom isn't big enough for one person, yet there's 4 places to piss in there. 2. Consistently get charged extra for no reason when the girls that come with get the same drinks for less. 3. Drinks that can make are very limited. I came here fri night and when I came in I felt as if I didn't belong. Got a real uncomfortable vibe the min I walked in. The young blonde behind the counter couldn't have had a bigger attitude problem with me if she tried. I asked about how business might be that night since everyone is coming back from Christmas vacation and the bar just opened up. Instead of getting a better attitude from the young girl she decided it was best to look at me with disgust as If I didn't seem to matter to her like her job is more important then talking to a customer about a few questions. I went there for drinks after dinner, because I was told that the beers were cheap. The Good: That day they had $1 beers. The place was extremely laid back and dive-ey. The crowd was so lively that you could simply sit back and be entertained. The Bad: The place is such a dive bar that it looked like they fished around various garage sales from the 80's to collect their tables, chairs, and bar stools. It got a little too fratty for my taste as college students inundated the bar with their Polo shirts, pastel shorts, and TTU baseball caps. Girls were definitely falling over themselves to take more shots and express cheers at even the slightest provocation. The place looks like it was literally constructed from material stolen from construction waste and like they had no idea what building permits were. I thought the place was going to fall apart when they started playing LMFAO's Shots. Overall: Beer was cheap and the entertainment was free. I could see myself making my way back there when I feel like having a rager and going Algernon 3000. read more

Me and my boyfriend walked up to the bar wanting a drink. We stood there for almost 10 minutes. We were standing right in front of 2 bartenders who were just talking to each other. Contrary to what other people are saying I think this place is great. Yes it looks like a shack and yes it's packed with college students but what do you expect? You're literally right next to campus! What I LOVE: the vibe!! Regardless of if you come with a group or just a few girls you can literally talk to anyone around you and not feel out of place. It's also super chill so you don't have to dress up! They've got great music sometimes and the Dj of here is one will always be down to play whatever you request. read more

Mesquites charged my friend $25 for one beer.... then my friend proceeded to confront the bartender. The bartender was rude for confronting him for a wrong order that was obviously the fault of mesquites. WORST BAR IN LUBBOCK!! They stole money from me on my receipt when I forgot to mark out any tip and when I checked my bank statement they had added money! I called THREE times to let the manager know about this and the slutty dumb girls that work there acted like they don't understand what taking a message was, I still haven't heard back from the manager two weeks later! This isn't a review towards Mesquites, it's towards the bartender CELESTE...I've never felt so victimized in my life. She will either overcharge your card by adding drinks or tip herself 100% and refuse to give you a receipt. For example, I had four drinks and three shots and it totalled out to be $60 and if you do the math, it should've been around $30. I have also found her serving my friends and I drinks with no alcohol. She violates TABC regulations beyond belief. When you go Mesquite's make sure CELESTE isn't your bartender or you'll get finessed. There have been many complaints amongst my friends towards this bartender, so beware. Despite the awful service she's provided, Mesquites has always shown me a good time. read more

Don't threaten me with a good time! Mesquite's was a nice surprise in an otherwise unpleasant trip up to Colorado. The drinks are cold and the pours are stiff (you would be surprised what tipping will get you). Car was backed against Mesquite's building under their "balcony" windows. Came out to my new car covered in beer, limes and mixed drinks. Employees of Mesquites would not admit it was their customers who did this and basically said "sorry, not our problem." They even admitted it happens frequently, they do not park their own vehicles at their own bar. Definitely don't recommend this place, terrible customer service. For those that are unfamiliar with Mesquites, please be advised that this is a bar, not a restaurant. It does serve food, which is pretty good as far as bar food goes, but it is still bar food nonetheless. Mesquites is known as a college bar and is usually filled wall to wall with them. If you are young and want a fun night out on the town, Mesquites is your place! It has a great upstairs patio, cheap drinks (try their pickle shots!) and busy night life. Next to Gas Light, this is by far one of my favorite bars in Lubbock. read more
