When we walked in on May 19, 2026, the place was not too busy at around noon. Right away I noticed low lighting. Cool alternative, rock, and old R&B music playing in the background. A full bar. Pinball machines for tables. Lots of nostalgia in this place! Restroom was mostly clean. The food was okay. I wish there was a bit more flavor to everything. My daughter agreed. + The Damned Dog ($11) "All beef frank, house beef chili, cheddar, diced onions, and jalapeno crispies." This was good but the frank and chili needed more flavor. I opted for a side of house-made vegan potato salad (additional $1.50) instead of potato chips which really good. + The Sourpuss ($12) "Bratwurst, sauerkraut, pickle slice, crushed salt & vinegar chips, and queso fresco." My daughter enjoyed this with ketchup and mustard added and a side of smoked gouda mac. That mac was very tasty. We also noticed how crisp and spicy our Sprite and Dr. Peppers were. Loved that. I'd definitely go back again for a drink and maybe a sandwich next time. Ample lot parking.

I was out having a beautiful night with my girlfriend. Life feels special when I get to spend time…read morewith her. As we were leaving our very special dinner date, we were driving through downtown Lubbock off Broadway when a place we had never seen before passed by the car window. In perfect unison and harmony, she and I said, "What place is that? Narrow Bar?" We had never seen it before. Was it new? Were we just blind all this time? Narrow Bar has been around. We truly have been blind all this time. Through my four years of college and then some, I had never heard of it. Tonight would change that. As I reached Avenue Q, we turned around to investigate. Narrow Bar is attached to the Wells Fargo building with, shockingly, a narrow indoor bar. The outside is what grabbed our attention: an expansive patio filled with a live music trio and young adults casually having a great time. Was this bar one of Lubbock's best-kept secrets? Having had a few drinks already, we agreed on a one-and-done experience to try this place out. We were handed an expansive drink menu listing four categories: classic cocktails, contemporary cocktails, signature cocktails, and mocktails. I immediately eyed one of my favorite cocktails, a Carajillo, while my girlfriend yearned for the IYKYK (a Porn Star Martini). Our server took our order, and it wasn't long before our drinks reached the table. My Carajillo came with one of those big ice cubes (an actual cube), which was awesome, and the drink itself was really well done. Their espresso cold brew gave it a strong coffee profile that wasn't as sharp as other Carajillos I've had, which I think benefited the drink, especially being mixed with the slightly citrusy Licor 43. As for my girlfriend, she was really excited for her martini and adored it, notably because it came with prosecco. The space is really nice on a cool Lubbock night as it faces the street of downtown Lubbock. The band playing was not a cheesy bar band but actually quite good, pulling some deeper tracks out of their hat, including "That Smell" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. The lead vocalist had this Steve Miller vocal inflection going on, so I requested any Steve Miller song, and we got the always enjoyable "Fly Like an Eagle." They had no tip jar sadly, but my hat goes off to you guys. It was a short experience, but a great impression enough to make us know we're coming back the next time I visit her in Lubbock. How can it be that I have not written a review for Narrow Bar yet? I mean 12 of the 20 pictures…read moreare from yours truly, so clearly I like the place. Narrow Bar is on point when it comes to their cocktails. IMHO they have the best Chilton in Lubbock. If you know you know. However where they really shine is with their focus on offering a wide selection of Bourbons and Scotch. They offer the usual suspects, but they also offer several allocations. Did I mentioned Narrow Bar also offers Clase Azul Repesado, Anjeno and Plata (I think that is the other one they have). Their salad is also excellent with or without protein added, however I recommend getting the dressing on the side.

One of the more relaxed college bars in Lubbock. Great to watch a game at on their TVs, but Chimy's to the people around me is known for their chiltons, their margaritas, and their great food from their cheese fries to their hamburgers. I don't know when they ID for the night, but I have never been and not been IDed, so expect it to be 21+ most hours. Like most bars, it can get a little rowdy and loud in the evening so be careful. On a cool summer night, their patio is a great time, but inside is always a cute vibe. Personally, when I go, I get some cheese fries and a Silver King margarita and it's PEAK. The cheese fries are usually served with a side of ranch in a tortilla bowl. I ALWAYS EAT THE BOWL. SUE ME. The staff here can be decently friendly on nights, but they will throw you out immediately if you're being an idiot, and security will flip out if you walk out through the emergency exit. Don't do that. They close up shop around midnight, so it's not a bar that rolls to the end of the night, but still it's worth going to get the night started at the bars, especially because they're one of the best bars with food in Lubbock. Everything about this place was fantastic. The food was absolutely amazing. The burgers were cooked perfectly, the fries were delicious, and they have a great selection of beers to go with it. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the staff. Our waiter, Drew, went above and beyond. He took the time to walk us through the menu, answered all our questions, and kept bringing extra sauces, jalapeños, and anything else we might want without us even having to ask. Another young man named Zo stopped by our table twice just to check in and make sure everything was perfect and to see if there was anything he could do to make our visit even better. That kind of attention and genuine hospitality really made an impression. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming. My mom and I might be a little older than some of the crowd, but we felt completely comfortable and right at home. Great food, great vibe, and outstanding service. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Lubbock!

And flies are buzzing around everywhere. I order and while ordering I say, "Hey what can be done about these flies to keep them away from me and off my food when it arrives". The answer, "that's because it's summer and we leave our door open, we have a salt gun but we can't use it when customers are here." "So... what is done to keep flies under control and away from my food?" I look around and see no deterrents hanging or placed, nothing. I just received a phone emoji worthy white man shrugging face. This place doesn't even have a fly swatter or flip flop from an angry Mom. The Sweet and Spicy burger arrives. It was good enough. Just so that you know FIFA WC soccer was on. Ivory Coast was up on Curaçao 2-0 and Germany was tied up with Ecuador 1-1 in a close and better elimination game. The audio for the bar was for the CIV v CUW. I was interested in the Germany v Ecuador game so I asked, "can we get the audio to the GvE game?" "No, those two ladies (only two other patrons in the bar) are watching the game being played/heard.". "No problem", I say. Meanwhile the women are talking super fast and weren't even taking breathes enough to hear the broadcast nor looking at the TVs. In my head I thought, man I don't write reviews often but this would be an epic one star. But decided chill out, and not. I finish my burger and beer and about with :15 mins left in the match the bartender changes the audio (to GvE) which is met with applause by the women, and an inner smile by me. Ecuador scores almost instantly as they pound on the table and stand on their stools, as if they were on Bourbon Street and things could get very interesting. Hmmm, I think to myself. These damn women are Ecuadorian. So what's with thinking they were Curaçaoian? Or am I to believe they didn't give two about looking at the Curaçao game and suddenly became super fans when the Ecuador game was turned on audio. Honestly. Did he miss the mark that much? Sure did. Anywho, the check arrives at the burger menu priced at $13 comes up as $13.83 and the pints are also like $9.odd amount like $9.81 or something. The total is $33.blah blah. I hand over my card but ask, "what's with the strange pricing? The menu says $8 for each item." "Oh let me check...oh yeah it because the menu lists cash prices and so if you pay cash, you get that price, if not you pay this price." WTH!!! Maybe that's listed on the menu. But a 10% service charge on beer to cover a what 3-4% Visa fee. Man, please be overcharging to buy some fly swatters or hanging stank away bags. So yeah, 1-star. Just skip this place and go sit on a Port-a-potty instead.
