    Fiery Ahi Tuna

On Wednesday evening, we visited Palisades in the Magnolia District on Marina Place, just off Elliott Bay. The restaurant offers sweeping views of downtown Seattle, Elliott Bay, West Seattle, and, on clear days, Mount Rainier. A stones toss from the Marina, you'll find Pier 91 which serves as home port for Carnival Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Cunard, Holland America Line, MSC Cruises, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean and Virgin Voyages. Palisades is spacious, with a bar and lounge area, a visible kitchen, and an active indoor pond and high-end coastal decor. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating and a private dining room for events. A ramp provides accessible access to the restaurants main entrance. But, they really need to work on upgrading their health rating from good to excellent (a rating they've maintained in the past)! My wife and I have visited this restaurant on several occasions; however, this is the second review that I've done since participating with Yelp. This time around we are having drinks in the bar/lounge while waiting for another couple to arrive before dining in the main room. To past the time we ordered a couple Ahi Nachos appetizers and glasses of Sauvignon Blanc and smoked Old Fashion. Our dining partners arrived and we were seated in the main dining space with a nice view of Elliott Bay though it was overcast late afternoon. Our server Brian was great; attentive, welcoming and offering great suggestions! We began dinner ordering the Dungeness Crab + Avocado Roll and Calamari as appetizers, both were delicious. Two in the dinner party ordered the Herb Crusted Slow Roasted Prime Rib (they loved it). My wife ordered the DUNGENESS CRAB + SHRIMP FETTUCCINI which received a thumbs up and I selected the SEAFOOD TRIO which included Dungeness crabcake, salmon, shrimp with Yukon mashed potatoes seasonal vegetable and beurre blanc. My only complaint regarding this dish was the portion size of the salmon fillet (way too small). I did choose to elevate this entree by adding a 5oz lobster tail and additional grilled shrimp. Both were great! Regarding the salmon, I suggest that the kitchen reevaluate the size of the salmon fillet for this dish. As we were celebrating a birthday we ordered a couple desserts (Key Lime Pie, New York Style Cheesecake, and Butterscotch Bread Pudding) to go, and the birthday Red Velvet Cake that was devoured on site!

My husband and I decided to enjoy coffee and desserts at Palisade while enjoying the view of the solar eclipse. Service was exceptional, the live musician added for a nice background. It's hard finding places in the area that have operating hours that can accommodate when we have children and when we're seeking later evening time frames for just us. I will return and highly recommend!

Attended their Wine & Sip event and it was great. They had music, 24 wineries and lit bites. The venue is beautiful and the food and wine were great. We definitely will attend again when they have this event again.

Had a birthday celebration on a Saturday afternoon, the large windows really give beautiful views of the marina. The dim lighting and water fall/pond elevate this older space nicely. We enjoyed exceptional service and our waiter was very patient with our party. After the bread and appetizers, everyone left with to-go boxes but I will say if we only had the entrees we would have cleared the plates easily as the portions were compact. The Caesar salad was flavorless and the entrees came with 3 veggies, we had broccolini and asparagus. The only piping hot dish that came out was the seafood pasta everything else was lightly warm. Overall most of us enjoyed the food and leftovers the next day, the price tag is comparable to nice steakhouses so you really are paying for the views.

One of my favorite dinner spots in Seattle. The crab dip is one of my favorite foods ever and I get it every time I'm here. The view of the water is amazing here and coming here during Christmas time is my favorite when they have all the lights and decor. My most recent trip here was awesome, I went with my family and had the pleasure of having the server Leon. He was such a nice guy and had a great sense of humor that made my family and I laugh. The food was amazing once again and it was a great sunny day.

It's been a few years since I last dined at Palisade. I'll start with the good: the restaurant location is beautiful. It's located right up on the water and a large majority (if not all) of the tables have some sort of water view and the nearby docked yachts. The waitress was very friendly. The interior has a nice water feature though much of the restaurant could use a refresh (i.e., the carpeting, bathroom, etc.) I ordered my steak medium and it came out medium well. Not a super big deal if you exclude the fact that this is a more upscale restaurant with prices that correspond to this. I also noticed that the complimentary butter and bread wasn't a thing here unless you specifically ask. Overall, I just wasn't as impressed as I thought I would have been with such a nice location and view. My wife ordered the Mediterranean Chicken and though tasty, the portion size was small. The mocktails were good (according to her) and my Manhattan was alright. Overall, I appreciate the good service from the waitress (and we tipped accordingly), the food was mediocre, and the entire experience was slightly disappointing. I do appreciate that there was not an automatically applied gratuity (they only do this with parties of 8 or more).

Food - We came for restaurant week, so we both started off with the clam chowder. Good portion and delicious. They gave us bread & butter to start, so I actually dipped some bread into the clam chowder which made it kinda nicer. I had the sirloin. Don't judge but I like my steak well done. I actually asked for med-well because I get embarrassed asking for well done, but it actually came well done. The potatoes were really good, but the asparagus was just ok. For dessert I had the creme brulee. The sugar topping was kind of thick which made the whole dessert really sweet. It was nice that it had fruit on top because that helped cut into the sweetness. I tried a bite of my husband's key lime pie, but I don't really like key lime anyways so it was not for me. Service - Excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. He even mentioned the smoker for the drinks wasn't working well so he could still bring the smokey drink, but it might not live up to expectations. Totally appreciate that! They also boxed up our food for us at the end of the night. Ambiance - upscale. Good for fancy dates and big occasions. Tons of large parties when we went. The location is beautiful! I think you can also rent out the sunroom, which we didn't sit in. The sun was setting while we were there and it was very romantic. The entrance also has a pond with a waterfall.

Palisade is such a beautiful place to celebrate a special occasion. The views are stunning, especially overlooking the water and marina, which makes the whole experience feel really special. The service was great and the staff made the evening feel memorable. I celebrated an anniversary here and it was the perfect setting for it. Between the scenery, the atmosphere, and the attentive service, it made for a really lovely celebration

    Seafood tower. Not good

We came here last night to celebrate my birthday. What a mistake. Both service and food were not good. I made a reservation here which they called to confirm. I put in both the reservation notes and also told them when they called that we needed a high chair for my toddler. When we got to the table there wasn't one and the hostess seemed annoyed when I told her we needed one and said she would see if they had one. Service was insanely slow from the beginning to the end. It took forever to put in our orders and food was slow to arrive. I finally asked after having been there for close to an hour and a half where the kids meals were for the 2 kids in the party and they said would rush them out because they hadn't put for them to come out earlier. The kids were starving at that point. It should be common sense to bring out the food for kids earlier. We got the seafood tower which wasn't good. It was supposed to be for 2 but came with half of a lobster tail, 2 shrimp, some poke, 1 crab leg, and 2 oysters and mussels. For the price, the portion was very small and nothing was remarkable. We also got the yellowfin sushi roll which was fine but didn't have much flavor. I got the Caesar and wasn't a fan. The dressing was watery and I didn't like the peppery dressing they also put on it. The rest of the table got the apple Gorgonzola salad and said the dressing was overly sweet. The entrees came out at the almost 2 hour mark which was ridiculously slow given that the restaurant was maybe half full. The food was fine but lacked flavor. The crab cake we added on wasn't crispy at all and was kind of mushy. Desserts also weren't great. My brother in law ordered an affogato and was served a gravy boat full of espresso and a massive bowl of ice cream, which is not at all how it should come. For a fine dining restaurant, nothing was well executed. He also had ordered a Coke and only got one refill despite being there for almost 3 hours. We had to ask for the refill too and the waitress seemed annoyed for us asking. Definitely stay far away from here. Dinner was around $900 for 4 adults and 2 kids and was absolutely not worth it. What a disappointing birthday.

TDLR: Great place for a celebratory dinner. Not too pricey. $4 / oyster. One complaint is my 10oz ribeye came with about 3 oz of fat. Just personal preference. Service was fast and friendly. Great picturesque, indoor water feature that flows through the front and middle of the restaurant. Food was tasty but I wouldn't say it was anything I haven't tasted before. At a higher end restaurant, a different or exciting taste is something I look forward to, whether that's in the main dishes, appetizers or sides. Didn't get to try dessert because we had a show to catch. Would be interested to see what those taste like !

Service was definitely 5 stars. Our server, Justin, was fabulous. Let me just state that at the top. Made a reservation here for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. When submitting the reservation online, I noted that it was their 50th wedding anniversary and that we'd prefer a table by the window if possible. I later called and verbally confirmed the reservation and reiterated it was their 50th wedding anniversary. One of the reasons I booked here was because of what they supposedly do for anniversaries. Well, that part was a bust. No acknowledgment of their anniversary - their 50th anniversary- at all. Not when we checked in, not anywhere on the table, and our server didn't know until we told him. When we arrived, I noted that we were ok waiting if it meant a table by the window. We were seated shortly after and did score a great table. Our server seemed to think we were a different reservation, commenting "Welcome back!" when it was our first time there. The menu is on the simple side. This a basic fancy seafood and steak restaurant. This isn't where you'll find a new twist on something classic, a fancy foam, etc. The cocktails we had were great. The seafood was definitely fresh. But all of our entrees were overcooked. Since I had the salmon, I didn't mind (I actually like it cooked a little longer). But for a wagyu steak? Not ok - especially when it was ordered medium rare and delivered well done. The server and manager, however, were incredibly nice about it. Everything was wonderfully taken care of - above and beyond. But there was something with the kitchen and/or timing going on. Everything was good and tasty. It was especially great that the teens found their meals enjoyable. My parents were overall happy with the experience too. (But I could tell they were hoping for something a little more on the next level.) The ambiance is nice. A little basic. The big thing is the view. And it's a nice view (but nothing all that amazing). So overall, it's overhyped, but the service is outstanding. And we did have an enjoyable meal and experience.

We ate at Palisade on Thanksgiving, but most of the dishes we ordered are also on their regular menu. The restaurant location is slightly off the beaten path, tucked away near the marina in Magnolia. It is right on the water and the view of West Seattle, Downtown and the marina is great. We even saw an otter and some different sea birds while dining! The restaurant is well decorated and feels slightly upscale to some other seafood restaurants in town, so this is a great option for special occasions or nights where you want something slightly more polished that a casual sit down. The service was great and even on a busy holiday day the staff was attentive and was always on top of refilling our waters or checking in on us. They were also very timely with bringing out the next course soon after we finished the other. For the food, the crab dip is a must get! It was the favorite thing we tried. The lobster bisque was also delicious. I had the seafood trip while my husband had the surf and turf. The seafood trio was okay. The crab cake was good, but the salmon and shrimp were a little underwhelming. The filet my husband had though was delicious and cooked perfectly and both dishes came with delicious mashed potatoes and vegetables. We also added on the Beecher's lobster mac and cheese which was delicious! We will definitely return to Palisade in the future.

Sake Marinated Black Cod - Seattle Restaurant Week
    Carol C.

I love coming here for Seattle Restaurant Week for the good food and value. The 3 course comes with delicious New England Clam Chowder or Caesar Salad, but I always get the chowder, always. For entrees, we got the Prime Rib, Shellfish Linguine and my favorite, the Sake Marinated Black Cod, which comes with a shrimp cake, shiitake mushrooms, zucchini ribbons with coconut lemon grass curry. We all enjoyed our meals. Dessert options included Key Lime Pie or Creme Brulee. Hubby wanted the Chocolate Turtle Cake from the dessert menu, which we ordered instead for an additional charge. This is definitely a place we visit when we're looking for a nice meal out or celebrating a special occasion. The food is always tasty, but the service can be spotty with food sequencing and being served luke-warm coffee. Once addressed, it was quickly remedied. Even with the minor mishaps, we plan to return.

UBE FRENCH TOAST - 5/5 I absolutely loved the French toast. The top and bottom had a perfectly crispy, crunchy exterior while the inside stayed soft and fluffy. The ube filling was light, creamy, and not overly sweet--I think it's made with cream cheese? It was the perfect balance of flavors. BREAKFAST MAC & CHEESE - 4.8/5 The mac & cheese was incredibly addictive and loaded with mushrooms, ham, and crispy hash brown bits. The flavors worked really well together. My only small complaint is that it was a little on the salty side. If it were slightly less salty, it would be perfect. We visited on a Sunday with a reservation, though there were still a few open tables around 2 PM. I highly recommend sharing your dishes since each one is pretty rich on its own. Pairing a sweet dish with a savory one made for the perfect meal!

The food was all very pretty and portion sizes were large! We were aware of this before coming through reading other people's online reviews, but the Ube French Toast tasted primarily of cream cheese. There's virtually no ube taste other than the ball of ube jam (?) ontop. This wasn't the biggest issue for us but I could see it devastating someone who came for a sweet creamy ube flavor explosion. I think with a menu like this, with a lot of creamy heavy items, having some fruit elements would've went a long way for me... The flavor combinations weren't really for me but I think they make sure to add many elements to each of their menu items to create a pretty comprehensive experience. So even though I didn't enjoy the taste of the food that much, I can definitely see other's enjoying it depending on their preferences and I do think they do the brunch concept justice. As a result I'll still give 4 stars. I don't think it wow'd me where I'd give it 5/5, its not a Seattle highlight restaurant I'd recommend to people visiting for 3-4 days.

When we arrived, the restaurant was clean and had a cool New York café feel -- basically your classic greasy-spoon-style breakfast spot. There was plenty of seating and no wait on a Thursday around 10:00 AM. My wife ordered the Homestyle Plate, which came with two pancakes, eggs, and bacon. I ordered the Ham Scram with egg whites and added mushrooms. There was a $3 upcharge for egg whites, which would have been nice to know when ordering. I also had a hot chocolate for $5.50. Overall, the breakfast was okay -- nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out or that I'd write home about. The staff was friendly, and our waiter was funny and personable, which made the experience enjoyable. The biggest downside was the price. Breakfast for two, including tip, came to $68.44, which felt pretty expensive for a basic café-style breakfast. Overall: good service, clean restaurant, plenty of seating, average breakfast, but on the pricey side.

The food was mid at best as was the coffee and the service. I had a farmhouse scramble and the man had the corned beef hash - both nothing to write home about and not to the standard of a NY/NJ diner. Perhaps their lunch and dinner is amazing - but we won't know because we won't be back.
