This diner used to be amazing. The food was amazing. Took all my out of town guests here. Then something changed. The normal meal I got was the same on the menu, but was different when it was brought out to me. First time I thought it was a one time substitution, but every time I come, it's always something. Last week when I was here they didn't tell me an important change. This week, my meal looked like someone had already chomped on it. Just EW. And they always forget things that are supposed to come w the meal too. read more

A staple in the community, I've always had good experiences at this diner. Breakfast, lunch or dinner at any hour, you cannot go wrong and it's affordable - all things I love about diners. They have a pretty lengthy menu and the staff know it pretty well. It's unfortunate that some have had bad customer service experience because I really enjoy this place and like to come here with family or friends. read more

Poor customer service. We had a party of 15 and we called ahead several hours and told them the time we were arriving. We get there and nothing is set or remotely ready. We stood around for 30 mins and they gave a table to another party prolonging our wait. Very disorganized . Never going back. read more

When I was attending Marist, I used to frequent this place. One, because it was walking distance from the college and two, because it was open 24 hours a day. I digress...their food isn't great but it isn't too bad either. It's definitely edible. I LOVE their Summer Sensation - which is some sort of tropical smoothie (I believe it has pineapple in it). The service is good and I even befriended a waitress that used to work there. Anyway, this place holds a lot of memories for me and for that, I will always love the Palace Diner. I hope to visit soon! read more

Owner or manager called the cops on a customer not causing any issues. The cops tased him while he kept asking what he did wrong. He wasn't doing anything wrong. They slammed him into the booth my husband and I were sitting at and my husband got hit with a piece of the taser that was discharged. We used to eat there frequently, but from the person that called the cops to the cops overreacting and tasing an old man in under a minute, we will not be returning. It was absolutely unnecessary and made me sick to my stomach. Also need to state, when I went into the restroom, there was some kind of drug paraphernalia in one of the stalls. read more

I have been going to this diner since I was a teenager, never did I have such a bad experience as last night. The waitress was horrible, walking around in circles, talking to the manager at the front counter, forgetting drinks, we waited over 20 mins for a hamburger and salad and it wasn't the cooks because when the food finally arrived the melted cheese on the fries had cooled which indicates the plate sat after it was completed. I couldn't even get my check I had to walk up to the counter. When I voiced my problem with the service I was told by a very young manager whom I had never seen before that she's not usually like that, it's really busy because they lost a service tonight...it wasn't until the end of excuses when I basically told him off that he decided to offer an apology. 1) I've seen it busier than it was last night and less wait staff on whom still managed to do their jobs well, I don't mind waiting for good service. 2) it's not my problem as a consumer that you are having management issues. 3) if she has time to walk around in circles and stop and talk to the MANAGER at the front counter for 5-6 mins at a time then she had time to at least check on her tables. 4) the food is usually wonderful but because it sat it was not good last night either. 5) I have worked in many customer service jobs you apologize, you try to make it right for the customer and you do not blame them for YOUR problems. 6) the manager did offer a discount--I do not care about the money, if I couldn't afford to I would not go out to eat, I want GOOD service at the very least. There are too many places to eat in the Hudson valley, I will not be coming here any longer and I will tell people to go elsewhere. read more

Our party of four had reservations for Thanksgiving. We were greeted and seated immediately. All four meals were incredible! Brenda our server was great even with a full restaurant. I have been going to the Palace for years. My wife is very picky and this is on her list for sure. read more

Although I am never impressed with diners (they all taste the same to me), the Palace Diner is a bit ahead of the curve on this one. Swung by on St. Patricks Day and had some bangers and mash and honestly, it tasted the same as all those Irish joints on McLean Ave around the corner from me. Breakfast is also not greasy and that my friends, is freaking amazing. Service is always nice but the hostess that seats you always seems mad. read more

went to try their "unusual" pancakes for breakfast. I had sweet potato pancakes and my husband had buckwheat .pancakes. Sweet p. pancakes were the winner! orange juice didn't taste too good and was too expensive for what you got. coffee was good. service were ok, need to go back to try something else for an updated review. read more

The Palace Diner sure hits the bill on exterior decor! The menu was extensive and hit the mark for both "diner-diner" food AND upscale diner food. We were seated at a booth with a jukebox, and our awesome waitress had us sipping on coffees in no time. Truth be told, the coffee was a little bitter, but everything else more than made up for it. My husband ordered his short stack with REAL maple syrup, and a tiny little individual serving jar was delivered at his request. I had my staple: two eggs over easy, ham, home fries, and rye toast. It was delicious. My husband's short stack had a pat of butter and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. His eggs benedict were good, but no where NEAR as good as the eggs benedict that he gets at Jack's in Albany. I ordered a short stack of sweet potato pancakes. I can not tell you how delicious these are! It was like eating sweet potato pie in pancake form. Eating at the Palace made me wish that it was close than 2 hours away. If you ever find yourself in the Hudson Valley, this is definitely a place worth checking out. read more

Good food. Clean. The breakfast was amazing. I only went there once. I must say if you are looking for a more upscale diner experience this is the place to go. The staff is friendly, and the place was very clean. The coffee I had that day was okay. Hot, fresh, just not my cup of tea. Overall, the experience is something I will reccomd to others. Locals or non-local. read more

ordered steak and avocado quesadilla, bacon burger, and fries on doordash. hubby didn't like his burger but my quesadilla was sooo good! best quesadilla in the area so far! it was loaded with steak, onions, peppers, and chunks of avocado; messy but worth it! also they gave us sooo many fries! will definitely order again, no clue what the interior is like but it would be nice to try eating in when the pandemic is over read more

All is good at the palace diner.... The comfy joe is awesome - meatloaf, mashed potatoes, onion strings and gravy on challah bread.... The tex-mex wrap, which I think is a new menu item is great.... Breakfast is always good.... Great selection and great service.... I would give it 5 stars, but it can be a little pricey.... If you get a wrap with sweet potato fries and a drink, it can easily be $20 with tax and tip.... Overall I would recommend the palace to anyone looking for a great variety of good food with good service.... read more

Was waiting for an order. Host was in the kitchen preparing Togo orders. No gloves. Coughed into elbow. Continued to top Togo containers. Told him to cancel my order and get some gloves and a mask. read more

Went there last night October 13th 2020 at 1am had the worse service ever. Had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come to my table and ask what drinks I want. Waitress had a nasty attitude whole time had to get up and find the waitress to get refills. Food was disgusting I been going here for 30 years never had such a bad experience. Grey hair manager talks to his employees disgusting and has very poor customer service skills overall I still left the lady a 14 dollar tip, never again will I go there what a disgrace. I feel bad for anyone who works there or eats there. read more

Wow, I have been coming here for years but tonight I had the pleasure of having a server named Nancy. I came in for just a cheesecake but with some magic she convinced me to get a drink and a food?! Like WHAT! Nancy is an absolute doll and I can't wait to come back just to see her! read more

I have been coming here since I was a child. I do know that the diner has recently changed ownership several times in the past 2 years. The food is not a problem, it never has been. Sometimes there is a coleslaw or bbq sauce missing from order but that is ok. One of the issues lately is the blonde manager/owner(?) always very flirty with me but nasty to my wife. I thought maybe it was a bad day for her the first time, but now my wife refuses to go in. The lady is rude and never fails to not stare at my wife in a rude demeanor. One time she asked my wife rudely " what are u waiting for in front of my register!" She clearly has a problem with attractive women. I have also seen it while dining in, how she stares at other women, very weird. I let it slide that the place hires rude streetwalkers( they hung up the phone on my wife when she called to speak to owner). Crew is odd. Go to table talk or acropolis. You can clearly see the Vanikiotis family does not run the place anymore. If you do go like I said food is not bad. Go in the early morning! Guy Mikey is a Manager really nice and respectful and the overnight crew is good too. The overnight manager has been there for years. Avoid dinners completely, especially if u want to be treated decent. New Owner please evaluate the faces and personalities up front, and answering the phone! This is what guests deal with and its not pleasing. Im still a customer but only for breakfast or late late night. read more

So I'm only giving this place 2 stars because the waitress was really sweet and attentive. Thanks Terese. My burger so NOT cooked medium. In fact it was almost well done and the meat crumbling apart. Buns were hard. Sweet Potato fries were greasy, limp and cold. Nachos were cold too. In fact, none of my food was actually at a decent hot temperature. I was only up in this area for the haunted house not too far away. Thank God there will be no reason for me to return. Goodbye. read more

I spent $14 for a breakfast sandwich none of my condiments are on it. when I called to let them know I was told by the person who answered, "I don't make the sandwiches the people in the back do.". this is how restaurants get bad ratings. this is how people go other places to eat. this is how businesses get shut down. Do better, you can't charge all that money and not get it right. There are way too many other places to get breakfast from. I won't be returning for any meal. read more

Went here with my son a few weeks back. The food was great, reasonable prices, clean tables and menus, awesome waitress

As a Marist alum, I have fond memories of late nights at The Palace. It's been over 20 years since I last ate there but it hasn't changed a bit. And that's a good thing. I ordered my traditional bacon cheeseburger deluxe as I did many times before while at Marist and I'm happy to report it's just as good as ever. The burger is still 8 oz. and served with cheese on both the top and bottom bun along with plenty of bacon and a ton of French Fries. Good stuff. Regardless of what you order off the huge menu, portions are big, prices are still reasonable and the food is very good. Believe it or not, to this day I still think The Palace is the best diner I've ever tried. I still haven't found one anywhere that is better. That's because whatever I ordered during my college days was always really good. Since things haven't changed in terms of quality and the food, why should I? If you didn't attend Marist you'll probably ask, "why does this guy think THIS diner is the best?" If you spent many a night there while at school, then you understand. read more

We waited 45 minutes for our breakfast which when it arrived it was cold. The sausage was terrible, left it, afraid it was bad. Worse of all was their lack of social distancing. What is the point of plastic partitions when you allow people to stand in the isles brushing up against other diners tables with no masks on. Not one manager did or said anything to them. This was the last time I'll be going there, disgraceful. read more

Just ordered delivery late night because no one else was delivering and im happy i did. We got 2 salads and they we both great. Greek salad was very fresh and delicious. Steakhouse wedge salad was totally worth it. Steak came cooked perfectly cooked. Will be ordering again. read more

After a few hours of exploring the local area, a friend and I came here for dinner before driving back to NYC. He'd been here before, but this was my first time. The decor on the inside is great and the whole place looked clean. There were lots of delicious-looking desserts in the display case and I'm not sure how I resisted them, haha. Our waitress was friendly and our food came out quick (though they weren't very busy at the time). I ordered a vegetable quesadilla, which was good, though the pieces of vegetable were rather large. Other than that, the meal was nice and I'd come back if I were in the area again. read more

I don't think I've ever been to a diner that stood out as being really great. To me, they're all pretty much the same and you know what you're going to get. The Palace is no exception. They have an almost overwhelmingly large selection of foods. Everything that I have tried at this particular diner - ranging from pasta dishes to wraps to breakfast foods - have all been good. Nothing exceptional, but definitely not bad. And they give you very large portions, typically enough for a solid two meals. The prices seem a bit steep, but once you see the amount of food they give you, you kinda forget about the price. They're desserts are great too, though I usually can't find fault with desserts. I only give the Palace three stars because it's a diner and is nothing that hasn't been done before, but I've never had a bad experience here and would recommend it if looking for a bite to eat in the area of Marist College. read more

Went to the Palace today for a lunchtime treat No question that diner is a great place to eat I have been a customer longer than I can recall The Palace, one of the finest, they have it all Chicken orzo soup, lots of chicken, veggies, pasta with consume Followed by a turkey club triple decker, a perfect lunch for the day The clam chowder Manhattan style was enjoyed by my guest Delicious, fantastic she said "one of the best" You name it they have it, no matter what meal The food, the service, outstanding, and you get a great deal So when in Poughkeepsie near Marist College on route 9 Stop in at the Palace, you will be satisfied every time read more

So I'm an incoming freshman at Marist, this school year. and I met up with these girls who are also incoming freshies, and she showed me this place and I liked it so much! I'm not going to say a whole lot about the Palace Diner, because every other diner in this chain is really great, BUT... When you advertise "beef medallions" as a special, do NOT serve me goddamned hunks of flat, chewy flank steak. Just say that it's flank steak, guys. $23 of sheer disappointment. And who the hell thought that pineapple went with mashed potatoes? Flavorless swordfish with mashed potatoes mixed sloppily with pineapple was just a terrible idea. Another $23 blown. Service was great, found a seat quickly on a crowded night, and everything was comfortable, but the specials were absolutely terrible. We'll stick with The Daily Planet. read more

Disappointed!! I have been frequenting this diner since childhood! And always loved coming here whether for a late night meal with friends or lunch with my little one . Today I went in and was disgusted with the lack of professionalism and customer service!! I went to grab a quick desert ( that's already made sitting in the glass display!) I wait for 5 minutes for someone to come and when he comes he disregards me and begins to check someone out . I wait for the couple to pay and begin to place my order when he calls over the next person paying for their meal!! Then another man comes over whom I'm assuming may be the owner and begins to check out even more customers . This girl waiting in line ask me if I needed to order and I say yes and tell them man my order and I'm met with a very nasty "you have to wait" I told him I shouldn't have to wait I was waiting here before all of these people came up. then again he tells me to wait!! I ended up walking out . Very rude and not how you treat customers!! I won't be coming back read more

The waiter that we had was great but the food was COLD and gross everything was microwaved even the pancakes and coffee . My family had to return almost everything we ordered . The grits had no seasoning neither did the eggs . The regular 3 stack was dry and hard at the bottom and the home fries were bland and had NO flavour . The lemonade was STRONGLY sweet . The Apple pancakes stack was also very sweet and had some hard parts of it . read more

Palace Diner is a very popular location for alot of Marist Students. While it is very large, it always seems to be packed, so prepare to find a parking spot that is very far away. It doesn't sound like a breakfast item, but it's really good! read more

I thought this diner was going to be amazing but I was actually surprised. I got their burger and their toppings were bland along with their actual meat. The fries were good though and tasted amazing with the gravy. Also I got their chocolate shake which was ok. The reason I say it was ok is because it was actually kinda creamy and didn't taste chocolately. But other than that the service was really good!!! read more
