Lemon chicken/chowmein plate with some eaten egg roll. Lol
Liz L.

We found this spot via DoorDash. They only had one pic on DoorDash so I went to Yelp to see if they had more pix to get a vibe if it would be worth the gamble. Y'all!!! Take the leap! It was delicious and my sister and I were so glad we gave them a shot. We are moving out of the Bay Area and were starving after packing all day. It met the comfort food and full belly craving!! Bitter sweet that we are finding this spot with less than a month in our current location but sure did appreciate the delicious and affordable dinner. The only item we didn't care for was the hot and sour soup. I cannot be 100% but for people wondering it was definitely vegetarian (if not vegan). No shrimp or chicken in it. It's a bit different than I'm used to. More gelatinous, not enough white pepper or vinegar to my preference. But everything else was fresh and perfectly cooked. I kept it low carb with kung pow chicken. Got string beans and chicken to share. Sister got a chicken combo plate (lemon chicken/chowmein) + app egg roll order. We figured leftovers!! Again, all delicious (minus the soup).

Kung pao chicken, vegetable chow mein, vegetable rice, sweet and sour pork, egg roll, Mongolian beef.

My friends and I decided to get Chinese for NYE and one of my friends recommended this spot. We placed an order online and they said they'd stay open to 6:30 complete our order. We rushed over but when we got there other people were waiting for their food as well and we ended up waiting 30mins which wasn't too much of an issue except we thought the order would be ready since we called it in 40mins before. Thinking the wait meant the food was great I figured it would be really really good. I feel bad saying I didn't enjoy everything. The vegetable rice wasn't vegetable fried rice, maybe we missed the mark when ordering it? It seemed like steamed white rice with vegetables. The orange chicken was mushy, they should put the sauce separately like their sweet and sour pork. The kung pao chicken and mongolian beef were spicy and really good. And their egg rolls were good too Overall some of their items were a hit for me and others missed the mark, in my opinion. I say it's still worth a shot trying them as everyone has their own preference, but not sure I'll be returning soon. I'm only knocking off one star because the people who work here are nice and their food is good but it just wasnt an overall favorite of mine.

Hole in the wall heaven! I came here cuz I was craving hot and sour soup. The soup was good but the star of the show was my beef broccoli and fried rice lunch special. For just $12 I got one of the tastiest lunch dishes I've ever had. Everything was piping hot and made fresh. The woman who worked there was also really nice. Don't judge a book by its cover, this place is amazing !!!

Definitely a hole in the wall that you'll want to try. Service was pretty good. Our food was cooked right away. Fried rice and chow mein is fire. Mongolian beef is flavorful. Def come check it out.

They had great…read morerecommendations, were accommodating, and showed lovely empathy for a solo adult with two cranky 8 year olds. The girls devoured the garlic noodles. Not a single strand left! That's unusual for my girls and I was so happy they ate! I put away the dumplings & green beans. There were plenty leftovers for the next day lunch. The food was a touch salty. However, not enough to be deterred from going back. Small and yet spacious place. The 4 stars is simply because my go to dumpling place cannot be beat. Altho I'd rather eat here for the wonderful servers & ambiance compared to dingy Dumpling Capitol. We were stuffed and not able to indulge in the dessert dumplings. The ube & chocolate combo sounds fantastic. I will make it a point to save room the next time we hit up San Pedro square and sap center!

The name does not live up to the hype because they were not serious about customer satisfaction…read morefrom my experience. If you're going to be paying $60-$70 for two people, you would at least expect your food not to be burnt and the staff not be rude! I have been looking forward to going to this place for two years, it was a birthday dinner and I was so disappointed by my experience. I understand that it's downtown San Jose and we came in the evening, so maybe that's just how closing staff is. First off when we were seated, I asked to be moved to a more comfortable's table because the chairs were really uncomfortable for me. The staff seemed irritated and said "I guess" which was the first red flag because it's nerve-racking enough to ask for a special request and to be met with an unprofessional answer like that was disheartening. Secondly, two orders of dumplings came out burnt, which was seriously disappointing. We could barely eat them. We didn't end up finishing them. I brought this up to staff. He told me they weren't burnt and that's just how they are. I know the difference between burnt and browned and these were definitely burnt hard on the bottom and inedible. He begrudgingly told me well "I'm sorry but you'd still would have to pay for another order". I don't think that's fair at all so I said "it's fine were ok" I don't wanna give this company any more of my money anyway if this is how they treat their customers. Lastly, once we were done with our food and paid the check, the man came back to our table and asked us if there was anything he could do for us and how if we enjoyed our meal this felt like a slap in the face after everything I've already asked of him that he refused and denied and being met with a disingenuous offer just felt petty. All in all, I wouldn't go here if you're looking for food that is not burnt Service that is helpful and hospitable. Andexperience that is anything above fast casual dining.

Honey Walnut shrimp was okay, didn't like the sauce on it too much. Fried rice and egg rolls were good. I would recommend

Usually you might remember the experience, an entree, but the name will elude you. Home Eat is a memorable name, and while it isn't a phrase that we might use often, it feels like a perfect encapsulation of the feeling of eating here, even if I've never eaten like this in my home or in any. Solid Cantonese comfort food tonight. We ordered family-style and every dish delivered…read more The salt and pepper fish fillet was the table favorite -- puffy, golden batter that stayed crisp, tender fish inside, finished with fried garlic and scallions. Not greasy at all, which is where a lot of places lose me. The BBQ combo platter (crispy roast pork +roast duck) is the other must-order. The siu yuk skin had that proper shattering crunch with juicy meat underneath, and the roast duck was silky with lightly crispy skin. Both dipping sauces on point. The clay pot chicken came out bubbling on its warmer, with red onion and scallion in a savory, slightly sweet glaze with salted meat -- great over rice. And the string beans with pork cheek had real wok hei, blistered beans with caramelized edges, not steamed-and-sauced like the lazy version. Portions are generous, everything came out hot, and this is exactly the kind of cooking that tastes like a family kitchen doing it right. Would come back for the fish fillet and the roast pork alone. They served sweet bean soup after dinner. Service was quick and ambiance is bright and causal.

Not the same Mayflower that I went to growing up but this place did NOT disappoint…read more We were in the mood for dim sum on the way to the T&T grocery store opening and yelp brought us here. We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. Instead of leaving, we browsed the menu and ordered XLB, pot stickers, jelly fish, and pea sprouts (my personal fav) so glad we didn't leave! The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit! The poor owner answering the phones made sure (in all languages) to inform folks calling in that there were a different May Flower than the other place-felt terrible for her but also understood the importance of differentiating right up front. I can only imagine the number of misorders they have probably dealt with. By the time we were done, the dining room was filled with a mix of what seemed like regulars, locals, large groups of families, small groups of friends... this feels like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall restaurant where everyone who has been before just knows the quality and taste they are going to be getting! Highly recommend you check this place out for a dine in or take out order!
