Pacific Catch in Sunnyvale just opened. The décor is attractive. The waitress, Victoria, was attentive and sweet. Since it is new, there were only a few customers. I ordered the miso soup, which was pretty good. Then I ordered two fish tacos - the spicy salmon tacos and they were tasty. One thing that I did not like was the rock music that blared out of their speakers. That genre of music irritated me. The customers varied in age from 20s to 80s. I bet that rock music does not appeal to most middle aged and older folks. So why does Pacific Catch play irritating rock music? My guess is it is what the employees want, but the restaurant should be for the customers. Am I wrong? read more

While I've had good experiences here, this time the food was pretty average. Some food came out warm not hot and wonder out if it was just sitting there waiting to be served. I didn't have strong feelings about the rice. The yolk of the egg was not cooked at all! I wish they would have asked me if I wanted my egg fully cooked. The steak was nice; it had a good flavor. The food at this restaurant was good. The service wasn't that great. The water was room temperature on a 95 degree day. Aside from that it was a pleasant experience because of the people I was with. The only thing I can say is a turn off from going back is the "Living Wage Surcharge". Even though it may not be a tremendous amount, out of principal it is not my responsibility to pay the staff a competitive wage or living wage. As other people have mentioned, they aren't paying living wages for Palo Alto standards. I add gratuity to show my appreciation, but don't want to be taxed three times on my bill. Especially getting taxed on the "Living Wage Surcharge" I don't support owners that create a profit from a nonsense "post pandemic" tax! read more

Passed by many chains often but this was the first time I've actually gone only to be very disappointed. My family and I ordered the pupu platter, crab and shrimp roll (sent back), fish and chips, Korean BBQ plate, and fries. Everything was just like not good lol and kind of cold. Just go to an actual seafood place. The dishes are not tasteful. Customer service was average. Our waitress was overzealous saying everything was "really good" but the fries were bland and soft, the fish (although good quality) was undercooked. We didn't eat much of our food. Food was great, no doubt about that. The original poke took me back to the poke I had in Maui and the wontons were great too. I went during happy hour but wanted a to-go order. They said I had to pay the full price since happy hour deals are only dine-in. So I decided to pay the full price instead of getting the happy hour deal. I should've taken a picture but when I got home and opened the food container I was like "This is it...?" haha. I'm not sure if there's a difference in portion sizes when it comes to happy hour plates vs dinner hour plates but the images of plates I've seen online didn't come close to the amount of what I ordered "to-go". I got the coconut shrimp sharable (appetizer), the poke and ceviche trio plate totaling to about $40 and I was still hungry after haha. Went about a month ago, we went during happy hour and there was only 3 other tables. Our waitress was overwhelmed as more guests arrived after us. Super slow getting an extra set of utensils, a straw, etc. The fish and chips were cold and soggy. Because we weren't getting any service, we had to flag someone down. The bar tender, Josh or Joseph (started with a J), helped us. Super nice and offered to replace the fish and chips but we declined. His apology was sincere and he was really personable. My mom tasked me with choosing a place for dinner since her high school best friends were visiting for a reunion (they traveled from the Philippines & Canada) I chose this place because the Yelp page looked like delicious food and beautiful ambiance- when we arrived that was only the beginning! Our experience started with Nick who greeted us kindly and was so patient with us after the ladies looked around the room and requested the biggest corner booth. Soon after we were seated we were greeted by our waiter, Joseph. Once we all realized we are all Filipino he was so kind in entertaining all my mom's questions and expertly explained the menu! The food came out swiftly and everything tasted as amazing as it looked! We were greeted by the restaurant manager, Matt asking about our experience and were gifted some happy hour coupons! Most memorably- the aunties wanted a refill of our tea post meal.. when I requested another pot of tea and offered to pay, Matt and Joseph were so kind to offer it on the house, and they came out with TWO tea pots! The food was excellent but what truly made our experience was the extra mile service! Although we live cities away- we'll definitely be back!! Had a great Bday celebration with my fiancée. The manager, I believe her name was Maddy was very welcoming and friendly. As a pescatarian, I crave a wide choice of imaginative seafood options and Pacific Catch really delivers, with a brand range of creative choices on the asia-pacific-themed menu. I've been 8-10 times now and I believe there's more gems to find. My recommendations: Guaca-poke, as the name suggests, what's not to like? Viet Hot Fish delivered on being a sweet and spicy burger option, Japanese Grill is a terrific sharing plate with a lot of variety, and the Mexican Grill Shrimp bowl is delicious. A little tip on the bowls: the plenty-big-enough regular size has the same amount of protein for $2.50 less, so it's the better deal. The recently-added 'Noodle time menu' adds a Creamy Miso Salmon bowl that we loved and tasty little dumpling 'tots.' Our favorite pick to date is the Fresh Catch mix-and-match: Unami Miso Glazed Yellowtail. Some of the sides are fantastic: where have sides of glazed shishito peppers been all my life? I'd order them anywhere! The Mexican Elote Corn is also delicious. I'm just delighted by the variety, consistency and invention on this menu. I also appreciate that they buy their seafood according to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Guide (and other guides), so you can have confidence that the fish options are selected responsibly. Meanwhile, the staff have been friendly (even bringing over the executive chef to our table to say hi!) and the restaurant is bright and cheerful. It is a local chain (13, nearly all Bay Area) so it's not 'fine dining' exactly, but the best of upper/mid-market eating. If you're deciding between locations, the food is near-identical at Cupertino and San Antonio, with Cupertino offering street-side dining (with the inevitable parade of Teslas swishing by, if you like that). If they were all equidistant, I might choose San Antonio for the more private garden/patio, but you can't beat walking distance if you're going to indulge on the magnificent Mai Tai's! If you're eating indoors, I think Sunnyvale might be the nicest choice. read more

Madeline the manager was so easy to deal with, helped us select a menu and guided me through the process. The food was very fresh, delicious, and plentiful for a hungry group. Well this place got great reviews so we went for my birthday. The food was almost inedible. It seemed like they barely warmed up what was leftover from lunch. We had fish and chips, a shrimp bowl and fish tacos. For appetizers had the coconut shrimp. It all just was bland and lukewarm. I'm not a picky eater but only ate a few bites. Definitely did not get the to go box that was offered. At least the overpriced wine was good. Very disappointed. Do you like lukewarm shrimp with the texture of damp cardboard? No not me either. Horrific experience and would never recommend this place to anyone, EVER. Our server was god awful and unattentive. For such a well-decorated restaurant I expected the tables to be AT LEAST leveled. Our reservation was for four and half the party couldn't dine without the constant shaking of the table. We tried bringing the table's problem to the attention of our server but she never bothered to check up on us. Upon sitting down, our server brought us four sets of utensils and 3 were disgustingly dirty. We asked to send them back but our server only grabbed one set before hastefully walking away. Our water bottle and glasses were foggy and dirty, a familiarly correspondenct cleanliness to our utensils. The server never once refilled our water and instead we asked other staff members for refills. Our drinks came out before our food, a strong indication of poorly trained staff members. 5/5 decoration 0/5 staff experience 0/5 cleanliness 0/5 furniture maintenance 0/5 recommendation I duely hope your staff can do math better than they can serve, because that's a 1/5 stars.
