The burgers are super juicy and evenly cooked. I got the double smashed and my wife got the zesty bacon smash. I would definitely get the zesty smash again but make it a double patty. The service was super good. The staff were friendly and even recommended some sauces to try. We ordered pick up but ate in. The food was still hot and fresh off the grill/fryer. Surprisingly for it being 4:30pm in the afternoon it's not busy. Some mellow music and a few customers. Great time to beat the dinner rush I suppose. read more

Best burger in davis. I'm a recent adopter of smashed burgers. I used to love a thick juicy medium rare but man, now that I get it, I get it. I've tried all the smash burgers around me in my hometown portland Oregon and I like Outpost better than any of them. The pickles are big and crispy and just the right amount tart, the bun is soft and brioche-y with the right amount of chewy, and the patties are cooked brilliantly with Lacie crispy edges and so juicy. Assemled Assembled a bit sloppily with the patty overflowing the bun and covered in a thin layer of cheese... I just had it two nights in a row. And the fries are yummy. This unique burger establishment was a fabulous surprise to me. As a marketing professional, the restaurant's logo caught my eye because it looks like the logo that you would find used by the California State Park System. The onion smash burger was a fabulous taste for me because it reminded me of how the national chain Smashburger uses fresh ingredients in their burgers. In addition, the ability for a consumer to "add or subtract" ingredients on top of the burger patty keeps this restaurant in compliance with other micro-burger restaurants. As a reviewer of local restaurants, I use a Romanesque rating system so with that disclaimer, I would give Outpost Burger 5 stars for its Breads and 4.5 stars for its Circuses! As an added + from a marketing standpoint, success of a restaurant is how they handle the small details that help support their business brand. Outpost Burger uses a thicker than normal paper bag that is greatly appreciated by this reviewer. I would imagine that the reason why these thicker paper bags are used is because if the paper bag was thinner, the juices from their burgers so seep through the bag. read more

With that said, I tried their deluxe onion burger with no pickles. It was FIRE. They have a similar sauce to in-n-out in their burgers, which I looooove. Their fries are also steak fries and thick cut. They were thick, but cooked perfectly and seasoned correctly (not too salty). They also provided ranch when I asked cus that's the best dip for fries. We got the zesty bacon onion smash, bacon cheese fries, and cup of chili. The bacon and sauce on the burger made it pretty tasty. Fries were interesting. They put a little salsa on top which gave it a little kick. They have some arcades and claw machines in the back for some entertainment. I'll come back. read more

Was really craving a burger for the past week so I stopped by! You either go up to the front to order or there's a little kiosk. I ordered the deluxe onion smashburger and a side of plain steak cut fries. Fries-On their own, a bit too salty for my tastes and not too much other flavor. They were very crispy and warm, and quite good when dipped in ranch. Burger-Perfectly good burger that hit the spot. Sauce is nice, there's a nice balance of vegetables and meat, and I really like how the bread bun tastes. Overall not a blow-your-mind burger but for it's price point, it's very reasonable. Definitely a place I would like to come back to, I think for around $14 plus tip it's not bad. I'd like to try their chili items! read more

We ordered online for pickup, and the process was quite smooth, with the bag being ready as soon as we arrived. The interior is incredibly spacious, with much more seating that I would have expected. The food itself is pretty on par with any other fast food you can get around Davis, and their onion smash patty is definitely the best part. The burger is a bit messy, since the bun isn't cut entirely in half, but that has never been a problem for me with burgers! Unfortunately they forgot to put the lettuce and tomatoes on my deluxe burger, so I paid an extra dollar for just a plain onion smash burger. The impossible patty was good though! My partner and I agreed that the chili fries were the best part of the meal - large wedge cut fries with ample amounts of cheese and chili. The burgers were also pretty small, so the addition of the fires was needed for us to feel full. Overall I didn't find too much about our order that we couldn't gotten for cheaper at a fast food restaurant, but we enjoyed the meal and the service! Outpost has some of the best smash burgers in Davis. I mean these are consistently some damn tasty burgers. You get a lot of customization options so your burger is to your liking. My only down is about their fries. They are thicker steak-fries and not the crispy shoe-string type. They offer chili-cheese fries but even that doesn't make them great. For great fries check out Bull N Mouth or Froggy's. So, come here for the burgers and not the fries. read more

Initially walking into Outpost Burger in Davis, CA you are immediately met by a nasty gas sewer smell... That should have been my indication of not to order food there. But instead, I placed an order for the Bacon Avo Smash Burger with the fries and drink, and I was up charged additional money for a mango lemonade, lettuce, and double tomato. The order was made to go and ready within 7 minutes which is suspect because how is my food done this fast at a restaurant? I get it back to the office began eating the food. The burger is underwhelming! The small pieces of bacon were old tasting and the avocado wasn't avocado. It tasted like store bought guac, and I didn't see or taste the pepper jack cheese that was supposed to be on it. The fries were refried to heat them which you could clearly tell. Last, I took a sip of the mango lemonade, and i immediately noticed the taste was off.. it tasted like mold! I through it away, and decided to write this review. The total cost for my burger, fries, and mango lemonade was $24.77. That is absurd! Had the quality of the food been top tier, I would not have left this review. Don't waste your money at this place. Also a little fyi there is a bar next door and you can get a beer from over there and bring it into outpost burger and also you can take food over to the bar. Finally got to try this place out. Boyfriend and I wanted to share a Deluxe Onion Smash. Cashier gave us two drink cups, that was nice. For a Saturday afternoon, it was not busy at all. Maybe one or two other customers. Plenty of seating available for both small and bigger groups. The burger itself was pretty small. The patty was very thin and smashed looking. Interesting concept. The patty had that smoky grilled flavor. Good burger, but nothing special. Steak fries were also nothing special. Topped with sea salt. For the price and location (right next to Parkside), I'd say it's convenient for college kids. However, nothing tops Burgers and Brews or Froggy's if you want that gourmet burger and variety. But for a simple burger that's not McDonald's this will do. Would have liked them to expand on their theme though. Burgers with park names and little toothpick posts on the burger... etc... missed opportunity! Would I come back? Well I don't see myself craving a burger from here in the future.
