The food here is really delicious. They have a great variety on their menu even serving breakfast. We ordered the tri tip cheese steak sandwich with tater tots that was really good the tator tots were nice and crispy. We also ordered a regular hamburger and a grilled chicken sandwich with pesto mayo. The pesto mayo was a nice touch and the chicken wasn't over cooked or dry it was nice and juicy. This place gives me sports bar vibes with a very friendly attentive staff. This is our second time coming here and it definitely wont be our last. We are from out of town and I have 3 kids. We decided to give this place a try as it had really great reviews. This place is NOT welcoming for kids of any differences. If you know, it is already incredibly hard taking an autistic child to a restaurant. The manager thought it was ok to tell my 13 year old to put on my autistic son's shoes..... (why not ask me, the mom?) As my son is screaming and heaving a full meltdown over shoes now, the manager continues to apologize because there were possibly glass shards on the ground in his restaurant. If that is the case, maybe someone else should be notified as that is a serious safety hazard and my son would get cut anyway as he has sandals that expose his feet, as did my daughter. I will never eat here and will make sure to let all my friends with and without kids with disabilities to never eat here. What an unacceptable excuse this place made me and my family feel. Best burger in Davis that I've had in the 13 years I've lived here. The meat is well seasoned, bun is nicely toasted, and the different topping options are all, at least of the ones I've tried, delicious and true to name. Even the fries are well cooked and seasoned. Solid brunch spot in downtown Davis! My boyfriend and I came in around 11:30am on a Sunday and were told the wait for food would be about 45 mins, but we were already committed to trying this place so we stuck it out. We ordered and paid inside first, then elected to sit outside. I ordered the chipotle breakfast quesadilla and my boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy. Everything was tasty and I particularly enjoyed the crispy tater tots in my quesadilla. Froggy's is such a cute name and that was what made me interested, along with their delicious food options. They have a good amount of seating inside and outside the restaurant. Usually, in a short glass, you either taste the tequila or the sweet & sour as the main experience.... BUT not Molly's! Her margarita was perfect. One of my favorite places to go to in Downtown Davis. My friends first introduced me to this place last year when we went out for drinks. We tried a bunch of different drinks that all had pretty unique tastes. For food, I ordered a chicken quesadilla which was the CHEESIEST quesadilla ever. I was levitating by how cheesy it was. 10/10 cheese pull I was thoroughly impressed. The next time I came here, I ordered a classic BLT sandwich with a side of tater tots to go. The sandwich hit the spot, and I was obsessing over the tater tots. They were SO CRUNCHY even after it was sitting in the box for a bit. 10/10 crunch for sure. The ambience can be pretty hectic since it tends to get packed. Wait times can be upwards of 1 hour depending on the time you come, so be mindful of that. As a former UC Davis student, I have passed by Froggy's multiple times and never made time to try it. It's a bit tucked away in a corner of downtown by the Amtrak station, but that was perfect on a sunny Saturday when I wanted to avoid the Central Park/Farmer's Market area. My friend got a table outside while I went in to grab menus: you order at the bar and grab your drinks. The man working the bar was very friendly and we had a nice chat as he was getting the drinks ready. I got the Eggs Benedict and an iced tea while my friend got the Breakfast Quesadilla. The Eggs Benedict were standard but yummy, and I really loved the crunchy breakfast potatoes. My friend's quesadilla was massive and she said it was very delicious and filling. We ate outside, which is nice especially when the weather isn't too hot or cold, but they have seating indoors as well. How have I not tried this place before now?! It took watching them highlighted on a Food Network show for me to try them out. I've been living in Davis for over eight years, and in the Sacramento area for 10 years before that, frequently visiting Davis... but have never eaten here before now. I think previously, I thought it was just a college bar. I love the ambience, cozy diner/small town bar feel. I chatted up the bartender a little bit, told him I came because of the Food Network show. Tommy, the chef & owner, came out a little later while we were enjoying his food, to chat a little bit also. Super nice guys and locals. If you are interested, you can watch "Best Bite in Town" produced by Guy Fieri, the very first episode of the first season is Davis! My husband had the Agee jam, the burger that was highlighted on the show, and I had their Philly cheesesteak. The Aggie jam is heavy, but you know what you're signing up for since it says a healthy serving of goat cheese. The Philly cheesesteak with au jus (could have used a little more salt) really hit the spot for lunch. I did not feel overly stuffed after. I can't wait to try more items on the menu, looks like they have several award-winning burgers. They also have a kids menu, and happy hour every weekday until 7 PM with half off appetizers. Tommy told us he just competed in another Food Network showdown that will air soon. Supposedly a burger show down. I think it's great for a small local business to highlight its food and the town. My friend recommended Froggy's to me, and I secretly came here without him since I was conflicted on where to go for lunch. If you're reading this, sorry Jason. I got a California chicken sandwich with a side of clam chowder. So good! The clam chowder was rich and included plenty of clams/potato, and the chicken sandwich was divine. The avocado spread on the sesame bun truly stole the show, it elevated the entire sandwich to high heavens. If I come back to Davis, Froggy's will still have a place in my heart for blessing me with such a well balanced sandwich in terms of vegetables, meat, carbs, and flavor. Sometimes things you ate in college aren't actually as good as you thought they were, but Froggy's is an exception. There were only a few other customers there during our visit on a Saturday morning. I imagine it probably gets busier later in the morning! The staff were all super nice and accommodating. While there are better places for burgers (lost the Davis burger Chef Grudge match), brunch, or cocktails, what you get is the convenience of choices, which is great for larger groups. The burgers are just as good as usual - this time I tried the swiss cheeseburger with fries with a Deschutes IPA (superb!). They have big screen TVs hanging outside - so you get the feeling of being inside with the charm of being outside. You just need to order your food and drinks inside and they bring it out to you! I had the Aggie burger here and philly tots to go... Sooooo good.. I usually can't handle much of "heavier" foods (e.g. meat, cheese, etc...) but I couldn't help myself from coming here after seeing how great everything looked. No regrets!!! I'm a fast and small portions eater so I could only manage to finish half the burger (theyre huge!) and my only regret is that I didn't have enough room in my stomach, lol.. We have ate here a few times. Food is always good. My server yesterday I believe her name was Makayla was great! Very friendly, asked several times if I needed anything. Removed my plate as soon as I was done. My only complaint is when you walk in they say right away take a menu and sit wherever you would like. It just seems very odd and when there are 3 servers just standing there why can't they great you at the door ? I saw 2 parties leave due to that.
