Never been to this place before, but it was surprisingly good! It was empty when we went on a Saturday for lunch. I got a carnitas burrito ($20) and for lunch their dishes come with a soup or salad and rice and beans. They have a classic menu of Mexican dishes and their portions are big! They also has free chips and salsa and that salsa was phenomenal. I got the soup and it was really good although a tad salty. There were veggies in it and the soup came out HOT. I also typically dont like meatballs but the meatball was yummy! The portions for the dishes are massive. Def a pretty good deal in my opinion. The burrito was delicious. The tortilla was nice and crispy and flaky, the carnitas was also crispy but not dry. I think it was just pico and carnitas in the burrito but it was so yummy! A lot of meat in the burrito. The food was good, the service was good, and there's a nice outdoor patio. I gave it five stars even though it was a bit expensive. I ordered a carnitas burrito, which came to $26.21 after tax. It did come with a salad, rice, beans, and chips and salsa. The salad was really fresh and had a tasty cilantro dressing. The rice and beans were hot and delicious. The chips were crispy, and the salsa was had a great flavor. My burrito was packed with rice, beans, carnitas, pico de gallo and very filling. It was a good lunch, and our server was great. I loved the ambience of the restaurant and the charm of the Davis area. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They had a nice outdoor dining space as well. The inside chairs were so comfortable! They had a lot of options for my friend who is a vegetarian. I ordered all vegetarian food as well and was really pleased. Good Mexican food, a great patio for outdoor eating. Located across from the Amtrak Station in downtown Davis. We walked in on a Friday evening. Our party of 6 was seated promptly. Our server, Brandon was attentive and very helpful. Chips & salsa as well as coloring sheets and crayons were delivered to the table promptly. We ordered the kids food right away and the kid's platters came as we were sipping drinks and ordering our entrees. A nice varied menu of steak, beef, chicken, fish items. And a wide selection of bar drinks, wine, beer and NA beverages. I got the steak taco salad. Nice shell, lots of meat. My BH got a pork enchilada platter. The enchilada was stuffed with meat. I didn't grow up with any sisters, but if I did, I kinda wish my three sisters cooked like this. I would have been even more of a Gordito growing up though. I ordered a combo with a chicken enchilada with mole and a green chile verde burrito. The chicken enchilada was great and the mole was well done. The green chile verde got lost with all of the beans in the burrito. I'd say if you want the green chile verde "taste", to get it on its own outside of a burrito. The menu had lots of good looking items... I think tacos in California are the best in the world, but decided on something a little different on this day. I visited Davis this past weekend so I had to stop by Tres Hermanas. I love this spot! They have amazing indoor and outdoor patio seating. The patio seating is colorful, lively. We sat outside since it was nice out. The menu caters to vegetarians and pescatarians well. I got a tres hermanas house margarita and guacamole to start. They also brought out chips and salsa. They guacamole was fresh and margarita was classic, delicious, easy to drink. I got enchiladas verdes with the house salad with cilantro dressing. I love the house salad- simple, fresh veg, and the cilantro dressing is light, a little tangy. The enchiladas were incredible. They're a little spicy, for me, perfect spice level. Beans and the rice were seasoned well. The service was great, they checked on our table a couple times even though it was busy. This is my second time here and my husband I truly enjoy it. We brought friends for their first time and they also really enjoyed it. We were seated outside on the patio which is festive with color, there is lots of space and the warm night made it perfect. We started with margaritas. I got the pomegranate lime and it was delicious, not sweet and not tart. My husband and our friend each had a couple of Cadillacs and Im pretty sure they could have had another. My friend got the fajitas and it looked like enough food for two people, my husband got the enchilada plate, I got tortilla soup and the girls got bean and cheese burritos and added steak, everything was great. Our waitress was so accommodating, especially as friends joined us, she welcomed them took their orders and made us feel taken care of. I enjoyed that the margarita flavors are varied, so there is really something for anyone. However, the shrimp tacos were super soggy and not very flavorful. They were filling, but I probably wouldn't get them again. We sat outside, which was kind of loud, but I understand they don't have that much control over it. I'm surprised I didn't give this place five stars since the first time I came here which was about 2 years ago, since then we have become regulars and I have to say that nothing has changed! The food, the people, the drinks, and the atmosphere are all still amazing! When you come in you're welcomed by staff and they allow you to choose a table that you're comfortable with then they bring out their delicious salsa and chips to enjoy while you check out the menu! I've had their guacamole and chips, shrimp cocktail tostadas, chicken chimichangas, fajitas, mole enchiladas, potato, al pastor, and steak tacos! Everything I've had is fresh and tasty! My favorite of all has got to be their chile verde!!! It so the BEST I've had from a restaurant and I frequently come to tres hermanas just for it! Their soups are all delicious - my favorite is their lentil soup. If you get a chance to pick a soup or salad, try a soup! They have different spice levels of salsas and if you're looking for a good spicy salsa ask for their Diabla salsa!! It will not disappoint! As for drinks, they serve them strong and tasty! Just the way I like it! Top two favorites are their cantaritos and their strawberry margaritas on the rocks with a sugar rim! Not the most collegiate place, but they serve decent food and are pretty quick! We came here on a Thursday around 5pm - not too busy. We were promptly seated and got some complimentary chips and salsa (they refill if you ask!). It took a little while for our orders to be taken, but once they were, the food came out pretty quick - within 5-10min for 3 dishes. We were seated right next to where they call in the orders so we got to hear quite a bit. At one point, it appeared that someone was getting annoyed because she was being flagged down to bring out utensils and more chips and she said, "What am I, the host? Someone else do it" and walked off. Maybe not something to say loud enough for patrons to hear... Anyway, I ordered the ensalata nortena with shrimp. It was pretty good! Shrimp was well-seasoned. A bit salty, but when eaten with the bed of greens, it was balanced out. The cilantro dressing was a little flat - I think it could have used some citrus to brighten it up. I couldn't even taste the cilantro in there really. But everything else was great! The peanuts were a good addition - nice crunch to the salad. We had to split the bill, and I made them aware of it before we ordered, so that was smooth. All in all, not bad! This place always seems to have quite a few people eating. read more

The rice is not vegetarian. It has chicken powder in it. They should not be claiming their vegetarian menu to be vegetarian. The food is good but can they please not lie on the menu. It's fairly easy to just substitute with white rice, maybe add lemon/cilantro. read more

Servers were nice. We got the margarita pitchers, which were sort of a rip off, $50 for the basic one which poured about 4/5 margaritas (an individual one is $11). My biggest qualm is that we were not informed there was auto gratuity attached. I suppose it is my fault for not noticing, but I've never had a restaurant fail to inform me so that felt a little disingenuous. Wonderful service, especially for a large group. I was with my cousin's soccer team and family, which totaled to around 40 people. It was genuinely impressive how quickly they were able to take everyone's orders, and then to get the food and drinks served with such accuracy. I ordered a taco salad with grilled veggies, and was very impressed by the amount, and food and flavor they presented. The menu is on the pricier side, but they certainly don't disappoint on volume served. A few weeks ago we dined here anticipating a lovely evening out. The hostess found us a table very quickly. Rogelio took our order and never came back. We wanted to order more drinks, we needed our water refilled, we wanted more napkins. Rogelio never checked on us. Finally I got the attention of the hostess. I told her our server was ignoring us. She graciously gave us what we needed. When we were ready to leave I told her, if I had cash I would give her the tip. She tried to bring us the check but Rogelio intercepted her. This place has the best enchiladas and best salads! I love the friendly atmosphere- the servers always are kind... the inside is fun with bright colors, the outside eating area makes it easy if your looking for fresh air. I came here with some coworkers all of us knowing before hand what deliciousness awaited us, and Tres did not disappoint! I ordered two enchiladas one so I could eat then and there and the other so I could eat it later... I love the mole sauce they use... I ordered one chicken and one cheese... the cheese is still my favorite. They also bring you a salad before hand... I think it's the cilantro dressing that makes this salad amazing!!! The winner was the carne asada with a large portion of flavorful steak. Service was friendly and the inside atmosphere was European/Mexican. Festive and upbeat decorations. Parking is scarce and would be best to walk over here in the area of dozens of bars and restaurants. Cost was somewhat high but lower than Sacramento prices for sit down . Came here to get some real drinks. In Davis there are not any bar bars. Only beer yuck. I hate beer. Got to have really liquor. We sat down at the bar and they brought us chips and salsa right away. I usually drink cognac but they only had Hennessey which I don't like. Remy baby. I got a Jameson instead. Nice pour to. Buddy got a Corona.
