The food was extremely good and the Service was extremely good as well! The restaurant is clean.

    Gyro meal for $9

Good neighborhood spot for simple, no-frills food. Went in for lunch on a Saturday and was greater by all three workers cheerfully. Ordered a gyro meal, with fries and a drink, for $9. Waited about 5-10 minutes and my order was ready. Meat was excellent...hot, lightly seasoned, and plentiful. The pita was hot and fresh and the fries were hot and well done. Place was clean and had excellent service. Would definitely recommend for a quick, tasty, lunch.

I love Chicago. (see picture) Need I say more? Didn't think so. ----------------------------- I had already drafted this review as such in my head during my wonderful lunch and settled in with New Amsterdam's first new episode of the season...yay! The latter + my delicious gyro & fries was a match made in heaven. However, Kostas made the meal even more memorable when he came over to help me on with my coat afterwards, saying, "women deserve everything" and "it is a woman's world." As someone who thinks, sometimes all day, about the status of women, it was kind of a psychic, perfect thing to say to me. Ha! Earlier, after I could not find the gyro place next to my dentist's office - it might no longer be there - I yelped highest-rated gyros in Chicago and drove all the way to Nick's on North since it was also the closest one to the Apple Store Lincoln Park. However, when I pulled in, I was shocked that Nick's was just in a strip mall + didn't look good and THEN I saw a man just sitting there in the window smoking INSIDE nonchalantly and it was closed with a paper sign posted on the door that they had a gas line issue/repair. Wtf. So I went to the next place down the list - this one - and I'm glad!

Looks good but unfortunately didn't have much flavor

It pains me to leave this review I've been coming here for years not sure if I caught them on a off day I usually get the philly cheesesteak as I did today I couldn't wait to take my first bite but this sandwich lacked the flavor it normally has so today was a disappointment

Some people had brunch and some enjoyed lunch. I had the green coconut curry, and it was amazingly delicious. Just the right amount of heat. The fruit salad side dish had a very good variety of different fruits. Everyone loved the potatoes. When I asked if they were gluten-free, they informed they were not but they'd see what they could do. They came out later with a huge bowl of gluten-free potatoes. So delicious and they really went the extra mile. Other things I love about this restaurant is that they use local produce and I believe they have their own garden as well. They also had a meal that day that you could order and would benefit a local nonprofit. Highly recommend this place! Not only was the ambience great but they have several rooms, two of which you can reserve for a private party, and they also do weddings in a larger area on the property. Leslie, if you go to the back where they have one of their bathrooms, they have several small gift items available.

The arugula salad (esmee) is very good as well as the hummus with pita. I was disappointed with the burger since it had too many ingredients clashing with one another for attention. I am a salt girl but even without clear shards fo salt on each chip these were the perfect amount. the dip was cool and creamy, more of a tzhaiki like coolness than a zingy guilt ridden onion dip - I tried the Agnolotti purely to eat purple pasta. the inside was filled with beet puree and ricotta making the dish hearty and filling. it was slightly earthy as the beet flavor powered through more than just the light sweet sauce. the roe on top miraculously made the dish slightly fishy everywhere to the degree where I asked the waiter if there was fish inside the pasta.....I loved it - the Cappellacci was a flavor rollercoaster. right away you taste the sweet summer squash, a warm and comforting taste. as you swallow your throat is punched with a chili kick. all on top of cloud like pasta pieces - the Pappardelle was about the pasta, the al dente thick cuts showcased the housemate pasta. maintaining an al dente doughy goodness with the quality of the ingredients keeping the pasta fresh and far from what comes in a box.

This spot had more seating than I anticipated and there are tables that can accommodate large groups. The aesthetic was giving industrial whimsical bookstore. They also had the jams pumping but not so loud that you couldn't have a conversation. Now for the food: - Homemade ruffles and sour cream and onion dip: This was a must get in my opinion. - Simple green salad: I feel like I can trust that Daisies doesn't source their produce from Taylor Farms, so we felt safe ordering. Man oh man I didn't know how much I needed this in my life. The dressing and the cheese were unmatched. - Mushroom Tagliatelle: Thebomb.com. You can taste the freshness in the pasta and the ragu was so savory yet not too heavy. - Summer seasonal pasta with sweet corn, jalepenos and cheese. The pasta was stuffed and had a delectable cream sauce. It was simply perfection. -1/2 chicken: Simply put this may be the best damn chicken I've ever had in my life. To think we were almost going to skip a protein and get another pasta but this was so good. I don't think words can do it justice. We had to get dessert because we knew that their pastries get a lot of praise throughout the city and beyond. We ordered the sourdough waffle topped with peaches and pecans. There is outdoor seating under a pergola lined with semi-private planters, while the inside features a bar, high tops, low tops, and large booths. The music was upbeat, giving the space an elevated lounge vibe that pairs really well with the upholstered booths and vintage industrial design. I ordered the Wolf Burger, which is a whopping three-patty burger. That first bite was juicy and pure bliss--a total explosion of great flavors. It was a little messy (like all burgers with an egg), but the extra liquid was perfect for balancing the density of such a meaty burger. The soft bun soaked in a lot of those juices with each bite, intensifying the flavor as I ate more. The fries were thin and on the greasier side--not my personal favorite, but they worked alright as a vehicle for the sauce. Speaking of which, the chili aioli served with the fries was fantastic. We also got the mac and cheese, which hit a great balance between rich and creamy without feeling excessively wet. The boat it came in was a bit small, making it a little messy to scoop out with the serving spoon, but it was soooo good. Overall, it is absolutely a fantastic neighborhood place for comfort food and drinks with friends in a great space!

The breakfast burrito is 100% worth the hype. Such buttery fluffy soft eggs w a ton of cheese & the most flavorful sauces (my personal fave was the red sauce)! This thing is massive - I had half and saved the other half for later. The pastries were 10/10 no notes. Very fresh, perfect textures, not overly sweet. The tineka was a flavor bomb! The bread was phenomenal. There's some type of sweet n slightly spicy chutney(?) that really gave it a pop of flavor. The slaw that comes w it was amazing as well. The carrot cake was so moist, perfectly spiced, and the right amount of sweet. Critique: while the baked French feta was good, I think this is the most overpriced dish for what is essentially a small block of feta with some sourdough and a couple pieces of olives and cucumbers. Also, the sourdough was kinda too hard and crunchy for my liking. This is the only dish I don't recommend.

I thought this was to die for - the pasta Yai Yai is a speciality here, and the ingredient list (brown butter, feta, and cinnamon) was intriguing. the pasta was perfectly al dente, long and thick pieces of bucatini. my dining companion loved this dish and was shocked how well the ingredients went together. I thought it was tasty but I could not get a real blend of the flavors, more just tasted "ok cinnamon" and "ok feta" separately, not much of a blend. - the Bavette steak could have been cut with a spoon. the most tender cut of beef in a sweet and sour balsamic sauce. the vegetables, cauliflower and broccoli, were cooked in different seasoning than the steak, providing for more complexity. the slivers of grapes brought out the sweetness of the balsamic.
