Loooveee Fry The Coop. Been going to the other locations for years but glad to have one in our neighborhood. The nice outdoor seating area is great until we get the craving and can't really go indoor to eat. There's some tiny table and bar stools but it's not that big of a place like other locations. Food is always fire and the heat is always crazy! We usually get the chicken sandwiches but the first time we tried the messy fries we were blown away. Now sometimes that's all we get since it has all the best flavors on it and it's such a huge order.

    Closed early with no sign.

I thought the hours of operation were from 10:30 am to 9:00pm. I walked up to order food since they stopped answering the phone at 8:30 pm and the girl sweeping inside with long black hair in a pony tail with pointed face locked the doors as I walked up at 8:45pm. I wonder why the owners would advertise hours for 9pm closing when they actually close earlier than that. So weird to operate a business like this. I guess big chains beat small businesses every time.

Great flavor and solid serving size. Perfect spot for a quick bite to eat if you're in the mood for fried chicken. My go to spot for some good chicken tenders for a fair price as well.

Dear Yelpers, It's time for you to put down the fancy napkins and silverware and get to the good stuff. When I tell you this is the chicken that you need, I wouldn't lie to you. It is juicy, flavorful, with just a beautiful touch of spice. It is ready fast and stays hot until you come grab your order. I honestly don't think I've had a better chicken sandwich than the OG Spicy Butter. Super tender! 10 out of 10!! You're friendly neighborhood foodie

Just moved into the neighborhood and came upon this place on a walk today. What an awesome find! The food was delicious and very fulfilling. I'm usually very particular with my chicken sandwich, but I must say their OG Nashville style was superb! The staff were helpful and attentive.. I sat outside where the ambiance was super cool with the red benches. This place is certainly going to be a go-to moving forward!

I ordered take out. I ordered the Spicy Buttered Chicken. It was not spicy at all, which I was happy about. The chicken was delicious! It was a very thick juicy delicious piece of chicken. I highly recommend. The fries would have been good if they weren't so salty. I had to wipe the salt off and the fries were really good. Recommend this place. I want to go back to try their other chicken sandwiches

I was excited to see this location because I've only been to the location in Prospect Heights, and that's a bit of a distance from me. I'm not sure if I missed an entrance or part of the restaurant because we walked into the "Little Coop" door and there were a handful of bar stools for seating, along with outdoor patio seating, ao it seemed like more of a carry out restaurant. I'm also confused because I see reviews with other menu items that I did not see when I visited. The food didn't take very long to come out. I will say I have a higher spice tolerance, so I wish I had tried a spicier level than medium, but I was still content with the meal.

We're not in Nashville where there's a Hattie B's just down the road, but hot chicken has definitely taken a hold in Chicago, and there's several restaurants to choose from to get your fix. For my part, Fry the Coop has been amongst my two favorites for a while now. I would stop into the Elmhurst location every once in a while before the pandemic since there wasn't one in the area, but finally got a chance to visit the Portage Park location yesterday. FtC has six heat levels. I've only been able to go to the medium level--the hot starts to get too hot for me. Yesterday the medium wasn't as hot as I've had it before so maybe I could have handled a spicier level, but no reason to test my mettle! The medium has just about the right level of heat--and yes, I do want some heat; if I wanted chicken nuggets I could buy a bag at the store--and sometimes I think I can taste the tiniest hint of sweet in there too. Nothing overwhelming, just a bit to compliment the heat. But maybe it's all in my head! The prices here are good too. I don't know if they don't usually have a tender plate?... it wasn't on their permanent menu, but rather was printed on a piece of paper taped to the menu. (If it's not a permanent thing I went on the right day because I don't like chicken sandwiches.) The tender plate came with three tenders, coleslaw, and fries; it was huge. I ate a couple tenders and brought at least half the fries and other tender home since I was pretty full. No fountain drinks here, because (to my surprise) it is a kind of diner-style place that does mostly delivery or pickup. There aren't any tables inside, but there's about a dozen or so counter seats along the interior window. There are some tables outside for better weather days, and it looks like they have a walk-up order window as well. There's also not a public bathroom, and whilst I know that's probably not legally an issue given the type of business they do with the carry-out, it means it's pretty imperative that you use the plastic silverware they give you so you don't make a mess. They don't have wet wipes to give you, so if you use your fingers probably a good idea to bring something to clean your hands with. There's no dedicated parking for this restaurant, just street parking along Milwaukee and the cross streets. On the plus side, it's free street parking. The service was friendly; I'll be back for sure.

Great chicken spot, you get what you pay for. Staff was friendly, and food was came out fast. Would recommend everyone to try this place out!

I absolutely love Fry the Coop. I'm so glad they opened up in this area. Very much needed in the area. I would frequent their Elmhurst location, and never felt like driving all the way down to West Town. Their hot chicken sandwiches where are top notch as is their service. The only disappointment part is they they're essential takeout. They do have stool seating along the window, but honestly nobody dines in here. I always order their "Hot" level and up. It has the perfect amount of heat. The chicken is perfectly fried and coated in spicy seasoning. The chicken breast is always tender and juicy and topped with cole slaw to help with the heat. Their seasoned fries are also very addicting to eat. I've only tired their Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches, but since they're now in the area I might just venture off and try their spicy butter chicken sandwich and donut fried chicken sandwich. I will definitely be back, very very soon!

The Chicago hot dog was exactly what I hoped for, but the surprise was the fried shrimp. Easily some of the best I've had. Crispy, flavorful, and good enough that I'd return just for the shrimp. The customer service was also excellent. They were patient, friendly, and helpful while we figured out what to order. That kind of service matters, especially when you're visiting a neighborhood spot for the first time. With its proximity to Comiskey Park, I'm sure Jeff's is no secret to Chicago locals. But it rarely shows up on the national lists telling visitors where to eat in Chicago. It should. The restaurant itself has an older, small diner feel with plenty of character. Nothing fancy or manufactured for tourists, just a longtime neighborhood spot serving really good food. Chicago has plenty of famous restaurants. Jeff's Red Hots deserves to be one of the places visitors hear about before they arrive.

We ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Garlic Butter Lemon Pepper Wings (comes with fries) to share between 2 people. The food arrived hot and well-packaged, to my personal relief because I didn't want soggy wings - the risks of food delivery, right? Kudos to our courier! The wings were wonderfully, perfectly cooked, moist and so flavorful with a slight tart kick from the lemon pepper, and a nice crispy outside. The breading was the right amount, too. I admittedly don't normally care for chicken wings but I am a fan of Lloyd's! Lobster Mac was outstanding- pasta is nicely al dente (we were both fans of the texture), well-seasoned, not over-salted, and was cheesy and creamy throughout. What a pleasant find today! Will definitely order from again, can't wait to try more items off their menu. Thank you, Lloyd's Upscale Street Food!

Nonetheless I'll started from bad & work my way up. The jerk chicken birria tacos were dry & had no flavor. Not even the accompanying dipping sauce could help. The mac and cheese was ok, nothing to complain nor brag about. The chicken wings had a pretty good flavor & were quite crispy to say the least. The fries that were underneath the chicken were seasoned well. Lastly the lobster ravioli was extremely creamy & rich. I'm nit sure the lobster was cooked well enough however it could a close 2nd to the best thing on the menu which in my opinion is the chickens wings.

Sorry to all you Outdoor Grill lovers- I was once one as well…read more The past 10 out of 12 orders I've placed for delivery have been wrong, burned or beyond the point of edible. I used to place a regular, weekly order from them- which I stopped doing appx 4-5 months ago- as I started to notice 1) the order was taken wrong; 2) the young lady taking my order couldn't get my credit card number right and rather than asking me to repeat my number, she always tells me my card has been rejected. Well- hello- that's because you can't get the number right. This happens almost every time I place a delivery order. 3) last night, I feel as if was my last straw, even though when I called the store to explain that my order, once again, was wrong. The girl who took my order claimed to be the store manager- kindly apologized and offered me a free meal the next time I planned on placing an order. This was a very kind gesture. Today, I opened the container that held part of the order I placed last night, which I was looking forward to for lunch today, to find that what I ordered was burned beyond the point of being edible. (see photo attached. let me know if you can even guess what this is) As much as I appreciate the "free meal" offer- I don't think I even want it- given the amount of times Outdoor Grill can't get an order right- I don't think I would want yet another disappointing meal. I'm all for supporting small, local businesses, having been a small (restaurant) business owner myself. It's important to maintain consistent customer service and quality (edible) food coming out of your kitchen. It's disappointing to see how their quality has progressively, increasingly declined.
