Would give 10 stars if possible. The wings are great and the beef sandwich is amazing. But we ordered from Uber Eats and the driver left without a bag of our condiments, leaving our wings with no sauce ahead of the bears playoffs. Slims PROACTIVELY called to tell us about the error and the MANAGER drove the condiments to us along with some cookies and pop. That is a level of service you dont see much anymore. Maaaaaan! This was such a treat to randomly find! The guys cooking were singing, smiling, having a good time! It made me happy just watching them. You can taste the love they have for what they do. I wanted something with Italian beef and they suggested the burger with the beef on it. Super tasty! The fries were realllll fries and came with a zesty sauce we really enjoyed. Okay but. The spicy chicken po boy is what my partner got. IT WAS SO FRIGGIN AMAZING! Best chicken po boy I've ever had and she agreed. We were starving and took it all to go but ate the sandwich in the car because we could not NOT scarf it down right away. We also got a cookie but it was so good I didn't take a pic and don't remember what kind it was. Stumbled upon Slim's late at night after seeing my friend's improv show closeby. I was craving a hot dog and Slim's was within walking distance. Originally, it was my friend and one of her improv friends that joined me on my quest for a late night meal, but eventually our party turned into 5-7 people. I'm glad I discovered Slim's and can confirm everyone else was happy, as well. My hot dog hit the spot. The fries were delicious and shareable. My friends all got different milkshakes and were raving about them. They have lots of unique flavors in addition to the classics, you can't go wrong either way. Slim's is really good and they're online order system is great but there's just something about it the food in particular that seems to hold it back from competing with some of the other iconic Chicago fast food joints. I go to Slim's once in a while when I'm in the mood for a really good but not-too-fancy cheeseburger and fresh-cut fries. The place isn't shiny or trendy, but it is clean and comfortable and the staff members are friendly and welcoming. There's also outdoor seating in the front when weather permits. The only downside is that street parking can be tricky sometimes, but one can usually find a spot within a block or so. I know Culver's is a couple of blocks in one direction and now Small Cheval a couple of blocks in the other, but I'll still be hitting up Slim's, especially because their Chicago dog is also pretty good, and I can always pick one up for my spouse. read more

The prices reflect the fresh ingredients and upgrades like brioche buns. 3.39 overall. I tried to convince myself to generously round up considering the service and the never frozen burger patties, but. ..that wouldn't be fair to the other 4 star restaurants. I don't like their Chicken Strips, but they are popular. I find they lack seasoning and are chewy. Not worth a special trip, but absolutely check out if you live in the neighborhood. I liked this place. The workers were very nice. The restaurant is very small, has about four booths but when me and a friend went in we were the only ones in there. The food was solid, a bit expensive but pretty good. I got the cheeseburger combo with a strawberry shake and regular fry. The fries were way too salty and the burger was just okay. I've had better. I also got the mozz sticks, they were beer battered which I'm not really a fan of but my friend liked them. When I want good junk food, this place hits the spot. One of these days I'll muster up the courage to try the giant slim's special. Don't forget about the Yelp Check-in offer for free drink or fries with $20 spend. Slim's also offers online ordering through Ritual so that's neat too if you're collecting points there. Also don't forget to get a punch card if you plan on being a repeat customer! There are some street parking on the side streets if you don't want to pay for street parking on Montrose, but you might need to drive around a bit. I normally love these little greasy hole in the walls but I just didn't get a great vibe from this place. It has a weird vibe to it and while they have some modern technology the machine that we placed our order on didn't submit the order even though we were charged. So we started off a little rough. But the young man behind the register jumped in to help us out quickly! We ordered their burger specials with bacon and cheese fries. My daughter joined us for this trip and got the chicken po'boy which wasn't really a po'boy, but it was really good and the sauce that came with it was delicious! The burgers I believe are frozen, not hand packed, but they were good, nothing to brag about and the was well done and I ended up taking mine off because it was too crunchy. The fries were good, they are fresh cut fries, the cheese sauce needs some help, we didn't even use it because of the lack of flavor. The pop machine was also down so we were offered cans after we ended up paying for the soft drinks on the machine... so that was also a bumbum! Overall, if you want an average burger and fry and you're in the area check them out. Oh yeah, and I believe that a member of the ownership came in while we were there and went behind the counter, while there was a few people standing in line to make themselves a few milkshakes and then left. placed an ubereats delivery order at like 1030 at night. i'm 2.5 miles from them. used uber eats. had the spicy chicken po boy. it was good. Outside of the spicy mayo, it was kind of flavorless, but ingredients tasted fresh and above average quality. also got a side of their fries, which were hand cut and didnt seem to have much salt on them, which is what i prefer. I'd give it a solid 3.5. took delivery about 1hr to get to me, but my rating does not factor in any of that. the 3.5 is simply based on how the food tasted. read more

Old school hog dog place with a great dog, hand cut fries, and a solid shake available in a large variety of flavors. I can't wait to come back and try the beef sandwich. Only thing I didn't like about this place is you have to order your food on a tablet like device that I struggled with to place my order. It's certainly not my go to food, but I nibbled a few bites and genuinely enjoyed it. The chili cheese fries were perfect. Because we took it to go, they gave us a generous portion of cheese in one container, a generous portion of chili in the other, and a big bag of fries!
