We came here one before and enjoyed the food so we decided to try it out again. The gyros meat was burned and dry. Usually gyros are overflowing with meat but this one barely had any meat on it. I wish I took a picture because I can't believe that the meat was literally black. The fries seemed dry and overcooked. And the sauce on the wings was very watery. Usually buffalo sauce kind of sticks to wings. Also, it took forever to get our food. I think they were overwhelmed with orders. Maaaaaan! This was such a treat to randomly find! The guys cooking were singing, smiling, having a good time! It made me happy just watching them. You can taste the love they have for what they do. I wanted something with Italian beef and they suggested the burger with the beef on it. Super tasty! The fries were realllll fries and came with a zesty sauce we really enjoyed. Okay but. The spicy chicken po boy is what my partner got. IT WAS SO FRIGGIN AMAZING! Best chicken po boy I've ever had and she agreed. Stumbled upon Slim's late at night after seeing my friend's improv show closeby. I was craving a hot dog and Slim's was within walking distance. Originally, it was my friend and one of her improv friends that joined me on my quest for a late night meal, but eventually our party turned into 5-7 people. I'm glad I discovered Slim's and can confirm everyone else was happy, as well. My hot dog hit the spot. The fries were delicious and shareable. The place isn't shiny or trendy, but it is clean and comfortable and the staff members are friendly and welcoming. There's also outdoor seating in the front when weather permits. The only downside is that street parking can be tricky sometimes, but one can usually find a spot within a block or so. I know Culver's is a couple of blocks in one direction and now Small Cheval a couple of blocks in the other, but I'll still be hitting up Slim's, especially because their Chicago dog is also pretty good, and I can always pick one up for my spouse. read more

I normally love these little greasy hole in the walls but I just didn't get a great vibe from this place. It has a weird vibe to it and while they have some modern technology the machine that we placed our order on didn't submit the order even though we were charged. So we started off a little rough. But the young man behind the register jumped in to help us out quickly! We ordered their burger specials with bacon and cheese fries. My daughter joined us for this trip and got the chicken po'boy which wasn't really a po'boy, but it was really good and the sauce that came with it was delicious! The burgers I believe are frozen, not hand packed, but they were good, nothing to brag about and the was well done and I ended up taking mine off because it was too crunchy. The fries were good, they are fresh cut fries, the cheese sauce needs some help, we didn't even use it because of the lack of flavor. The pop machine was also down so we were offered cans after we ended up paying for the soft drinks on the machine... so that was also a bumbum! Overall, if you want an average burger and fry and you're in the area check them out. Oh yeah, and I believe that a member of the ownership came in while we were there and went behind the counter, while there was a few people standing in line to make themselves a few milkshakes and then left. placed an ubereats delivery order at like 1030 at night. i'm 2.5 miles from them. used uber eats. had the spicy chicken po boy. it was good. Outside of the spicy mayo, it was kind of flavorless, but ingredients tasted fresh and above average quality. also got a side of their fries, which were hand cut and didnt seem to have much salt on them, which is what i prefer. I'd give it a solid 3.5. took delivery about 1hr to get to me, but my rating does not factor in any of that. the 3.5 is simply based on how the food tasted. read more

Only thing I didn't like about this place is you have to order your food on a tablet like device that I struggled with to place my order. Perfect neighborhood hot dog place. We needed food, and we needed it FAST, because the Presidential Debate was about to begin. However, due to hubby's dietary restrictions and my busy schedules, I haven't walked into a hot dog joint for awhile now. I missed my chi-town doggies and determined to visit Slim's this evening after finishing running errands after work. Slim's is located two (2) blocks west from the CTA Montrose Brown Line station in the Ravenswood neighborhood. I know there's usually a huge demand for their delivery services, yet their dining room is hip and comfortable if you ever stop by instead of chilling at your couch playing video games. They have two (2) television sets booming our invincible Chicago Blackhawks and champion-wannabe Chicago Cubs. We came in around 20:30 hour, and the workers were busy prepping a ton of pick-up and delivery orders. I had one of their specials: two (2) Chicago-style dogs with fried for $4.99 (awesome...classy...cheap). Fortunately, hubby found the black bean burger on the menu, so he didn't need to befriend with the meat. The toppings on their hotdogs were very fresh. I was especially fond of the hot peppers to provide an extra "kick," but I wish there was more relish to tone down the "hot." Regardless, I was excited to have my Chicago "edible pets" back in my life! Hubby enjoyed his black bean burger, but he said it could have been made a bit "spicier." He still preferred the BBB at the Hot Diggity Dog underneath the CTA Wellington Brown/Purple Line station. Slim's menu is one of the most extensive menus I've seen.
