The place is super filthy, trash allover the floor. Ordered seared ahi tuna, asked the waitress to add morr tuna and charge me extra I did not mind paying extra. They halfed the salad and put it in two smaller5 plates, one with old ahi and one with slightly fresher tuna. All and all with 50% more fish and charged me twice, what a rip off. We arrived at our hotel for one night while passing through Amarillo and chose this location for our meal. Our waitress, Caitlin was personable, delightful and very attentive. Called an hour and half before our reservation to ensure everything was ok. They didn't inform me of any delay at that time. Showed up 15 minutes before our scheduled reservation and was told we would have to wait an extra 30 minutes. We made a reservation on a Friday night for 12 people at 730. We were told the table that we would be seated at had patrons that were not ready to leave yet. We waited until 830pm before finally getting the manager's attention as there were plenty of empty tables that could be pushed together. He decided to finally seat us and push these said tables together. He did offer us free appetizers. My other complaint is that I ordered a rare prime rib and was served a well done. The manager came by and said he was unsure why that cut was sent out because the cook knew all they had left was well done prime ribs. He offered be another cut of steak and I decided on a rare rib eye. I was not offered a discount. I felt the hostess was very cold to us and did not make our large group feel welcome rather a burden as we were left standing at the front for an hour without an update when we would be seated. My family and I decided to go eat Sunday dinner at Outback which has been one of our favorite places to eat for a very long time. After waiting for 45 minutes outside in the sun we were then texted that our table was ready. Worst Outback that I ever eaten at. I always talk Outback up but not this location. It's terrible! Go to Golden Corral across the street. I watched the bartender most of the night. Take dirty beer mugs and drink glasses and not wash them and put them right back on the shelf and in the beer mug cooler. I have eaten at many of these locations and this one ranks #1 of the worst Outback locations ever. The food wasn't great either. Went back because the restaurant we wanted to go to was a 40 min Waite and we wanted to try the new menu and again disappointed had to get my own straws and silverware the new blooming onion foods were greasy and everything expensive drinks and service very slow. Horrible service and food. We waited at least 10 minutes before our drink order was even taken. There was maybe 12 people including my family in the whole restaurant with 3-4 servers. This was at 4:45. We we're all seated in the bar area. The steak cheese dip with chips and the bread was the only good food. My six year old's children's steak was seasoned so much with pepper it was too spicy to eat. My daughter's chicken was ok tasting but had more fat then anything. The alfredo pasta she didn't eat but one bite. My husband thought his prime rib was ok but not the best. His pecan blue cheese salad was wet, soggy and wilted. His mac n cheese tasted like how sewer or a blocked septic tank smells. The meat on the prime rib sandwich didn't taste fresh. I tried soaking it with au jus. That didn't make it any better. This used to be a great place to go eat but not anymore. We piled up the plates at the end of the table. No one cleared them even after asking a different waiter than our waitress we had because our's didn't come check on us. After sitting with the mess of our plates for 10 or so minutes our waitress came to ask if we wanted dessert. There was no room on the table for us to have a dessert. Never disappointed with Outback and tonight was no exception. Both my husband and I received steaks that were not cooked to order (still edible, just not what we ordered). When the waitress checked on how they tasted, we were honest in mentioning they were over cooked. She quickly sent the manager out to our table. We asked for a discount on the steaks and Taylor was much more than generous, taking care of our meal. The food was still delicious and both server Courtney, and manager, Taylor made this an extra awesome experience - even with over cooked steaks! We will be back for sure. I moved to Amarillo nearly 6 years ago. I have 3 favorite steak houses I enjoy outback is one. The steak are seasoned perfectly they are cooked just the way I like them.the steaks are always tender easy to chew. The blooming onion is to die for.. Dirty floors. Dirty bathrooms. Caesar salad had old turning brown Romaine lettuce. The grilled shrimp on top was stringy, but had a good flavor, so it was just okay. A few were somewhat overcooked. The server however was very friendly and efficient. The bread was their usual brown bread. One of my favorite things at Outback is the bread. Wishing I had just ordered bread. I would never eat there again, and hesitate to eat at any Outback again even though the chain is typically good. Stopped at this location on the way back from Keystone, Colorado. Placed a large order with many different things. Arrived and the food was perfect and the waiter even asked if it was okay. Sure, during my six weeks in Amarillo I enjoyed other Outback meals, but with the outdoor temperature well above 100, a heavy meal just wasn't appealing that night. Two factors made Outback a particularly well-suited dinner venue . . . First, bartender Josh was outstanding. As did several other businessmen and women, we ate at the bar. Josh did a masterful job of making sure that nobody felt neglected through intelligent conversation and humor. Hats off to an outstanding bartender! Next, the Bourbon-Bacon Grilled Salmon was delicious; moist, flavorful and satisfying. It took awhile to find some help, everyone was busy except for the employee sitting there on his phone in the take out, I asked him if my food was ready, his response was "No". Waited longer , I asked a different person If my food was ready yet.. She then asked my name finally, then she discovered my order HAD been ready from the beginning and sitting there since I had arrived. The food was terrible: One steak was over cooked and cold, the other steak was just cold. The shrimp pasta had barely any sauce and was DRY. Got a tablespoon of ranch for the salad, got about 5 pieces of bacon and 6 pieces of cheese, no chives for the LOADED backed potato. I know during these crazy times, if you want to stay afloat, and keep customers coming back, you need to know you have to get organized Your take out needs WORK. read more

One is an incident, two is a coincidence, three is a trend Although the food has been terrific, on the last three trips to Outback I've encountered some variety of questionable service. I think the common theme in all three is an overtaxed wait staff. First time, dinner on a Saturday night, took unusually long time for wait staff to take order, even long to bring drinks, and salads were forgotten altogether. It was really hard to flag down wait staff to get them to bring the check and get refills on drinks, which wasn't being done without asking. Second time, dinner on a Sunday, again, very little attention from wait staff, would take off before I could finish talking, and appetizers were forgotten and no refills on drinks. Third time, weekday lunch, took even longer for acknowledgement from wait staff, food got out pretty quick after order, but it took a long time to get the order taken. When we were ready to pay, we had our cards on the table and the wait staff probably walked by us 5 or 6 times and didn't take the cards. I don't put this totally on the wait staff, however, as it seemed this poor girl was covering no less than 10 tables. When your'e hunkered down in Amarillo on your way to somewhere else, you have to eat somewhere, right? And being that this place is right next door to a hotel we stay at sometimes, it just makes sense. So, here are the pros and cons: Pros: Service is prompt and friendly. But our server got stiffed by some locals who frequently come in and just order desserts; no tip for the server. Apparently this is a thing with these people. Tea is good, cold and refreshing. Food is tasty; not as described on the menu, necessarily, but good. It's a chain so you can expect a certain level of standardization. Cons: It's a chain. Food is not necessarily as described on the menu: I ordered a mahi dish that was supposed to be covered with a sauce containing artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes and sliced green onions. No hearts, two tiny bits of onion. Good 'maters, tho. Maybe the server was a little rattled from being stiffed, but sweet tea ain't my thing. Please stop refilling my unsweet tea with sweet. That said, she was, indeed, very friendly and prompt. If you gotta go through here, it's worth the stop...just don't be too surprised if you get surprised. Had lunch today at Outback. They were not busy thank goodness because it took forever to get our lunch. When they brought our food my asparagus looked like four sprigs of old and cold and dried out asparagus. I told the server and he agreed and brought an additional four asparagus that were much better and hot. I also had coconut shrimp that were good. My husband had steak, lobster and crab cakes in addition to a chopped salad. He said his was very mediocre. This is the second time we have tried to eat there and very disappointed. We always loved Outback but it will be a while before we return. Something should be done to bring it back to Wonderful like it used to be. read more

I think the steaks just taste better here in Texas because the meat is so fresh. You can get a really decent simply dressed steak with simple (not dripping with butter) veggies here at Outback. Their drinks aren't bad for a chain either. However, I hate it that the waiters come and sit on your bench with you an invade your space. I like friendly, but touching me is ridiculous. Cut it out! Well, they screwed up my steak and meal again. This happens every time I come to outback literally. I don't know why I still come. I live in a small town, so it is usually a treat when I get to come eat at outback, but one of these days I will learn. I got the $11.99 three course special they have on Wednesdays. The nice thing was, that the manager brought me a whole other steak and potato. So, I got basically two meals for the price of one. I had to wait forever for the properly cooked steak that was not overcooked, so I ended up having to ear the one that did not taste very good that I did not like. I wasn't going to waste the food! They brought out the second state, and it still was not cooked correctly! No surprise to me. I boxed it up and I'm taking it home for later. Or for my dog probably. For $40 I expect a decent tasting meal, not this garbage. Called in a pick up order as we were driving through town and what a mistake that was. One kids burger was cold and very hockey puckish. Live here locally, used to love coming to outback. The past few months we will walk in and have to wait 20+ minutes when there are 15+ tables open. We found that it's better to just pay the extra $10 to drive down to the salt grass and they seat you almost immediately. It seems that I can't get a correct order to save my life at this place. I ordered the Porterhouse for pickup. I went over, picked up my food, and was very happy for the 15 minutes that it took me to get to my hotel room to dig in to my meal. When I opened the tray, I noticed that half my steak was missing! I was like WTF? Then I calmed down, and realized that while I had ordered the most expensive steak on the menu, that's not what I got. I walked back over there to get the problem resolved. The kitchen had just closed. When I arrived, I wanted to talk to a manager but didn't get one. Instead, I was lead back to the to go area, where the girl grabbed my plate and ran off to the kitchen without asking me how I wanted to resolve the issue. I don't want a steak that's just thrown together in two minutes after the kitchen is closed. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't get what I ordered if I did that, either, just a rush job slapped onto a plate that I'd be scared someone spit in out of spite because I brought it back. I paid with my card and got my ticket refunded, but since I tipped in cash, I was out that money and have nothing to show for it. Your job is literally just to bring people food that other people cook. That's like the easiest job in the world, and this place still can't figure out how to get people who can do it. Had a bad prime rib yesterday at Saltgrass so thought I'd give Outback a shot tonight Sat in the bar, Shay and Taylor were my servers. They were very attentive and accommodating. Rare 16 oz prime rib was tasty, cooked perfectly and tender. Wedge salad was great as well. Amarillo Outback is a keeper. Definitely a better value and piece of meat than Saltgrass. Their only drawbacks are no food or drink happy hour specials and their drinks are expensive. $8.75 for a glass of house cab. read more
